The opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) led by Nelson Chamisa has denounced the arrest of Sunningdale Member of Parliament (MP), <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Maureen_Kademaunga/">Maureen Kademaunga.</a>
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) announced that Kademaunga was arrested together with Councilor for Ward 10, Clayd Mashozhera (49), along with Daudi Jessub (40), for alleged attempted murder and malicious damage to property. In a statement seen by Pindula News, the CCC party said the charges were fabricated shortly after the 23-24 August harmonised elections. Read the statement on X, (formerly Twitter):

The CCC’s spokesperson, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Promise_Mkwananzi/">Promise Mkwananzi</a>, also denounced the arrest and detention of Maureen Kademaunga, alleging that it is President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s retaliation against the opposition for supporting CCC leader Nelson Chamisa in the harmonised elections. He said:

Like all political prisoners, Maureen is being detained at Harare Central Police Station on flimsy &amp; cooked up charges. Mr. Mnangagwa has heightened repression &amp; vindication against our Party leaders, activists, members, supporters &amp; the generality of the Citizens for voting for @nelsonchamisa &amp; @CCCZimbabwe.

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/2023/09/07/ccc-spokesperson-mkwananzi-on-the-run-as-police-offer-reward-for-his-arrest/">Mkwananzi himself is on the run</a> after police offered a reward for information on his whereabouts. In a statement seen by Pindula News, Mkwananzi, formerly a leader of the Tajamuka/Sesijikile campaign, claimed that the police targeted him for criticising what he viewed as a fraudulent election. 
Police also said they were looking for Clayd Mashozhera (who has been arrested) and Noel Munhuweyi. According to Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the police spokesperson, Mkwananzi failed to attend court proceedings and a warrant of arrest was been issued against him.
Mkwananzi faces charges related to the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act. Additionally, Mashozhera and Munhuweyi are wanted in connection with allegations of assault and malicious damage to property. The ZRP offered a reward of USD$1000 for credible information leading to the arrest of the suspects.

Opposition CCC Has Denounced The Arrest Of MP Maureen Kademaunga

Opposition Citizens Coalition for Change’s (CCC) Member of Parliament for Sunningdale Constituency, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Maureen_Kademaunga/">Maureen Kademaunga</a>, and Councilor for Ward 10, Clayd Mashozhera (49), along with Daudi Jessub (40), have been arrested.
In a statement seen by Pindula News, police national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said they were arrested for attempted murder and malicious damage to property. The incident in question allegedly occurred on August 23, 2023, when three complainants were attacked near Metro-Peech in Harare.
A Toyota Spacio Vehicle was set on fire during the incident. The suspects allegedly used vehicles, including one belonging to Maureen Kademaunga, to block and assault the complainants. Read the police statement:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that Sunningdale Constituency Member of Parliament, Maureen Kademaunga (38), Councilor Ward 10 Clayd Mashozhera (49) and Daudi Jessub (40) have been arrested in connection with Attempted Murder and Malicious Damage to Property allegations. The suspects are implicated in the attack on three complainants which occurred at the corner of Boshoff Drive and Seke Road near Metro-Peech, Harare on 23rd August 2023. A Toyota Spacio Vehicle Registration number ADH 1690 was burnt to ashes during the attack. The suspects were allegedly using a Toyota Mark X vehicle which belongs to Maureen Kademaunga, a Silver Honda Fit and another vehicle which is yet to be identified, when they blocked the complainants and attacked them.
The suspects will appear in court in due course.

The day in question is the date when Zimbabwe conducted its harmonised elections in which Kademaunga was elected as a Member of Parliament.

CCC MP Maureen Kademaunga, Councillor Mashozhera Arrested

CCC interim Secretary for Public Service and Social Welfare has bemoaned the alleged capture of the country’s judiciary and the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) by the ruling ZANU PF party.
Kademaunga queried why three CCC members from the Nyatsime area whose homes were allegedly torched by ZANU PF activists were arrested while ruling party members linked to the assault of 21 women at the funeral of Moreblessing Ali were not arrested.
The three CCC members, Precious Jeche (41), Misheck Guzha (62) and Odius Makoma (42) were arrested on Wednesday and appeared before Harare Magistrate Dennis Mangosi on Thursday facing charges of public violence.
The magistrate ruled that the trio is likely to skip bail, hence it is risky to free them on bail pending trial.
Kademaunga also criticised the police for arresting opposition MPs Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole on public violence charges while a local ZANU PF MP and councillor were not arrested despite appearing to incite violence. <a href="https://twitter.com/MaureenKade/status/1540257515933425670">She wrote on Twitter:</a>

Nine citizens have been wrongfully arrested in the continued repression of the people of Nyatsime in the aftermath of the gruesome murder of Moreblessing Ali.
Again we see clear undue political interference forcing police and courts to act as willing executioners of repression.
Police is being abused in the systematic criminalisation and subjection to the harsh reprisal of three CCC members who made police reports after their homes were torched in Nyatsime.
The three were later arrested and in turn, charged with public violence.
Police is being abused to silence and harass justice seekers; Ali family lawyer Job Sikhala1 and legislator Godfrey Sithole who was assisting the family to pursue justice whom they have wrongfully imprisoned and are currently held at Chikurubi maximum prison.
Courts are being abused to aid Judicial Harassment of the arrested whom they have denied bail and will possibly be subjected to lengthy pre-trial detentions as has been the trend.
Police is being abused to promote impunity of perpetrators of human rights violations. 
Police have not acted on ZANU PF MP and Councillor who publicly incited violence at the Ali funeral, and ZANU PF Youth who abducted and assaulted 21 women at a funeral.
A free, fair and credible election can only be possible if key institutions like the police, the courts, ZEC, Chapter 12 commissions etc are free from the demonic grip of the tyrannical ZANU PF regime!

CCC Accuses ZANU PF Of Influencing Police, Court Rulings

Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) Secretary for Public Service and Social Welfare, Maureen Kademaunga, said the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) needs to be rescued from ZANU PF so that it can discharge its constitutional mandate professionally.
In a Twitter thread, Kademaunga said ZANU PF has taken over policing in the country thereby undermining ZRP and resulting in the erosion of public confidence in the police force. <a href="https://twitter.com/MaureenKade/status/1535933501702565888">She wrote:</a>

Kademaunga: Police Need To Be Rescued From ZANU PF

Maureen Kademaunga, Secretary for Public Service and Social Welfare for the opposition MDC-A  has said that the government did not do due diligence when it started the construction of the mausoleum for the late founding father of the country, Robert Mugabe.
Speaking to VOA Studio7, Kademaunga said that lots of money which were poured into the soon-to-be abandoned project will just go down the drain.
She also said that there are several other projects which the government initiated and abandoned after injecting many resources when the economy is bleeding.
Her remarks come after the government has agreed to calls by the Mugabe family to bury the former president in Zvimba, his rural home.

Activist Maureen Kademaunga has issued an apology for comparing the ruling Zanu-PF party to cockroaches while speaking at a political rally in Highfield. Kademaunga received criticism for her choice of words, with some classifying it as hate speech. In a statement released on Wednesday, Kademaunga said,
<blockquote>Yesterday I was asked to give an impromptu solidarity message at the Highfield West rally. Whilst address the women I used a very unfortunate analogy of “mapete” (cockroaches), trying to illustrate how nothing changes when you get rid of just one big one, alluding to the violent removal of Mugabe by the Junta in the November coup by another Zanu-PF faction and hoping to show that the problem of Zanu-PF was still prevalent, and we should vote them all out on July 30th.
