3300 Zimbos In SA Apply For Food Aid
3 300 Zimbabweans living in South Africa heeded to the call to register at the Zimbabwean Embassy in South Africa if they were in need of food assistance, Sunday News reports. This was revealed by the Zimbabwean Consul General in Johannesburg Melody Chaurura who said for the time the flighted the advert they had had responses from 3 300 people.
According to Sunday News:
The embassy had put out a call for Zimbabweans in SA in need of food assistance because of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic to apply for help by 19 July.
FeedbackThe assistance would come in the form of a once-off voucher from the International Organisation for Migration, which had asked the embassy to submit a list of Zimbabweans for inclusion.
Chaurura said about 3 300 Zimbabweans had successfully registered for food assistance. Priority would be given to expecting mothers, unemployed youth and women-headed households.
Some Zimbos who missed the deadline were reportedly asking for an extension of the deadline so that they too could apply for food aid, Chaurura said they could not extend the deadline because they were already processing the requests they received before the deadline passed.
