First Continental Report On The Implementation Of Agenda 2063

The first continental report on the implementation of Agenda 2063 has just been released. The African Union observes that AGENDA 2063 is “Africa’s blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future.”

The Union also notes that the agenda is the continent’s strategic framework that aims to deliver on its goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.

It was adopted by African Heads of State and Government during the January 2013 African Union Summit. The First Ten-Year Implementation Plan of Agenda 2063 which spans from 2014 to 2023, outlines a set of goals, priority areas and targets that the continent aims to achieve at national, regional and continental levels.

The first continental report on the implementation of Agenda 2063 notes that the continent has made some remarkable progress towards attaining the goals defined in Agenda 2063’s First Ten-Year Implementation Plan.

The report is an assessment of 31 African Union Member States & 6 Regional Economic Communities towards achieving Africa’s blueprint and master plan for sustainable development and economic growth.
