ZACC "Closely Following" Al Jazeera Broadcast
The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) says it is closely following the Al Jazeera documentary into alleged gold smuggling and money laundering in the country.
On Thursday, 23 March, Al Jazeera released Episode One (The Laundry Service) of a four-part series on the alleged smuggling of gold in Zimbabwe by well-connected individuals and their associates. ZACC said in a tweet:

The investigation reveals how criminals use gold to whitewash billions of dirty money through a web of shell companies, fake invoices and paid-off officials.
Uebert Angel, a pastor who was appointed a special envoy and ambassador-at-large to Europe and the Americas by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in 2021, his deputy Rikki Doolan, and Mnangagwa’s niece Henrietta Rushwaya, who is the president of the Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF), are named as part of the mafia.
