Chamisa Seek To Use Tsvangirayi's Affidavit In Court To Fight Presidency Nullification Case

The youthful opposition leader is seeking to use an affidavit signed by the late MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirayi in a case against the challenge of his ascension to the highest office in his party Newsday reports. The matter came to light after Chamisa applied to use an affidavit reportedly making him and Elias Mudzuri Vice Presidents of the party in 2016.

According to Newsday, court documents suggest that he wants to use the late Prime Minster’s affidavit to appeal the court’s decision to nullify his presidency:

The Registrar of the High Court shall rectify record SC289/19 in such a way that it shall include and contain the affidavit of Morgan Tsvangirai filed under case number HC7453/16 and all documents attached thereto

Chamisa and Mudzuri’s appointment was challenged by  Elias Mashavira who said their ascension to the throne was unconstitutional. Justice Mushore declared their appointments unconstitutional. Chamisa is appealing Justice Mushore’s ruling.
