Munyaradzi Makore, the father of the then 7-year-old Murehwa boy, Tapiwa Makore, who was murdered by his uncle and namesake, and his herdsman, on 17 September 2020, says he is still in pain.
Tapiwa’s remains were buried six months after his callous murder without his head, which is yet to be located.
Munyaradzi said the issue has also affected the unity of the family since it was done by family members. He said:
<blockquote>
Yes, justice prevailed (after two relatives were found guilty of killing him), but I was hoping to know the whereabouts of the head.
It is something that continues to eat me up that I buried my son without his head and up to now I do not know its whereabouts.
I will only leave this to God, but I am in pain.

Tapiwa’s uncle, Tapiwa Makore Sr and his herdsman, Tafadzwa Shamba were both found guilty of the boy’s murder by High Court judge Justice Mutevedzi on Thursday, 29 June.
When Tafadzwa Shamba first appeared before a Murehwa magistrate, he narrated how he gruesomely murdered the boy.
He, however, later retracted his statement, saying the Police tricked him to make indications implicating Tapiwa Makore Senior as his accomplice.
But in his ruling, Justice Mutevedzi said Shamba confessed to the murder and described in detail how it was done. He ruled:
<blockquote>
Shamba is guilty beyond reasonable doubt as required by the law. Shamba be and is hereby found guilty for the murder of Tapiwa while Makore Snr is found guilty for the murder of Tapiwa as an accomplice.
The court is satisfied that the statement by Shamba was acceptable and confirms that he committed the offence.
He explained in graphic detail. That detail elaborates his intimate details regarding commission of the crime.
The first accused (Shamba’s) situation is compounded by other issues.
He did not only confess, he made indications, he pointed to a house the boy was detained, the container which was containing the illicit brew was also found in the same house…
Accused one (Shamba’s) fate is sealed by the fact that body parts were found through his confession.
The victim was detained in his house. He supplied alcohol which was used to drug the victim.
The question which arises is if he supplied means for Shamba to commit this offence. The child was locked in his house for long hours, in fact for around 8 hrs.
It is unimaginable that he wouldn’t have noticed the presence of the boy in his house.

Tapiwa’s mother,  Linda Munyori, said that while scars from her son’s murder may never fully fade, at least justice had been served.
The sentencing of the duo is scheduled for 12 July 2023.

Tapiwa Makore's Father Says He Hoped Killers Would Reveal The Whereabouts Of Boy's Head

The High Court on Monday ruled that an application challenging the exorbitant election candidate nomination fees submitted by opposition politicians and pro-democracy campaigners is not urgent.
This is despite the fact that the nomination court, which is responsible for receiving and vetting nomination papers from candidates who wish to contest in the 2023 parliamentary, presidential, and local government elections, sits tomorrow, 21 June 2023.
The court challenge was filed by former presidential candidate Egypt Dzinemunhenzva, Harare North MP Allan Markham, Vongai Zimudzi and Tapiwanashe Chiriga who filed their initial application in September 2022.
They are being represented by the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR).
The opposition politicians and pro-democracy campaigners are challenging the nomination fees set by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) for candidates for the 2023 general elections.
Presidential candidates are required to pay US$20 000, Parliamentary candidates, US$1 000, while candidates for Local Government seats are required to pay US$200.
In their application, which was filed last year, Dzinemunhenzva, Markham, Zimudzi and Chiriga, who are represented by Obey Shava of ZLHR argued that the nomination fees are too high and should be withdrawn.
In an update posted on Twitter on Tuesday, 20 June 2023, ZLHR said High Court judge Judge Justice Munamato Mutevedzi on Monday ruled that the application is not urgent. <a href="https://twitter.com/ZLHRLawyers/status/1671080710986424320">Reads the post</a>:

High Court Judge Justice Munamato Mutevedzi on Monday ruled that the application seeking an urgent determination of a challenge of exorbitant nomination fees for the 2023 general elections is not urgent and that the matter should be set down for hearing on a normal and ordinary court roll.
</blockquote>
In the application, Shava argued that Statutory Instrument 144 of 2022, which amended the nomination fees for the 2023 general elections, is “unconstitutional, unreasonable and have the effect of blocking aspiring candidates from participating in elections.”
Meanwhile, Parliament’s Legal Committee (PLC) recently approved the candidate nomination fees set by ZEC after it was tasked by the Constitutional Court to review SI 144 of 2022.
The Constitutional Court application challenging the nomination fees had been filed in April this year by the Nationalists Alliance Party (NAP).

Nomination Fees Court Challenge Not Urgent - Justice Mutevedzi

A 31-year-old Harare man, Collen Jamu, has been jailed for 15 years for murdering his ex-girlfriend, ZBC News reported.
Jamu reportedly accused the 17-year-old Mitchel Chipere of cheating with another man.
Allegations:
The state told the court that on 17 June 2015, Jamu followed her girlfriend who was residing at her parent’s place of residence, house number 2330 in Glen Norah A and struck her with a metal hoe on the head several times after accusing her of infidelity.
Shortly before the murder, she had a stillbirth that prompted her to return to stay with her parents while recovering from the loss.
Chipere allegedly wanted to end their relationship, but Jamu failed to stomach the rejection.
After the murder, Jamu inserted Chipere’s body under the bed and locked the door from inside and escaped through the window, taking advantage of her parent’s absence.
When the trial opened before High Court Judge, Justice Munamato Mutevedzi, Jamu tried to exonerate himself by submitting that it was difficult for him to stay without Chipere since she was everything in his life.
Justice Mutevedzi ruled that it is unfortunate that Jamu’s acts of envy, lust and jealousy resulted in the loss of life and cannot be undone, hence a 15-year jail sentence will send a correct message to would-be offenders. 
Meanwhile, the minimum age of marriage is 18 years for both girls and boys, according to the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Marriages_Act_Factsheet:01">Marriages Act</a>. It is, therefore, a crime to marry off a child and anyone involved in that is supposed to be prosecuted. It is a substantial crime if the parents or guardians are involved.

Harare Man Jailed For 15 Years For Killing His "Cheating" Girlfriend

A magistrate from a court in Mutare was reportedly attacked by a hammer by an irate woman who was accusing her of having an affair with her husband, ZimLive reports.
According to the publication, Tamara Chibindi was attacked at her home by an angry Thelmor Mudhefi over prominent Mutare lawyer Chris Ndlovu and she had to be treated for head and arm injuries at the hospital.
A source spoke and revealed that the Mutare magistrate was attacked told the publication that:
<blockquote>She was badly injured on the head and one of her hands. She received some stitches in hospital.</blockquote>
Thelmor was reportedly arrested but she has already filed a complaint against Chibindi with Chief Magistrate Munamato Mutevedzi. However, Judiciary Service Commission’s secretary Walter Chikwana said they were not aware of the said incident:
<blockquote>If a complaint was made, it would have gone to the Chief Magistrate who is yet to bring it to our attention</blockquote>
Meanwhile, in another incident that occurred in the country’s second-largest city Bulawayo, a woman who had gone home with Justice Thompson Mabhikwa <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2021/02/20/justice-mabhikwas-enraged-lover-sends-his-nudes-to-a-judges-whatsapp-group-report/">sent his nude photos to a fellow judges group</a> when she discovered that he was having an affair with another woman.
The woman who is believed to be the secretary of one of the fellow judges also sent his photos to some of his contacts.
