FULL THREAD: Zimbabwe Police Launch Operation To Impound Vehicles Without Number Plates
Zenzele Ndebele a Bulawayo-based journalist and human rights activist has reported that Zimbabwe Republic Police have launched an operation to impound vehicles without number plates which they say are being used to commit crimes.
Below is his twitter thread in which he revealed the operation.
This morning when i came out of the bank i found three police officers waiting for me by my car. They told me they were impounding by car becoz it didnt not have a number plate.
So i asked the officer, whats that “pointing to the temporary number plate). He said its a temporary number plate. I wanted to laugh but i decided to behave. So i asked is a temporary number plate not a number plate? .
He then said the temporary number plate had expired. I told him its clearly written indefinite. The cde could not have non of it. So i was told to drive my car to Rose camp.
When i got there still argued my case and one policer said but you didnt display the rear number plate and thus an offence . Well i realised i was not going to win that one so i paid my $60 fine and left.
The police said they have an operation to impound vehicles without number plates coz they are the ones committing a lot of crime on the city.
