Four armed robbers targeted a money transfer shop in Glen View, Harare, on Monday morning, making off with over US$2,700 and R2,350.
According to a statement from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) posted on their official X page, the suspects, armed with pistols, fired two shots into the air before demanding cash from both the teller and a customer. Police said:

The ZRP is investigating circumstances surrounding a case of armed robbery which occurred on 16/12/24 at around 0939 hours at a money transfer shop at Glenview 2 Shopping Centre, Harare.
Four unknown suspects armed with pistols pounced at the shop and fired two shots in the air before demanding cash from the teller and a client.
The suspects stole US$ 2 789.00 and ZAR 2 350.00 cash and drove off in their get-away car, a black Toyota Mark X vehicle.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward and report it to the nearest police station.
Earlier reports indicated that the robbed money transfer shop is part of the Mukuru Money Transfer agency and is located inside a pharmacy at Makomva Shopping Centre.

Police have launched a manhunt for a woman employed at a money transfer outlet in Murewa, Mashonaland East Province, who disappeared with her employer’s US$41,000 in cash on Monday.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police, in a statement released on X, identified the suspect as Memory Chisokwe, a teller at the money transfer outlet.
Chisokwe allegedly received the cash from a security company but failed to show up for work the following day, prompting the investigation. The ZRP said:

The suspect, who was employed as a teller at the booth allegedly stole US$41 000.00 cash which she had received from a security company before failing to report for work on the next day. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.

In a separate case, a teller at a money transfer outlet in Ngundu, Masvingo, was allegedly ambushed by four armed robbers while heading home on Monday. The suspects reportedly confronted him and forced him to return to the outlet.
Police said upon their arrival at the scene, the robbers coerced the teller into opening the safe, from which they stole US$46,349.00 in cash and ZAR 924,100.00.

Ngundu Money Transfer Outlet Robbed Of US$46 000 And Nearly R1 Million

Mukuru has launched a drive-thru service in Chisipite, Harare for domestic and international money transfers and plans to launch a similar facility in Bulawayo soon.
The drive-thru is one of the South Africa-based financial services platform’s newest locations in Zimbabwe, joining nine other sites which launched in February 2023.
Marc Carrie-Wilson, country manager for Zimbabwe at Mukuru told <a href="https://thefintechtimes.com/mukuru-launches-tenth-money-transfer-drive-thru-in-zimbabwe/">The Fintech Times</a> that the drive-thru idea proved to be the safest and most convenient option for their customers. He said:

As we increase our footprint in the country, we explored various innovative ideas to push the envelope and challenge the type of locations that we have as a financial services company.
Safety remains a top priority for us, and the drive-thru idea proved to be the safest and most convenient option for our customers.
The Chisipite drive-thru is open from 7 am to 7 pm daily (including public holidays) and comes with a ‘walk-in’ option for customers who wish to register or visit the location on foot.
Out of the ten new locations, Chisipite is the only drive-thru at the moment, but we hope to launch one in Bulawayo in the next phase.

According to the World Bank, remittances to Sub-Saharan Africa grew an estimated 5.2 per cent to US$53billion in 2022, compared with 16.4 per cent the previous year.
Meanwhile, Mukuru has also launched a series of services in the past few months to build a diverse product offering for customers.
The company has partnered with Multichoice to make paying for DStv more convenient.
Mukuru also formed a partnership with Bereka to deliver money transfers directly to customers across Zimbabwe.
Carrie-Wilson also revealed that Mukuru has an ongoing partnership with wholesaler Metro Peech &amp; Browne, who make purchasing groceries, stationery and appliances more convenient for Zimbabweans.

Mukuru Launches Money Transfer "Drive-Thru" In Chisipite

Five suspected armed robbers kidnapped a Mukuru Money Transfer employee at his residence in Mashava on Monday evening and drove him to a supermarket where they stole more than US$20 000 and over R32 000 from a safe.
In a statement posted on Twitter, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the suspects were armed with an unidentified firearm and using an unregistered grey Toyota vehicle. The Police said:

Police in Masvingo are investigating a case of armed robbery which occurred at a supermarket in Mashava on 13/03/23 at around 1800 hours.
Five unknown suspects, who were armed with an unidentified firearm, while using an unregistered grey Toyota vehicle as a get-away car, attacked a Mukuru money transfer employee at his residence before kidnapping him to his workplace at Mukuru booth located in a supermarket at Balmain Business Centre.
The suspects attacked the supermarket cashier before forcing the complainant to open the safe.
The suspects stole US$20 472 and ZAR32 800 cash. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.
