Mthwakazi Celebrates Chief Maduna In Joburg

Yesterday Mthwakazi people converged at a Cathedral in Hillbrow in Johannesburg to celebrate the life of recently deceased Fulabusi traditional leader Chief Vezi Maduna Mafu who died at 86 on 13 February, Bulawayo24 reports.

The Khumalo Royal family reportedly organized the event, King Bulelani Lobhengula Khumalo expressed the Royal Family’s deepest condolences to the Mafu family and described the late Chief Maduna as the leader for the entire Mthwakazi clan. According to the publication:

King Bulelani pleaded with the youths of Mthwakazi to emulate Chief Maduna whom he termed as having died at ‘a tender’ age because of his youthful determination in all Mthwakazi national duties.

King Bulelani challenged the world governing bodies to look into the cases of Mthwakazi human rights violations in the hands of the Zimbabwe government. He said the wounds of human rights violations of Mthwakazi people by the government of Zimbabwe were still bleeding and they must never be treated as bygones.

He further pleaded with all Mthwakazi people in their diversity to unite and fight for their self-determination as per the United Nations Declaration. In closing, he called on all Mthwakazi chief to be as bold as Chief Maduna was on all cases surrounding the well being their subjects. He said chiefs should serve their subjects’ interests not theirs.

Chief Maduna was laid to rest at his family home last week and Local Government Minister July Moyo attended the funeral and President Mnangagwa mourned his and hipped up praise for the called leader.
