The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) has warned the public about a surge in fraudulent recruitment calls made by individuals impersonating ZPCS officials. These scammers are utilising social media platforms to spread counterfeit recruitment advertisements.
In a statement released on September 26, the ZPCS said that these individuals are deceiving job seekers into paying fees for non-existent employment opportunities.
The ZPCS emphasized that it does not charge any fees for recruitment, selection, or training. All recruitment activities are conducted directly by the ZPCS without the involvement of third parties. Reads the statement:
The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) urgently calls for public awareness regarding a disturbing increase in fraudulent calls for recruitment being perpetrated by unscrupulous individuals masquerading as ZPCS officials.

These criminals are targetting job seekers, tricking them to pay fees for non-existing employment opportunities within the ZPCS.
The ZPCS has observed with great concern, a surge in scammers leveraging social media platforms disseminating counterfeit recruitment advertisements.
Their ultimate aim is to get money from hopeful and unsuspecting candidates, thereby causing financial loss and emotional distress to many.
Despite our consistent efforts to educate the public through various media outlets, we regret to inform members of the public that numerous individuals have already fallen prey to these deceitful practices.
The brazen nature of these scams is alarming, with some impostors even openly soliciting applicants to attend fake selection exercises.
The ZPCS categorically asserts that it does not charge any fees for recruitment, selection or training. 
All recruitment activities are conducted directly by the ZPCS without imposing any costs on candidates and we do not engage any third parties in the official recruitment processes.
We therefore wish to reiterate that all authentic ZPCS recruitment initiatives are publicly announced via established mainstream print and electronic media outlets.
Interested applicants are required to respond with written applications, and selections are conducted at designated ZPCS centres across all provinces.
In response to this growing threat, we strongly urge the public to independently verify the authenticity of any recruitment advertisements.
Citizens should consult the nearest ZPCS offices to confirm the legitimacy of any calls for applications to join the ZPCS.
Let there be no doubt, we are committed to protecting job seekers from these criminal activities and we need everyone’s help to combat these atrocities.

They do all recruitment themselves and don't use third parties. People are being urged to be careful and verify any recruitment ads before paying any money. ZPCS is working to protect job seekers from these scams and asks for everyone's help in stopping them.

Rising Recruitment Scams Worry Prisons And Correctional Service

Reports have emerged suggesting that ZANU PF, through its government workers affiliates, including the Teachers for Economic Development (ED) and Nurses for ED, may be involved in the hijacking of civil service recruitment processes.
As reported by <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200024553/zanu-pf-hijacks-govt-recruitment">NewsDay</a>, ZANU PF affiliates have set up centres in various provinces. These centres shortlist government job seekers who are also party members.
The shortlisted members’ names are then taken to the Public Service Commission (PSC). Government officials are allegedly pressured to prioritize these ZANU PF-affiliated candidates for employment or training.
The recruitment process is overseen by ZANU PF district and provincial party chairpersons, as well as party legislators and affiliate leaders.
Jobseekers are required to provide evidence of their links to ZANU PF, such as party membership cards or participation in party events.
For instance, in Chikomba District, ZANU PF Chikomba West legislator and ICT minister Tatenda Mavetera is leading the recruitment efforts.
A communiqué sent to party members seen by NewsDay reads:

Chikomba West Constituency Teachers for Economic Development Update: All teachers who completed their course not employed go and register to MP’s [member of Parliament] office next to N Richards Chivhu.
MP [Tatenda] Mavetera is a true leader who leads by example. That’s finalisation of second phase. Ngatifonerei vanhu vane madetails ari pazasi (Let’s contact the people with details below). #Famba Zanu PF Famba #Famba Mavetera Famba (Forward Zanu PF, Forward Mavetera).

However, PSC secretary, Tsitsi Choruma, professed ignorance on the matter, saying “I have never seen the ZANU PF recommendation letters”.
ZANU PF director of information, Farai Marapira told NewsDay that the recruitment programme did not originate from the party. He said:

As the economy is starting to recover and expanding, more jobs are opening up and we want these jobs to be taken up by Zimbabweans, so we conscientise the nation on the jobs that are coming up so that people fill up these spaces.
The affiliates, in their autonomy have the right to behave as they do, but this is not a ZANU programme and ZANU PF does not look for jobs for people, but if it is the wish of the affiliates to do so, I believe it is within their mandate because I believe they are independent juristic independent institutions. But we encourage Zimbabweans to take up the new jobs as our economy is expanding.

ZANU PF activists have, at times, been associated with incidents of misconduct, such as hijacking government initiatives like food aid distribution and misappropriating presidential agricultural inputs.

ZANU PF Accused Of Hijacking Civil Service Recruitment

The Public Service Commission (PSC) is set to recruit 5 000 teachers in 2024 as the Government seeks to reduce the teacher-to-pupil ratio from 1:45 towards the target of 1:35.
Speaking to <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/psc-to-recruit-5-000-teachers/">The Herald</a>, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Torerayi Moyo said the Government doesn’t have the financial capacity to recruit all unemployed teachers sitting at home. He said:

We wait for allocation from the fiscus as the Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion looks at the Budget for a particular year and he can tell us how many teachers are going to be absorbed.
From next year, we are going to recruit 5 000, but we can’t absorb all of them who are at home.
Let’s do domestic mobilisation. Then the national cake when it expands more people will be recruited, but now we are limited by resources, that’s the limiting factor.

Unemployed teachers are supposed to register with the PSC and their districts.
In September this year, the Government recruited 2 500 teachers, but this was not enough to meet the demand as the country has a shortage of 25 000 teachers.
Speaking during the 2024 pre-budget presentation in Parliament in September, Moyo said the Ministry plans to decentralise the recruitment of teachers to the provincial and district levels, with the approval of the Public Service Commission.
Zimbabwe has a deficit of 2 800 schools, and Moyo said they are looking for public-private partnerships to fund the construction of new schools.

Govt To Recruit 5 000 Teachers In 2024 - Minister

Several job seekers have besieged a Bulawayo-based recruitment agency, Cosmopolitan Eagle Company, demanding refunds after the agent allegedly failed to facilitate overseas jobs and work permits for the applicants in violation of its promises.
Cosmopolitan Eagle Company, operating from Pioneer House in the city, placed advertisements claiming it was dealing in securing jobs and work permits as well as processing all travel documents for job seekers abroad.
Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya from Bulawayo told <a href="https://www.bmetro.co.zw/job-seekers-up-in-arms-with-recruitment-agent/">B-Metro</a> that he paid more than 1 000 to the recruitment agency but failed to secure the job that had been promised. He said:

A relative told me about Cosmopolitan Eagle Company saying it was helping people in securing employment in Poland, Germany and Turkey and l became interested before I went to inquire about the company.
I visited the company premises at Pioneer House and met Linah Mugondomukandapi who is the owner and she told me everything about their services and how the process was being done. She assured me that if l didn’t succeed she was going to refund me.

Ngwenya said in May 2021 he paid US$1 230 to Linah including US$1000 being application fee for a visa and US$230 travel insurance. He said:

After six months I was informed that my work permit was ready and had to organise money to go to the Polish Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa.
When l went to the Polish Embassy l was informed that l had a high chance of being denied a visa and I informed the agency about the matter and she advised me to apply.
After applying for the visa l got denied and when l came back home, I asked for a refund from Linah and she started telling me stories.
Just imagine I used US$400 to go to South Africa and back home. I got fed up and Linah had also stopped answering my calls.
It’s really painful that l lost US$1 630 and R1800 to this agent. I trusted this lady and yet she seems heartless considering that things are hard these days.
I still owe people the money that l borrowed and ties have also been broken with friends and family as they are all asking why there is no refund and some are even suspecting that I squandered the money.

Another victim who declined to be identified told B-Metro that she paid Linah US$920 in April claiming it was for visa processing.
She said Linah’s sister only paid her US$95 last month out of the US$920 she had paid.
Another victim who also requested anonymity said she was swindled of US$1 300 by Linah. She said:

To this day l have not been paid a cent from the total amount of US$1 300 which l paid to her to facilitate my recruitment abroad.
Linah has also not given me back my passport. When I reported the matter to the police they advised me that it was a civil matter and I’m now planning to sue her.
</blockquote>
When reached for comment by the publication, Linah said it wasn’t her fault that some of her clients were not successful in getting their visas.
She said she was working with her international partners to ensure that all her clients are refunded.

Job Seekers Besiege Recruitment Agency Over Broken Promises

The Zimbabwe Association of Doctors for Human Rights (ZADHR) has condemned the government’s plan to criminalise the recruitment of healthcare workers to work in other countries.
Speaking to <a href="https://www.voanews.com/a/zimbabwe-s-health-care-workers-condemn-plan-to-criminalize-foreign-recruiters-/7041125.html">VOA</a> on Friday, ZADHR president Norman Matara said that any attempt to prevent healthcare workers from leaving the country for better jobs would be illegal. He said:

Also our constitution, the Zimbabwe constitution, guarantees citizens have the right to move freely within the country or leave the country.
We don’t know why those comments were made by the honorable minister of health.
The government continues to use scare tactics and command approach to solving healthcare problems.
The government should note that health workers are not being pulled away from the country but pushed away from the country by the meager salaries they are getting. They are being pushed by the worsening economic crisis in the country.
They are being pushed by poor working conditions: lack of equipment, lack of sundries, and lack of medicines in the hospitals that they work in.
We urge the government to improve working conditions, and pay a living wage, you will find that people will not leave the country.

Last week Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, who is also the Minister of Health and Childcare, said the country will enact a law to make it illegal for other countries to hire healthcare workers from Zimbabwe.
Chiwenga also said the drain of healthcare professionals was as good as human trafficking and a crime against humanity.
Eustina Shava, a nurse who is leaving Zimbabwe in May for better work in Canada, told VOA that foreign recruiters are doing nothing wrong and their work should therefore not be criminalised. She said:

If we were given enough money, I don’t think anybody would love to leave their families, their relatives and work abroad.
But at the end of the day, we all want to achieve good things in life. We all want to buy houses, we all want to buy cars and we all want to send our children to good schools.
That’s the reason we are reaching out to recruiters. They have done nothing wrong. They are actually helping us to achieve certain things in life.

Reports indicate that more than 4 000 nurses and doctors have left Zimbabwe since February 2021.

Doctors For Human Rights Condemn Plan To Criminalise Recruitment Of Healthcare Workers By Foreigners

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has said the government plans to enact a law criminalising the recruitment of health personnel from Zimbabwe by other countries.
Chiwenga, who also doubles as the Minister of Health and Childcare, said the drain of healthcare professionals was as good as human trafficking.
Speaking on Wednesday, Chiwenga said stiffer penalties will be imposed on those he accused of committing a “heinous crime” of recruiting nurses and doctors from Zimbabwe. BBC quoted Chiwenga as saying:

If one deliberately recruits and makes the country suffer, that’s a crime against humanity.
People are dying in hospitals because there are no nurses and doctors. That must be taken seriously.
Zimbabwe frowns at this heinous crime which is also a grave violation of human rights.

Recruitment Of Zimbabwean Nurses A Crime Against Humanity - VP Chiwenga

Zimbabwean nurses and doctors have expressed despair after the World Health Organisation (WHO) banned the recruitment of health professionals from Zimbabwe.
Speaking to <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/health/article/200009362/nurses-fret-over-global-recruitment-ban">NewsDay</a>, Zimbabwe Professional Nurses Union (ZPNU) secretary-general Douglas Chikobvu said the massive brain drain in the health sector is due to poor salaries. Said Chikobvu:

As it stands, the future of Zimbabwean nurses set to leave for greener pastures has been dealt a big blow.
The government has been sort of abusive in how (it is) handling the plight of nurses.
Instead of addressing the root causes, (it is) coming up with a raft of measures to tie our already impoverished and starving nurses.
The reason for the massive brain drain is due to measly wages. What we all expected the government to do was to swiftly address bread and butter issues by awarding nurses a living wage in US dollars.

Following the move by WHO, the United Kingdom placed Zimbabwe on the Red List which means that active recruitment is not permitted from the southern African country.
Active international recruitment in the code is defined as the process by which UK health and social care employers target individuals to market UK employment opportunities, with the intention of recruiting to a role in the UK health or social care sector.
It includes both physical or virtual targeting, and whether or not these actions lead to substantive employment.
According to the latest statistics by the UK’s Office of National Statistics, at least 3 000 Zimbabwean health professionals left the country for the UK in the past two years.
Zimbabwe was among the top five countries that registered the highest number of citizens granted work visas to Britain during the same period.

Global Recruitment Ban A Huge Blow - Zimbabwean Nurses

The Airforce of Zimbabwe (AFZ) on Friday, 03 February, dismissed as false an advert circulating on social media claiming there will be a massive recruitment exercise by the AFZ in April and May.
In a statement, AFZ Public Relations Officer, Wing Commander Donovan Muroyiwa, said the advert did not originate from the organisation. Read the full statement below:

The Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) notes with great concern a wave of misinformation circulating on social media purposing that there will be a massive recruitment by the AFZ from 25 April to 3 May 2023.
The advert falsely states various trades and provincial centres where aspiring candidates should report on some given dates. The AFZ would want to categorically put it clear that the information is false and was never originated from the organisation.
Furthermore, the AFZ does not convey official messages through social media and undesignated platforms. Any advert on AFZ recruitment will be disseminated and broadcast through mainstream media such as newspapers, radio and television.
The public is, therefore advised to disregard information that is published, disseminated and propagated through unofficial social media sites or immediately verify the authenticity of such information from the AFZ Public Relations Department or Recruitment Office.

"It's Fake", Airforce Of Zimbabwe Speaks About Mass Recruitment Exercise Advert

The government is recruiting another 8 382 teachers to complement the existing staff.
Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education spokesperson Taungana Ndoro said 7 000 names were sent to Treasury for its concurrence and to budget for their salaries and allowances before they were engaged.
He said 1 382 names were still with the Public Service Commission (PSC) for vetting and approval. Said Ndoro:

We have 1 382 attrition posts awaiting PSC approval, and they will be recruited once the processes are done.
We also have 7 000 posts sent to Treasury for concurrence so they will also be joining once the process is done.
Everyone is back at school and it’s business as usual across the country.
However, there are schools that need more staff and that is why the process of engaging more teachers is in place.

Govt Hires 8 300 More Teachers

The Government is recruiting more qualified teachers to be deployed in 28 largely rural districts of the eight non-metropolitan provinces.
The teachers will be deployed to 28 districts in Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland West, Masvingo, Manicaland, Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South, and the Midlands.
The 28 districts include Muzarabani, Rushinga, Mount Darwin, Mudzi, Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe, Hurungwe, Chiredzi, Mwenezi, Chipinge, Binga, Lupane, Tsholotsho, Bulilima, Matobo, Gwanda, Insiza, Umzingwane, Gokwe North and South.
The recruitment is being done through the Public Service Commission (PSC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
In a statement, PSC secretary Tsitsi Choruma interested newly-qualified teachers should submit the required documents to the district office of choice by not later than 16 January. Part of the statement reads:

Those who are interested should complete application forms available at the Public Service Commission district offices.
Duly completed teacher application forms with certified copies of national identification, birth certificate, academic and professional qualifications including transcripts should be submitted to the district office of choice by not later than January 16.

Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education spokesperson Taungana Ndoro said qualified teachers will have the opportunity to work in their own districts. He said:

We are recruiting teachers from their own districts through our district offices so as to avoid the issue of transfers.
We are giving people the opportunity to work in their own districts so that it would be better for them.
The applications are still coming because the vacancies are still open. This is a lucky shot for people who grew up in those districts.

Govt Recruiting Teachers At District Level

Police have dismissed as fake the recruitment message circulating on social media.
ZRP spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi on Thursday warned the public that the purported recruitment message could be the work of fraudsters whose aim is to steal money from people.
In a statement, Asst Comm reiterated that ZRP does not use third parties for recruitment. Reads the statement:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police dismisses a false message which is circulating on social media platforms on alleged 2023/ 2024 massive police applicants recruitment process.
Members of the public and all potential applicants are advised to ignore this fake message.
The public should not submit application letters, life history, copies of identity documents and educational qualifications, to anyone, third party or Officer-in-Charge at a Police Station on or before 07th May 2023, as alleged in the false message.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police assures the public that formal communication will be made accordingly, through the appropriate media channels, when the normal recruitment process is rolled out and open to potential applicants to submit the relevant documents.
Meanwhile, the police has launched full-scale investigations into the import and origins of the message.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that it does not engage third parties to conduct recruitment on its behalf.
The public is strongly advised to be wary of these unscrupulous elements and therefore report at any nearest police station or contact the National Complaints Desk on telephone number (242) 703631 on the activities of these criminals who in most cases intend to dupe innocent members of the public of their money.

ZRP Dismisses Recruitment Message

Teachers’ unions have criticised the move by the government to recruit 7 000 teachers in 2023 saying they are too few.
Presenting the 2023 national budget in Parliament on Thursday, Ncube said the recruitment of a further 7 000 teachers will ensure the delivery of quality education.
Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) president Obert Masaraure said the move is welcome but does not fully address the shortage of teachers in schools. He said:

Zimbabwe has a shortage of almost 90 000 teachers and more are leaving the profession because of underpayment.
The 7 000 teachers we seek to recruit will be way below the numbers needed. Recruitment is however welcome and we should improve conditions of service to retain quality teachers.

Zimbabwe Teachers Association secretary-general Goodwill Taderera said:
<blockquote>
The number of teachers that are being funded is not enough. As we speak, we have serious understaffing in schools.
The number is not enough and that continues to exert pressure on teachers and that affects education.

In June, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Evelyn Ndlovu said the country had a shortfall of 25 000 teachers.
She also said the country has an establishment of 136 000 teachers.

7 000 More Teachers Are Not Enough - Unions

The Government has recruited 3 904 teachers, with most of them deployed to remote areas that are always facing staff shortages.
In March, the Public Service Commission (PSC) approved the recruitment of 1 464 teachers. This means that a total of 5 368 teachers have been employed since the beginning of the year.
The combined figures of teachers recruited in 2022 are more than 50 per cent of the targeted 10 000 teachers that were requested by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
The newly recruited teachers will be deployed to both primary and secondary schools.
Primary and Secondary Education communications and advocacy director Taungana Ndoro said schools in remote areas will get teachers who come from those communities in order to address constant transfers of teachers. Said Ndoro:

Most of the teachers that get deployed there end up requesting for transfer to join their families or move closer to home.
That is where we have challenges as some just occupy the position for just one or two years and then transfer.
There are others who don’t take up the assumption of duty in those areas maybe because they don’t come from those areas.
Therefore, there has been a deliberate effort to try and recruit teachers from particular communities to teach within those communities who will be able to stay longer in those communities and hopefully not transfer.

Ndoro said the latest recruitment of teachers will go a long way in addressing the shortcomings that exist in the education sector. He said:

It is significant because it will then help us adhere to Standard Operating Procedures so that we do not have bloated classrooms.
It also assists us in areas where there are no teachers at all and also for certain learning areas that are lagging behind.
It is a step in the right direction and as the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, we are very happy that the Public Service Commission and the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare have recruited those teachers.
We expect to get more teachers as the year progresses and even in future because we are in need of more teachers but this is a step in the right direction.

Govt Deploys More Teachers To Rural Schools

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Zimbabwe has warned the general public to be wary of recruitment scamming, saying incidents of that nature are on a rise.
In a post on its Twitter channel this Friday, UNDP reiterated that it publishes all job vacancies on its official website and does not ask for any form of payment during the entire hiring process. The statement read:

Following increased incidents of recruitment scamming, UNDP in Zimbabwe informs the public that all jobs are advertised on the official website and no payment is required at any stage of the hiring process.
The recruitment process is transparent and not influenced by one individual.

UNDP In Zimbabwe Issues Recruitment Scamming Alert

Qualified but unemployed teachers have criticised the online teacher recruitment system saying it overlooked those who completed their studies a few years ago in favour of recent graduates.
This comes after the government released a list of 3 816 educators recruited by the Public Service Commission (PSC) to serve in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
Some unemployed teachers said the online system disadvantaged those who had graduated earlier, as their details were not captured.
One of the aggrieved unemployed teachers told CITE that he graduated in 2019 and registered in December of the same year but is yet to be offered a job by the government. Said the teacher:

I graduated from the United College of Education in 2019 with a Diploma in Education specialising in Early Child Development.
I registered in December when registration opened and all those who I registered with have been employed including applicants who graduated later than me yet my name should be on the system.
I have been to the education office in Bulawayo, travelled all the way to Maphisa in Matobo and Plumtree to register but we are always told to come register and update our details.

Before the online system was introduced, unemployed teachers would submit their certification documents at their respective district or provincial education offices.
In an interview with CITE, Director of Communications and Advocacy in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Taungana Ndoro, said there were a number of fundamentals that were factored so it was unfair to criticise the recruitment system. Ndoro said:

Did these teachers do the same subjects, did they ask to be deployed in the same area, which districts or provinces did they sign for. All these are factors that come into play.

He stressed that the government could not hire all the unemployed teachers as there were few vacancies. Said Ndoro:
<blockquote>
You must investigate how many vacancies we have and the number of unemployed teachers.
There are about 20 000 to 30 000 unemployed teachers out there yet the ministry only has 3 000 vacancies, how do you expect us to take them all?.
What if the ‘lucky ones’ also applied several times before. As I said there are fundamentals that are considered when applicants apply.
Those who apply should not despair; their turn will come and will be taken if they are still interested.

Ndoro said that the online system was centralised at the head office and managed jointly by the PSC, adding it was “very unlikely” that it could be manipulated.

Jobless Teachers Criticise Govt Over Online Recruitment System

The government has recruited an additional 3 816 teachers as it implements measures to reduce class sizes in compliance with COVID-19 mitigation regulations.
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education requires at least 40 000 more teachers to address the critical manpower deficit in the education sector, with an estimated 15 000 trained teachers jobless.
In a statement, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Tumisang Thabela listed the names of the recruited teachers including their stations. She said:

This serves to inform the individuals listed that you have been appointed by the Public Service Commission to serve as teachers in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
You are advised to report to the indicated district offices as soon as possible for deployment.
</blockquote>
Thabela also warned teachers who falsified their year of completion from college that they would face the consequences of such dishonest behaviour.
Schools reopened on Monday for examination classes with the rest of the learners returning to class on 6 September.

Govt Recruits Nearly 4 000 More Teachers

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has announced a new recruitment policy.
According to the amended policy potential police recruits are now required to be aged between 18-22 years old and be in possession of a minimum of 5 Ordinary level passes which include Mathematics, English Language and Science attained in not more than two (2) sittings. In addition the applicants should have a good background with no criminal record and then go through the whole police internal selection process.
In a statement issued by Charity Charamba, those who were on a waiting list will no longer be considered for service. We publish the full statement below:
<blockquote>AMENDMENT OF ZRP RECRUITMENT POLICY
The Zimbabwe Republic Police is currently inundated with enquiries on recruitment and some false messages are even circulating on social media platforms purporting that the organisation will soon embark on a recruitment drive.
The police wishes therefore to advise members of the public and those who had conducted interviews and had been put on the waiting list that the recruitment policy has been amended with immediate effect. Potential police recruits are now required to be aged between 18-22 years old and be in possession of a minimum of 5 Ordinary level passes which include Mathematics, English Language and Science attained in not more than two (2) sittings. In addition the applicants should have a good background with no criminal record and then go through the whole police internal selection process.
In light of this new recruitment policy, all police applicants on the waiting list have been dispensed with and will no longer be considered for any recruitment in the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
Members of the public are therefore advised that future recruitment exercises will be advertised in both the print and electronic media when the need arises. Potential applicants will thus be invited to contact relevant recruitment offices whenever there is a pending exercise.
Meanwhile the Zimbabwe Republic Police wishes to express appreciation and gratitude to all applicants who had shown an interest in the service and were on the waiting list.</blockquote>

Police Announces New Recruitment Policy, Removes Applicants On Waiting List

Director of army public relations lieutenant colonel Alphios Makotore has dismissed social media messages saying that the army is recruiting. He went on to warn the people generating the fake messages that they are being investigated and will be prosecuted once arrested. Said Makotore in a statement:
<blockquote>These false notifications, which are currently in circulation on WhatsApp, are to the effect that there will be a recruitment exercise by the ZNA throughout the country’s provinces during the months of May and June 2017
The army wishes to categorically make it clear that there is no such recruitment taking place.
The criminal elements masquerading as recruitment agents are not representing the ZNA or any of its members in any way
..The origins of these fake messages are being investigated and the criminal elements, once apprehended, will be prosecuted</blockquote>
