Harare Magistrate Tapiwa Banda on Tuesday removed Dorcas Vambe, popularly known as Mai Dhuterere and wife of gospel musician Mambo Dhuterere, from remand in a case in which she is accused of defrauding a local politician of US$16,000 in a failed vehicle import deal.
The magistrate ruled that the State should proceed by way of summons, should it wish to pursue the matter further.
Vambe, aged 36, is alleged to have defrauded ZANU PF Glen Norah Member of Parliament Chrispen Magaya through a purported duty-free vehicle import arrangement. 
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Vambe and her brother, Kudakwashe Vambe, allegedly misrepresented to Magaya that they could supply a Toyota Hilux GD6, claiming access to a presidential duty waiver on account of her contributions to the nation as a musician.
They reportedly assured Magaya that he could receive two vehicles within his budget of US$16,000. Based on these representations, Magaya transferred the full amount to Vambe, who issued a receipt in the form of an affidavit, committing to deliver the vehicles within two weeks.
However, the promise went unfulfilled. Vambe instead delivered a Ford Ranger registered in Botswana, and assured Magaya that a Mercedes Benz C200 would follow. 
The Ford Ranger was later impounded by police for operating without a valid temporary import permit.
Vambe was granted bail set at US$100 when she initially appeared before the court.

The State has failed to provide a trial date for Blessed Mhlanga, a senior journalist with Heart &amp; Soul TV, citing that the investigating officer had not attached witness statements to the docket.
Mhlanga on Tuesday, 22 April, appeared before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo, who remanded the matter to 30 April for the provision of a trial date.
In the application for postponement, prosecutor Takudzwa Jambawu explained that the investigating officer had failed to include the necessary witness statements in the case file.
He further stated that the officer was currently unavailable, having been deployed outside the court’s jurisdiction.
Mhlanga’s lawyer, Chris Mhike, expressed disappointment, arguing that the journalist had already been in custody for an extended period.
Mhlanga was arrested on 24 February 2025 and is facing charges under Section 164 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act for allegedly transmitting data messages that incited violence and damage to property.
The charges relate to interviews he conducted with Blessed Geza, a war veteran and outspoken critic of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration.
It is alleged that, on 27 January this year, Mhlanga recorded and uploaded a video to YouTube inciting public violence. The court heard that the video included the following statements:

It is clear that (President Emmerson) Mnangagwa has failed. He is not fit to run this country and his time to go is now. We ask him to go peacefully.
If he refuses to take heed of this advice, we have no option but to ask the people of Zimbabwe to deal with a rogue President…

The prosecution further alleged that on 11 February this year, Mhlanga broadcast another video on the same online platform, which also purportedly sought to incite public violence.

Blessed Mhlanga's Trial Stalled Due To Incomplete Docket

Unknown assailants allegedly petrol-bombed the home of opposition activist Godfrey Karembera, popularly known as “Madzibaba veShanduko,” on Monday night.
Karembera’s residence, situated in the area under Chief Chipuriro in Guruve South, was destroyed in the attack.
Speaking to <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/opposition-supporter-madzibaba-veshandukos-home-petrol-bombed/">NewZimbabwe.com</a>, Karembera disclosed that he was not at home at the time. However, his 17-year-old son, Laxmore, sustained injuries while rescuing his two younger siblings from the blaze.
According to Karembera, Laxmore suffered deep lacerations to his neck and feet before managing to flee with his siblings into the nearby fields. He was later rushed to a local clinic by neighbours. Said Karembera:

I was not at home when this happened. My neighbours, who witnessed everything, told me they heard noises around midnight that sounded like petrol bombs. My son has since confirmed it.
He told me he went out of his bedroom to investigate when he heard the strange noise. When he got outside, he realised that part of the house was on fire.
He ran back to his bedroom to wake up his siblings, with whom he shared a room. As they were escaping, another petrol bomb was thrown at them, but thankfully, they managed to get away through the fields.

Karembera said some of his neighbours spotted two top-of-the-range vehicles at his home shortly before the incident, and he suspects the people in those cars were behind the attack.
He’s since reported the matter to the police at Guruve District Police Station, and officers showed up at the scene around 10 AM on Tuesday.
Karembera also expressed frustration with the slow response from healthcare workers, saying they didn’t treat his son’s injuries with the urgency the situation demanded. He said:

Laxmore was taken to Shinje Clinic in Ward 7 by my friends, but the staff there refused to treat him, saying his injuries were too severe. They referred him to Guruve District Hospital, where, again, he was not attended to.
The healthcare workers appeared completely disinterested. I had to phone friends to help me get him to a private health facility where he is currently receiving treatment. He is in a great deal of pain.
We are not safe in our own homes, and yet we claim to be independent. There is no freedom whatsoever. We are being traumatised day and night.

Unknown people threw a petrol bomb at Godfrey Karembera's house. He wasn't home, but his son rescued his siblings and got hurt. His neighbors saw fancy cars near his house before the attack. He thinks those people did it. The police came to investigate the next day. Karembera's son got hurt badly, but the hospital didn't help him. Now he is getting treatment at a private hospital. Karembera is upset and says they are not safe in their own homes.

Madzibaba veShanduko’s House Petrol-Bombed

Two Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers have been arrested after one of them was secretly filmed accepting petty bribes from suspects in Harare’s city centre.
ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest of Constable Mupandira and Constable Chirengendure, saying one of the officers was “clearly seen accepting bribes from suspects” in a video that has since circulated widely.
Nyathi said the duo is now facing both disciplinary and criminal charges as the police force seeks to clamp down on corruption within its ranks. He said:

Reference is made to a video which went viral on social media in which a female police officer is clearly seen accepting bribes from suspects while sitting on a plastic chair at Parkade Rank at the corner of Nelson Mandela Street and Rezende Street in Harare Central Business District.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police informs the public that Constable Mupandira and Constable Chirengendure have been arrested. They are facing both disciplinary and criminal charges.
The Commissioner-General of Police does not condone corruption by any police officer and will ensure that the law takes its course without fear or favour.

The arrests come amid growing public frustration over petty corruption and misconduct among some law enforcement officers, especially in urban centres.
In November 2024, two traffic police officers, Sergeant Chifamba and Constable Gunzva, were detained after a viral social media video exposed them accepting bribes from public transport operators near the Mabvuku turn-off along Harare-Mutare Road.

Two police officers in Harare were caught on camera taking bribes and have been arrested by their own police force. The officers, Constable Mupandira and Constable Chirengendure, are in trouble for their actions. The police force wants to stop corruption within its ranks and is taking this seriously. Another incident in November 2024 involved two traffic police officers also caught accepting bribes. The police are working to improve their image and make sure officers follow the law. Two Police Officers Filmed Taking Bribes In Harare Arrested

A suspended Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officer accused of fatally shooting an unarmed civilian has been denied bail by the High Court.
Detective Constable Farai Simudzirai (43), from CID Mwenezi, was already on suspension after allegedly stabbing a fellow police officer to death. He now faces a second murder charge.
Justice Helena Charewa, sitting at the High Court in Masvingo last Thursday, refused bail, stating that Simudzirai had breached his bail conditions by allegedly killing 24-year-old Shadreck Madzore with a police-issued AK-47 near Rutenga, Mwenezi, on 16 March 2025.
At the time of the incident, Simudzirai had been out on bail for the alleged murder of Constable Privilege Hove, who was stabbed in the stomach with an Okapi knife outside Kupeta Nite Club in Karoi on 21 April 2024. Hove had reportedly tried to stop Simudzirai from assaulting another officer.
Justice Charewa ruled that the seriousness of the charges, both carrying long potential prison terms, made Simudzirai a flight risk. 
She also noted the risk of witness interference, as he still resides at Mwenezi Police Camp with potential State witnesses.
In addition, the court found that Simudzirai was in clear breach of his suspension from duty, which was issued on 23 July 2024 by then Officer Commanding Masvingo, Commissioner Crispen Charumbira.
Despite being suspended, he allegedly used a police firearm while carrying out an unofficial surveillance mission.
Simudzirai had already been denied bail once before, on 24 March 2025, by Masvingo Magistrate Elizabeth Hanzi, following his arrest on 21 March.
According to police reports, the fatal shooting occurred during a reported highway robbery investigation. 
Simudzirai and a junior officer, Constable Simbabure, were responding to the report and gave chase to a Mazda B1800 vehicle along the Ngundu–Beitbridge Highway. 
They pursued the vehicle for about 35 kilometres, during which Simudzirai allegedly fired his rifle multiple times.
The vehicle was eventually stopped at a police roadblock, where it was discovered that Madzore had been shot twice. 
Madzore was taken to Rutenga Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

A police officer who was suspended for killing another officer has been denied bail for killing a civilian. The officer, Farai Simudzirai, is accused of shooting an unarmed man named Shadreck Madzore with a police gun. The judge said that Simudzirai might run away because the charges are serious. She also said he might interfere with witnesses because he still lives with police officers who could testify against him. The officer was already suspended when he allegedly used a police gun during an unofficial mission. This is the second time he has been denied bail.

Suspended CID Officer Denied Bail Over Second Murder Charge

One of the two inmates who escaped from custody at the Harare Magistrates’ Court on 21 March 2025 has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempting to escape from lawful custody.
Tafadzwa Richard Marondera, who was already facing robbery charges, made a bold attempt to flee from prison officers in broad daylight.
He was apprehended shortly after the incident, while his accomplice, Luke Zinyengere, managed to evade capture for three days before being re-arrested.
The two inmates had earlier been denied bail by the High Court. It is alleged that their escape was facilitated by a corrupt prison officer, Donald Madzinga, and Tinotenda Zinyengere, the younger brother of one of the escapees.
Tinotenda reportedly smuggled a revolver into Harare Remand Prison, concealed inside a bowl of rice, and handed it to the inmates with the assistance of Madzinga.
On the day of the escape, as the inmates were being escorted to the Harare Magistrates’ Court for routine proceedings, Zinyengere concealed the firearm in his waistband.
After the court session, while being escorted back to the prison vehicle, Zinyengere drew the weapon and threatened the escorting officers.
In the ensuing chaos, he managed to flee, scale the perimeter fence, and disappear into traffic along Mother Patrick Avenue. Marondera, however, was immediately apprehended before he could escape.
Shortly after fleeing the court, Zinyengere allegedly hijacked a brown Mazda Demio by threatening the driver with the firearm. The vehicle was later found abandoned on Kaguvi Street the following morning.
Witnesses reported seeing a man matching his description, dressed in civilian clothes, fleeing the scene on foot.
Following a three-day manhunt, detectives located Zinyengere near Electrosales along Mutare Road. A dramatic foot chase ensued before he was eventually subdued and arrested.
Harare Regional Magistrate Fadzai Mthombeni sentenced Marondera to 10 years’ imprisonment for attempting to escape from lawful custody.
Zinyengere is yet to be sentenced. In court, he denied hijacking the vehicle, claiming the car had been arranged in advance and that he had paid the owner.
He has requested the court’s permission to summon a witness to support his claim. Proceedings were adjourned to allow time for the witness to appear.

An armed robber tried to escape from prison guards and got caught. He received a 10-year sentence. He and his partner tried to escape from custody using a gun smuggled by a corrupt prison officer. The partner managed to escape but was later caught after hijacking a car. The robber denied hijacking the car and said he arranged it. He asked for a witness to support his claim. The court postponed the proceedings. The robber got 10 more years in prison while his partner's sentence is pending.

Armed Robber Receives 10-Year Sentence For Attempted Escape From Prison Guards

A truck driver and a passenger were recently robbed at gunpoint by unidentified assailants at the notorious Mufusire uphill in Headlands, losing cash and mobile phones in the incident.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson for Manicaland Province, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the incident to <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/new-truck-driver-robbed-at-mufusire-uphill/">The Manica Post</a>.
He said the suspects overtook the slow-moving truck, brought their vehicle to a halt in front of it, and forced the driver to stop while threatening him with a firearm. Said Chinyoka:

On 16 April 2025 at around 9pm at 120km peg along Harare-Mutare Highway, Last Mavhika (30) of Uplands, Waterfalls Harare was driving a blue Iveco truck (AFX 8841), in the company of a passenger Blessing Gibson (30) of Murrayfield Farm in Macheke. When Mavhika reached Mufusire uphill a white Probox vehicle overtook him and parked in front of his truck.
Three man disembarked from the Probox, produced an unknown rifle and pointed it to Mavhika. They ordered him to stop and he complied.
They searched Mavhika and took US$350 cash and a cellphone. They also searched Gibson and took US$71 and an Itel phone worth US$70.
After that they drove away leaving complainants at the scene. Mavhika later drove to Headlands Police Station to file a report.
The truck was carrying a load of about 5 000 brick pavers, and nothing from the load was stolen. 
Investigations are underway and we are appealing for information leading to the arrest of the culprits.

The police confirmed the incident and are investigating. The driver later reported the robbery at the police station. The truck was carrying bricks, but nothing from the load was stolen. Armed Men Block, Rob Truck At Mufusire Uphill In Headlands

The High Court has given the University of Zimbabwe’s Association of University Teachers (AUT) the go-ahead to strike, as guaranteed under the Constitution.
In a landmark ruling delivered last week, Justice Benjamin Chikowore said AUT members and their supporters are free to sing, dance, hold placards, pray, and give solidarity speeches during their demonstrations.
This came after AUT filed an urgent High Court application asking for an order to stop the Zimbabwe Republic Police Commissioner-General, Stephen Mutamba, UZ authorities, and ministers Ziyambi Ziyambi (Home Affairs) and Fredrick Shava (Higher and Tertiary Education) from interfering with their planned protest.
AUT was represented by Matika, Gwisai Legal Practitioners.
Justice Chikowore also agreed to the safety measures suggested by both AUT and the police to make sure everything stays peaceful. 
This includes AUT assigning two liaison people to work with the police and appointing marshals to keep things in order during the protest.
It was also agreed that the picket would be limited to UZ’s Churchill Avenue and Mount Pleasant main entrances.
AUT lawyer and advisor, Munyaradzi Gwisai, said the ruling is a major win, and its impact will be felt “beyond the corridors of UZ”. Said Gwisai:

A landmark decision by the High Court handed down protects advances and realises the right to strike as provided by the constitution of Zimbabwe.
The right that AUT has won today is a right that will apply well beyond the corridors of University of Zimbabwe, but in the entire spectrum of labour relations and trade unions in this country.

Last week, UZ lecturers went on strike and held a picket outside the campus, but police quickly stepped in, broke up the protest, and arrested some AUT leaders.
Those arrested, Boncase Mwakorera, Obvious Vengeyi, and Desmond Ndedzu, were later released after each paying a US$15 fine for “disorderly conduct.”
However, their lawyers from the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights say the convictions were made under pressure, and they’re now preparing to challenge them in court.

High Court Affirms UZ Lecturers’ Right To Protest

Lecturers from the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) have taken the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) to the High Court, asking for an order to stop the police from interfering with their protests over low pay.
The lecturers are in dispute with the university and the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education over their current salaries of US$250. They’re demanding a raise to US$2,500 a month.
Last Wednesday, three lecturers were arrested while protesting at the university but were released the next day after paying US$15 fines.
Now, the Association of University Teachers (AUT) has filed a court application to stop the police from disrupting any future demonstrations.
In the application, the AUT argues that Police Commissioner Stephen Mutamba and UZ officials, named as the first and third respondents, unlawfully broke up their protest. The application reads in part:

The applicant and its members stand to suffer irreparable harm if the 1st respondent and 3rd respondents are left to continue to disregard the lawful rights of the applicant and its members to engage in lawful picketing in supporting of a lawful collective job action.

The AUT is being represented by Matika, Gwisai and Partners, and the case was set to be heard on Saturday, 19 April.

UZ Lecturers Want Court To Bar Police From Breaking Up Protests

Two brothers from Gweru, Jacob and Masimba Chibunhe, have been sentenced to a total of 93 years in jail for stealing transformer oil in and around the city.
Jacob was given 45 years for 17 counts, while Masimba got 48 years for 18 counts. The High Court ruled that their sentences would run at the same time (concurrently).
The brothers took their case to the Supreme Court, arguing that their sentences should have been run together. 
But Justice Nicholas Mathonsi, along with Justices Susan Mavangira and Joseph Musakwa, dismissed their appeal and said the original sentences were fair. Ruled the court:
<blockquote>
The whole essence of legislative intervention in providing for a mandatory minimum sentence is to take away the sentencing discretion of the court.
Once taken away, that sentencing discretion cannot be regained by inventing a structuring process of sentencing which side-steps the legislative command.
I must mention though that the part of the court a quo’s judgment on this aspect has not been impugned either by the appellants or the respondent. For that reason, this Court has no basis to interfere with it.
</blockquote>
The judges also pointed out that the court had looked closely at how the crimes were committed and found that the two had gone on a crime spree around Gweru, draining transformer oil and selling it to various people. Ruled the court:
<blockquote>
The court took note of the fact that the appellants had disadvantaged the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) by stealing a total of 11 530 litres of oil and causing damage to transformers amounting to $96 750.
The court further noted that the appellants were an organized criminal gang which operated under the cover of darkness and meticulously planned the execution of the crimes.
Also, their criminal escapades resulted in communities and industries suffering due to non-availability of electricity.
After analysing the totality of the above considerations, the court found that a sentence based on purely the mandatory sentence of ten years would be “draconian, abnormal and excessive to the extreme and induce an extreme sense of shock”.
The court then exercised its discretion and arrived at a calculation of three years per count with some counts running concurrently.
This was done in the exercise of sentencing discretion which, as already stated, was improper but cannot be upset because, firstly it was favorable to the appellants and, secondly, none of the parties has challenged it.

The Chibunhe brothers were charged in Gweru’s Provincial Magistrates Court with 18 counts of tampering with electricity infrastructure under the Electricity Act.
Between February 11 and June 29, 2013, Jacob and Masimba, along with two accomplices, carried out a series of transformer oil thefts across Gweru. 
They stole a total of 11,530 litres of oil, causing major power outages and financial losses for ZESA, the national power supplier.
The State said the group used a red Honda Fit (registration ACW 7466) to move around the city at night, targeting at least 18 transformers. 
The damage caused was estimated at over $96,000. The stolen oil was later sold to commuter bus operators they had ties with.
Masimba admitted to one count, while Jacob denied all charges.

Gweru Brothers Jailed 93 Years For Stealing ZESA Transformer Oil

The family of a Zimbabwean man who was brutally killed in South Africa say the police aren’t doing enough to catch the person responsible.
Reports suggest that the murder may be linked to a love triangle involving a Ugandan man and a woman called Ntombizodzwa.
Emmanuel Muhamba was killed around 4:30 PM on April 5 outside the Mzanzi Building, at the corner of 12th Avenue and Rivonia Road in Sandton, Johannesburg.
South African police say the case is being handled by the Sandton Police Station under case number 138/04/2025.
But at Emmanuel’s funeral in Mashava, his brother said the family is very frustrated. He believes the police are dragging their feet and that important evidence, like Emmanuel’s clothes, has somehow gone missing. He said:

The police should be answerable because, from what I picked up when I talked to them, it seems they don’t want to arrest the suspect.
The car which was used to kill him has not been impounded, and the person who was driving it is walking free. His clothes are missing, and they are acting like they don’t know the accused person.
Why are they delaying? His body had no case number. Why is the Investigating Officer not arresting the driver who had the car?
On the day in question, reports are that they had an altercation. We just want justice, and why are all the guys who were at the scene not questioned? Why is the girlfriend not being arrested?

He added that the family believes the police might have tried to cover up or tamper with the case file. He said:
<blockquote>
The body was identified, but they were trying to hide the docket. We went to the scene, the following day, the police gave us the wrong case number, 130 instead of 138. I then made a follow-up and got the correct docket.
The clothes he was wearing at the time cannot be found. We are demanding answers from them. On his death certificate, there was no case number of murder, there are many loopholes.

The victim’s brother also said that a SAPS officer has been trying to stop them from speaking out. He said:

We went to look for footage, and the police officer is threatening us not to circulate the details. He didn’t want it to be circulated, and he told us to keep the issue private.
His businesses are working normally, and the girlfriend is still talking to the suspect. These two guys from Uganda, who were at the scene, are walking free.

According to SAPS, Emmanuel was hit twice by a Ford Ranger, which then ran over him several more times. He is survived by his wife and child.

A gang of five armed robbers stormed Rusape Town Council offices last week but fled empty-handed after their explosives failed to blow up the cash vaults.
ZRP Manicaland acting spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the incident, saying the robbers tied up a security guard Baldwin Dumbuka and force-marched him into the council offices. Said Chinyoka:

On April 10, at around 6pm, Mr Dumbuka commenced duty at Rusape Town Council premises and everything was in order.
 The following day around 1am, Mr Dumbuka was approached by five unknown males wearing balaclavas.
They were armed with iron bars and a bolt cutter. The first suspect pushed open the guardroom door and ordered Mr Dumbuka to lie down, tied his legs using blanket threads which they brought. They told him that they only needed cash, and did not want to harm him.
Four others broke into the offices, while one of them remained at the guard room guarding the complainant.
The robbers failed to locate where the safe was, and one of them returned to the guardroom, untied the complainant and force-marched him into the cash office.
The complainant showed them, and he was tied again, and ordered to lie down in the passage covered with trench coats.

Chinyoka added that the robbers allegedly used explosives in an attempt to blast open the safe, forcibly opened and ransacked several offices in search of cash, and also took the complainant’s small cellphone and two Buddie lines. They left the security guard tied up.
Despite having his legs still bound, Dumbuka managed to hop outside the offices and alerted Hatidane Zvakare, a security guard at the neighbouring Rusape Magistrates’ Court. Zvakare cut the bindings and notified the police.
Officers from ZRP Rusape Central and CID Rusape attended the scene, but no arrests were made.
On April 11, around 9:30 a.m., a team comprising Scenes of Crime (Harare), CID Rusape, and Rusape Central revisited the scene. 
They confirmed that while the suspects had attempted to blast the safe, they failed to open it, and no cash was stolen.

High Court judge Justice Lucy Mungwari has granted bail on appeal to three of the 98 suspects arrested on March 31 for allegedly staging an unsanctioned protest demanding President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s resignation.
Justice Mungwari released Moreblessing Nkomo, Jenifer Chimange and Sthabile Maduve on US$100 bail each after determining no justification for their continued detention. The judge ruled:

The ruling by Magistrate Ruth Moyo handed down on the 4th of April 2025 refusing the appellants bail pending trial be and is hereby set aside in its entirety.

Mungwari also ordered the three to remain at their current addresses as part of their bail conditions.
The trio, represented by their lawyer Douglas Coltart from the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, is facing charges of public violence.
They were arrested at the Copacabana bus terminus in central Harare, separately from the other 95 individuals who remain in custody after being denied bail due to concerns that their release could lead to public disorder.

Three people who were arrested for protesting in Zimbabwe were released on bail by a judge. They had to pay $100 each to be released. The judge said there was no reason to keep them in jail. A 31-year-old man from Dzivaresekwa, Harare, has been sentenced to 15 months in prison after impersonating his brother to serve a court-ordered community service sentence on his behalf.
Tinashe Kaseva appeared at Dzivaresekwa Police Station in March 2025, identifying himself as his brother, Wilbert Kaseva, who had been ordered by the court to complete 210 hours of community service for a separate offence.
Using Wilbert’s national ID, Tinashe was able to begin serving the community service. The matter came to light in April when police followed up on an unrelated fraud case involving Wilbert.
 During questioning, Tinashe admitted that he had been serving the sentence under his brother’s name.
Following his arrest and court appearance, Tinashe was sentenced to 15 months in prison for the offence.

Harare Man Jailed For Serving Brother’s Community Service Sentence

Police in Lupane have arrested a 31-year-old man, Prudence Nyoni, in connection with a murder that took place on April 15, 2025, at Jibajiba Village in Mabhikwa.
According to a statement from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Nyoni fatally struck his ex-wife, 20-year-old Silithemba Moyo, following an argument over alleged infidelity.
In a separate incident, police in Chimanimani are investigating a murder that occurred on April 14, 2025, at Mheuka Village.
The suspect, Learnmore Muyambo, allegedly assaulted 49-year-old Phineas Mutambadzure with switches multiple times during a dispute. The victim died upon admission to a local mission hospital.
Muyambo is currently on the run, and police are appealing to anyone with information about his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station.

Lupane Man Murders Ex-Wife Over Infidelity

A 54-year-old Zimbabwean fugitive, Thomas Chauke, also known as Sazu Nkambuya, has been sentenced to 110 years in prison by the Makhanda High Court in South Africa for a string of serious crimes, including rhino poaching, escaping custody, and illegal possession of firearms.
Chauke pleaded guilty to six counts of rhino poaching and wildlife-related offences, as well as three counts of escaping lawful custody. His conviction followed a comprehensive investigation by the SAPS Stock Theft and Endangered Species (STES) Unit.
According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Mukhathi, Chauke was a highly sought-after fugitive, linked to numerous violent crimes across Eastern Cape, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and North West provinces. These included cases of armed robbery, rape, and kidnapping.
Before his escape, Chauke was serving five life sentences at Kgosi Mampuru Prison for previous serious offences. He escaped on December 9, 2020, prompting a nationwide manhunt.
He was rearrested on March 25, 2024, by the Modimolle STES Unit, after being found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. 
Further investigation revealed his involvement in more criminal activities, including rhino poaching and firearm offences across multiple provinces.
To build a strong case, the STES team worked closely with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to merge dockets from various provinces, leading to a successful prosecution.
Lieutenant Colonel Mukhathi praised the STES team’s efforts, saying they remain committed to protecting both wildlife and the public by bringing dangerous criminals to justice.

The head of Dombojena Primary School in Shurugwi has been arrested for allegedly misappropriating over US$1,700 in examination fees meant for the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC).
The suspect, Emmanuel Hove (52), appeared before Shurugwi magistrate Patricia Gwetsai facing one count of fraud.
Hove was granted bail of US$100 under the conditions that he does not interfere with State witnesses, reports to the Shurugwi Police Station every Friday, and continues residing at his homestead under Chief Nhema.
Representing the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Kwanele Njini alleged that Hove misused examination fees totalling US$1,745, which had been collected from 77 candidates intending to sit for the November ZIMSEC examinations.
As Dombojena Primary School is not an approved examination centre, Hove was responsible for registering the pupils at Railway Block Primary School, also located in Shurugwi.
The alleged fraud came to light when Dombojena’s deputy head, Kundai Pedzi, visited Railway Block Primary School and discovered that the registration fees for the 77 pupils had not been processed.
A police report was filed, leading to Hove’s arrest.

Headmaster Steals 77 Candidates' US$1,745 ZIMSEC Examination Fees

A 46-year-old taxi driver was fatally shot on Monday afternoon after being hired by three unidentified men in Penhalonga, who claimed they were en route to Stapleford Estate.
According to Manicaland Province Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, the incident occurred around 4:30 PM. 
The suspects reportedly approached Ronald Simbarashe Mazura (20) and Rodgers Murimbechi, offering US$20 for transport to Muchena Business Centre.
While en route, and upon reaching Nyahunga Bridge, one of the suspects allegedly retrieved a firearm from a sack and pointed it at Murimbechi, who was driving the vehicle, ordering him to stop.
Once the vehicle came to a halt, the suspects forced both Murimbechi and Mazura to lie on the ground and demanded they hand over all their valuables. Said Chinyoka:

When Murimbechi was asked to stop the car at gun point he complied. The trio ordered them to lie on the ground and asked them to surrender their belongings.
Murimbechi handed over an undisclosed amount of money and his cellphone. After that, they were ordered to get back in the car and one of the suspects then drove the vehicle.

The suspects reportedly drove the vehicle onto a dusty road leading to Mutare Board and Paper Mills for about 400 metres.
Upon reaching the Drenan turn-off, they were once again ordered to exit the vehicle. Said Chinyoka:

At a spot nearthe  Drenan turn-off, the accused stopped the car and ordered Mazura and Murimbechi to get out and lie on the ground. While Mazura complied, Murimbechi remained seated.
In a savage act, one of the accused shot Murimbechi several times on the stomach. The suspects quickly fled the scene with the Honda Fit (AFF 7694) towards an unknown direction.

Murimbechi was bleeding from the stomach. Mazura ran toward Mutare Board and Paper Mills to seek help, but by the time he returned, Murimbechi had died. The body was taken to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital.

Former Harare Mayor Bernard Manyenyeni and former acting Town Clerk Josephine Ncube have been arrested on charges of criminal abuse of duty, the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) confirmed on Tuesday night.
The charges stem from allegations that the two unlawfully amended a land development agreement between the City of Harare and Shelter Zimbabwe, resulting in an estimated US$20 million revenue loss for the local authority.
According to ZACC, the original agreement, signed in 2013, involved the development of 1,500 residential stands on 657 hectares of land in Tafara and Mabvuku.
Under the initial terms, Shelter Zimbabwe was responsible for servicing the land with necessary infrastructure, after which the City Council would allocate and sell the stands, reimbursing Shelter Zimbabwe thereafter.
However, in 2017, Manyenyeni and Ncube allegedly altered the agreement to allow Shelter Zimbabwe to sell the unserviced stands directly, a move not approved by the council.
Shelter Zimbabwe proceeded to sell the stands but reportedly failed to develop the land or remit the proceeds to the City of Harare.
Manyenyeni and Ncube are expected to appear at the Harare Magistrates Court on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

Former Harare Mayor Bernard Manyenyeni and former acting Town Clerk Josephine Ncube were arrested for changing a land deal, causing a $20 million loss for the city. The deal involved developing 1,500 residential stands, with Shelter Zimbabwe supposed to develop the land and the city selling the stands. Manyenyeni and Ncube changed the deal in 2017 without council approval, allowing Shelter Zimbabwe to sell unserviced stands directly. ZACC Arrests Former Harare Mayor, Town Clerk Over US$20 Million Land Deal

The Labour Court of Zimbabwe has nullified the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU)’s decision to retire its Secretary-General, Japhet Moyo, at age 60, ruling the move was legally flawed.
Justice Samuel Kudya, who delivered the judgment, found that the retirement violated key contractual and procedural safeguards, including Moyo’s right to be heard.
Moyo challenged the decision, arguing it breached his employment contract, the union’s constitution, and the Labour Act. He sought reinstatement with full benefits or compensation and legal costs.
ZCTU defended the retirement as consistent with established practice, noting that Moyo had previously overseen similar retirements.
However, the court disagreed, finding no clause in Moyo’s contract specifying retirement at 60 or 65, and ruled that the ZCTU constitution did not support the action taken.
Justice Kudya cited the City of Harare v Mubvumbi case, stressing that pension regulations do not establish a retirement age unless clearly stated in a contract.
He also upheld Moyo’s argument under Section 12(4)(a) of the Labour Act, which prohibits employers from unilaterally retiring employees. Ruled Justice Kudya:

The new amendment sought to take away the power of an employer to retire an employee.
</blockquote>
Justice Kudya also found that Moyo’s retirement had been decided without proper consideration of his specific employment terms or a fair comparison to other retirees.
Citing ZESA v Stefavo, he ruled that “the right to be heard is the cornerstone of the law” and could not be disregarded in this case.
The court ultimately set aside ZCTU’s decision of August 7, 2024, and ordered the union to revisit the matter after allowing Moyo to present his case.
Each party was ordered to bear its own legal costs.

The Labour Court in Zimbabwe said ZCTU could not make Japhet Moyo retire at 60. They did not follow the rules. Moyo said his contract and the law protect him. ZCTU argued it was normal to retire at 60. But the court did not agree. They said there was no clear rule about this. Moyo should have been heard before deciding on his retirement. The court told ZCTU to listen to Moyo and decide again. They also said both sides should pay their own legal fees.

Labour Court Rules ZCTU Retirement Of Secretary-General Unlawful

Two suspects were arrested on Friday for allegedly masterminding a national identity card fraud and forgery scheme at the Umguza Civil Registry Department, located in the Tredgold Building in Bulawayo.
The suspects, Brian Veririzhe and Thamsanqa Moyo, were apprehended by officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and are expected to appear in court soon.
CID spokesperson Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri confirmed the arrests on Monday, April 14. She said:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has arrested Brian Veririzhe of Stand 3 Wellington Road, Montrose, Bulawayo, and Thamsanqa Moyo of House Number 63 Derby Road, Bellevue, Bulawayo, for fraud and forgery following a case involving the attempted replacement of an identity document.
</blockquote>
Muteweri said that on January 3, 2025, a woman named Buhle Sibanda visited the Tredgold Civil Registry office to replace her lost national identity card. While there, she was approached by the two suspects, who offered to help her obtain a duplicate. She added:

Following their agreement, Brian Veririzhe captured Buhle Sibanda’s passport-sized photograph using his mobile phone and forwarded it to Thamsanqa Moyo, who printed a counterfeit copy of the national identity document using his computer.
</blockquote>
Muteweri said that after creating a fake national ID, the suspects tried to submit it at the Umguza District Civil Registry office.
Veririzhe pretended to be a government employee from the Companies, Deeds and Intellectual Property Office in Bulawayo. He introduced Buhle Sibanda as his relative who needed a replacement ID.
However, a sharp-eyed registry officer noticed something was off with the document and flagged it as fake. Veririzhe and Thamsanqa Moyo were arrested on April 10, 2025, and are now awaiting trial.
Further investigations revealed that Veririzhe actually works for Dokma Private Limited, a company hired to help digitise records for the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage.
Although the fake ID looked real, it raised suspicion because the photo showed Sibanda wearing the same clothes and makeup she had on the day she applied—despite her claim that the ID was a duplicate of one issued back in 2019.
Sibanda, who was born in 1995, listed her home as being under Chief Tshabanda in Tsholotsho District. But when officials checked, they found that no such chief exists.
Under questioning, Sibanda later admitted that the photo was taken just outside the Tredgold Building earlier that day. She also revealed that Veririzhe charged her US$30 for helping her get the fake ID.
Police are now asking the public for help in finding Buhle Sibanda, who is still on the run.

Two Arrested Over National ID Forgery Scheme In Bulawayo

A 23-year-old student from a local polytechnic college has appeared in court facing charges of fraud after he allegedly created a WhatsApp group with over 900 members to facilitate the leaking of Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) Ordinary and Advanced Level June examination papers.
Tadiwanashe Frank Chiminya, of Mbizo, Kwekwe, appeared before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo on Monday, April 14.
According to the State, Chiminya created a WhatsApp group named “June 2025 ZIMSEC Group and Exam Papers” in November 2024 using an Econet mobile number, 0787815406.
He allegedly claimed to have access to leaked ZIMSEC examination papers and invited students preparing for Ordinary and Advanced Level exams to join the group.
Prosecutor Nomsa Kangara, representing the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), told the court that Chiminya solicited payments from group members in exchange for access to the purported leaked exam papers. He directed payments to an Innbucks account registered under the name Admire Magaya, linked to mobile number 0784128996.
The alleged scam came to light after ZIMSEC received a tip-off and joined the WhatsApp group via an invite link. Upon investigation, officials discovered Chiminya’s involvement and reported the matter to the police.
Chiminya was arrested at his home in Kwekwe on April 12. During the arrest, police recovered an iPhone and two SIM cards—Econet lines 0787815406 and 0784128996—allegedly used in the operation. A Tecno Spark 9 phone containing a NetOne SIM card was also seized, along with the WhatsApp group as evidence.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Inspector Sizinkosi Ncube opposed bail, arguing that Chiminya’s actions had forced ZIMSEC to suspend the printing of examination papers to allow police to trace the source of the potential leak.
He also noted that Chiminya refused to unlock his phone for over six hours, suggesting a high likelihood of absconding and interference with investigations.
The court reserved its bail ruling until Thursday after hearing submissions from both the State and the defence.
The prosecution stated that Chiminya’s actions had caused serious reputational damage to ZIMSEC and disrupted its examination administration processes.

Polytechnic Student Arrested For Creating WhatsApp Group To Sell "Leaked" ZIMSEC Exam Papers

An investigation to determine the paternity of children born to a Gutu woman, allegedly abused by her violent biological father since the age of 16, has stalled due to the Zimbabwe Gender Commission (ZGC) being unable to raise US$400 required for DNA tests.
According to The Mirror, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), and the ZGC had all agreed to facilitate DNA tests involving the woman, her children, and her father. The tests are crucial in confirming paternity and enabling the prosecution of the father.
The investigation began after neighbours raised the alarm, claiming the now 25-year-old woman had been raped by her father over several years.
The paternity tests, which were to be conducted by the National Blood Service Zimbabwe, are a key piece of evidence in the case.
However, due to financial constraints, the ZGC has been unable to proceed and is now appealing to well-wishers for assistance.
Child rights organisations have expressed alarm over the situation of the victim’s twin sisters, who are in Form 4 and key witnesses in the case.
The sisters were removed from their home last year for their safety and are now living with a distant relative in Harare. Unfortunately, they have stopped attending school due to a lack of support.
ZGC Chief Executive Officer Virginia Muwanigwa confirmed her organisation’s financial difficulties and said they are currently waiting for resources to proceed with the tests. She said:

Resources are not yet available so that tests can be carried out. Our office in Masvingo has since appealed to the business community and well-wishers for the money to have tests done.

The incestuous rape case came to light after villagers in Chiguhune raised concerns about the alleged abuse of the girl.
They claimed the father—who cannot be named for ethical reasons—was caught on several occasions in compromising situations with his daughter.
However, no concrete evidence of sexual intercourse has been presented, which is why DNA tests are considered essential to confirm the allegations.
Shamwari Yemwanasikana Director, Ekenia Chifamba, urged the Government and local donors to prioritise the expansion of DNA testing facilities, particularly those operated by the police, to ensure they are available in all provinces. Said Chifamba:

We acknowledge and appreciate the efforts made by the Government to put in place policies that protect our young women and girls, particularly survivors of gender based violence.
We are aware that it is expensive in Zimbabwe to get DNA support from other professional institutions which in turn delays justice to take place.
Our plea to the Government is that they join hands with institutions such as the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and others that offer DNA support to expedite this and offer the service for free so that we don’t have to wait and allow for the already existing challenges being faced by the young girls.

Around 30 armed robbers, some dressed in camouflage, pounced on a Chinese-owned gold mine, Ming Chang Sino Africa Mine, in the Tafuna area of Shamva, Mashonaland Central, on April 13.
The robbers stole a small amount of gold, about $7,000 in cash, 50 mobile phones, and two shotguns.
The robbery started around 11:20 PM when 13 masked men, armed with pistols and batons, approached the mine’s main entrance. Ten of them were wearing military-style clothing. They overpowered two security guards.
At the same time, 17 other robbers climbed over the fence and rounded up more than 50 mine workers. The workers were forced to lie down, beaten, and ordered to hand over their valuables.
The mine’s general manager, Yuehui Du (45), was forced to lead the robbers to his office, where they took five phones and $1,200 in cash.
In another office, the store manager, Jie Bao (38), was robbed of $3,200, 20 grammes of gold, and two phones.
The workers were also searched and lost a total of $2,564 in cash. In total, the robbers stole 50 mobile phones from the managers and workers.
Two Mossberg shotguns were taken from the security guards.

Detained Alpha Media Holdings (AMH) journalist Blessed Mhlanga has approached the Constitutional Court to challenge the legality of the law under which he was arrested, following repeated bail applications dismissed by both the magistrates’ court and the High Court.
Mhlanga is accused of violating provisions of the new Cyber and Data Protection Act (CDPA) after allegedly broadcasting an interview on AMH’s HStv with outspoken ZANU PF politician Blessed Geza, during which Geza reportedly insulted President Emmerson Mnangagwa and called for his removal.
Mhlanga is now suing the Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Ziyambi Ziyambi, the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Jenfan Muswere, as well as the Attorney General, Prince Machaya, arguing that the law under which he was arrested is unconstitutional.
Mhlanga’s who is represented by lawyer Chris Mhike, contends that the relevant section of the CDPA infringes on freedom of expression, freedom of the media, and the right to access information as guaranteed under Section 62 of the Constitution. He argued:

Section 61 of the constitution states that every person has the right to freedom of expression, which includes freedom to seek, receive and communicate ideas and other information, freedom of artistic expression and scientific research and creativity and academic freedom.
Every person is entitled to freedom of the media which freedom included protect of the confidentiality of Journalists sources on information.

Mhlanga also said the Constitution provides that every Zimbabwean citizen or permanent resident, including juristic persons and the media, has the right to access any information held by the State or by any institution, agency, or level of government.
He argued that this applies where the information is required in the interests of public accountability.

Blessed Mhlanga Challenges Constitutionality Of Arrest Under Cyber Law

A worker from a company contracted by the Department of Deeds, Companies and Intellectual Property has been implicated in a fake national identity document scam at the Civil Registry Department’s Tredgold Building in Bulawayo.
<a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/exclusive-fake-id-syndicate-busted-in-bulawayo/">The Chronicle </a>cited sources at the Tredgold Building who said an alert Civil Registry Department official noticed an anomaly when a woman seeking a new plastic identity card arrived at the office accompanied by one of the alleged masterminds, identified only as Brian.
It is alleged that the identity document appeared genuine, except for one suspicious detail: the photo on Buhle Sibanda’s paper document matched exactly what she was wearing on the day—same clothes and makeup—despite her claim that she had kept the photocopy since obtaining the original ID in 2019. Sibanda was born in 1995.
The document also stated that she was originally from the Chief Tshabanda area in Tsholotsho; however, no such chief exists in that district.
Upon interrogation, Sibanda admitted that the photo had been taken just outside the Tredgold Building on the same day and that Brian had handled the entire process.
Investigations revealed that Brian works for a company called Dokma Private Limited, which is contracted by the Department of Deeds, Companies and Intellectual Property. The company is involved in the Deeds, Lands, and Administration Systems programme, which is meant to digitise departmental operations.

A person in Bulawayo is accused of making fake identity documents at the Civil Registry Department. The fake ID had the same picture as the real one, but the person admitted it was taken that day. The person was with a man named Brian, who works for a company called Dokma Private Limited. The company is supposed to be helping with digital operations at the Department of Deeds. The Civil Registry Department found out about the fake ID when the person tried to get a new plastic ID card. It is important to always tell the truth and not use fake documents.

Fake ID Scam Exposed At Bulawayo Registry

A group of 98 suspected protesters, accused of participating in demonstrations in Harare on March 31 to demand President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s resignation, were denied bail on Thursday by Harare Magistrate Isheanesu Matova.
In his ruling, Magistrate Matova agreed with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) that the group was likely to reoffend if released on bail. Said Matova:

The release of the accused will likely cause commotion in the country and lead them to reconvene with their leader.

Of the 98 accused, 95 are scheduled to return to court on April 24 for a routine appearance, while the remaining three will appear separately.
The State alleges that the group took part in an unlawful gathering with the intent to incite public violence.
The protests were reportedly organised by expelled ZANU PF Central Committee member and war veteran Blessed Geza, aimed at pressuring President Emmerson Mnangagwa to step down.
According to prosecutors, on March 31, 2025, at approximately 9:20 AM, the suspects assembled at Robert Mugabe Square—commonly known as Freedom Square—with the intention of marching through the streets of Harare.
Prosecutors charge that the group also wanted to proceed “to the State House of Zimbabwe and forcibly remove the constitutionally elected President Emmerson Mnangagwa.”

Police officers who were deployed for maintenance of order observed about 200 people gathered and approached the group.
The accused piled stones, bricks and tyres along Robert Mugabe road. They threw stones towards the police officers whilst singing ‘Hatidi zvekupihwa order nemasasikamu’. They also took themselves pictures and videos which they posted on various social media platforms.
The accused 1 to 94 were arrested at the crime scene while accused 95 was arrested at his residence through identification from circulating pictures and videos.

31 March Protesters Denied Bail

A foreign national was arrested on April 8, 2025, in connection with the unlawful possession and sale of unregistered medicines at an unlicensed facility in Harare.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest, saying detectives conducted raids at three premises linked to the suspect following a tip-off. He said:

On 04th April 2025, Detectives from the CID Drugs and Narcotics, Harare received information that there was a beauty spa operating without a license and was in possession of unregistered medicines.
The detectives acted on the tip and raided three premises belonging to the suspect, which are number 46 Van Praagh Avenue, Milton Park, Harare, number 48 Harare Drive, Harare, and number 157 Josiah Chinamano Avenue, Harare.
During the raid, the detectives established that the suspect was operating the beauty spa at number 157 Josiah Chinamano Avenue, Harare without a premises license and that some of the services which requires qualified personnel such as laser wart removal and laser hair removal services were being conducted by unqualified personnel.

Nyathi said police recovered a variety of unapproved complementary medicines, including skin-lightening creams and body-enhancing products, with an estimated value of ZiG450,000. He added:

The unregistered medicines include, Sadoer Breast Enlargement Cream, Sadoer Slimming Cream, Ampoule Serum Fresh Anti-Oxidiant, Sadoer Kojic Acid and Sadoer Anti-Wringle Soothing.

Nyathi said the ZRP has set up crack teams across the country targeting drug dealers and bases.

A foreign person was caught in Harare for selling medicines that were not approved. The police found out about this from a tip-off and raided three places owned by the suspect. They found unapproved medicines like skin lightening creams and body enhancing products worth a lot of money. The suspect was operating a beauty spa without a license and using unqualified people for services. The police are taking strict action against drug dealers and their operations.

Foreign National Arrested For Selling Unregistered Medicines In Harare

Former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Members of Parliament Amos Chibaya and Costa Machingauta were fined US$500 each by a Harare magistrate on Wednesday, 9 April, after being convicted for participating in an unlawful gathering in 2023.
Chibaya and Machingauta had been convicted alongside three other party activists: Monica Mukwanda, Aletta Viremai, and Lancelot Tungwarara. The five individuals had been remanded out of custody while awaiting their sentencing.
The magistrate ordered that the fine be paid immediately, with a warning that failure to do so would result in a six-month prison sentence.
The offenders were also sentenced to 12 months in prison, although this sentence was wholly suspended, provided they do not commit a similar offence within the next five years.
A total of 20 other suspects were acquitted, with the magistrate ruling that they had been caught in a “dragnet” arrest.
Critics have argued that the Zimbabwean government is targeting opposition political activists with dubious charges. Many have endured lengthy pretrial detentions and politically motivated convictions.
Some have been accused of participating in unlawful gatherings or inciting violence. However, critics contend that these charges are often groundless and aimed at stifling dissent.

The former Members of Parliament, Amos Chibaya and Costa Machingauta, were fined $500 each for being part of a gathering that was not allowed in 2023. They were convicted along with three other activists. They have to pay the fine or face six months in prison. They were also given a 12-month prison sentence, but it was suspended as long as they don't break the law again for five years.

Some people think the government is unfairly targeting opposition activists with fake charges to stop them from speaking out. They say the charges are not true and are just meant to stop people from disagreeing with the government.

Chibaya, Machingauta Fined US$500 For Participating In Unlawful Gathering

An 18-year-old man from Epworth, Harare, appeared in court on Monday, 7 April 2025, for contravening the Electricity Act.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) revealed that on 4 April 2025, Being Chamba (18), along with a group of people who are still on the run, broke into a ZESA substation in Cranborne, Harare, to steal ZESA’s armoured cables.
Chamba, who was in charge of the group, tried to cut one of the cables but was electrocuted in the process. The shock caused severe burns, and he collapsed.
Residents found him and called the authorities. A police report was made, and Chamba was taken to the hospital.
Chamba remains in the hospital, where he is being held while his case is ongoing.

An 18-year-old tried to steal cables from ZESA, got electrocuted, and got seriously hurt. He is now in the hospital.
