Robbers Drag Mukuru Employee From His Residence

Five suspected armed robbers kidnapped a Mukuru Money Transfer employee at his residence in Mashava on Monday evening and drove him to a supermarket where they stole more than US$20 000 and over R32 000 from a safe.

In a statement posted on Twitter, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the suspects were armed with an unidentified firearm and using an unregistered grey Toyota vehicle. The Police said:

Police in Masvingo are investigating a case of armed robbery which occurred at a supermarket in Mashava on 13/03/23 at around 1800 hours.

Five unknown suspects, who were armed with an unidentified firearm, while using an unregistered grey Toyota vehicle as a get-away car, attacked a Mukuru money transfer employee at his residence before kidnapping him to his workplace at Mukuru booth located in a supermarket at Balmain Business Centre.
The suspects attacked the supermarket cashier before forcing the complainant to open the safe.

The suspects stole US$20 472 and ZAR32 800 cash. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.

Banking halls need tight security. With the current state of affairs vanaMkuru should be having even more security than banks. Those booths should be having cctv all around and then some security officers stationed a short distance away from the booth ready to pounce on the robbers as they live. Adapt your security according to the nature of threats you face. Pakambopfurwa 3 or 5 robbers as they leave the scene these robberies will stop

Internal security operations are very expensive. The security personnel need to be adequately remunerated to avoid the temptation of creating robbers out of the disgruntled servicemen.
