The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched investigations into an alleged break-in at the office of the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Tongai Mafidi Mnangagwa, in Harare.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the reported break-in incident occurred between July 5th and July 8th, 2024. He said:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that investigations are being conducted in connection with a report of an alleged break-in at the office of the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Honourable Tongai Mnangagwa in Harare between 5th and 8th July 2024.

When contacted for comment, Mnangagwa confirmed the alleged break-in incident to <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200029406/break-in-at-ed-nephews-office">NewsDay</a> but said it remained unclear if any items were stolen during the reported break-in. He said:
<blockquote>
Someone or some people gained entry into my office at the ZTA House through the ceiling and left a visible sight that shows that they broke in.
They moved the panels over the weekend or Sunday night, I don’t know. We are just finding out now.
We are still searching [to see] if they took anything. We have police at the scene right now who are checking.
We are still investigating if there is something that is missing.

This alleged break-in incident at the office of Tongai comes just two weeks after a reported security breach and fire at the home of his cousin, Deputy Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion David Kudakwashe Mnangagwa, who is the son of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Break-ins involving the Mnangagwa family members are not entirely uncommon, as there have been similar reported incidents at President Mnangagwa’s offices during the height of the ZANU-PF succession battles before the November 2017 military coup.
When Mnangagwa served as the Minister of Justice and later as Vice President, his offices were reportedly broken into on multiple occasions.
However, many of these cases ultimately developed into “cold cases” with no resolution.
Some sceptics have questioned whether these break-in incidents involving the Mnangagwas may have been staged to elicit public sympathy, given the high-security expectations around the premises where they have occurred.

The police are investigating a break-in at Tongai Mnangagwa's office. It happened between July 5 and July 8. Tongai confirmed the break-in but is unsure if anything was stolen. This is not the first time Mnangagwa family members have experienced break-ins. Some people think these incidents might be staged for sympathy. Police are still investigating and Tongai is waiting to see if anything was taken. This has happened before to other Mnangagwa family members, but often no one is caught.

ZRP Launches Investigation Into Alleged Break-in At Tongai Mnangagwa's Office

The offices of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Deputy Minister Tongai Mnangagwa at the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) building in Harare were reportedly broken into on Monday night by unknown individuals.
Speaking to <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200029378/break-in-at-ed-nephews-offices">NewsDay</a> on Tuesday morning, Mnangagwa confirmed the break-in, saying the suspects had gained entry through the ceiling. He said:

We are still searching if they took anything. We have police at the scene right now.
</blockquote>
This incident comes just two weeks after a security breach and fire incident at the home of Tongai Mnangagwa’s cousin, David Kudakwashe Mnangagwa, who is the Deputy Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion and the son of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Unknown people broke into Tongai Mnangagwa's offices in Zimbabwe. They entered through the ceiling. Tongai Mnangagwa is the Deputy Minister of Tourism. It is not clear what they took. This happened two weeks after a security breach at his cousin's house, who is also a Deputy Minister. The police are investigating the break-in.

Break-in At Tongai Mnangagwa's Offices

A Harare man, Munyaradzi Antony Mwedziwendira (30), who assaulted the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Tongai Mafidi Mnangagwa and his host at a party, Wellington Vengesai, during a row over parking space last week, was on 05 February fined US$200 (or two months in jail).
As reported by <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/man-fined-for-assaulting-deputy-minister/">The Herald</a>, Mwedziwendira was convicted on his own plea of guilty to assault when he appeared before Harare magistrate Appollonia Marutya.
Prosecutor Thomas Chanakira told the court that last week on Tuesday, at around 10:15 PM, Mnangagwa and Handson Gapa walked out of Vengesai’s apartment at Trude Mansions on the corner of Sixth Street and Leonid Brezhnev (formerly Fife) Avenue in Harare after a party.
On the way to the parking lot, Vengesai came across Mwedziwendira who was shouting on top of his voice complaining that Vengesai and his friends had parked their vehicles in a way that blocked his motor vehicles.
Mwedziwendira charged towards Mnangagwa whom he held by the collar before turning and charging towards Vengesai.
The accused also held Vengesai by his beard using both his hands and asked him why he had not shaved.
He went on to threaten to shoot the two but did not produce any firearm.
Gapa restrained Mwedziwendira before he drove off at high speed.
Although he was fined US$200 for assault, Mwedziwendira did not go free and was remanded in custody on three other charges of dealing in dangerous drugs, where he is jointly charged with his employee, Jasper Cephas Kuziva.
Mwedziwendira and Kuziva are facing three counts of unlawful possession of mbanje, unlawful possession of unspecified medicines, and unlawful possession of unregistered medicines for resale.
Allegations are that police received a report that Mwedziwendira and Kuziva were dealing in dangerous drugs at the Fife Avenue shopping centre.
Police were also told that the duo had been involved in a brawl with some members of the public.
Detectives went to the shopping centre where the two fled, leaving behind four vehicles.
On Wednesday at around midday, the two accused persons were arrested and Kuziva was found in possession of the car keys.
Chanakira said police searched the vehicles, a silver BMW 530I, a red VW, a Mercedes Benz C240, and another silver Mercedes Benz C220 and recovered two sachets of mbanje and a passport in the name of Antony Mwedziwendira from the Mercedes Benz C220.
Also recovered were 26 prepared cigarettes of mbanje and 21 sachets of dagga, 30 pentral-50 pills, Sildenafil tablets, eight cobra 120 tablets, 13 black cobra 150, 7 black cobra 200 tablets, nine sex force, 100mg sildenafil citrate tablets, four Oto tablets, one sachet of Viamax power sex coffee, one sachet of superpower capsules passion energy, one sachet of man king tablet, one sachet of Bang Bang strong man capsule, one sachet of AK 47 super, mbanje packaged as 67 rods and 156 sachets in a black cooler box placed in the boot.
The recovered drugs had a street value of $825 000. The seized drugs and the vehicles are being held as exhibits.

Man (30) Fined US$200 For Assaulting Tongai Mnangagwa

Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry <a href="https://pindula.co.zw/Tongai_Mnangagwa">Tongai Mafidi Mnangagwa</a> was allegedly assaulted by a suspected drug dealer following a misunderstanding over parking space in Harare on Tuesday, 30 January.
According to a police report seen by <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/">Pindula News</a>, Mnangagwa and his aides had parked their convoy outside an apartment block Trude Mansions at the corner of Sixth Street and Fife Avenue in Harare’s Avenues area when the altercation occurred. Reads the police report:

On 30 January 2024 around 2215 hours, the complainant parked his convoy of motor vehicles outside 61 Trud 
Mansions, corner 6th Street and Fife Avenue, Harare, where he was attending a birthday party.
After the party, complainant proceeded to where he had parked his vehicles and was intercepted by the accused 
person who was complaining that his convoy was blocking his parked motor vehicles.
Accused person charged towards complainant and manhandled him and assaulted him with open hands. The aide’s camp intervened and the accused person went on to assault one of the aides with open hands once on the 
face.
</blockquote>
Police said upon realizing that he was dealing with a deputy minister, the accused person, Antony Mwedziwendira, fled from the scene and left his vehicles. Says the report:

A report was made at ZRP Fife Avenue. Scene was attended, motor vehicles were towed to ZRP Milton Park.
CID Drugs was advised after suspicion that the accused person might be dealing with drugs. Searches were 
conducted on the four vehicles belonging to the accused person.
Various drugs were recovered from the searched vehicles…, some of the boots were not searched because they were locked…. Complainant sustained no visible injuries.

Two passports, one of them in the name of Mwedziwendira were found.
The report said the drugs found in the vehicles were: 3x 100mls bronclear cough syrup, a green lunchbox with 30 pentral-50 pills, sildenafil tablets, 8 cobra 120 tablets, 13 black cobra 150, 7 black cobra 200 tablets, 9 sex force 100mg sildenafil citrate tablets, 4 oto tablets, 1 satchet of viamax power sex coffee, 1 satchet of super power capsules passion energy, 1 satchet of manking table, 1 satchet of bang bang strong man capsule, 1 satchet of AX 47 super capsules, 4 bottles x100mls bronclear cough syrup in a brown 20l plastic container, and 2 satchets of dagga.

Deputy Minister Tongai Mnangagwa Assaulted

The new cabinet will have 3 Mnangagwas following today’s appointment of Tongai Mnangagwa and David Kudakwashe Mnangagwa as deputy ministers. ED himself is the third.
Tongai Mafidi Mnangagwa, reportedly a nephew, has been named the deputy Minister of Tourism And Hospitality. 
David Kudakwashe Mnangagwa, who is reportedly the president’s son, is now the deputy Minister of Finance.
The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/2023/09/11/president-mnangagwa-has-announced-the-new-cabinet/">new cabinet</a> was announced on 11 September and follows the disputed results of the Zimbabwe 2023 elections.
The elections have so far been rejected by SADC and AU as not meeting the requirements outlined in the Zimbabwean constitution and SADC guidelines for free, fair and credible elections.
ZEC however declared Emmerson Mnangagwa the winner and he was sworn in on Monday 4 September 2023.

3 Mnangagwas In New Cabinet As ED Appoints Son And Nephew

Harare South MP Tongai Mnangagwa has said he wants the people who allegedly forced Mbudzi Roundabout Vendors to pay US$1 condolence tokens following the <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/liberation-war-fighter-highten-nkomo-declared-national-hero/">death of the late national hero, Highten Nkomo</a>.
The vendors allege that suspected ZANU PF members told them that they were working on Tongai Mnangagwa’s instructions. A vendor told NewsDay:
<blockquote>
We were told we would be chucked out of trading spaces if we don’t pay. The money was collected on Monday after the burial of the late hero, Nkomo.  Those who did not pay were listed so that they pay the following day (Tuesday). They said they were instructed by (Tongai) Mnangagwa.

Tongai Mnangagwa, who is the nephew of President <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Emmerson_Mnangagwa">Emmerson Mnangagwa</a>, however, denied the allegations. He told NewsDay that there was no need to collect US$1 for the late hero since the coffin was provided by the state. He said:
<blockquote>
That is absolute lawlessness. We do not support lawlessness. Do you think a man of my calibre can send people to go and harass vendors? I want to make it clear that whoever was approached by those people must go and report the matter to the police. They must make reference in their report that the MP has ordered them to make that report. I want those culprits to be punished.
We will ensure sanity returns at the Mbudzi roundabout, which has turned into a breeding ground for bogus ZANU PF party members and other law-enforcing authorities. Whoever is using my name must be punished. I wonder where they want to take that money to. Are they going to buy a coffin for our late hero who was laid to rest?

He said there are criminals who go around in the ZANU PF regalia which is contrary to the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Hebert_Chitepo_School_of_Ideology">Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology</a> teachings.
ZANU PF chairman for Harare province <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Godwills_Masimirembwa">Godwills Masimirembwa</a> said while the people who collected the money were wrong, the vendors should also have brought evidence and names of the perpetrators “so that we deal with the culprits at party level.”

Tongai Mnangagwa Wants People Who Collected "Condolence Money" In His Name Punished

Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans’ Association (ZNLWVA) spokesperson Douglas Mahiya who is running for the Harare South parliamentary seat has claimed that President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s nephew, Tongai Mnangagwa, was imposed in his constituency in order to challenge him. Mahiya who was one of Mnangagwa’s biggest and most vocal cheerleaders during the Zanu-PF factional fights claimed that Tongai had been previously rejected by Zanu-PF.  He also accused Tongai of using violence to try to win the polls.
Speaking on the Zanu-PF primary elections, Mahiya said,
<blockquote>This guy (Tongai) was rejected at district level, he was rejected by the province and the politburo, but suddenly two days before the elections, he appears from nowhere as a candidate. The most disturbing thing is that he is very violent and his supporters are beating up innocent people.</blockquote>
Ironically, before the Zanu-PF primaries, which were plagued with irregularities, Zanu-PF representative in the United Kingdom Nick Mangwana had claimed that Tongai Mnangagwa had indeed been disqualified from running in the polls.
