Harare Magistrate Cancels Warrant Of Arrest For CCC's Mahere

Harare magistrate Taurai Manuwere has cancelled the warrant of arrest for Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) spokesperson, Fadzai Mahere.

The warrant was issued after Mahere Saturday skipped court to meet former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in New York, in the United States.

This was despite the fact that the court had released the passport to allow her to attend a Presidential Centre for Wen Development strategic review meeting.

Mahere appeared at the Harare magistrate’s court to have the warrant cancelled.

Her lawyer, Chris Mhike told the court that Mahere arrived on September 17, a day after the warrant was issued.

Mahere is expected to appear in court on September 30, where her ruling is expected to be delivered on the charge of communicating falsehoods in an incident in which a police officer had allegedly beaten up a mother and injured her baby.

It later emerged that the police officer had smashed the windscreen of a commuter omnibus resulting in glass segments injuring a baby that was on the back of its mother.
