Human Rights Commission Condemns Brutal Murder Of Police Officer By MaShurugwi Thugs {Full Text}
ZHRC CONDEMNS ATTACK ON POLICE BY MACHETE-WIELDING MOB
The ZHRC unreservedly condemns the callous and unwarranted attack by the unruly and greedy machete-wielding mob on the police in the discharge of their Constitutional mandate at Brompton, Battlefields leading to the sad loss of life of Constable Wonder Hokoyo as reported in the Herald of 29th instant.
The police on duty or in their spare time have, like anybody else, a right to life which is God-given and constitutionally guaranteed.
FeedbackThis fundamental right is sacrosanct and should be respected and protected by all and sundry in a free and democratic society which Zimbabwe is.
The law, of course, must take its full course in barbaric instances of this nature. The Commission condemns all similar past and presents barbaric and intentional murders with the contempt they deserve and exhort law enforcement agencies to ensure the law takes its full course in all such instances.
The Commission extends its heartfelt sympathies to the family of Constable Hokoyo, his workmates and the Commissioner-General and staff on this disturbing and untimely death of our gallant protector of law and public order and fundamental human rights. May His Dear Soul Rest In Eternal Peace.
