Award-winning gospel musician Dorcas Moyo has expressed her gratitude to controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo, who recently gifted her a 2025 Toyota Fortuner and US$20,000.
In an open letter addressed to Chivayo, Moyo said that the level of generosity shown by him should never go unmentioned, as failing to do so would be tantamount to gross ingratitude. She said:

Chivayo announced on Monday, April 07, that he had gifted a car and cash to Moyo following the online backlash she faced in the lead-up to the 31 March protests.

Dorcas Moyo Hails Chivayo For "A Rare Deed Of Generosity" After Receiving A Car And Cash

Zimbabwe’s Finance Ministry paid over R1.1 billion to a South African company awarded contracts to supply election materials, with more than R800 million of that amount immediately flowing into bank accounts linked to companies owned by businessman Wicknell Chivayo.
Chivayo has faced accusations of securing government contracts through bribery, although he denies the allegations.
Ren-Form CC, a commercial printing company based in Johannesburg, was selected without a tender process to supply materials to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) for the August 23, 2023, general elections.
An analysis of Ren-Form’s bank accounts, conducted by South Africa’s Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) between April 5, 2023, and May 16, 2024, revealed significant price inflation for the election materials.
The materials included ballot papers, biometric registration kits, a central server, non-flushing toilets, indelible ink, and tents. The inflated prices charged to Zimbabwe’s treasury were said to include commissions for Chivayo and his partners.
For example, Ren-Form invoiced the ZEC R23 million for a central server that could be bought online for R90,000. The company also billed for 2,000 non-flushing toilets at R68,700 each, although similar units typically retail for around R10,000.
Ren-Form also supplied biometric voter registration (BVR) kits to the ZEC. Originally quoted at US$5,000 each, the price of the kits nearly tripled to nearly US$16,000 by the time the final invoice was submitted. For comparison, similar BVR kits cost the United Nations Development Programme US$3,600 per unit for the 2021 elections in Honduras.
According to the FIC, the Finance Ministry transferred a total of R1,167,364,300.51 (approximately US$61.1 million) to two of Ren-Form’s bank accounts at Standard Bank in South Africa.
In addition, the ministry made a direct payment of R156 million to an account under the name of Edenbreeze, a company owned by Chivayo, for “architectural, engineering, and other technical services.”
In the confidential report dated October 30, 2024, FIC said:

Ren-Form received over R1 billion from the Zimbabwe ministry of finance and economic development. More than R800 million was transferred to the business bank accounts of Wicknell Chivayo, mainly Intratrek Holdings and Dolintel Trading Enterprise.

Once the funds were deposited into the accounts of Chivayo’s two companies, significant payments were made to his personal and other business accounts. One personal account alone received over R36 million, reportedly for car purchases.
Among the companies paid large sums by Chivayo’s company Intratrek were Agile Venture Capital, Makopah Holdings, Platinum Group, WMC Trading, Opened 4 All Trading &amp; Projects, and Asibambeki Platinum Group, which received a staggering R351 million. Asibambeki is listed with Emmanuel Musanyenda as its sole director.
Chivayo also made notable payments to various businesses, including R4 million to the law firm Strauss Scher Inc., R5.4 million to car dealer Daytona, R1.6 million to travel agency Flight Centre South Africa, and R5.6 million to NN Truck and Trailer. 
Chivayo also transferred R1 million to Zimbabwean makeup brand Christian by Hadassah. Other payments included R28.8 million to Kumba Group and R9.4 million to Indo Logistics.
The Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) submitted its findings to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s Financial Intelligence Unit, as well as to South African authorities, including the South African Revenue Service and the South African Police Service, urging them to begin investigations into the matter.

Chivayo then mocked Zimbabweans calling for Mnangagwa’s resignation, saying the President will not be forced out of office through Twitter and YouTube. 
This appeared to be a reference to Geza, who has been using these platforms to transmit his messages to the public. Added Chivayo:

Chivayo also gifted Moyo “a small $20,000 in cash for petrol and to treat yourself at the salon, my dear sister. You deserve it after all this stress and the hate speech.”

Chivayo Gifts Dorcas Moyo A Car After Torrent Of Hateful Speech And Cyber-bullying

One of the armed robbers involved in a US$74,000 robbery at a farm owned by Wicknell Chivayo’s in-laws in Marondera has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for this crime and four others.
Bigboy Nampungo, 27, was sentenced to 60 years by Harare regional magistrate Jesse Kufa after admitting his role in the robbery. The crime at Alfa Omega Farm was split into two counts. The stolen money was believed to be part of the lobola (bride price) paid by Chivayo to his in-laws.
However, the magistrate consolidated the sentences, allowing the sentences for the first and second counts to run concurrently, the third and fourth counts to run concurrently, and the fifth and sixth counts to run concurrently. This resulted in a reduced sentence of 30 years.
Prosecutor Shambadzeni Fungura presented evidence confirming Nampungo’s involvement in the crimes, a required step in the trial even when the accused pleads guilty.
Fungura told the court that one of the victims, Gerald Gara Muteke, 36, a farmer living at Alfa Omega Farm in Marondera, was asleep with his wife when he heard an unusual noise inside their house.
Fearing trouble, Muteke used his cellphone torch to look under the bedroom door. Moments later, the robbers broke in, demanding cash, and stole US$18,000 in cash, a 9mm pistol, and two Samsung phones.
They also forced Muteke to open a safe, from which they took more valuables. The total value of the stolen items during this part of the robbery was US$25,000, but some items worth US$2,500 were later recovered.

Chivayo Lobola Money Robber Sentenced To 60 Years In Prison

Two suspected robbers who allegedly robbed Wicknell Chivayo’s in-laws of US$74,000 at their Marondera farm appeared in court on Tuesday, March 25.
Peter Maramba Vhiya (43) and Takudzwa Maisvoreva (24), both from Chitungwiza, faced two counts of robbery before Regional Magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa. They were informed that only the High Court could grant bail.
They were remanded to April 10 to allow for the case of a third suspect to be joined with their case.
The National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) Lancelot Mutsokoti told the court that on March 18, at around 1 AM, the pair, along with accomplices still at large, raided Alfa and Omega Farm in Marondera while armed with three rifles, two pistols, bolt cutters, machetes, and iron bars.
Mutsokoti further alleged that upon arrival, the suspects ambushed Petros Mabunhu, a security guard employed by DM Security, assaulting him with iron bars and kicking him repeatedly. They tied his hands and legs with cable ties before forcing him into the farmyard.
There, they encountered another guard, Zex Mutasa Rusike, disarming him of a shotgun without ammunition.
Rusike was similarly bound and marched to the front guardroom, where a third guard, Medic Zhakata, was also attacked and restrained.
The security guards were left under the watch of two armed accomplices while the rest of the gang broke into the main house.
Using bolt cutters, they forced entry through the burglar screen and kitchen door, eventually confronting Gerald Muteke in his bedroom.
Fearing for his life, Muteke surrendered US$18,000 in cash, a loaded Sarsilmaz pistol, and two Samsung smartphones (an S23 and an S24).
The gang then moved to Vimbai Muteke’s bedroom, where they demanded cash and the safe keys.
She handed over US$1,100, the safe key, and a Samsung Galaxy A35. Inside the main bedroom safe, the robbers took an additional US$55,000.
As the robbers continued their raid, Elphas Maruta, armed with a Lee-Enfield .303 rifle loaded with four rounds, advanced toward the house after being alerted of the robbery.
A shootout ensued, with Maruta firing two shots and the suspects firing back three shots.
The gang ultimately fled the scene with a total of US$74,600 in cash and valuables. The police later recovered stolen property worth US$3,800.

According to ZimLive, police sources revealed that the three suspects, all from Hopley in Harare, were arrested on Thursday by detectives from the CID Stores and Business division.
A constable, identified as Mukuva from the Kopje Police Station, is reportedly on the run after being linked to the crime.
The robbery occurred in the early hours of March 18, during which an estimated US$74,100 — part of the lobola (bride price) payment made by Chivayo for his wife, Lucy “Lulu” Muteke — was allegedly stolen.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in court on Saturday.

Three Suspects Arrested For Allegedly Robbing Wicknell Chivayo's In-Laws' Of US$74,000

Police have appealed for information to help identify and arrest the 20 suspects responsible for an armed robbery at Omega Farm in Marondera on March 18, around 1 AM, during which cash and valuables were stolen.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed on Tuesday that an investigation is underway into the robbery, during which the assailants took US$74,100 in cash, a pistol, a Samsung S24, a Samsung S23, a Samsung Galaxy A35, and other valuables.
The robbers, armed with rifles, pistols, bolt cutters, machetes, and iron bars, attacked the farm’s security personnel. 
Nyathi said the suspects assaulted family members, cut through burglar screens, forced open doors, and gained entry into the house.

Chivayo has denied claims of paying US$300,000 in lobola but confirmed sending US$75,000 to his in-laws for the ceremony.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has defended controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo, describing him as a philanthropist who is spending his own money.
In a meeting with editors at State House on Monday, Mnangagwa addressed allegations that Chivayo is acting as his frontman by distributing vehicles and cash donations to various individuals, including members of the ruling ZANU PF party, musicians, actors, and retired footballers.
The claims suggest that Chivayo is being used to distribute these gifts to garner support for Mnangagwa who is pushing a presidential term extension through his proxies in ZANU PF.
Mnangagwa strongly dismissed these claims, saying he does not have access to such large sums of money and refuting suggestions that he is funding Chivayo’s charitable activities. He said:

Investigate where you think I’m getting the money to give Chivayo to distribute, rather than wasting my time worrying about someone who is using his own money. Mnangagwa’s comments stand in stark contrast to those of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, who appears to view Wicknell Chivayo as an unscrupulous businessman.
Speaking to mourners at the National Heroes Acre last month, Chiwenga, while not directly naming Chivayo, made a pointed remark that seemed aimed at him.
Referring to a “chigananda,” a term that implies someone who profits at the expense of others, Chiwenga indirectly criticized the businessman’s character. He said:

Wicknell Chivayo has weighed in on the recent proposal in the USA to allow President Donald Trump to serve a third term.
He argued that exceptional leadership should be allowed to extend beyond term limits if it serves the best interests of the people.
In a post on his social media, Chivayo drew a parallel to Zimbabwe, where he believes President Emmerson Mnangagwa has shown remarkable leadership.
He called for the possibility of extending Mnangagwa’s presidency, arguing that such a move would align with the will of the people.
Chivayo said that, in a functioning democracy, the pursuit of progress should take precedence over rigid constitutional constraints.
He further stated that he doesn’t mind if critics claim he supports an extension of Mnangagwa’s presidency for personal gain, asserting that he is willing to speak out on the issue regardless of any perceived self-interest. Said Chivayo:

I personally believe that PROGRESS must take precedence over PROCEDURAL CONSTRAINTS created by a Constitution.
Most will say I’m singing for my supper and yes indeed, without a shadow of a doubt, I will also sing for breakfast and lunch too.

Chivayo stressed the importance of policy continuity, pointing to leadership changes in the U.S. that have caused inconsistencies, and argued for a similar approach in Zimbabwe to ensure stability and foster economic growth. He said:

In my view, a performing President like PRESIDENT E.D. must be allowed to COMPLETE his vision for the nation. The WILL OF THE PEOPLE should always be at the core of democracy.
As we have seen in the U.S.A, policy inconsistencies caused by frequent leadership changes DISRUPT national progress.
For example, most of former President Biden’s policies implemented since 2020 and the recent banning of TikTok and were all SWIFTLY undone by President Trump on his first day in office, despite there being a Supreme Court order banning TikTok in USA.
By contrast, Zimbabwe is a CONSTITUTIONAL DEMOCRACY and even the President abides with Court judgments.
We cannot however afford policy INCONSISTENCIES, such as what is being experienced in the USA, especially considering PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA’s strong foundation for ECONOMIC GROWTH and stability.
Extending his leadership will certainly ensure CONSISTENCY and CONTINUITY, which are critical for achieving Zimbabwe’s long-term goals and VISION 2030 !!!!

Chivayo argued that the constitution should evolve to reflect the will of the people, and although President Mnangagwa has pledged not to seek a third term, Chivayo believes his leadership deserves an extension for the benefit of the nation and the success of Vision 2030. He wrote:

The CONSTITUTION is a LIVING DOCUMENT, made BY THE PEOPLE and FOR THE PEOPLE. I believe that it must evolve to reflect the aspirations of the majority.
As a CONSTITUTIONALIST, President Mnangagwa is on record indicating that he will NOT run for a third term.
However, the PRESIDENT has earned the trust of the people, who recognize his EXCEPTIONAL leadership and the progress achieved under the SECOND REPUBLIC.
With the GRACE OF GOD an extension of time in office for this WONDERFUL LEADER will certainly benefit the nation and ensure the success of Vision 2030 and beyond.

Chivayo has faced criticism from his detractors, who often label him a “tenderpreneur” — a term used to describe individuals who secure government contracts through political connections rather than fair competition.
 His critics allege that his success is more about political ties than business acumen.
Chivayo made inflammatory statements in leaked audio recordings, where he claimed to have a strong influence over President Mnangagwa and the political system.
In one recording, he allegedly boasted about being the president’s “blue-eyed boy” and suggested that his lucrative contracts were a result of his close relationship with Mnangagwa.
“Ndakachibata kuti dzvii,” he reportedly said, implying that the President is under his control.

Wicknell Chivayo thinks President Mnangagwa is doing a great job in Zimbabwe and should be allowed to stay in power longer for consistency and progress. He believes the constitution should change to reflect what the people want. Chivayo has faced criticism for his close ties to the president and leaked recordings that suggest he influences political decisions. Despite this, he still supports extending Mnangagwa's term for the benefit of the country's future.

Chivayo: Extending Mnangagwa's Term Will Ensure Consistency And Continuity

Social media personality Mmatigari has again criticized Wicknell Chivayo for recklessly throwing around US dollars and flying with a group of “mapostori” in chartered jets, calling it a mockery of hardworking Zimbabweans who cannot identify any legitimate business he operates that benefits the public.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mmatigari said that if Strive Masiyiwa, John Moxon, or other business figures engaged in similar displays of wealth, people would not begrudge them, as they at least know the source of their money, despite potential disapproval of their business practices.
Masiyiwa is the founder and chairman of Econet Global, a leading telecommunications company with operations in multiple countries, while Moxon has a major stake in Meikles Limited. The group includes renowned brands like Victoria Falls Hotel, TM Supermarkets, Meikles Stores, Meikles Centar Mining, and Tanganda Tea Company.
Mmatigari suggested that if Chivayo were engaging in such antics in countries like China, he would have faced severe consequences. Wrote Mmatigari:

The nation has spent the last several weeks plugging smuggling along the our borders, making sure people pay duty and taxes. There is even a ministerial committee making sure the government collects money.
It’s a severe source of national disaffection if there are some devious characters with no known businesses throwing around hard currency like confetti in the face of so much hardship. In China, Xi Jinping would have waved his sjambok of discipline.

Former Premier Soccer League boss Twine Phiri and former ZIFA financial director Phillemon Machana have withdrawn their appeals at the Court of Arbitration for Sports, where they were challenging Nqobile Magwizi’s election as ZIFA president.
Phiri and Machana had filed the appeal, alleging interference in the election after businessman Wicknell Chivayo offered a US$10 million sponsorship to the association and personal vehicles to ZIFA councillors in exchange for voting for Magwizi.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Phiri and Machana confirmed that they were withdrawing their appeal.
They explained that the decision was made to give football space to heal, stabilise, and grow, allowing the new executive committee to begin with a clean slate and without any contest.
The two also said that Chivayo, being no stranger to football sponsorship, should no longer be seen as having interfered in the election process. They added:

We are grateful that in this season, ZIFA has attracted massive support and contributions from diverse sections of the population to whom we are indebted.

Earlier this month, Chivayo proposed a meeting with Phiri and Machana to “apologize, and agree on a gentleman’s private settlement, rather than have them tarnish my precious name over unfounded allegations.”

Businessman Wicknell Chivayo has honoured his pledge to settle Highlanders’ debt to former coach Baltemar Brito and his assistant Antonio Joao Torres.
Highlanders faced sanctions from the FIFA Disciplinary Committee last week after failing to pay a balance of over US$26,000.
As of October 17, 2024, the club owed Brito US$14,778, along with US$237.71 in interest, and Torres was owed US$11,788, with US$193.74 in interest.
In a statement released by Highlanders on Wednesday, 12 February, the club confirmed that Chivayo had fully settled the outstanding debts as promised. The club said:

Chivayo faces accusations of vote-buying after pledging financial support for newly elected ZIFA president, Nqobile Magwizi.
In a statement on X, Chivayo dismissed the accusations, saying his promise of US$10 million and 78 brand-new vehicles to the 78 ZIFA voting delegates, if Magwizi won, did not amount to vote-buying or violate FIFA’s Code of Ethics.
He described the allegations as “baseless and misleading,” asserting that he is not bound by FIFA’s Code as he holds no official role within ZIFA. Wrote Chivayo:

If the losing candidates are so heartbroken, I’m happy to meet them, apologize, and agree on a gentleman’s private settlement, rather than have them tarnish my precious name over unfounded allegations.

Twine Phiri and Phillemon Machana, the losing candidates in the ZIFA presidential election, have taken their legal battle to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
They are challenging Magwizi’s victory in the January 25 poll, accusing him of benefiting from third-party interference.
Magwizi won decisively, securing 61 of the 77 votes cast (80%), while Machana and Phiri received six and four votes, respectively. T
he claimants allege undue influence, citing Chivayo’s financial promises and endorsements as compromising the election’s integrity.
In their CAS submission filed on January 29, Phiri and Machana seek the annulment of the results and demand fresh elections within 30 days.
They also want Magwizi barred from contesting, claiming he failed to distance himself from external influences, including Chivayo’s public support.
The petition further accuses Youth Minister Tino Machakaire of endorsing Magwizi before the election, with allegations of one delegate photographing their ballot under duress.
Phiri and Machana argue the election violated ZIFA statutes, which mandate immediate reporting of undue influence to FIFA and CAF.

Businessman Wicknell Chivayo is trying to make peace with the people who lost in the ZIFA election. He is accused of buying votes by promising money and cars if his chosen candidate won. In a social media post this Saturday, Chivayo defended his actions, arguing that his offers of support to ZIFA under Magwizi’s leadership did not amount to vote-buying. He said:

It has come to my attention that an alleged “PETITION” is being intended for submission to FIFA through social media, alleging that my public pledge to support ZIFA under the leadership of NQOBILE MAGWIZI constitutes “vote-buying” and violates the FIFA Code of Ethics.
I REFUTE these allegations, which are BASELESS, MISLEADING, and totally UNFOUNDED. My commitment to Zimbabwean football has always been driven by a desire to see the sport THRIVE and reach its FULL potential, not by any ulterior motives to influence electoral outcomes.

Chivayo further argued that the FIFA Code of Ethics, specifically Articles 20 and 21 governs the offering and accepting of gifts or benefits by individuals bound by the Code. He added:

I am NOT BOUND by this Code, as I am neither a ZIFA official, board member, nor councillor. My contributions are those of a PRIVATE BUSINESSMAN acting within the bounds of the law and out of a genuine commitment to the DEVELOPMENT of football in Zimbabwe.
Furthermore, there is NO evidence that Mr. Magwizi or any ZIFA officials have accepted or acted upon my offers, rendering any claims of alleged undue influence entirely UNSUBSTANTIATED and WITHOUT ANY BASIS!

Chivayo said his support for Magwizi is rooted in Magwizi’s qualifications, including his integrity, business acumen, and passion for the sport. He said:

Chivayo Denies Influencing ZIFA Vote

Wicknell Chivayo has said he will not be intimidated or moved by threats from “failed politicians,” in what appears to be a response to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.
Chiwenga who is acting in Mnangagwa’s absence on leave, recently warned corrupt individuals within the ruling ZANU PF party, accusing them of enriching themselves through ill-gotten gains.
He made these remarks at the burial of former Deputy Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Justin Mupamhanga, at the National Heroes Acre on Monday.
In his speech, Chiwenga referenced individuals who, during the liberation struggle, were known as “zvigananda,” a term used to describe people who had gained wealth through dishonest means.
Chiwenga said the founding principles of Zimbabwe were based on equal opportunities for all, not for those who profit from corruption and looting. He said:

We all swore to a shared future in which everyone had a place on the table, a place in the sun, for a culture of equal opportunity where every Zimbabwean served in equal measure.
Zveubvanzu ubvanzu kudya kwemhumi takazviramba. Our Vision 2030 is for all of us, kwete dzamunoti mbinga, kuhondo taizviti zvigananda, those who grow big tummies through ill-gotten wealth and questionable morals.

Some interpreted this as a thinly veiled reference to Chivayo, who has been accused of amassing large sums from inflated state tenders.
In a statement posted on his social media pages on Wednesday, Chivayo responded, declaring that he would not be “moved by nor shaken by any veiled threats from failed politicians.” He wrote:

I will always support President E.D. Mnangagwa and ZANU PF’s vision, and no individual, Big or Small, can instill fear in me to decide otherwise. I will neither be moved by nor shaken by any veiled threats from failed politicians.

In the same statement, Chivayo also denied any involvement in a letter allegedly written by him, which reportedly requested local banks to permit him to withdraw up to US$20 million per month for various transactions.
In 2005, Chivayo was convicted of money laundering. He received a five-year prison sentence, with two years suspended. The case involved R837,000, which was part of the proceeds of a crime.

Wicknell Chivayo said he's not scared of VP Chiwenga's threats. Chiwenga warned corrupt people in ZANU PF. Some think Chivayo was targeted. Chivayo says he supports President Mnangagwa and won't fear failed politicians. He denied a letter requesting big money withdrawals. Chivayo was convicted of money laundering in 2005. He got a jail sentence. He said he supports ZANU PF and won't be scared by anyone. VP Chiwenga warned corrupt people in the government.

Chivayo Hits Back At VP Chiwenga, Calls Him "A Failed Politician"

Wicknell Chivayo has endorsed Nqobile Magwizi’s candidacy ahead of the ZIFA presidential election at Rainbow Towers in Harare this Saturday.
Six candidates have been cleared to run for the ZIFA presidency: Magwizi, Philemon Machana, Marshall Gore, Martin Kweza, Makwinji Soma-Phiri, and Twine Phiri.
Chivayo, posting on his social media pages, claimed that Magwizi is a respected businessman with considerable expertise in finance, marketing, and sports administration. He said:

His track record includes securing multi-million sponsorships for Highlanders FC and Dynamos FC, demonstrating a blend of competence and passion for the sport.

Scottland Football Club has received a US$1 million donation from IMC Communications, an organisation fronted by Wicknell Chivayo.
The donation was announced on Friday night, just one day after the club secured a US$1.5 million annual sponsorship from Sakunda Holdings, owned by Kuda Tagwirei.
Scottland is owned by ZANU PF Member of Parliament, Pedzai Sakupwanya, who represents Mabvuku-Tafara in the National Assembly.
At the presentation of the US$1 million donation, Ecobank senior executive Mike Dengwane, who represented Chivayo, said the funds would assist the club in the construction of a new stadium. Said Dengwane:

This business of begging for and celebrating cars bought by corrupt convicted criminals who loot public funds will be a thing of the past.

Wicknell Chivayo saw a video of Simon &#8220;Pashoma&#8221; Ncube asking for help because he's struggling. Chivayo felt really sad for him. So, he's giving Ncube $20,000 and a truck to help him. Ncube used to be a famous radio DJ in Zimbabwe but now he's having a hard time. Chivayo wants Ncube to use the money and truck wisely to improve his farm. Chivayo can't meet Ncube in person because he's in Paris. But he hopes to see how Ncube's farm improves in the future.
