Scottland Football Club has received a US$1 million donation from IMC Communications, an organisation fronted by Wicknell Chivayo.
The donation was announced on Friday night, just one day after the club secured a US$1.5 million annual sponsorship from Sakunda Holdings, owned by Kuda Tagwirei.
Scottland is owned by ZANU PF Member of Parliament, Pedzai Sakupwanya, who represents Mabvuku-Tafara in the National Assembly.
At the presentation of the US$1 million donation, Ecobank senior executive Mike Dengwane, who represented Chivayo, said the funds would assist the club in the construction of a new stadium. Said Dengwane:

Your network is your net worth if I can say. I congratulate you Sakupwanya for receiving this massive boost.
The US$1 million is for the team and also helping in the construction of the Mabvuku Stadium which you have undertaken to do.
We know the stadium will not be used by Scottland only. It is for the whole community and the whole catchment area of Mabvuku including Tafara, Ruwa, ZIMRE Park, Eastview, Epworth and Msasa.
We wish you all the best in the league and I can assure you that this sponsorship is not a once-off thing.
We will continue to chip in and make sure you achieve whatever you have set out to achieve.

Scottland chairman Tonderai Sakupwanya thanked Chivayo for the gesture. He said:

In the recently concluded Northern Regional Soccer League (NRSL) season, Sakupwanya, a gold dealer with close ties to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, rewarded his players with generous winning bonuses, paying as much as US$1,500 per match. He also promised each player US$10,000 if they achieved promotion to the top flight.
Sakupwanya’s associate, Wicknell Chivayo, further rewarded the players by giving each of them a Toyota Aqua vehicle for winning the NRSL title.

Chivayo, a controversial figure known for winning multi-million-dollar government tenders and living a lavish lifestyle, had vowed to provide vehicles and US$1 million to Scottland if they beat MWOS to the title.
Scottland were awarded the trophy on Friday, and the club’s owner, Pedzai Sakupwanya, quickly presented the trophy to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
However, the ruling that allowed Scottland to overtake MWOS is still in dispute, as Karoi United has appealed the decision.
The NRSL Disciplinary Committee granted Scottland a 3-0 win over Karoi United, despite the match being abandoned in the 88th minute with the score tied at 1-1. If ZIFA overturns this ruling, MWOS would be crowned champions instead.
In a social media post on Monday, Chivayo, who is closely connected to Zimbabwe’s political elite like Sakupwanya, said that his gifts were intended to boost morale within the Scottland camp. He wrote:

The club, owned by Mabvuku-Tafara legislator Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya, has reportedly secured a 30-year lease for Number One Grounds, located adjacent to Mabvuku High School, from the City of Harare.
In an interview with <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/15-000-seater-stadium-set-for-mabvuku/">The Herald</a>, Scottland FC chairman Tonderai Sakupwanya, who is Scott’s brother, said that the proposed stadium will accommodate at least 15,000 spectators.
The facility will also have various ancillary amenities, including a swimming pool, basketball and tennis courts, as well as a rugby field and a cricket field. Said Sakupwanya:

I can confirm that we now have a 30-year lease from the City of Harare to have Mabvuku Number One Ground.
We are planning to build a 15,000-seater stadium there next year. The stadium is not going to be confined to Scottland only but it will be open to everyone.

It will be an all-encompassing facility with a high-performance centre available as well because we want to develop sport in all ways that we can as Scottland FC. So, we are working round the clock to see to it that we can start the work that needs to be done.

The now deteriorated Lafarge Stadium once buzzed with activity when Circle United, Mabvuku’s only team to compete in the top flight, was a formidable presence in the domestic league in 2002.

With this decision, Scottland now holds 84 points from 37 games, leading MWOS by two points, who have 82 points from the same number of matches.
The match between the two teams at Chikangwe Stadium in Karoi was abandoned in the 88th minute with the score tied at 1-1.
The Northern Region Soccer League Disciplinary Committee found Karoi United guilty of causing the match abandonment based on referee Martin Dingo’s report.
Allegedly, Dingo had opted to officiate the Division One fixture instead of a Premier Soccer League (PSL) match scheduled for the same weekend.
He reported being struck by a missile thrown by a Karoi United fan, preventing him from completing the final two minutes of the game.
Football stakeholders suspect corruption in handling the matter, given the departure from precedent in dealing with abandoned matches.
For example, in 2018, a match between Bindura United and Mushowani Stars was abandoned in the 80th minute at 2-2 after referee Langton Chitata was assaulted by an unknown assailant.
Bindura was fined US$1500, and Mushowani was cautioned, but the 2-2 result stood.
Similarly, in the following season, a Northern Region Soccer League match between Black Rhinos and Mushowani was abandoned in the 80th minute, also at 2-2, after referee Nelson Mawanda was assaulted. 
Both Rhinos and Mushowani were fined US$2000, but the 2-2 result remained.
In contrast, for the Karoi United vs. Scottland match, the Disciplinary Committee cancelled the 1-1 scoreline and awarded Scottland the win, benefiting them with just one match left in the season and providing a clear advantage over MWOS.
Scottland will host Black Mambas at Rufaro Stadium, while MWOS will face Agama at Ngoni Stadium on Friday in the final round of fixtures.
MWOS can still secure the sole ticket to the Premier Soccer League if they win and Scottland draw, thanks to their superior goal difference of plus-3.

The judgment could significantly impact the league title race, as Scottland is in close competition with log leaders MWOS FC for promotion to the top flight.
The two teams are separated by just one point, and a favourable ruling for Scottland could elevate them to the top of the standings before the season’s final matches.
The match was abandoned while tied at 1-1, with referee Mathew Dingo claiming he was struck by an object thrown by a fan, preventing him from continuing the game with eight minutes remaining.
According to league rules, if a match is abandoned due to actions by a team’s players, officials, or fans, the other team is awarded a 3-0 victory.
Karoi United has not denied that a fan struck the referee but contends that he was hit by the match ball, not a foreign object as alleged.
The match was played on September 15, and the hearing was conducted last month.
Match commissioner Kanzvimbo Kanzvimbo reported that match officials were consistently threatened with violence throughout the game. Part of Kanzvimbo’s report reads:

He was verbally warned several times and at 82 minutes, the referee (Dingo) went to caution him for a similar offence (and) during that process, Karoi United supporters who were behind the goals threw missiles at him and he fell. The referees had to go to the changing rooms for safety and further treatment. Karoi United fans advanced and surrounded the changing room demanding that they be released.
I was sprinkled with unknown liquid substances as I moved in and out of changing rooms to check on the safety of players.

After attending a farewell visit at the Dynamos training session on Tuesday morning, former coach Genesis Mangombe reportedly surrendered the Ford Everest vehicle he had been using. He then promptly joined Scotland FC, where he was provided with a new vehicle.

Genesis Mangombe was fired from Dynamos and then he joined Scottland Football Club as a new head coach. Some say he was fired because of a draw in a game. Scottland confirmed the new coach setup. Mangombe is now the head coach, William Nyasulu is the assistant, and other people have roles too. After leaving Dynamos, Mangombe gave back the car he was using and got a new one from Scottland.
