Delta Corporation has welcomed the recipients of its 2025 bursary programme, encouraging them to strive for excellence, integrity, and innovation as they work towards their academic goals.
Speaking at the Bursary Induction Programme on Wednesday, Patricia Murambinda, the General Manager of Corporate Affairs at Delta Corporation, urged the students to stay disciplined and resilient when facing challenges. She said:

One of the bursary recipients, Patience Machesi from St. James Chikukwa, said that as a girl, this is a big opportunity because many young women often face challenges in receiving scholarships.
Bradley Makuvaro, a Lower Six student at Bradley High School, said it was an honour to receive the bursary.
Susan Mashinganidze, a parent of one of the recipients, also praised Delta Corporation for its inclusive approach. She said:

Delta Corporation does not discriminate. My child has a spinal deformity, yet she was accepted for this scholarship. I am very grateful that she now has the support to complete her A-Level studies.
</blockquote>
The Delta Corporation Bursary Programme is designed to help talented students who may not have the financial means to continue their studies.
The programme offers financial support to students pursuing Advanced Level and university education.

Delta Urges 2025 Bursary Recipients To Embrace Integrity And Innovation

The Islamic Republic of Iran has offered 1 000 educational scholarships for Zimbabweans with the first batch of students set to start their studies before the end of this year.
The programme will target lecturers from polytechnics and industrial colleges who will undergo six-month courses as trainers of trainers.
The offer comes after Vice President Constantino Chiwenga recently led a Zimbabwe delegation that participated at the second Iran-Africa International Economic Conference.
Speaking to <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/iran-offers-zim-1-000-scholarships/">The Herald</a>, Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development Permanent Secretary Fanuel Tagwira, said:

We believe in action. We believe in implementation and we have learnt a lot since coming here. Several things have happened. With the partnership we now have with Iran, they have offered us 1,000 scholarships for our education.
We sat down and went through their training centre and we saw what they are providing and as we go home, we are going to mobilise so that we can send the first batch of our teachers who are in polytechnics and industrial colleges to come here and acquire skills for six months then they will become trainers.
This is a training of trainers and for each discipline, we will send a batch of 12 people to make a full class so that they can teach them in English and they will acquire the skills and after six months they go back and train others.
We have met with their Ministry of Science and Technology and Innovation and as we discussed with them, we already have a memorandum of understanding with them and they are saying let’s move.
Our first step is establishing a steering committee that will be responsible for agreeing on the programmes that we want to work on.

Iran Offers Zimbabwe 1 000 Scholarships

The number of Zimbabwean students enrolled at United States colleges and universities has increased by 18.7% over the previous academic year, the US Embassy in Zimbabwe has revealed.
In <a href="https://cite.org.zw/zimbabwean-students-flock-to-us-universities/">a statement</a> released on Monday, the Embassy said growing numbers of Zimbabweans are choosing U.S. higher education, citing the 2023 Open Doors Report issued by the Institute of International Education. It said:

With a reported 1,789 Zimbabwean higher education students in the United States for the 2022/23 academic year, Zimbabwe is the second leading country in sub-Saharan Africa, per capita, and the sixth in the overall number of students in the United States.
The number of Zimbabwean undergraduate students increased by 24.4%, representing one of the largest increases among all sub-Saharan African nations.
</blockquote>
The Embassy attributed the increase to a combination of factors, including strong academic, athletic, and creative scholarships, comprehensive support from the EducationUSA program, and robust exchange programs that facilitate academic and professional exchange opportunities. Reads the statement:

The United States remains in the top three destination countries for Zimbabweans studying abroad, after South Africa and the United Kingdom.
The growing interest of Zimbabweans studying in the United States affirms the strong bonds between the people of Zimbabwe and the United States.
Of Zimbabweans studying in the United States, 51.4% are undergraduates, 29.4% are graduate students, and 17% are involved in optional practical training (OPT), with the remaining students enrolled in non-degree programs.
Several factors contribute to the success of Zimbabwean students’ applications and acceptance to U.S. institutions.
Academic, athletic, and creative scholarships provide a pathway for many students. The U.S. Embassy’s EducationUSA program provides information and guidance to students interested in pursuing tertiary studies in the United States.
Four EducationUSA advisors in Harare, Gweru, Mutare, and Bulawayo help students identify the best fit for their needs among the thousands of diverse options in the United States.
EducationUSA also provides Opportunity Funds to select high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds to remove application and travel-related financial barriers.
The U.S. Embassy in Zimbabwe also maintains robust exchange programs that enable Zimbabweans to travel to the United States for academic and professional exchange and prioritizes visa appointments for student and exchange visitors.
In the past decade, more than 500 Zimbabweans have participated in the U.S. Fulbright Program, a fully funded academic exchange that represents just a fraction of the Embassy’s nearly two dozen exchange programs.

Zimbabwean Students Flock To American Universities

Dozens of youths turned up in Bulawayo last week to showcase their talents during a routine selection exercise for prospective beneficiaries of United States Universities academic and football scholarships.
More than 100 boys under the age of 18 thronged the event at White City Stadium B Arena with some coming from as far as Harare, Hwange, and Chinhoyi.
Mkhokheli Dube, who started his career at Highlanders before moving to the United States of America on a football scholarship, said he was delighted with the turnout. He said:

Obviously, we are delighted at the turnout. We have kids from all over the country.
It’s good to see parents driving from afar and also locals supporting the event; it is the future of their children.
There was good talent on display. At the moment, we are looking at all positions. We have a clue about the expectations of universities in the US.
The boys did their best and we were all impressed.

The trials are set to be completed this week.
Dube is being assisted by a number of development enthusiasts and Bulawayo Chiefs’ Kelvin Madzongwe.
Dube had a successful stint with New Revolution in the US Major League.

Mkhokheli Dube Leads US Scholarship Trials

The EducationUSA office of the United States Embassy seeks to identify and recruit 20 Zimbabwean students from low-income families who score at least 13 points (out of 3 subjects) “A” level examinations to join the EducationUSA Opportunity Funds Program (OF). 
The program is open to all Zimbabwean students who intend to begin their undergraduate studies in the US in August 2021.
The Opportunity Fund program is an initiative by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs to make U.S. higher education more accessible to non-elite international students from low-income backgrounds.
EducationUSA advisers in Harare, Gweru, Mutare and Bulawayo, through regularly scheduled training sessions, will assist students throughout the application process to secure admission and financial aid from universities in the United States.
