Namibia's President And First Lady Contract Coronavirus
Namibia’s President Hage G. Geingob and the First Lady Madame Monica Geingos tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday evening, the Office of the President announced in a statement on Thursday morning.
Both the President and First Lady are said to be in isolation and in high spirits. The statement read:
The Presidency would like to inform the nation that President Hage G. Geingob and the First Lady, Madame Monica Geingos tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday evening, 26 May 2021.

The Presidency wishes the President and the First Lady a speedy recovery.
Namibia had as of 27 May 2021, recorded 53 603 coronavirus cases, 789 deaths and 49 596 recoveries.
The country has administered at least 69 765 doses of COVID vaccines so far. Assuming every person needs 2 doses, that’s enough to have vaccinated about 1.4% of the country’s population.
