President Emmerson Mnangagwa warned senior ZANU PF members on Thursday against misusing social media platforms to create divisions, discord, and confusion within the party.
Addressing the 380th Session of the Politburo at the party headquarters in Harare, the President emphasized the importance of unity and order among the party’s rank and file. Said Mnangagwa:

At this stage of our political development and with the maturity of our revolutionary party, it is disheartening to note the unbecoming levels of mud-slinging and other counter-revolutionary tendencies, including the broadcasting of party issues on social media platforms.
These acts continue to cause discord and confusion among the membership base. No one must put our party into disrepute. This is unacceptable. Such behaviour cannot be tolerated and must stop.
</blockquote>
A social media policy is being developed to guide party members.
Mnangagwa urged party members to adhere to the party constitution, founding principles, and procedural integrity.

Mnangagwa Warns ZANU PF Members Against Social Media Misuse

A ZANU PF member in Matabeleland South Province assigned to the Beitbridge West constituency’s ongoing campaign for the 09 December by-elections died on Saturday while on a campaign trail.
The deceased identified as Sister Moyo Bhebhe, was reportedly taken to Beitbridge Hospital after complaining that she was not feeling well but died soon after admission.
Her death was also announced in a ZANU PF WhatsApp group. The message that was posted in the WhatsApp group on Saturday seen by <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200020136/zanu-pf-official-dies-on-campaign-trail">NewsDay</a>, read:

Comrades, this is both painful and energy-sapping. We were with this sister in the Ward 14 programme in Beitbridge West.
Yesterday, (Friday) we left her at the command centre. Today (Saturday) we went with her but she appeared unwell.
We tried convincing her to remain behind but she insisted on going to the programme.
When we knocked off, she showed signs of stress and we took her to hospital where all failed with her blood sugar level reported high, above 40. It is too hot here (in Beitbridge).
To us it’s painful but her courage to die on duty is worth all respect. For us who were with her, it has badly impacted us. But this is a heroine who has gone.

The deceased was campaigning for the ZANU PF candidate for Beitbridge West Thusani Ndou who lost to CCC’s Morgan Ncube in the 23-24 August 2023 Harmonised Elections.
CCC leader Nelson Chamisa’s preferred candidate, Morgan Ncube, who was recalled in October by party activist <a href="https://pindula.co.zw/Sengezo_Tshabangu">Sengezo Tshabangu</a>, who declared himself CCC interim secretary general, will contest again. Tshabangu’s candidate is Blessing Choeni.
Other candidates for Beitbridge West by-elections are Blessing Brendan Dube an independent and Thoriso Moyo, the only female candidate, from ZAPU.

ZANU PF Member Dies On Campaign Trail

ZANU PF members reportedly assaulted a Bulawayo-based journalist and damaged her phone on Monday.
<a href="https://cite.org.zw/byo-journalist-assaulted-by-zanu-pf-members/">CITE</a> reported that the journalist, Annahstacia Ndlovu, who writes for Voice of America (VOA), was covering clashes at the Fifth Avenue market where ZANU PF members were chasing away vendors who are not card-carrying members from their vending bays.
She said she and other freelance journalists were at the Bulawayo Media Centre when they received an alert from informal traders from the market about the skirmishes. She said:

After receiving word on the violence, I with other journalists namely, Tuso Pamenus, Lungelo Ndlovu and Simbarashe Muparangada rushed to the market to see and capture what was happening there.
</blockquote>
Ndlovu said while she was interviewing the affected vendors, the ZANU PF members returned and accosted her demanding that she stops recording. She said:
<blockquote>
Luckily enough, I captured them in the video as they approached us. Those ZANU PF men told me not to take the video and asked me who I was.
I introduced myself as a journalist but they ordered me to delete the video I had taken.
They pushed me to their vehicle while assaulting me as their other accomplices ran away.
I asked them why they were beating me but they didn’t answer as they took away my mobile phone.

She said she recognised the individuals who attacked her and that she had reported the incident to the police.
Ndlovu was in Gweru the previous day, on Sunday, covering the CCC rally at Mkoba Stadium and still had footage of the event on her phone.
She said after her assailants went through the footage, they accused her of being “Chamisa’s person” and deleted some videos.
The journalist said her attackers did not destroy the phone, but her other phone, an iPhone fell to the ground and was damaged.

ZANU PF Members Assault Journalist

Police have revealed the names of six ZANU PF members who died in a road traffic accident that occurred along Murambinda Betera Road near Mugombe Primary School on Saturday evening.
On Sunday, police said an Isuzu lorry with 40 passengers on board collided head-on with a Nissan Diesel truck that had one passenger on board resulting in six fatalities, with 18 other passengers injured.
In a statement released on Monday evening, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the victims were positively identified by the next of kin as follows:

<li>Danford Mugombe (53) of Mugombe Village, Buhera,</li>
<li>Veronica Mugombe (69) of Mugombe Village, Buhera,</li>
<li>Forward Mandishona (39) of Vengesai Village, Buhera,</li>
<li>Tinotenda Chinyanganya of Mugombe Village, Buhera,</li>
<li>Barnabas Edson of Mangezi Village, Buhera,</li>
<li>Netsai Mukute of Mukute Village, Buhera.</li>
</ul>
The ZRP has urged drivers to be cautious on the roads and adhere to all road rules and regulations.

Police Release Names Of Buhera Accident Victims

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a road traffic accident that claimed the lives of six ZANU PF members in Buhera on Saturday evening.
In a statement, ZRP said an Isuzu lorry with 40 passengers on board collided head-on with a Nissan Diesel truck which had one passenger on board.
Police said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. Reads the statement:
<blockquote>
The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on 25/03/23 along Murambinda – Betera Road, near Mugombe Primary School, in which six people died while 18 others were injured when an Isuzu lorry with 40 passengers on board was involved in a head-on collision with a Nissan Diesel truck which had one passenger on board.
The bodies of the victims were taken to Murambinda Hospital mortuary for postmortem whilst the injured are admitted at the same hospital.
</blockquote>
Police, however, are yet to release the names of the six people who perished in the tragic accident.
The Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ) has attributed road accidents to speeding, overtaking error, not giving way, following too close, reversing error, negligent pedestrian/ cyclists and fatigue.
Individuals can take measures to prevent the chances of accidents when driving. These are:
<ul>
<li>Drive at the prescribed speed limits on the various roads. Always remember that “Speed thrills but kills”.</li>
<li>Always put on helmets, seat belts and other safety equipment before driving a bicycle/motorcycle/vehicle. Always remember that “Safety saves”.</li>
<li>Do not drink and drive. Always remember that “You cannot hold a pen properly after two pegs, what about the driving wheel?”</li>
<li>Never use mobile phones or earphones while driving. Always remember “A mobile call on the road may be the last call of your life”.</li>
<li>Know the traffic signs, signals, lights and traffic safety rules before you hit the road. Always remember that “Road safety rules are the best tools to avoid accidents”.</li>
<li>Do not drive for long hours in a stretch. Have proper breaks after every 2 hours of continuous driving. Always remember that “Man is a man and not a machine”.</li>

Police Confirm Accident That Killed 6 ZANU PF Members In Buhera

Six ZANU PF members died on Saturday evening and 17 others were seriously when a truck they were travelling on was involved in an accident in Buhera.
The lorry reportedly collided head-on with another vehicle in the Mugombe area of Buhera.
According to the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Information, Public and Broadcasting Services Ndavaningi Mangwana, three of the deceased died on the spot and the other three died at Murambinda Hospital. Tweeted Mangwana:

A Lorry carrying ZANU PF supporters was involved in an accident along the Murambinda-Birchnough Bridge road.
Three people died on the spot whilst the other three died at Murambinda Hospital making six deaths.
The other 17 have serious injuries and are in hospital.

ZANU PF held primary elections in Manicaland and other seven provinces on Saturday and party members who were involved in the accident were presumably returning from voting.

<li>Inexperience </li>
<li>Poor visibility</li>
<li>Road rage</li>
<li>Fatigue – which may result from long hours on the road, lack of sleep, or other factors.</li>
