Trio Arrested Over Possession Of ZESA And TelOne Steel Poles
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) arrested three men on Monday over possession of ZESA and TelOne tubular steel poles. The arrests were effected by Mazowe police.
The Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) has often said some of the power cut around the country are caused by theft of its properties including cables and transformers. Said police in a statement:
Police in Mazowe have arrested Ephius Makove (50), Anyway Murungweni (21) and Rangarirai Matyora (34) after they were found in possession of ZESA and TELONE tubular steel poles on 21/02/22 in Mazowe.
FeedbackThe suspects were nabbed after their three tonne truck got stuck in the mud at Smithfield Farm. 8×4 metres ZESA tubular steel poles and 7×4 metres TELONE tubular steel poles where recovered from the suspects’ vehicle.
Meanwhile, police in Mazowe recovered about 8kgs of copper cables that were stashed in a satchel and a small cardboard box, at a traffic checkpoint along Harare- Mukumbura Rd.
In a statement seen by Pindula News, police said the suspect who was a passenger in a Nissan Caravan fled after the vehicle was stopped by the Police on Sunday the 19th of February 2022.
