A vehicle belonging to Mashonaland West senator and former cabinet minister Prisca Mupfumira was seized in Harare’s Avondale West on December 11.
According to <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/gunmen-seize-senator-prisca-mupfumiras-car-after-kidnapping-driver/">ZimLive</a>, Mupfumira had sent her driver, Edmore Mashasha, to collect church uniforms from tailors on Ascot Road at around 7 AM.
While waiting for the gate to be opened, Mashasha, who was driving a royal blue Isuzu double cab with registration AGA 6969, was approached by men armed with pistols who took control of the vehicle. Police said:

The accused persons pointed at the complainant’s head ordering him to shift from the driver’s seat and he complied.
One of the accused persons took charge of the vehicle while the other accused person blindfolded the complainant, tied his hands and pushed the complainant to the back seat.
The accused person drove off at high speed and later dumped the complainant at an unknown location along Mutoko Road.

Mashasha successfully untied himself and received help from a passerby who provided him with a phone to contact Mupfumira. The police were notified.
The theft of the Isuzu, valued at US$70,000, is under investigation by the CID Vehicle Theft Squad, which is leading the case.

A Canadian diplomat, Jennifer Lee Boudreau, has reported a break-in at her residence to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), allegedly authorised by Canada’s ambassador to Zimbabwe, Adler Aristilde.
According to an internal police memo from Marlborough Police Station in Harare, obtained by <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/canadian-diplomat-tells-police-ambassador-directed-break-in-at-her-house/">ZimLive</a>, Boudreau returned to her home on Quorn Avenue in Mt Pleasant at around 4 PM on December 6 and noticed her wardrobe door was open.
She questioned her security guard, Last Murapa, who initially claimed ignorance but later admitted knowing about the incident.
Murapa told police that earlier that day, around 10:30 AM, while Boudreau was at work, the embassy’s regional security manager, Franis Limbikani, arrived at the property with a duplicate key and accessed her apartment.
Limbikani allegedly retrieved the hard drive from the closed-circuit television (CCTV) system stored inside the wardrobe, replaced it with a blank hard drive, and instructed Murapa not to record his visit in the log book or inform anyone about it.
On December 7, Boudreau confronted Ambassador Aristilde about the incident. She was shocked to learn that Aristilde not only knew about the unlawful entry but had directed it.
The ambassador had instructed Jennifer Jacob, the embassy’s property officer, to take a duplicate key and retrieve the CCTV hard drive from Boudreau’s apartment. Jacob then ordered Limbikani to carry out the task.
Boudreau reported the incident to the foreign office in Canada, which acknowledged receipt of her report and promised to initiate an investigation. Reads the memo:

A Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (ZUPCO) employee, Amon Manjengwa, allegedly lured a woman seeking employment into his office at the company’s depot in Belvedere, Harare, where he raped her. Following the incident, the two lived together as a couple for a year.
The situation took a turn last month when Manjengwa, 44, ended the relationship and married another woman. This prompted the 22-year-old victim to report the rape to the police.
The victim alleged that she had gone to the ZUPCO Belvedere Depot in December 2023 to apply for a job as a bus conductor.
Manjengwa allegedly raped her and assured her that he would marry her and assist her in securing the job.
After living together for a year, the victim was left devastated when Manjengwa married someone else. This led her to report the alleged rape to the police. Manjengwa was arrested on Tuesday.
Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Harare Province, confirmed the case to <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/zupco-employee-raped-job-seeker-took-her-in-as-his-wife-then-dumped-her/">H-Metro</a>. He said:

Circumstances are that sometime in December 2023, the complainant went to drop off her Curriculum Vitae at ZUPCO, wishing to apply for a job as a conductor.
The accused person approached the complainant and told her that he could help her get employed.
The accused person asked the complainant to follow him into his office and she agreed.
Whilst in the office, the accused person locked the door and instructed the complainant to give him her National Identification Card.
The accused person told the complainant that he wanted to have sexual intercourse with her first but she refused.
The accused person then pushed the complainant to the floor and raped her once without protection.
After the act, the accused person begged the complainant not to report the matter and promised to marry her.
They stayed together as husband and wife until November this year when the accused person dumped the complainant and married another wife.

ZUPCO Employee Allegedly Rapes Job Seeker, Marries Her, Then Leaves

Former ZANU PF youth leader Lewis Matutu appeared in court on Tuesday on charges of fraud involving US$150,000.
Matutu is accused of stealing shares from Shusib Investments, a local mining company.
He was arraigned before Harare Magistrate Isheanesu Matova but was not asked to plead and was remanded out of custody on free bail.
Matutu allegedly conspired with Blessing Kusangaya, Tafadzwa Kusangaya, Muzimba Muhamba, and Chikwasha Muhamba to execute the fraud.
The group reportedly prepared and backdated annual returns dated April 30, 2018, which were backdated to 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2018, forging the signatures of the complainant and a third party, Lyton Shumba.
These fraudulent returns were filed with the Registrar of Companies, falsely indicating changes in shareholding and directorship, allowing the accused to claim majority shares.
The alleged fraud came to light on September 30, 2024, when the Department of Parks and Wildlife informed the complainant of a suspension of mining operations due to the accused’s claims of ownership.
Using the illegally obtained shares, the accused removed the complainant from directorship during an annual general meeting on November 19, 2024, and resolved to change the company address.
The complainant is said to have suffered a financial loss of US$150,000, with no recovery of the stolen assets reported.

A 26-year-old man from Harare, Ignatius Chindudzi, has appeared in court facing serious allegations of raping a vendor who had visited his office to collect a debt.
The case was brought before Harare magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa. According to the State outline, the incident occurred in October when the complainant arrived at Chindudzi’s office in the Central Business District to collect her money.
Upon her arrival, she found Chindudzi alone. When she asked for payment, he asked why she had declined his love proposal.
In a troubling turn of events, Chindudzi allegedly stood up, locked the door, and spread a blanket on the floor. 
He instructed the woman to lie on the blanket, but she refused.
In a shocking act of violence, Chindudzi then pushed her to the ground and raped her. After the assault, he told his victim that he would return but left the office instead.
The complainant waited nearly an hour for him to return, but when he did not appear, she left the building and returned home.
A few days later, she discovered she had contracted a sexually transmitted infection. Distressed by her situation, she confided in her cousin, who confronted Chindudzi about the incident.
The complainant’s cousin then filed a police report, leading to Chindudzi’s arrest.

Vendor Raped While Collecting Debt

Chaos erupted at a liquor wholesale warehouse on Khami Road in Kelvin North, Bulawayo, on Tuesday night when seven unidentified men armed with a rifle stormed the premises, leaving multiple workers injured.
The incident occurred around 8:30 PM when the robbers jumped over the perimeter wall and confronted the security guard at the main gate.
In a panic, the guard attempted to flee but was struck in the head with an unknown object, resulting in a serious injury.
The gang made their way into the warehouse, where they encountered a general employee and assaulted him.
Once inside, the perpetrators fired several gunshots, instilling fear as they ordered all workers to lie on the ground.
According to Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, the deputy spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Bulawayo Province, the robbers managed to escape with US$521, R200, and a satchel full of whiskey bottles before fleeing through the dispatch entrance.
As of Wednesday, no arrests had been made, but police investigations are ongoing.

At a liquor warehouse in Bulawayo, seven armed men robbed the place, hurting workers. They jumped over the wall and attacked the security guard. They also injured another worker and fired shots. Violent Armed Robbery Shakes Liquor Warehouse In Bulawayo

ZANU PF official Kudzanai Chipanga appeared before Rusape Magistrates Court on Tuesday, facing charges of theft.
Chipanga, a former ZANU PF Youth Secretary, is accused of stealing Presidential Pfumvudza inputs worth US$11,200 from the Department of Agriculture Research and Extension (AREX) in Makoni District.
He appeared before Rusape regional magistrate Barbra Mateko, who remanded him on US$400 bail to January 30.
Prosecutors did not oppose the granting of bail to the ZANU PF official, unlike opposition members who are often held in pre-trial detention for extended periods, sometimes up to 12 months or more.
Chipanga was ordered to reside at his Wakefield Farm in Headlands, report on Monday and Friday every week at Rusape Rural Police Station until the end of his trial, and not interfere with witnesses or investigations.
He was represented by Mutare lawyer Chris Ndlovu of Gonese and Ndlovu Legal Practitioners, while Event Dhliwayo prosecuted.
Allegations are that on November 27, AREX received 200x50kg bags of ZFC Compound D fertilisers, 100x5kg of SC649 seed maize, and 500 packets of vegetable seed from the Grain Marketing Board Rusape Depot, meant for distribution in Ward 38 in Headlands under the Pfumvudza programme.
The inputs were loaded into a MAN truck (AFJ 6795), driven by Trust Mangwanda, who ferried the inputs to Lawrencedale Primary School, where there was a ZANU PF star rally.
Dhliwayo alleged that after the rally, Chipanga and his alleged accomplices, Innocent Magutakuona, Michael Musekiwa, and Julius Chipfupa, who are still at large, told Noria Gashu of AREX that they would share and distribute the inputs to the people, claiming they had sourced the inputs.

ZANU PF Official, Kudzanai Chipanga, Arrested

A 24-year-old woman from Gweshanga village in Lupane, Matabeleland North Province, has been convicted of aggravated indecent assault after breastfeeding her employer’s two-year-old child.
Khaliphile Nyoni appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Joseph Mabeza last Wednesday, where she pleaded guilty to the charge.
During the proceedings, the magistrate inquired why she had breastfed the child when she was not the mother. Nyoni claimed that the child would often take her breast and start sucking. She said:

The child always took my breast and would start sucking. I told the mother and she did nothing about the issue. I used to sleep with the child and he would suck my breast every night, that is how he got used to the deed.

It was the State’s case that on December 1, the baby’s father discovered a photo on Nyoni’s cellphone showing her breastfeeding his son.
This prompted him to report the incident to the police, resulting in her arrest. Nyoni has since been remanded in custody, awaiting sentencing.

A 29-year-old man from Pfupajena, Chegutu has been arrested and charged with attempted rape after allegedly threatening a woman (21) with an axe.
In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said that on 29 November 2024, at 1 PM, the 21-year-old complainant and her two friends encountered the accused, who was armed with a small axe, while walking from a clinic.
The accused allegedly intimidated the complainant, instructing her to bend down, and then attempted to engage in non-consensual sexual activity. Said the NPA:

The complainant’s friends intervened by strangling him and they managed to overpower him and struck him with his own axe.
They reported the matter to the police leading to the accused person’s arrest. The accused person was remanded in custody to 16 December 2024.

South Africa’s Border Management Authority (BMA) has arrested a kombi driver allegedly trying to smuggle undocumented Zimbabwean children into the country through the Beitbridge port of entry.
According to BMA spokesperson Mmemme Mogotsi, the minibus taxi driver was carrying 25 undocumented foreigners when he was intercepted on Monday.
The passengers included 20 children aged between five and 14, who were unlawfully transported under dangerous and inhuman conditions. Said Mogotsi:

The vehicle used was impounded. The driver has been charged and is in police custody and a conveyance fine of R375,000 has been issued in accordance with the Immigration Act.
Following standard protocols, the children were handed over to the Zimbabwean child welfare authorities for their safety and care while investigations continued.

BMA acting commissioner Jane Thupana stated that the operation underscores the BMA’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks that exploit vulnerable individuals, especially children. She said:

The trafficking and smuggling of people undermines human dignity and border security and the BMA remains vigilant in its efforts to safeguard South Africa’s ports of entry and protect those at risk.

South African Kombi Driver Arrested For Smuggling Children From Zimbabwe

A 22-year-old man, Benson Macharangwanda, has been charged with murder following the alleged killing of an intruder in Chitungwiza. The incident occurred around 4:30 AM on December 2.
It is alleged that Macharangwanda woke up when an anti-theft alarm on his phone was activated.
In the Harare Magistrate Court on Monday, it was revealed that Macharangwanda had placed US$250 in the pouch of his phone. Upon hearing the alarm, he discovered the intruder attempting to steal his phone through the window.
Macharangwanda pursued the intruder, guided by the sound of the alarm, and confronted him, demanding the return of his phone. The intruder claimed it had fallen inside his room, leading Macharangwanda to take him there.
A struggle ensued, during which the intruder produced a knife and attempted to stab Macharangwanda. However, with the timely shout of his landlady warning him of the imminent attack, Macharangwanda was able to block the knife.
In the scuffle, he managed to retrieve his phone from the intruder’s shorts. The intruder was subsequently escorted from the premises but soon began to complain of injuries he had sustained during the fight.
He was taken to Chitungwiza Hospital by his relatives, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Macharangwanda has been remanded in custody as he awaits indictment from the High Court.

Chitungwiza Man Faces Murder Charge After He Allegedly Killed An Intruder

The United States and Britain have sanctioned individuals and businesses linked to global gold smuggling and money laundering networks in Zimbabwe.
Kamlesh Pattni, a key figure in the gold industry, is among those sanctioned. He is accused of smuggling gold from Zimbabwe and facilitating illicit activities by bribing officials and masking ownership through a network of businesses.
The US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctioned Pattni and 27 other individuals and businesses on International Anti-Corruption Day. These sanctions target global gold smuggling and money laundering activities.
Pattni was exposed in Al Jazeera’s “Gold Mafia” documentary, aired in March last year, where he was linked to smuggling gold from Zimbabwe to the United Arab Emirates.
The US Treasury Department stated that Pattni’s activities have robbed Zimbabwe’s citizens of the benefits from their natural resources while enriching corrupt officials and criminal actors.
The “Gold Mafia” documentary also featured Uebert Angel, Zimbabwe’s ambassador-at-large, who was secretly recorded promising to help launder US$1.2 billion in illicit funds.
Acting Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Bradley Smith said:

Across the globe, when corrupt actors like Pattni choose to exploit openings in governance structures to benefit themselves and their cronies, communities suffer and public trust is undermined.

The UK has also imposed sanctions on Pattni “to tackle dirty money, this time targeting the illicit gold trade”. The UK said in a statement:

Today’s sanctions will disrupt and deter the illicit gold trade by imposing asset freezes on five individuals, including infamous British-Kenyan gold smuggler Kamlesh Pattni and his enablers.
Pattni smuggles illicit gold out of southern Africa for use in money laundering and was implicated in the Goldenberg corruption scandal in the 1990s.

Seke Woman Raped After Responding To Fake Job Ad

A 50-year-old man from New Magwegwe in Bulawayo, Innocent Kakarahwa, has been arrested for the unlawful detention and sexual assault of an underage girl.
In a statement, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, the acting spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Bulawayo Province, said the two victims, aged 15 and 14, both reside in Magwegwe North, Bulawayo. She said:

Sometime in November 2024 the two complainants who were from Magwegwe North going to Lobengula West met Kakarahwa who was driving along Intemba road.
He offered them transport and they agreed. On their way to Lobengula West, Kakarahwa showed interest in the complainants.
He promised to secure jobs for them since the complainants lied to the accused persons that they were looking for jobs.
On the 2nd of December 2024 around 1130 hours, Kakarahwa phoned the complainants and requested to see them.
He promised to pick the two complainants around 1400 hours at Konron Shopping Centre Lobengula West, however, he delayed until 2000 hours.
He took the two complainants to Donnington West, Bulawayo where he gave them a room to sleep and food and he then left.
On the 3rd day of December 2024 around 8pm, he proceeded back to where he left them and took one of the complainant out of the room and proceeded to his vehicle which was parked outside the building and adjusted the seat backwards and requested to have sexual intercourse with her. Kakarahwa had sexual intercourse with the complainant once with protection.
After the act the complainant returned to the room where the other complainant was and the accused person left.
On the 5th of December 2024 around 8am the accused went back where he had left the complainants, who then decided to call their parents and ask for forgiveness. Kakarahwa directed the complainants that they should not expose him.
He drove the complainant to town and gave them US$2 for transport to their respective residential areas.
The complainants related the incidents to their parents and a police report was then made leading to the arrest of the accused person.

Assistant Inspector Msebele urged parents and guardians to teach their children not to trust strangers to avoid such incidents. She also warned potential offenders that they will face the full force of the law.

A Chinese man believed to be the mastermind behind the illegal cremation of a woman in Harare has been deported.
According to <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/zimbabwe-deports-chinese-mafia-boss-linked-to-illegal-cremation/">ZimLive</a>, Chen Mo Yun, 44, was flown out of Harare last Wednesday at the request of Chinese investigators.
In May, five Chinese nationals—Chen Ying, 44, Xia Wexing, 40, Guo Weilin, 32, Yan Qi, 36, and Wang Huasheng, 35—were fined US$200 each after being convicted for the unlawful cremation of Huang Tian Song without obtaining consent from her relatives. Following their conviction, they were immediately deported to China.
It is alleged that upon their return, the five men were further interrogated by Chinese authorities, during which they implicated Yun as the mastermind behind the operation. They claimed that he was running a mafia-style operation in Harare.
Huang Tian Song had died mysteriously at the Trauma Centre in Borrowdale, Harare, on May 22. The court revealed that the five men had conspired to obtain a burial order by falsely claiming they had permission from her family. However, it remains unclear what they were attempting to conceal by cremating Song’s body.

The robbers then forced their way into the offices, where they used grinders to break into cash safes.
The suspects made off with US$7,000 and R18,000 in cash.
The ZRP is urging anyone with information about the robbery to come forward and report it to the nearest police station.

Intruders Steal US$11,000 And R20,000 From United Refineries

The High Court has ordered former world boxing champion, Charles Manyuchi, to pay US$18,000 in damages to Tapiwa Munyaka, the husband of a woman he impregnated after an adulterous affair.
As reported by <a href="https://masvingomirror.com/boxer-manyuchi-to-pay-us18k-for-impregnating-married-woman-at-gym/">The Mirror</a>, Manyuchi had been training the young, married woman, Chengeto Viola Munyaka, at his gym.
On Tuesday, Justice Zisengwe, sitting in the High Court in Masvingo, granted the damages in a default judgment made in favour of Munyaka.
The affair was uncovered in 2021 when Tapiwa Munyaka, a regional manager at a microfinance bank in Masvingo, went through his wife’s phone and discovered explicit pictures and images documenting the sexual escapades between Manyuchi and his wife.
Munyaka claims that the affair severely damaged his self-esteem and exposed him to sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV, as his wife and Manyuchi did not use condoms.
Court documents reveal that Manyuchi’s gym operated out of Flamboyant, a Regency Group hotel in Masvingo, and that Munyaka’s seven-year marriage to Viola has now broken down irreparably.
Ironically, Munyaka had been supportive of his wife’s involvement at Manyuchi’s gym, even accompanying her there.
He also allowed Viola to become one of the faces of Manyuchi’s upcoming boxing matches. Together with a team of Manyuchi’s supporters, Viola would visit various holiday resorts, including Kariba, to celebrate the boxer’s victories. Reads part of Munyaka’s application:

The adultery damages awarded in this case are the highest ever granted by the High Court in Masvingo.
Charles Manyuchi, the former world boxing champion, received a letter of demand from Munyaka in November 2022, but he failed to respond, leading to an application for a default judgment.
Munyaka claimed that his wife, Chengeto, fell pregnant by Manyuchi and had an abortion. He had paid lobola for Chengeto in 2015, and they solemnized their marriage in 2019, having two children together.
Munyaka further alleged that Manyuchi had recorded his sexual encounters with Chengeto and that the affair became widely known among his colleagues, severely affecting his reputation and self-esteem.
Munyaka sought a total of US$50,000 in damages: US$30,000 for consortium (compensation for the impact on relationship, companionship, and support lost) and US$20,000 for contumelia (damages for insulting language or treatment). However, the judge awarded Munyaka US$8,000 for consortium and US$10,000 for contumelia.
The affair reportedly began when the couple joined Manyuchi’s training group in 2021. Munyaka stated that Manyuchi selected Chengeto to participate in advertisements and promotions for his match against Ugandan boxer Mohamed Sebyala.
Munyaka, who was represented by Charles Ndlovu of Ndlovu and Hwacha Legal Practitioners, discovered the affair towards the end of 2021.
Despite sending a letter of demand to Manyuchi in 2022, there was no response or attempt to apologize, suggesting that Manyuchi was unconcerned with the matter’s outcome.
Following Manyuchi’s lack of response to the two-year claim, Munyaka applied for a default judgment last month.
Manyuchi is a former World Boxing Federation (WBF), Global Boxing Union, World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver welterweight, and World Alliance Boxing Association (WABA) champion.

A 22-year-old woman from Kwekwe, Rumbidzai Gunhu, tragically lost her one-week-old baby to a stranger in what is suspected to be a case of kidnapping.
Gunhu was returning from the hospital with her infant when she encountered a woman who offered to help carry the baby.
Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Midlands Province, confirmed the incident. He said (via <a href="https://newsday.co.zw/southerneye/local/article/200035945/woman-loses-baby-to-stranger">Southern Eye</a>):

Yes, there is a case of kidnapping of a seven-day-old female infant to an unknown female adult who purported to assist the mother in carrying the baby from the Kwekwe District Hospital home.

Kwekwe Woman Loses Baby To Stranger

ZIFA presidential hopeful Gift Banda appeared at the Western Commonage Court in Bulawayo this Saturday, facing allegations of forging an Ordinary Level certificate.
The 54-year-old, a former Bulawayo deputy mayor and ex-Njube Lobengula MP, was arrested and detained overnight at Western Commonage Police Station before being brought to court.
Banda’s lawyers argued that the charges were unfounded, claiming there was no evidence directly linking their client to the alleged forgery.
The state did not oppose bail, and Magistrate Sibongile Msipa-Marondedze granted Banda bail set at US$500. He was also ordered to reside at his given address until the case is resolved and instructed not to interfere with any witnesses.
The case was remanded to 27 December 2024.

Banda Granted US$500 Bail

A gang of three suspected armed robbers have been arrested in Bulawayo. Mkhaliphi Ncube, alias Mlonitshwa (25), of Cowdray Park, and Givemore Dladla (23) and Timothy Dube (28), both of 1257 Mbundane, were arrested on Tuesday.
According to CID spokesperson Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri, the suspects would carry out their raids while the occupants were asleep, targeting homes for theft. She said (via <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/three-bulawayo-robbers-arrested/">The Herald</a>):
On November 14 at around 2:30 AM, the trio, together with their accomplices who are still at large pounced on the complainants who were fast asleep.
They damaged burglar bars and windows before gaining entry into the house, where they indiscriminately assaulted the complainants demanding cash and other valuables.
Fearing for their safety, the complainants surrendered $2 500, 10 cellphones, two metal detector batteries and four power banks.
On Tuesday, detectives from CID Homicide Bulawayo received information that the suspects were involved in the robbery and a follow-up was made leading to their arrest. Said Detective Insp Muteweri:
A Honda Fit Registration number AFC 1284 and three axes used in the commission of the crime were subsequently recovered. Also recovered were four cell phones, which the complainants have positively identified.
The suspects are also clearing another robbery case that occurred in Pumula, Bulawayo where they also robbed another complainant and got away with valuables.
In a related case, the CID Homicide team has arrested Lloyd Mujeketa (25) for vehicle theft, which occurred on Sunday.
The victim had left his Honda Fit unattended and unlocked, only to discover it missing upon his return.
Mujeketa was apprehended on Tuesday in central Bulawayo while driving the stolen vehicle.

Aspiring Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) president, Gift Banda (54), was arrested on Thursday on charges of forging an Ordinary Level certificate.
As reported by the <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/gift-banda-arrested-over-fake-o-level-certificate/">Chronicle</a>, Banda, a former ZIFA vice-president and interim president, was taken into custody and spent the night at Western Commonage Police Station, where he assisted with investigations.
According to Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, Banda, also a former Bulawayo councillor and deputy mayor, is facing allegations of forgery.
The forged document claims that Banda passed the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) tests in 1986 at Mpopoma High School in Bulawayo.
However, at that time, the school, like many others across the country, only offered Cambridge examinations, as ZIMSEC was not established until 1996.
Banda is among several high-profile individuals who have expressed interest in running for the ZIFA presidency in elections set for early next year.
One of the requirements for candidates is to demonstrate possession of five Ordinary Level passes, and it is believed that Banda does not meet this criterion.
In connection with the case, another individual, Anele Zikhali from Bulawayo, was also arrested on Thursday for allegedly producing the fake certificate.

Aspiring ZIFA President Gift Banda Arrested For Allegedly Forging O-Level Certificate

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of four people in connection with the desecration of 380 graves and corpses at Restland Memorial Park in Rianham, Harare.
ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi revealed that Edwin Muronzi, Tinashe Chiguma (32), Moses Gwanya (19), and Kudakwashe Humure (21) were apprehended for their involvement in violating graves and human remains between 2015 and 2024.
It is alleged that the suspects, working as gravediggers, excavated existing graves to make space for new burials.
They reportedly removed human skeletal remains, packed them into empty cement bags, wrapped them in burial clothing, and then disposed of them in a trench or dam located behind the cemetery. Reads the statement:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Edwin Muronzi, Tinashe Chiguma (32), Moses Gwanya (19) and Kudakwashe Humure (21) in connection with the massive violation of approximately 380 graves and corpses at Restland Memorial Park, Rainham, Harare between 2015 and 2024.
On 04th December 2024, police arrested Tinashe Chiguma after he made a report that he had been experiencing visions of dead people requesting to know the whereabouts of their relatives.
Tinashe Chiguma implicated his employers, Edwin Muronzi, Moses Gwanya and Kudakwashe Humure, leading to their arrest.
Investigations by the Police revealed that Edwin Muronzi employed grave diggers at the cemetery including the suspects and others who are on the run and paid them between USD 15.00 and USD 20.00 per every grave.
The grave diggers allegedly received instructions from Edwin Muronzi to dig the graves to pave the way for new graves and subsequent burials.
In the process, they would come across human skeletal remains which they would pack in empty cement bags before wrapping them in clothes used during burial and disposing them in a trench or a dam behind the cemetery. They would also dispose of the traditional artefacts buried with the bodies.
Edwin Muronzi and his team would then resale the graves to new clients to bury their late relatives without suspecting anything after cleaning and rearranging the used graves.
A team from Zimbabwe Republic Police including Forensic Science is conducting investigations with the view of identifying the graves which were tempered with, to identify the bodies through their relatives and the whole area where the illegally exhumed bodies and artefacts were being dumped.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of the outstanding suspects only identified as Kevy, Shumba and Dread.

Four Arrested For Violating 380 Graves And Exhuming Corpses At Restland Memorial Park

The High Court has dismissed Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu’s application to refer their fraud case to the Constitutional Court, labelling their claims as “frivolous and vexatious.”
The two are accused of embezzling US$7.7 million from the Presidential Goat Pass-On Scheme. The court said that they sought to delay their trial.
The duo raised objections about their arrest, detention, and the involvement of a Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission official, Michael Reza, in denying them bail.
They also challenged the age of the court assessors, arguing that their advanced ages could hinder the fairness of the trial.
The defence, led by Lovemore Madhuku, argued that the law states the age limit for High Court judges is 70, yet the assessors who were sitting with Justice Pisirayi Kwenda were beyond that age.
Justice Kwenda rejected these claims, saying they were merely attempts to block prosecution and labelling the age-related argument as “ageism.” The trial is set to proceed. Said Kwenda:

That was discrimination against elderly individuals.
The claim was not supported by any research, scientific evidence, or substantive knowledge about the assessors involved in this case.
There was no proof that their age affects their capacity to perform…
Now, with regards to the application for bail pending trial that was made before this court, it shows the two had an opportunity to challenge the law, but they did not do so. Timing is important.
I therefore find that issues which relates to their appearance in the magistrates’ court, withdrawal of bail consent are frivolous and vexatious because the court cannot do anything about it now. It’s in the past.

The case returns to court on 10 February next year and will run on a continuous roll.

Tawanda Brian Dzvoti, a 38-year-old principal immigration officer stationed at Beitbridge Border Post, became the victim of a brazen robbery when his home was broken into by armed suspects who stole US$3,000, reported <a href="https://newsday.co.zw/southerneye/local/article/200035837/beitbridge-immigration-boss-robbed">Southern Eye</a>.
Appearing for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Takudzwa Mutyavaviri alleged that on November 26, the robbers, identified as Tapfumanei Russell Murozi (39) and Ashley Muchemwa (29), forced their way into Dzvoti’s house, demanding money.
During the ordeal, they dragged Dzvoti’s wife out of the house, subjected her to indecent harassment, and threatened her with violence.
In a desperate attempt to call for help, Dzvoti’s wife screamed, which alerted their neighbours. Hearing her cries, the neighbors quickly rallied to assist, preventing the suspects from escaping.
The robbers managed to steal US$2,820 from Dzvoti’s wallet and additional valuables from the house, including US$200 from his wife’s makeup kit. However, they were apprehended by the neighbours before they could flee the scene.
The suspects appeared before magistrate Sharon Rakafa, who remanded them in custody until December 10 for a bail application.

A Zimbabwean man based in the United Kingdom, Tanaka Zivanai, 32, has admitted to the murder of 28-year-old Zanele Sibanda in Gloucester earlier this year.
According to <a href="https://www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk/news/gloucester-news/gloucester-man-admits-murdering-young-9752801">GloucestershireLive</a>, Zivanai pleaded guilty to both murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
He appeared via video link from prison at Bristol Crown Court on November 27.
Police were called to the junction of Paul Street and Tarrington Road in Tredworth at around 1:45 AM on August 27, following reports of a man attacking a woman.
Zivanai stabbed Zanele multiple times, and despite emergency services’ efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was arrested and charged with her murder the day after the incident, following an investigation by the Major Crime Investigation Team.
Zivanai has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to be sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on January 14, 2025.

This was said by Vimbai Nyemba, the Permanent Secretary for Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, during a meeting on the feasibility of establishing such a register in Zimbabwe.
Nyemba said that the creation of a National Sex Offenders Register is a crucial step for the country, as it directly impacts justice and child protection systems.
She argued that, like many other nations, Zimbabwe has witnessed a troubling rise in sexual violence, particularly against women and children, making the need for this register more urgent than ever. Said Nyemba:

Zimbabwe Considers Launching National Sex Offenders Register

A suspected armed robber is accused of sexually assaulting his victim by inserting his fingers into her private parts while searching for cash during a robbery, reported <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200035851/robber-searches-for-cash-in-womans-privates">NewsDay</a>.
The suspect, identified in court as Azion Kosiwe, also subjected her to verbal abuse upon discovering that she was menstruating.
Kosiwe was arrested for armed robbery and is believed to be part of a gang whose other members are currently detained in Harare on murder charges.
The woman recounted her traumatic experience during the robbery while testifying before Beitbridge magistrate Takudzwa Gwazemba. She said:

After ransacking my goods, he turned on me and inserted his fingers in my privates to see if I had hidden any money there. He insulted me and asked me why I soiled him.
I remember him well. I cannot forget him. I have not even inserted my fingers that deep. It was painful.
I bled profusely after that intrusion. Even when I slept, I would visualise him for many days because he hurt me.
I can easily identify him because of that. And prior to this, he had many times tried convincing me to board their car on the pretext they were going to Masvingo.

Prosecutor Ronald Mugwagwa alleged that on January 19 of this year, the woman and a colleague boarded a vehicle that Kosiwe had indicated was travelling from Beitbridge to Harare.
As a regular traveller, the woman recognised the car from previous sightings before deciding to board it. Along with them were six other passengers headed to Masvingo.
It is alleged that at the 10-kilometre peg, the vehicle turned onto a dirt road and sped away before coming to a stop.
One of the robbers then brandished a knife and ordered the passengers to hand over all their money.
One woman was reportedly robbed of US$300 and various gadgets, while the victim lost US$100 and her mobile phones.
During cross-examination, Kosiwe, who denies the charges, questioned the victim about how she recognised him. She responded that she had seen him clearly in daylight prior to boarding the vehicle.
The trial is set to continue next week, with the State expected to call the other woman as a second witness.

Armed Robber Searches For Cash In Woman’s Privates

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has said it is closing in on the armed robbers involved in the audacious US$4 million heist at the Ecobank Parkade branch in Bulawayo, which took place two months ago.
The robbery occurred on October 3, 2024, in the heart of Bulawayo’s Central Business District.
To aid in the investigation, the ZRP has engaged the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) and its counterparts in South Africa, where they believe the suspects may be hiding.
The police have identified the suspects as Elijah Vumbunu, also known as Mupositori; David Sawadye; Israel Zulu; Kudakwashe Mudzingwa, known as Umbro; Takafa Vumbunu, also referred to as Naison Mahembe; Paul Chinake; and Brian Murape.
In a recent interview with local television channel ZTN Prime, ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said:

Regarded as the largest heist in Zimbabwe’s history, the robbery involved seven masked assailants who disarmed the security team responsible for overseeing cash-in-transit vehicles parked outside the bank.
Two Safeguard vehicles were stationed in front of the Ecobank branch, where security guards were loading cash boxes into one of the vehicles when the suspects struck.
In less than two minutes, the assailants had disarmed the guards and loaded their loot into a white single-cab Ford Ranger before speeding off.
