Two people were killed while 51 others were injured when a truck that they were travelling on was involved in an accident along Bulawayo -Victoria Falls Road on Friday.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the accident occurred at around 6:40 PM at the 330-kilometre peg along Bulawayo -Victoria Falls Road.
Reports indicate that the Shackman Tipper truck, which was carrying 69 passengers, overturned and landed on its left side.
16 passengers were able to escape the incident unhurt.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the victims were taken to Hwange Colliery Hospital mortuary for post-mortem while the injured were admitted at the same hospital.

Tipper Truck Overturns, Leaving 2 Dead And 51 Injured

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of five people who tragically lost their lives in a road traffic accident along Machongwe-Tarka Road in Chimanimani on Tuesday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 4:30 PM when the driver of a Nissan Diesel truck lost control of the vehicle. The truck veered off the road at a curve, resulting in the fatalities and leaving two others injured.
Police have identified the victims as follows:

<li>Beloved Mashava (34), a male adult of Manase Village, Chimanimani.</li>
<li>Constance Makoyani (26), a female adult of Chiumba Village, Chimanimani.</li>
<li>Frank Muusha (34), a male adult of Muusha Village, Chimanimani.</li>
<li>Christopher Rice (49), a male adult of Hangani Village, Chimanimani.</li>
<li>Nobert Magayo (26), a male adult of Chikukwa Village, Chimanimani.</li>
</ul>
Commissioner Nyathi implored motorists to avoid speeding when travelling on the country’s roads, especially when carrying goods passengers, and also not to mix goods and people.

Police Release Names Of Victims Of Chimanimani Truck Accident

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a tragic road traffic accident that occurred on Tuesday, November 26, at around 4:30 PM near a curve close to Chisengu Estate.
Five people were killed while two others were injured in the accident.
The ZRP gathered that the driver of a Nissan Diesel truck, which was carrying six passengers, lost control of the vehicle and it veered off the road.
The vehicle plunged into a steep valley before finally landing on its wheels.
It is suspected that the truck may have been speeding when it approached the curve, leading to the driver losing control.
The bodies of the victims were retrieved and transported to Chimanimani and Mutambara Hospitals for post-mortem examinations.
Meanwhile, the two injured people were taken to Mutambara Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
