A Zimbabwean national, Washington Takura Muzweir, was arrested on Wednesday in Vadodara City, India, for allegedly assaulting a man and forcibly transferring money from the complainant’s bank account.
He is also accused of slapping a police constable who intervened in the matter.
As reported by <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/cities/ahmedabad/zimbabwe-man-held-for-assaulting-man-9670745/">India Express</a>, Muzweir is a student at a university in Waghodia. The victim, Rameshkumar Nandlal Agarwal, is a construction site manager responsible for managing the property Muzweir had rented in India and was looking to vacate.
Muzweir allegedly assaulted Agarwal over a dispute regarding the return of the security deposit for the rented flat.
When Agarwal intervened in a heated argument between Muzweir and the mother of the flat owner, Muzweir allegedly attacked him and forcefully transferred Rs 14,000 from Agarwal’s bank account into his own.
When the police arrived, Muzweir reportedly attacked two constables who were trying to control the situation.
Muzweir has been booked under two separate FIRs for assault, forced money transfer, and attacking police officers. Agarwal said:

I told him the aged woman was alone at home, yet he barged in. When I asked him to leave, he dragged me to the lift, stripped me to my undergarments and assaulted me continuously, while forcing me to transfer money through a payment app.

Police said Muzweir wanted his Rs 16,000 deposit back, but the owner stalled because he wanted to follow due process.
Meanwhile, a second FIR has also been lodged against Washington by the constable who he allegedly assaulted.
An FIR (first information report) is a document prepared by the police after verifying the facts of the complaint. It may contain details of the crime and the alleged criminal.
Kapurai police station has booked the accused under BNS) Sections 115 (2); 121(2); 333 296(b) [obscene acts], 308(2) [extortion].

A Zimbabwean student, Mike Lungu, who had been detained in Zambia for overstaying his visa, has been released after Good Samaritans raised the US$500 fine.
He was detained by immigration officials for overstaying in the neighbouring country.
Lungu completed his A Levels in nine months, instead of the regular two years, and was studying law at the University of Zimbabwe.
He appealed for financial help before being released with the support of Good Samaritans.
Lungu’s aunt, Samantha Simasiku, who is based in Zambia, was quoted by <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/genius-student-released-in-zambia/">H-Metro</a> as saying that the young man was released with the support of well-wishers. She said:

l have been pushing for Mike to be released prayerfully. Many thanks to all the well-wishers and helpers who carried the burden off my shoulders and came through for the young man, God bless you.

Lungu entered Zambia on March 29 and got a 30-day non-extendable business visitor.
His visa expired on April 28 but he stayed up to September 5.
Lungu was arrested at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport as he sought to leave the country and travel back to Zimbabwe.
He had just completed short courses in Zambia.
He was ordered to pay a fine of US$500 or risk being jailed before being deported.
A recent report claimed that an estimated 10 000 young Zimbabweans are reportedly enrolled at Zambian colleges and universities.
Parents and students who spoke to <a href="https://masvingomirror.com/10-000-zimbabwe-students-flock-to-zambia/">The Mirror</a> claimed that Zambian universities are generally cheaper and fees are paid in the local currency which is stable, unlike the Zimbabwe dollar.
In Zambia, fees start from as little as $300 per semester and the quality of education on offer is reported to be higher than what is offered in Zimbabwe.

"Genius" Zimbabwean Student Arrested For Overstaying In Zambia Freed

A 20-year-old Zimbabwean student was arrested in India on Sunday at an airport in Mumbai after a live bullet was allegedly found in her bag during a security check.
According to a <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/mumbai/live-bullet-in-zimbabwean-pupils-bag-says-its-planted/articleshow/103150262.cms">Times of India report</a>, Zimbabwean national, Progress Marumbwa (20), who is in the country on a student visa, to pursue studies in Punjab, claimed that the bullet had been planted in her bag.
She is now facing charges under sections of the Arms Act.
Marumbwa, who was to join a bachelor’s degree course in “medical laboratory science”, reportedly arrived in Mumbai around 5 AM and was to take a flight to Delhi and then proceed to Ludhiana.
She told the police that her classes were to commence on Monday.
During the airport security check, a junior security officer Dhiraj Shirole, spotted the bullet while screening her bag.
He pointed out the matter to the senior security officer, Nilesh Gaikwad and a physical check of the bag led to the live bullet.
Murambwa’s lawyer, Prabhakar Tripathi, said she was sent to police custody for a day.
The lawyer told the court that the bullet was found in the upper pocket of the bag and said she was unaware of how it landed there. He said:

Nothing incriminating was found at Zimbabwe airport when she cleared security check. She is just 20 and has come on a student visa.
She hails from a poor family… She’s worried about how she would arrange for the bail amount and money required to travel to Ludhiana after release.

Live Bullet Found In Female Zimbabwean Student's Bag At An Airport In India

A Zimbabwean student who is pursuing medical studies at Vincent Pol University in Poland has launched a shoe-cleaning company in the east European country.
Nqobani Sibanda (22), launched the “Shoe Laundry by Que” on 6 January this year in Lublin, Poland with the aim of providing a shoe cleaning and customising service.
The launch was facilitated by an African-run business initiative called the Entrepreneurs Networking Forum, an organisation founded by Poland-based Zimbabwean poet, author and publisher, Mthulisi Ndlovu.
The Entrepreneurs Networking Forum says its focus is to empower international citizens in the diaspora and enhance entrepreneurial collaborations.
Sibanda said <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/bulawayo-youth-launches-shoe-cleaning-company-in-poland/">told the Chronicle</a> that the launch was made possible through long-term investments and perseverance. He said:

I have been saving for this business for the past two or so years and finally reached the target of my capital investment.
I actually started saving up a bit before I even settled in Europe and the success of everything is also owed to the support that I got from close friends and family who chose to invest in my vision.
We are four guys and we clean all types of shoes from formal to casual sneakers. Honestly, we were not prepared for such a response from so many clients.
So far, we have received positive feedback and ratings, a clear sign that people appreciate our services.
My friends and relatives have been forthcoming and we have received so much support from Vincent Pol University, which also endorsed our brand, therefore enhancing confidence and broadening the sphere of potential clientele.
… In shoe customisation, we do specific desired paintings on shoes or change shoe colours.
This enhances cultural exchange and fosters diversity, tolerance, and general exhibition of the richness of our creative African history.
There is so much power in this form of storytelling as we incorporate it with fashion designs.
</blockquote>
Sibanda said on average, they clean 30 pairs per week.
Sibanda did his education at Inkanyezi Primary School in Lobengula suburb, Inyathi High and Tennyson Hlabangana High School.
He said he was raised by a single parent and routinely sold food items on the streets with his brother.
