Chillspot producer Tafadzwa Mandaza, known as DJ Rhibe, appeared in court on Wednesday facing allegations of raping a 14-year-old girl.
The 32-year-old was brought before Harare magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa and remanded in custody until November 20 for a routine remand hearing.
The magistrate advised him to seek bail from the High Court.
Mandaza was represented by lawyers Dumisani Mtombeni and Stanley Matandadzi.
According to prosecutors, on October 16, the victim did not return home from school after her father discovered she had missed two consecutive days.
The following day, around 10 PM, the minor was with DJ Rhibe and others at Mashwede Village, where he allegedly made her drink an unknown substance while smoking shisha.
It is claimed that on October 18 at around 3 AM, the girl and DJ Rhibe went to his residence, where she regained consciousness the next day.
Upon waking, she realized that DJ Rhibe had engaged in sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
The girl was later located in Highfield after a missing person report was filed with the police.
The case came to light on October 20 when the complainant was questioned by her father.
Ribhe is the latest member of Chillspot Records to have encountered legal troubles.
Previously, DJ Levels faced rape allegations, which were ultimately dropped by fellow musician Shashl, who had accused him.
Throughout the trial, DJ Levels maintained his innocence, denying that he raped Shashl, his former girlfriend.
DJ Fantan faced charges of domestic violence brought by his estranged wife, Gamu Nemukuyu. 
Similar to the situation with DJ Levels, the allegations made by Nemukuyu were also dropped.

DJ Ribhe, a producer at Chillspot, is accused of drugging and raping a 14-year-old girl. He appeared in court and was remanded in custody. Allegedly, he gave the girl a substance to drink and then had sex with her without her consent. The girl was found after going missing, and her dad reported her disappearance to the police. Ribhe is not the first member of Chillspot to have legal troubles; DJ Levels and DJ Fantan also faced accusations, but the cases were dropped. Ribhe will seek bail from the High Court.

Two armed robbers, Ashton Siziba (26) and Phinias Shumba (25), were sentenced to an effective 84 years each by the Chiredzi regional magistrate Judith Zuyu for robbing passengers on a Beitbridge-bound bus in July.
The robbery occurred on July 18, when the gang, posing as ordinary passengers, stole over US$8,600 and R62,000 from more than 40 passengers traveling on a Blue Circle bus.
The bus, carrying 45 passengers, was targeted by a four-man gang that included Siziba, Shumba, and their accomplice Sauro Dadirayi,23 ) of Sitauze area in Beitbridge is already serving his sentence after being tried separately. The second accomplice remains unidentified and at large.
The robbery took place around 2:30 AM near Rutenga along the Masvingo-Beitbridge highway after Siziba signaled the driver to stop, claiming he had reached his destination.
Once the bus stopped, Siziba brandished a black pistol and ordered the conductor back onto the bus, while Shumba and the others displayed okapi knives and directed the driver deeper into the bush.
The robbers collected cash from 31 passengers before ordering all male passengers to lie down and forcing female passengers off the bus. After the robbery, the gang escaped in an unidentified vehicle parked behind the bus.
Siziba, Shumba, and Dadirayi were apprehended after police received tips about their whereabouts at Mapurisa Business Centre in Maranda, leading to the recovery of stolen cash and the firearm used in the robbery.

Two More Blue Circle Bus Armed Robbers Jailed 84 Years Each

A villager from Mtetengwe, Beitbridge, has been fined three goats after a traditional court found her guilty of speaking to the regional newspaper <a href="https://newsday.co.zw/southerneye/local/article/200034569/villager-fined-3-goats-for-speaking-to-the-media">Southern Eye</a> and reporting what she perceived as extortionist behaviour by a village head.
Efa Sebata, of Tshamunanga village, was ordered to pay one goat to Headman Mabhidhi, another to complainant village head Edna Tshidixwa, and a third to the community.
She had already been fined two goats and two chickens for allegedly disrespecting Tshidixwa during a gathering where villagers received instructions on rearing day-old chicks distributed by ZANU PF.
Sebata believes she was denied justice and claims that a total abuse of power and corruption is at play in her case. She said:

I was not given time to explain my case by Headman Mabhidhi. I found it strange that I had a misunderstanding with Tshidixwa who became the complainant, judge and jury and went on to preside over a case she was the complainant.
We were at a workshop, where ZANU PF officials from Harare educated villagers on how to care for broiler chickens.
I was knowledgeable and they suggested making me their point person from where chick distributions would be done. The kraal head was not amused and blocked the idea.

Sebata questioned Tshidixwa after a meeting, asking why she was blocked, which led to Tshidixwa threatening to make her pay a goat.
A few days later, Sebata was summoned to Tshidixwa’s homestead for a hearing.
Tshidixwa, presiding over the matter with her family members, ordered Sebata to pay two goats and two chickens.
Tshidixwa’s brother subsequently took two chickens from Sebata’s fowl run, instructing her to bring the goats later.
Dissatisfied with the situation, Sebata sought advice from other villagers, who recommended that she contact NewsDay, which in turn referred her to the police.
Sebata was later called to headman Mabhidhi’s court, where she was charged for speaking to the media and reporting to the police.
The villagers are baffled by what they perceive as gross abuse of power by traditional leaders, accusing them of enriching themselves through dubious trials and convictions.

A woman in Beitbridge, Zimbabwe was fined three goats for talking to the media about corruption. She had already been fined two goats and two chickens before for disrespecting a village head. She believes the traditional court did not give her a fair chance to explain herself. The woman was threatened by the village head after questioning her about being blocked from a job. When she sought advice from other villagers and the media, she was fined even more. The villagers are upset at what they see as unfair treatment by traditional leaders.

Beitbridge Villager Fined 3 Goats For Speaking To The Media

Langton Madara, director of Preperco Investments, attempted to defraud the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) of US$1.6 million in a bond paper supply contract.
As reported by <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/directors-bid-to-defraud-zrp-backfires/">The Herald</a>, the presiding magistrate Clever Tsikwa initially sentenced Madara to 36 months imprisonment.
However, 18 months of the sentence were suspended on condition of good behaviour, and the remaining 18 months were suspended on condition that Madara performs 630 hours of community service at Glen View Polyclinic.
The court considered Madara’s status as a first offender and noted that no money was lost since the fraud was discovered before payment was made.
Prosecutor Tendai Tapi proved that Madara submitted a fake bank guarantee to secure an advance payment from ZRP.
In 2022, the ZRP advertised for suppliers of bond paper in a newspaper, seeking reputable companies to supply in bulk, to which Madara responded.
The police awarded Madara the tender, and in January 2023, a contract was signed between ZRP and Madara, represented by Commissioner General of Police Godwin Tandabantu Matanga.
The contract included a special condition requiring the ZRP to make an advance payment of 15 per cent of the total cost of the bond paper, backed by a bank guarantee.

A man named Langton Madara from Preperco Investments tried to cheat the Zimbabwe Republic Police out of $1.6 million by faking a bank guarantee for a bond paper supply contract. The court sentenced him to 18 months in prison and 18 months of community service. Thankfully, the fraud was caught before any money was paid. In 2022, Madara responded to a call for paper suppliers, got the contract, but tried to get an advance payment dishonestly. He got caught, and now he has to serve his sentence.

Preperco Director Sentenced For Attempted US$1.6 Million Fraud On ZRP

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has paid over ZWG140,000 to Amos Siska, a Gweru resident and victim of police brutality.
According to the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), in April 2020, during the enforcement of government-imposed national lockdown regulations, ZRP officers severely assaulted Siska while he was queuing at Stanbic Bank in Gweru.
Siska was assaulted with truncheons, booted feet, and open hands, resulting in serious injuries, including a fractured arm.
Following the assault, Siska engaged Reginald Chidawanyika from Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights to sue ZRP Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga and Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe for damages related to shock, pain, suffering, and medical expenses.
After a full trial in April 2022, Gweru Provincial Magistrate Miriam Banda ordered Matanga and Kazembe to compensate Siska for the damages resulting from the police assault.
Instead of complying with the court order promptly, Matanga and Kazembe delayed payment, prompting Siska’s lawyer to initiate contempt of court proceedings.
Recently, Kazembe and Matanga finally complied with the court order and paid ZWG143,368 to Siska as compensation for the violation of his rights due to police brutality.

A man in Gweru, Zimbabwe got hurt by the police during lockdown. They hit him and broke his arm. He asked for money to pay for the pain and medical bills. The police at first did not give him the money. Finally, after some time, they paid him ZWG143,368. He received the money for the harm caused by the police. This shows that sometimes when people do wrong things, they have to make it right by giving money to those they hurt.

Gweru Man Receives Over ZWG140,000 Compensation After Assault By Police During Lockdown

A truck driver, Cosmas Kazuzu, is in trouble after he allegedly posed as “Matinyadze” from Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga’s office and threatened Douglas Zimbango, the CEO of Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC), to reinstate the suspended human resources manager, Lavet Wadawarewa.
As reported by <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200034555/trucker-in-trouble-for-name-dropping-chiwenga">NewsDay</a>, Kazuzu is accused of making multiple calls to Zimbango, threatening to expose ZCDC officials’ alleged involvement in diamond theft if the suspension was not lifted.
He appeared before magistrate Tapiwa Banda and was remanded in custody, with a bail application expected this Tuesday.
On August 5, Kazuzu allegedly contacted Zimbango, claiming to have documents incriminating him in theft and fraud involving diamonds at ZCDC.
On August 12, he reportedly sent a text message to Zimbango, threatening him with dismissal if the charges against Wadawarewa were not dropped.
Kazuzu is being represented by lawyer Scott Panashe Mamimine.
It is further alleged that on August 16 Kazuzu contacted Elias Mvere, the chief security officer at ZCDC, identifying himself as Matinyadze from Vice-President Chiwenga’s office to inquire about the suspension of human resources manager Lavet Wadawarewa.
During the conversation, Kazuzu claimed to have a document detailing criminal activities at ZCDC involving the complainant and other senior managers. He threatened to take the document to Chiwenga if the disciplinary charges were not withdrawn.
Kazuzu sent a document titled “Developments @ ZCDC” to Mvere via his mobile phone, instructing that it be forwarded to the complainant.
The document allegedly contained allegations of theft and fraud against the complainant and other senior managers at ZCDC.
Mvere raised a complaint with ZCDC CEO Douglas Zimbango, sharing the document via WhatsApp.
Investigations by the police led to Kazuzu’s arrest.

A truck driver pretended to be important person's aide and threatened a CEO. He asked ZCDC to reinstate a suspended manager or else he would expose diamond theft. The driver is now in trouble and waiting for bail. He made calls and sent messages pretending to have incriminating documents. The CEO reported him to the police and he got arrested. The driver's lawyer is helping him in court. The CEO did not listen to the threats and reported the matter to the authorities.

ARREST OF SUSPECTS FOR ARMED ROBBERY CASES WHICH OCCURRED IN AND AROUND HARARE
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Spencer Mapfumo (42), Patrick Chibaba alias Mupositori (38), Tarwirei Madzudzu alias Mukanya (50), Paddington Meki (44) and Washington Marunze (36) in connection with a case of robbery which occurred on 28th October 2024 at Dinwoo Investments, Workington, Harare where US$ 30 000.00 cash was stolen.
On 30th October 2024, detectives from CID Homicide Harare received information which linked Spencer Mapfumo to the offence.
The detectives tracked the suspect who was driving a Nissan AD Van with no registration plates and arrested him along Cameroon Street, Harare near Jumbo Wholesalers.
Investigations by the detectives established that Spencer Mapfumo had bought a Nissan AD Van using his share of the loot. The detectives recovered the vehicle, a firearm and US$ 37.00 cash.
Spencer Mapfumo implicated Patrick Chibaba, Tarwirei Madzudzu, Paddington Meki and Washington Marunze as his accomplices. He led the detectives to Patrick Chibaba’s place of residence in Eyecourt, Waterfalls, Harare.
On seeing that he was surrounded, Patrick Chibaba tried to escape and he was shot on the left foot leading to his arrest.
The detectives recovered US$2 020.00 cash, a black bag containing a 7.65 mm Tokarev pistol loaded with three rounds and a Relay blank Riyreroy pistol from the suspect.
The detectives also managed to arrest Tarwirei Madzudzu at his residence in St Mary’s, Chitungwiza after they fired a warning shot when the suspect tried to run away. The detectives recovered US$740.00 cash which was in the suspect’s house.
On 31st October 2024, the detectives acted on received information and tracked Paddington Meki to the intersection of Josiah Tongogara Avenue and Simon Muzenda Street where he was intercepted leading to his arrest.
The suspect was travelling in a red Honda Fit, vehicle registration number AFV 0438, to Domboshava where he intended to meet with his accomplices.
Patrick Chibaba also assisted the detectives in luring Washington Marunze to Julias Nyerere Street, Harare where he was subsequently arrested.
The detectives recovered a magazine loaded with a 7.65mm rounds, US$805.00 cash and a small silver and black bag from the suspect.
The suspects are clearing six armed robbery cases which occurred in and around Harare from July 2024 to October 2024.
Some of these cases include an armed robbery case which occurred on 20th August 2024 at around 0001 hours at ZAOGA Church, Glenorah A, Harare where US$4 000.00, £130.00, ZAR 5 610.00, BWP 120.00 and ZWG559.00 cash was stolen.
In another armed robbery case which occurred at Garfunkel, Prince Charles Airport, Mt Hampden, Harare on 07th October 2024, the suspects stole an expandable button stick and US$27 273.00 cash.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that Bornwell Mukwasi (32), Clive Mudiwa (25) and Nathan Mudiwa (22) were arrested in connection with a case of robbery which occurred at Rhi-Media Holdings, Harare on 29th October 2024 where computers and accessories valued at US$71 710.00 were stolen.
On 30th October 2024, detectives from CID Homicide Harare acted on received information and arrested Bornwell Mukwasi in Harare Central Business District. The suspect implicated Clive Mudiwa and Nathan Mudiwa as his accomplices.
Investigations by the detectives established that Bornwell Mukwasi had sent some of the loot to Beitbridge via a bus.
The police intercepted the bus and recovered three subwoofer speakers, an IMac monitor, a Dell laptop and a power cable.
On 31st October 2024, Clive Mudiwa and Nathan Mudiwa were also arrested in Budiriro, Harare in connection with this case.
The arrest of the two suspects led to the recovery of one speaker, a monarch, a bolt cutter, a machete, 11 mic transmitters, two body packs, 50 microphone cables, three studio monitors, an IMac pro monitor, two Canon CD5rs printers and various accessories all valued at US$65 000.00.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police applauds the public for supplying positive information which has assisted the police to account for armed robbery suspects throughout the country.

The police in Zimbabwe caught two groups of armed robbers who stole money and other things in Harare. One group stole $30,000 from Dinwoo Investigations, and the other group stole things worth $71,710 from Rhi-Media Holdings. The police arrested six people from the first group and three people from the second group. They found the stolen cash and items, like computers, speakers, and laptops. The police are happy that the public helped them catch the robbers. They want people to keep giving information about criminals.

Police Dismantle Two Armed Robbery Gangs | Full Statement

Five armed robbers targeted a church in Marlborough, Harare, on October 31, around 11 PM, and made off with over US$54,000 in cash.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the robbery, saying the suspects, who were armed with a pistol and wearing balaclavas, attacked two security guards on duty before ransacking the church complex. The ZRP said:

Police in Marlborough are investigating a case of robbery which occurred at a church in Goodhope, Harare on 31/10/24 at around 2300 hours. Five male suspects, who were armed with a pistol, and wearing balaclavas, attacked two security guards who were on duty.
The suspects ransacked the church complex and stole US$54 200.00 cash which was in a safe.

In a separate incident, two women robbed a homeowner in Glenwood, Epworth, Harare, stealing US$7,000 around 11 PM on November 1. Police said:

Two unidentified female suspects confronted the victim under the pretence of buying water before attacking her.  The suspects ransacked the house and stole US$ 7000.00 cash and some groceries.

Police are appealing for anyone with information regarding these incidents to report to the nearest police station.
Zimbabwe has seen a significant increase in armed robbery cases involving large sums of cash in recent years.
This trend is partly due to businesses and individuals increasingly opting to keep cash on their premises and at home rather than in banks.
One contributing factor is the frequent cash shortages in the economy, making it challenging for businesses to withdraw the necessary funds from banks.
Additionally, inconsistent policies and abrupt monetary policy announcements from authorities have left millions facing financial losses, leading to a deep erosion of trust in the country’s financial system.
As a result, many are compelled to keep their cash close at hand, further exacerbating the risks of robbery.

Marlborough Church Robbed Of US$54 000, Female Robbers Pounce On Epworth Resident

Kadoma businessman Eric Tambudze was reportedly shot dead by unknown assailants at his home in West View last Friday.
Tambudze was a multifaceted entrepreneur; he was a farmer, a pharmacist, and operated a chain of bookstores, in addition to being involved in gold mining.
His son, Leslie, told <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200034537/kadoma-businessman-brutally-killed">NewsDay</a> that the assailants did not steal anything from the scene. He said:

I don’t have much to say but that’s what happened. My father was shot dead upon arriving home from work by some people last Friday.
</blockquote>
The spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Mashonaland West Province, Inspector Ian Kohwera, directed all inquiries to national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, who said he would issue a statement on Monday.
Eric Tambudze is survived by his wife and two children.

A businessman in Kadoma, Eric Tambudze, was shot dead at his home by unknown people. He was a farmer, pharmacist, and had bookstores. His son said the attackers didn't steal anything. The police are investigating. Eric Tambudze leaves behind a wife and two children. The family is mourning the loss.

Kadoma Businessman Killed In Cold Blood

Disgruntled villagers in Hurungwe, Mashonaland West province, have lodged an urgent appeal with the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife to stop the establishment of a cement manufacturing plant by Labenmon Investments.
The villagers, from Chasara and Kapere villages in Magunje located under Hurungwe Rural District Council, claim that Labenmon Investments began pegging and fencing off land in July 2024 without their consent, affecting their grazing fields and farming land.
According to the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), the villagers want Environment, Climate and Wildlife Minister Sithembiso Nyoni to stop Labenmon Investments, a Chinese-owned mining company, from pursuing plans to establish a cement manufacturing plant in Ward 11 in Katenhe in Magunje, located in Hurungwe.
The villages allege that Labenmon Investments, descended on the two villages sometime in July 2024 and began pegging and fencing off the area in Magunje and the affected area included the grazing fields and farming land of several villagers.
They later learnt that Labenmon Investments was going to establish a cement manufacturing plant in the pegged area and they were prohibited from accessing their grazing fields and farming land by the mining company.
On 3 October 2024, the villagers became aware through a newspaper article published in the state-run Herald newspaper that Labenmon Investments had been issued with an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Certificate to establish a cement manufacturing plant in the area that had been pegged in Magunje.
The villagers allege they were not consulted during the EIA process and engaged Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights to appeal the issuance of the EIA Certificate.
They then engaged Tinashe Chinopfukutwa and Kelvin Kabaya of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, who filed an appeal with Nyoni recently, asking her to withdraw and cancel an EIA Certificate Licence No. L10000034346 issued on 3 September 2024 by the Director General of the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) to Wih-Zim Construction Investments Cement Manufacturing, which is linked to Labenmon Investments, as the issuance was erroneous and invalid.
In the appeal, Kabaya and Chinopfukutwa argued that the Director-General of EMA erred by issuing an EIA Certificate to Labenmon Investments before receiving the company’s EIA Report, violating sections 100(1) and 100(2) of the Environmental Management Act.
The lawyers contended that the Director-General imposed an unlawful special condition on the EIA Certificate, requiring Labenmon Investments to submit the EIA Report after the certificate’s issuance, which also violated the same sections of the Act.
They asserted that the Director-General should have reviewed Labenmon Investments’ EIA Report before issuing the EIA Certificate.
The appeal argued that the Director-General failed to adhere to principles of natural justice, including prior informed consent and public participation, which are protected under various sections of the Environmental Management Act and other legal frameworks.
The lawyers argued that several procedural rights related to natural justice were violated during the process of granting the EIA Certificate, referencing specific legal provisions and the Constitution’s right to administrative justice.
Kabaya and Chinopfukutwa pointed out that Labenmon Investments did not conduct any public consultations with the affected villagers regarding the proposed cement manufacturing plant, further violating section 136 of the Environmental Management Act.

Hurungwe Villagers Protest "Irregular" Establishment Of Chinese-owned Cement Factory

Five men were arrested in Harare on Saturday allegedly for possessing Starlink kits without a valid licence, reported <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/five-arrested-in-harare-for-illegally-selling-starlink-kits/">The Herald</a>.
The suspects are Polite Jamba (28), Ngoni Mandiwo (29), Denver Ndebele (26), Tinotenda Vambe (26), and Lennin Mhiripiri (26). They are scheduled to appear in Court this Monday.
According to a police report, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Highlands received information that the two accused persons, Ndebele and Mandiwo, were selling Starlink kits at shop number 1 Easy Walk Mall in the CBD.
Acting on a tip-off, the detectives went to the specified address and found the suspects in possession of two Starlink Gen 2 kits without valid licenses.
The suspects were arrested and taken to CID Highlands for further processing. The total value of the seized goods is US$900. Reads the report:

Mabvuku Turn-off Bribe-taking Police Officers Arrested

A self-styled prophet, believed by the State to be a mental health patient, was arrested after demanding to see former First Lady Grace Mugabe at her Blue Roof residence in Borrowdale Brooke, Harare.
The accused, Gore Mukondiwa, was denied entry by police officers stationed at the residence but remained insistent, ultimately leading to his arrest.
He was charged with criminal trespass and appeared before Harare Magistrate Sharon Rakafa, who remanded him in custody until November 7, ordering that Mukondiwa undergo an examination under the Mental Health Act.
During the proceedings, the court heard that Mukondiwa claimed he had a prophecy to deliver to the widow of former President Robert Mugabe.
However, the former First Lady, who was entertaining visitors at the time, refused to see him, dismissing him as a “nuisance.”
In court, Mukondiwa expressed surprise at the mental examination order, asserting to the magistrate that he was a “spiritual guide” and of sound mind.

Self-Styled Prophet Arrested For Demanding To Enter Grace Mugabe's Residence

A landlord from Gweru has received a four-month prison sentence, wholly suspended by a magistrate, for assaulting his tenant over unpaid rent.
Jonah Banda (40), from Ascot in Gweru, appeared before the Gweru Magistrates’ Court to face assault charges.
The court heard that on October 1, 2024, at around 12:45 PM, the complainant, a tenant in Banda’s residence, was sewing clothes in the sitting room when Banda knocked on the door and entered before she could respond.
Banda demanded payment for the overdue rent, but when the complainant explained that she had no money, he became enraged. In a violent outburst, he pulled a screwdriver from his pocket and stabbed her twice in the head.
The complainant promptly reported the incident to the police, leading to Banda’s arrest.
Ultimately, he was sentenced to four months in prison, with the sentence suspended on the condition that he does not commit a similar offence within the next five years.

Landlord Assaults Tenant Over Unpaid Rent In Gweru

A 24-year-old man from Dulibadzimu, Beitbridge, has been arrested after allegedly faking the theft of a rented vehicle.
Douglas Chinoona had conspired with a friend to illegally export the car to Lusaka, Zambia, with plans to sell it there.
Chinoona told <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/man-loses-hired-car-money-meant-for-lobola/">H-Metro</a> that he lost US$2,400 intended for a lobola ceremony and a white Toyota GD6 (AGE 4106) he had rented from Good 2 Go Car Rental while staying at a lodge in Harare.
He claimed that he had booked the lodge for one night on his way to Murehwa for the ceremony.
While at the lodge, Chinoona claimed he was awakened by staff who informed him that two men had arrived with a set of keys, claiming they were authorised by the car rental company to retrieve the vehicle. He subsequently reported the alleged theft at Mabelreign Police Station.
However, in a statement issued on Friday, Good 2 Go Car Rental revealed that investigations by the Vehicle Theft Squad (VTS) concluded that Chinoona had fabricated the robbery. The investigation confirmed that he had indeed colluded with his friend to export the car illegally.
Chinoona has since been arrested and is facing charges of vehicle theft and providing false information to the police.
The car rental company also asserted that Chinoona neither had the money for lobola nor any genuine intention to pay. Reads the statement:

Our attention has been drawn to an article published in lifestyle tabloid H-Metro on Friday 1 November 2024, in which the writer alleges that one Douglas Chinoona was robbed of our Toyota Hilux and US$2400 purportedly for lobola, was also stolen. 
The matter of fact is that we did hire the vehicle in question (pictured below) to Chinoona on Sunday 27 October.
The following day, Monday 28 October, he called to inform us that the vehicle had been stolen at a lodge in Mabelreign and he reported the matter to Mabelreign Police Station. 
Upon investigations by the Vehicle Theft Squad (VTS), it emerged that Chinoona faked a robbery and connived with his friend to illegally export the car to Lusaka, Zambia and sell it there. 
Chinoona, who has since been arrested and is in Police custody facing charges of vehicle theft and the supply of false information to the Police, had neither money for lobola nor the intention to pay any -it was just a tactic he tried to use to fool Good 2 Go Car Rental, as well as the police.

From Rental To Robbery: Man Fakes Theft, Sells Rented Toyota GD6 Vehicle

A 32-year-old man from Nineva village, Mbembesi in Matabeleland North Province, who forced three teenagers to masturbate and ejaculate in condoms has been sentenced to an effective three-year jail sentence.
As reported by B-Metro, Phumulani Masango pleaded not guilty to six counts of theft, criminal insult, fraud and kidnapping before Bulawayo regional magistrate Joseph Mabeza but was convicted after trial. Said Mabeza:

The accused is sentenced to four years’ imprisonment for kidnapping and two years are suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
In the charge of criminal insult, the accused is sentenced to a one-year jail sentence for the two counts and for the charge of theft, you are ordered to pay a fine of US$300 or serve 30 days in prison.
Moreover, the accused is sentenced to a further six months’ imprisonment for fraud and this sentence will run concurrently with the sentence of criminal insult.

The court heard that on March 18, 2024, at Fingo Business Centre, Masango approached two juveniles returning home from school, introducing himself as a police officer.
He falsely accused them of being drunk, slapped them, and searched their bags.
Masango ordered the boys to follow him to the police base in Mbembesi, but he did not enter the charge office. Instead, he forced them into a Toyota Wish car, claiming they were headed to Bulawayo.
After driving about 200 meters, he demanded the juveniles’ cellphones, stating it was illegal for students to possess them.
The boys were locked in a room near a bar in the shopping centre. Masango later returned, claiming he would take them to the school authority for their safety.
Instead, he led them to his homestead, where he coerced them into wearing condoms and masturbating. When they struggled to ejaculate, he ordered them to urinate and repeat the act.
They ejaculated and he ordered them to remove condoms and place them on the floor and he promised to buy them food.
After the ordeal, the juveniles were released the following morning.
On March 29, 2024, Masango targeted another victim, forcing him to follow him to his homestead and subjecting him to similar sexual coercion.
The three juveniles eventually reported the incidents to the police, prompting an investigation into Masango’s actions.

A resident of Chinhoyi was robbed of 33 grammes of gold, US$200 in cash, two cellphones, and a vehicle by six armed assailants on Thursday morning.
The robbers were reportedly armed with a pistol, machetes, and batons.
Police have confirmed the incident, saying the suspects drove the stolen vehicle, a white Isuzu KB250 with the registration number AEG 8270, to the residence of a second victim, where they also stole various groceries and another cellphone. Said the ZRP:

Police in Chinhoyi are investigating a case of robbery which occurred at two homesteads in Bvudzijena Village, Chinhoyi on 31/10/24 at around 0200 hours.
Six unidentified male suspects who were armed with a pistol, machetes and button sticks, broke into a house and attacked the occupant before stealing 33 grams of gold, US$200.00 cash and two cell phones.
The suspect drove off in the first victim’s White Isuzu KB250 vehicle registration number AEG 8270 to the second victim’s place of residence where they stole various groceries and a cellphone.

33 Grammes Of Gold Stolen In Chinhoyi Home Robbery

Felix Mhona, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, has expressed sorrow over the death of seven people in a road traffic accident that occurred at Kuwadzana 7 turn-off in Harare on Thursday morning.
Seven people were killed and four others injured when the driver of a commuter omnibus (kombi) failed to give way at traffic lights and collided with a haulage truck. Said Mhona:

On behalf of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development and on my own behalf, I convey our heartfelt condolences to all the bereaved families. We mourn the demise of young men and women who perished in this crash.
Our thoughts are with all the families of the people who were killed in the crash and our prayers are with those injured as they continue to receive treatment and care. We wish them speedy recuperation.

Mhona said the accident is yet another call to all transport operators, motorists, and members of the public to adhere to road traffic rules and exercise caution on the road. He added:

Whilst the traffic lights at the intersection were working, it is concerning to note that the driver of the commuter omnibus proceeded when he was supposed to stop.
This was reckless and thus a blatant violation of our road traffic rules and regulations. Consequently, the driver is being charged with culpable homicide.
I wish to remind and warn all transport operators, motorists, and members of the public that the Ministry will take stern measures to preserve the safety and security of the commuting public.

Culpable homicide refers to the unlawful killing of another person without intent to kill but with a degree of negligence or recklessness. It is categorised as a less severe charge than murder, as it may involve circumstances where the perpetrator did not have the explicit intention to cause death.

Kombi Driver In Kuwadzana Accident Charged With Culpable Homicide

Obert Jiri, the Secretary for Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, has said the government had to terminate the presidential goat scheme after Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu delivered only 6,978 goats out of the promised 86,000, for which payment had already been made.
During his appearance before the parliamentary portfolio committee on Public Accounts on Monday, Jiri explained that the programme stalled due to the failure to deliver the remaining goats. He said:

The goats that were delivered to date, 6,978. The payment that was made was for the delivery of 86,000 goats.
That was the potential that could have been delivered. So out of 86,000, only 6,978 were delivered.
So, of course, the major bone of contention was this non-delivery, but before that, it was the price for goods, which we tried to negotiate within the confines of the contract to say that goods must go to this, and I think we had agreed to a decent price.
But even when we had agreed, the delivery could not happen.

Chimombe and Mpofu have been languishing in remand prison since June this year facing fraud charges in connection with the goats contract.
Prosecutors say Chimombe and Mpofu, who are facing fraud charges, forged a Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) tax clearance certificate, and a National Social Security Authority (NSSA) compliance certificate in the name of Blackdeck Private Limited.
Blackdeck is the company that was awarded the tender by the Ministry of Lands to supply goats under the presidential goat pass-on scheme.
The State is alleging that Blackdeck misrepresented that it was in full compliance with ZIMRA and NSSA requirements, yet investigations indicated the QR code and the reference on NSSA compliance were issued to a totally different company.
It is being further alleged that Blackdeck was deregistered from the NSSA system in January 2016.
Blackdeck was not issued with a ZIMRA tax clearance for 2021 and the QR code on the forged tax clearance belonged to a different company.
Prosecutors further alleged that in 2021, the government introduced the presidential goat pass-on scheme to alleviate poverty among the less privileged households across the country. Said Prosecutor Anesu Chirenje:

On September 3, 2021, the Ministry of Lands flighted a tender for the supply and delivery of goats for the presidential goat pass-on scheme with a closing date of September 17, 2021.
On November 16, 2021, the Ministry of Lands entered into a contract agreement with Blackdeck Livestock and Poultry Farming for the supply and delivery of 632,001 goats for the presidential goat pass-on scheme valued at US$87,757,168.
The ministry, believing that what the accused persons had presented to them was true, went on and transferred ZWL$901,294,200 and ZWL$698,705,800 on 21 April 2022 and 29 June 2022 respectively summing up to ZWL$1.6 billion which was equivalent to US$7,712,197.10 into Blackdeck Private Limited’s bank account number towards the purchasing of the said goats.

It is further alleged that Mpofu and Chimombe delayed the supply of the goats and they only managed to deliver a total of 4,208 goats valued at US$331,445.25 from the US$7,712,197.10 paid by the ministry and went on to convert the US$7,380,751.85 for their personal use.
Critics argue that Chimombe and Mpofu are being punished for revealing alleged corruption involving high-ranking State officials in the procurement of electoral materials for the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) ahead of the August 2023 general elections.

Top Civil Servant Blames Chimombe, Mpofu For Collapse Of Presidential Goat Scheme

The UK Court of Appeal dismissed an appeal by Zimbabwe and Spain to set aside the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) awards, each worth over $100 million.
As reported by <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200034318/zim-loses-us124m-border-timbers-appeal-case">NewsDay</a>, in January, the UK courts dismissed Zimbabwe’s application to set aside an October 2021 order.
The award, rendered on July 28, 2015, required Zimbabwe to reinstate properties to Border Timbers, pay $29.3 million, or, in default, pay $124 million, plus $1 million in moral damages.
On October 22, 2024, the Court of Appeal handed down its judgment in the joint appeals.
The central issue was whether the ICSID Convention or the Arbitration Act 1966 deprived foreign States of immunity under the State Immunity Act 1978.
The respondents in the appeals were investors in Spain and Zimbabwe, who obtained ex parte orders registering those awards.
Zimbabwe and Spain argued they were immune from the Court’s jurisdiction, while award creditors argued that immunity was displaced by statutory exceptions.
The Court of Appeal rejected the arguments by both first instance judges and decided that ICSID awards may not be opposed on grounds of State immunity.
The Court also rejected several other arguments by the investor parties but did not address Spain’s case regarding the arbitration agreement.
Zimbabwe’s non-immunity defences to enforcement have been remitted to the Commercial Court.
Zimbabwe indicated it would oppose the enforcement of the ICSID award on further grounds if it lost its challenge on State immunity. Part of the judgment reads:

It is suggested that these would come within the class of exceptional matters which were recognised in Micula as remaining open by reason of the award being treated like any other final judgment.
It, therefore, seems that such grounds have not been adjudicated upon, remain at large, and therefore Zimbabwe is right to say that its application to set aside the registration order should not have been dismissed but should have been the subject of further directions. I say nothing about the merit of the non-immunity defences.

Zimbabwe Loses Appeal In US$124 Million Border Timbers Case

Ishmael Chokurongerwa, leader of the Johane Masowe eChishanu Gorejena Penyeranyika Sect, appeared in court on Tuesday on charges of raping and impregnating three 14-year-old girls, all members of his congregation.
<a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/dna-testing-nails-madzibaba-ishmael/">The Herald</a> reported that DNA tests have confirmed Chokurongerwa, also known as Madzibaba Ishmael, as the father of the children born to the three victims.
Chokurongerwa, who resides in Lily Farm, Nyabira, was remanded out of custody until November 21 by Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje.
The first charge involves unlawful sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl between February last year and March 12 this year, resulting in her pregnancy and the birth of a baby girl.
The case came to light in March 2024 after a tip-off via social media, prompting a police investigation.
The girl was rescued from a safe house that Chokurongerwa had established in Mufakose, Harare, and taken to Kadoma General Hospital for age estimation and medical examination.
During interviews, the victim became hostile due to indoctrination by Chokurongerwa, who permitted married male congregants to engage in sexual relations with young and virgin girls.
The second charge involves another 14-year-old girl with whom Chokurongerwa had unlawful relations from 2018 to March 12, 2024, resulting in the birth of a baby boy in 2022.
The third charge pertains to a third 14-year-old girl, also unlawfully engaged multiple times, who gave birth to another baby boy.
Chokurongerwa, using his leadership powers and influence, unlawfully had sexual relations with a third 14-year-old without her consent on several occasions.
The abuse and subsequent pregnancies occurred between 2020 and March 2024, with all cases coming to light in March 2024.
In all three cases, DNA testing confirmed Chokurongerwa’s paternity of the children born to the victims.

DNA Evidence Links Ishmael Chokurongerwa To Impregnation Of Three 14-Year-Old Girls

Lawyers representing businessmen Moses Mpofu and Mike Chimombe, accused of US$7 million fraud related to a goat supply contract with the government, intend to call four witnesses to support their request to refer constitutional questions to the Constitutional Court regarding alleged infringements of their rights, reported <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/chimombe-mpofu-hearing-deferred-again/">The Herald</a>.
The defence intends to call Michael Reza, the Chairman of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission, accused of interfering with the right to bail, Henry Chapwanya, the Investigating officer, Tendayi Shonhai, the Acting chief public prosecutor, and Wicknell Chivayo.
The State does not oppose the defence’s move to call these witnesses, as some are State witnesses who are available.
The defence seeks to resolve constitutional issues before the trial begins, with the High Court starting hearings on the application.
On Tuesday, 29 October, High Court judge Justice Pisirayi Kwenda adjourned the case to November 11 for the defence to prepare summaries of the expected testimony from each witness, as per court rules.
Mpofu and Chimombe testified about Reza’s alleged interference with their bail, claiming that after the prosecution consented to bail, Reza’s actions led to the revocation of that consent.
The State had required them to provide title deeds, surrender passports, and pay US$1,000 bail each.
Under cross-examination, the duo struggled to explain how Chivayo was linked to the goat fraud case, conceding he had no direct connection but attempted to associate him with a different tender unrelated to the Presidential Goats Pass-on Scheme.
Mpofu and Chimombe face fraud charges for allegedly defrauding the government of over US$7 million through a fraudulent tender issued by the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development.
Their lawyers argue that external forces are influencing the prosecution, and the charges constitute unlawful imprisonment related to unmet contractual obligations.
Justice Kwenda will address the constitutional issues raised, which will determine whether the trial proceeds or is referred to the Constitutional Court.

Chimombe, Mpofu Hearing Deferred To November 11

Two men from Bikita and Marondera respectively, were each sentenced to 9 years in prison by a Mutare magistrate after being caught with a pangolin.
Pangolins are specially protected animals under the Parks and Wildlife Act, and possessing one illegally can result in severe penalties, including a mandatory minimum sentence of 9 years imprisonment.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Tapiwa Machaya (43) from Bikita and Rodrick Murambisi (32) from Marondera appeared before the Mutare Magistrates’ Court for contravening the Parks and Wildlife Act.
On July 16, 2024, CID Mutare received information that the accused had a pangolin and were looking for a buyer.
Detectives, posing as buyers, contacted Murambisi using a number provided by a whistleblower and arranged to meet at Manica Skyview Hotel.
The detectives observed Murambisi disembarking from a Toyota Aqua and invited him into their vehicle. He stated he needed US$6,000 for the pangolin. The first accused, Machaya, was waiting nearby with a brown satchel.
Once the price was agreed upon, the detectives revealed their identities and searched, discovering a pangolin in a brown sack within Machaya’s satchel.
The accused could not produce a permit authorising them to possess the pangolin, leading to their arrest. The pangolin, weighing 4.2 kg and valued at US$5,000, was recovered.

Two men were sent to prison for 9 years for being caught with a pangolin, a protected animal. They were found guilty of breaking the law. The police acted like they wanted to buy the pangolin from the men, but then they caught them red-handed. The pangolin was found in a bag, and the men didn't have permission to have it. So, they were arrested and sent to prison. Pangolins are special animals, and it is important to protect them. The men did something wrong, and that's why they got in trouble.

Two Pangolin Poachers Jailed For 9 Years

A Harare magistrate has ordered Lobels (Private) Limited to pay US$14,000 in damages to former employee Hardlife Chauke, who was wrongfully accused and arrested for theft, reported <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200034279/ex-employee-wins-lawsuit-against-lobels">NewsDay</a>.
Magistrate Sharon Mashavira ruled that Lobels had maliciously prosecuted Chauke after he was falsely accused of stealing US$35,423.27 from the company.
Chauke’s troubles began in October 2022 when Lobels alleged he had collected money from customers and converted a significant amount for personal use, leading to his arrest and prosecution.
Lobels, represented by Nyasha Nyakurera, claimed that Chauke had collected US$35 423,27 from customers and banked US$2 184,00 before converting US$33 751,27 to his own use.
Chauke was acquitted on October 5, 2023, after the State failed to prove its case, having presented three witnesses.
Following his acquittal, Chauke sued Lobels for US$40,000 for damages related to malicious arrest, detention, and legal costs.
The case went to trial after the parties could not resolve the issue amicably. Chauke testified that Lobels had no reasonable grounds for the theft charges, which led to his arrest and damaged his reputation.
Chauke sought US$25,000 for general damages, US$10,000 for legal costs, and US$5,000 for loss of business due to the allegations.
The court awarded Chauke US$14,000, including US$10,000 for legal fees and US$4,000 for malicious prosecution, but dismissed his claim for US$5,000 due to lack of merit.
Lobels was also ordered to pay interest on the awarded amount from the date of summons issuance until full payment, along with ordinary court costs.

Lobels Ordered To Pay US$14,000 In Damages To Former Employee

Two Presidential Guard and three Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) officers are facing allegations of extorting US$2,000 from a Chinese miner, Enjie Zhang, at the Murodzi mining claim in Mazowe.
As reported by <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/cio-presidential-guard-officers-up-for-us2000-blackmail-against-chinese-miner/">ZimLive</a>, the suspects, identified as Chamunorwa Victor Chinorwiwa (32), Hilary Maravanyika (28), Tawanda Ngoshi (39), Samuel Zvishamiso Simbabure, and Respect Zuva, allegedly posed as members of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) who were on duty.
The five, also facing robbery charges, were scheduled to be back in court on Tuesday for a ruling on their application challenging placement on remand.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority, on October 19, 2024, around midday, the group connived and proceeded to the Murodzi mining claim in Mazowe.
They allegedly ordered the miner Enjie Zhang and his 25 workers to gather and sit down in one place. Said the NPA in an outline of the charges:

Accused person one (Simbabure) and his accomplices ordered the complainant and the gathered mine workers to remain still as he would proceed to shoot them if they attempted to flee whilst showing a pistol which was placed on his waist.
The accused persons ordered the complainant and his fellow Chinese nationals who were present, Jinliang Xue, Hang Hainglin and Shan Dong Zhou to produce their identity documents, mining certificates and work permits.
Complainant and his Chinese counterparts produced their identity documents but failed to produce the mining certificates and work permits which they stated were in the custody of the company general manager, one identified as Hu, who was in Harare.
The accused persons accused the complainant and his fellow workers of conducting illegal mining operations in the area and demanded US$2,000 cash from the Chinese nationals so that they could release them.
They ordered the complainant to contact Hu so that she could bring the needed bribe money and the complainant complied.

The court heard that Simbabure communicated with Hu using the complainant’s phone to arrange for the bribe money to be delivered to Ngoshi.
Hu then contacted informant Godfrey Zambuko, who works for Holdenfield Investments in Harare, instructing him to go to Zimbabwe House and hand over the US$2,000 bribe to Ngoshi. Said the NPA:

Informant indeed proceeded to Zimbabwe House where he gave the US$2,000 bribe money to Ngoshi who is currently at large.

According to court papers, one Chinese national, Hang Hainglin, escaped from the mining site and went to a nearby mine also owned by Holdenfields Investments.
There, he was given US$1,000 by another Chinese national to deliver to the accused persons in exchange for their freedom. Said the prosecution:

Kelvinator Don Paricha, employed as a Chinese company interpreter, went to the accused persons and gave them US$800 which resulted in the release of the complainant and the other mine workers. The accused persons then drove off in their getaway motor vehicle.

On October 21, 2024, Simbabure called Godfrey Zambuko from his mobile phone, inviting him to Zimbabwe House to discuss the need for an additional bribe payment. Said the NPA:

On October 22, 2024, the informant then advised the President’s Department about the issue and the two went to Zimbabwe House where they met accused one and two leading to their arrest.
Upon arrest the two accused persons implicated four accomplices who are still at large.

Presidential Guard, CIO Officers Accused Of Extorting Chinese Miner

The High Court of Zimbabwe has convicted Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister July Moyo and Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development Minister Frederick Shava, for unlawfully borrowing over ZWG200 million from critical funds without prior approval from the Treasury.
The ministers were sued by Marvellous Kumalo, a former opposition legislator, who accused them of violating the Public Finance Management (Treasury Instructions), 2019, and the Constitution.
Kumalo argued that the ministers borrowed money from several government funds intended for the welfare of vulnerable populations, including children, the elderly, and skilled workers, without seeking the necessary Treasury approval.
The application was filed on September 24, 2024, at the Harare High Court, with Kumalo represented by Tonderai Bhatasara of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights. He claimed that the ministers’ actions violated principles of transparency and accountability.
The borrowings, which occurred between 2019 and 2023, were detailed in the 2023 Auditor-General’s Report, highlighting the ministers’ disregard for legal procedures.
On October 18, 2024, Justice Gladys Mhuri ordered both ministers to reimburse ZWG206,370,840 to the relevant funds within three months.
Moyo was ordered to repay ZWL$515,657,986 from the Sustainable Livelihoods Fund, ZWL$3,544,915 from the Child Welfare Fund, and ZWL$153,468 from the Older Persons Fund.
Shava was ordered to repay ZWL$5,250 from the Industrial Training and Trade Testing Fund and ZWL$2,123,558 from the Skilled Manpower Trade Testing and Certification Fund.
The court also mandated both ministers to seek Treasury authorisation for all previously borrowed amounts within 60 days of the ruling.

Kudakwashe Choga, a 50-year-old resident of Mvuma, recently appeared in court for stealing 364 units of electricity from the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC), a subsidiary of ZESA Holdings.
Choga was charged in the Mvuma Magistrates’ Court with violating the Electricity Act, which prohibits the unlawful abstraction or diversion of electricity current.
The Act states that it is illegal to “abstract or divert any electric current or cause any electric current to be abstracted or diverted, or knowingly use any electric current which has been unlawfully abstracted or diverted.”
The court heard that from March 26 to May 2, 2024, Choga tampered with the electricity line conductor supplying power to his meter.
He connected the conductor directly to his load, effectively bypassing the meter and avoiding payment for the electricity consumed.
As a result of his actions, Choga caused ZETDC to suffer a loss of 364 units of electricity, valued at ZWL$1,237.60.
He was sentenced to six months in prison, with four months suspended on the condition that he restitutes the ZWL$1,237.60 by November 30, 2024.

A 49-year-old man from Lalapanzi has been fined US$300 by a magistrate for operating an unregistered private college.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed that Munyaradzi Marufu appeared before the Mvuma Magistrates’ Court, where he faced charges for violating section 42(1)(a) in conjunction with section 42(3) of the Education Act, Chapter 25:04.
This law prohibits the establishment, operation, or maintenance of unregistered correspondence colleges and independent colleges, as well as certain related advertisements. Said the NPA:

The accused person was charged with unlawfully and illegally establishing, operating, or maintaining an independent college for a reward without being registered or approved by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
It is alleged that on an unknown date between January 2023 and October 2024, at Lalapanzi, the accused person, Munyaradzi Marufu, unlawfully and illegally established, operated, or maintained “Restoration Academy,” an independent college, without being registered or approved by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, in contravention of the Act.
It is also alleged that the college was operating with approximately 140 to 150 students and 9 teachers teaching various subjects. The college is a high school with four classes: Form 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Marufu pleaded guilty to the charge and was convicted. He was sentenced to pay a fine of US$300, with a four-month prison sentence imposed in the event of non-payment.

A 23-year-old man from Bulawayo has been sentenced to four years in prison after kidnapping a three-year-old girl to use her in a money ritual, based on instructions from his traditional healer.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the accused, Tawanda Maronze, appeared before the Western Commonage Magistrates’ Court facing kidnapping charges.
The court heard that on October 26, 2024, Maronze abducted the young girl and took her to a bushy area located 5 kilometres from her home.
However, his plans were thwarted when the child’s aunt, driving along Solusi Road with friends, spotted Maronze carrying the girl. The aunt confronted Maronze.
During this encounter, he confessed that he intended to rape the child for ritualistic purposes. This shocking revelation led to his arrest and subsequent sentencing.

Police in Harare have recovered four firearms from suspects linked to a series of armed robberies on the 9th and 10th of this month.
According to Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the recovered firearms include a 9mm P38 Walther Pistol, an Airgun KWC Super Cat, a Retay MOD 92 P.A.K, and a Retay 84 FS P.A.K.
The firearms were found following the arrest of six suspects: Tapiwa Matope (23), Wonder Matope (42), Talkmore Masanga (45), Tafadzwa Kupeta (22), Steven Mahachi (51), and Rashid Adam Chipanga (30). The suspects are linked to four armed robbery cases in Harare and Chitungwiza.
Commissioner Nyathi revealed that the firearms had been stolen from a complainant at the Copa-Cabana bus terminus in Harare’s Central Business District after the suspects posed as police officers and arrested the complainant. Reads the statement:

The other suspects, Tapiwa Matope, Wonder Matope and Talkmore Masaga were arrested between 11th October 2024 and 21st October 2024 after Tapiwa Matope was found in possession of a cellphone stolen in one of the robbery cases in Dzivarasekwa on 09th October 2024.
Investigations by the Police indicated that the firearms were stolen from a complainant at the Copa-Cabana bus terminus in Harare Central Business District after the suspects had posed as police officers and arrested the complainant.
The suspects are clearing a case of robbery which occurred in Dzivarasekwa on 09th October 2024 where USD3 250.00 cash and two cellphones were stolen and another case of robbery which occurred on 10th October 2024 at Manyame Park, Chitungwiza where USD1 500.00 cash and a cellphone were stolen.
They are also linked to two separate robbery cases which occurred in Hopley Zone 6 on 10th October 2024 where a total of USD 1 800.00 cash was stolen.
