ZBC News photojournalist Idah Mhetu has died. Details about her passing away are, however, still sketchy.
Mhetu’s death was confirmed by the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangwana on Sunday morning. He tweeted:

According to her LinkedIn profile, Mhetu was a Midlands State University (MSU) alumna.

ZBC Photojournalist Idah Mhetu Has Died

Former ZBC News anchor <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Oscar_Pambuka">Oscar Pambuka</a> has been jailed for six years for fraud.
Pambuka and former Highfield Member of Parliament Psychology Maziwisa were last year convicted of fraud and were supposed to go to jail for two years and six months each but instead, “they disappeared,” The Herald reported.
Pambuka was this week convicted in another case of fraud and remanded in custody for sentencing while Maziwisa has not been accounted for and is still on a warrant of arrest.
The courts activated Pambuka’s warrant of arrest following his conviction at Mbare magistrates’ court. He was yesterday brought before High Court judge Justice Pisirayi Kwenda for a default inquiry and was committed to prison.
Pambuka and Maziwisa were initially convicted of two counts of fraud and each sentenced to six years and five months in prison.
However, they will only serve two years and six months each after the rest of the term was conditionally suspended.
<h2>What happened:</h2>
i). They were fraudulently awarded a tender to do public relations work for ZESA Holdings by former Energy minister Samuel Undenge at a time the power utility had its own functional public relations department. ZESA’s subsidiary, the Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC), lost over US$12 000 in that deal.
ii). Pambuka attempted to defraud a Harare-based transporter of R36 000 after misrepresenting to him that he was Croco Motors director Mr Chingwena and wanted advance money to pay for shipment of his motor spare parts in South Africa. He was found guilty in this case on Wednesday.
Pambuka’s alleged accomplices, Ngonidzashe Mbauya and Elmore Mwenye, were cleared and acquitted of the charges.

Oscar Pambuka Jailed 6 Years

Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) has announced that Mr Alson Mfiri is now the Acting Director of News and Current Affairs.
Mfiri was previously the Director for Special Projects.
The former news anchor and Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe spokesperson is taking over from Mr Gilbert Nyambabvu who is now the Director of Digital Platforms and Innovation.
ZBC has made several changes in executive management in the recent past with some saying it is recycling its workforce, an approach they say has hamstrung transformation efforts.
The recent changes come when the broadcaster has been immensely affected by the coronavirus after 30 of its workers earlier this week tested positive for the virus and are all currently isolated at home.

In this video, ZBC secretly records a man who conducts illegal abortions in Mbare. The man is reported to have aborted several pregnancies. Zimbabwe, however, is still divided on abortion. Many women have died trying to poke out the pregnancies. Watch the video below:

The government through the Zimbabwe Digital Broadcasting (ZimDigital) migration project is providing funding for local content producers such as filmmakers. The government is disbursing funds directly to the cast members to prevent misappropriation of funds. Overseer of the ZimDigital programme and Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) chief executive officer, Mr Obert Muganyuri said,
<blockquote>This method of payment was adopted right from the beginning as we became aware of the challenge of lump sum disbursements to persons in control of productions. Apart from the risk of the cast and crew being shortchanged by those in control, an even bigger risk is the money being diverted to other uses other than the intended purpose. We believe the approach that we have taken safeguards against such risks and also protects those who provide production services…The rights to the production remain with the producer who is being assisted in the context of the purpose of the broadcasting fund with the idea being that of storing programmes so that they can be made available to any player who would be riding on the digital platform to complement their own production efforts.</blockquote>
