The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/2023/11/05/bodies-of-two-missing-men-found-in-community-borehole/">two men whose bodies were found dumped in a community well</a> in Bhulu village near Ingwizi Center in Mangwe District, Matabeleland South. It has been clarified that the location where the bodies were found is actually a well, not the borehole mentioned in our previous article.
The deceased have been identified as Million Moyo (25) and Bhekinkosi Ncube (24). According to a police report seen by Pindula News, the two men were stabbed by three individuals, one of whom has already been arrested. Read the report:

Police in Mpoengs are investigating a case of murder which occurred on 31/10/23 at Bulu area, Tshitshi. The suspects, Lucky Mpofu (30), Modira Dube (27) and their accomplice only identified as Methuli took turns to stab the victims, Million Moyo (25) and Bhekinkosi Ncube (24) with an unknown sharp object indiscriminately all over the body.
The victims died on the spot and the bodies were dumped in a nearby community well which is approximately 500 metres deep. 
  
Lucky Mpofu had accused Million Moyo of causing his arrest on rape allegations involving Million Moyo’s sister. The bodies were retrieved from the well by villagers on 04/11/23. The Police has since arrested Modira Dube.

We’re not sure about the depth of the well but it seems the police made a typing error. It could be 15 metres deep.
According to reports, the incident came to the attention of villagers when they noticed “bloody water” coming out of the well. A community leader, who wishes to remain anonymous, expressed shock and disbelief over the double murder in their village. The leader said on Sunday:

Update: Police Name Two Men Found Dumped In Community Borehole

Matabeleland South’s biggest irrigation scheme, ARDA Antelopes is counting losses after a veld fire that broke out on Friday, spreading into the farm and destroying a part of the seed crop.
Estate Manager, Aleck Chinyayi told <a href="https://www.zbcnews.co.zw/veld-fire-destroys-arda-antelope-wheat/">ZBCnews</a> that the fire broke out in the morning and destroyed a seed crop with an estimated value of US$5 000. Chinyayi said:
<blockquote>
A fire just broke out across the fence and because the wheat is ready for harvest it didn’t take time for it to catch fire and we had to rush with the workers and put it out, we have lost almost a hectare of the seed crop.
</blockquote>
This is happening when Zimbabwe is in serious need of locally-produced wheat to cover the deficit that was caused by Russia/Ukraine war which interrupted international trade.
Meanwhile, Mukunjulelwa Ndlovu, Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water Fisheries and Rural Development, Acting Provincial Director has urged farmers to guard against fire. Ndlovu said:

This is a seed crop that is going to help us increase our area of wheat next season and farmers need to be on the lookout for fire incidences as they can destroy the crop at the critical stage.

ARDA Antelope is one of the biggest irrigation schemes in Matabeleland South province with over 500 hectares under commercial wheat, 180 hectares of wheat seed, and 56 hectares of potatoes.

Veld Fire Destroys Wheat In A Matabeleland South Irrigation

The Meteorological Services Department (MSD)  has said the almost all provinces will experience evening thunderstorms except for parts of Midlands and Matebeleland South. This was contained in an update that stated that:
<blockquote>ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON THURSDAY 11 FEBRUARY 2021 VALID UNTIL SATURDAY 13 FEBRUARY 2021.
The moist and unstable conditions affecting the country resulted in scattered thunderstorms and rain with the following notable rainfall figures measured at our meteorological stations this morning: 33mm (Chinhoyi), 31mm (Mukandi), 26mm (Chipinge), 23mm (Guruve) and 21mm(Zvishavane)
FORECAST FOR TOMORROW FRIDAY 12 FEBRUARY 2021
Matabeleland North Province, Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, northern areas of Midlands Province, all Mashonaland Provinces, Harare Metropolitan Province, Manicaland Province and Masvingo Province should be cloudy with scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. The remainder of the country (southern areas of Midlands, and Matabeleland South Provinces) is expected to be mostly smug and warm with isolated thunderstorms

<li>There is heightened risk for lightning strikes</li>
<li>Flooded rivers remain a potential hazard: even if it has not rained heavily in the area, heavy rains may have occurred upstream. Flash flooding may occtr especially in wetlands and near river plains.</li>
<li>Heavy downpours may reduce visibility and flood dangers become difficult to perceive during heavy rains</li>
</ul>
ACTIONS TO TAKE
<ul>
<li>The sunny morning skies may allow a few outdoor activities such as weeding, applying fertilizers or even hanging laundry, but remember: when Thunder Roars, it is best to be indoors!</li>
<li>Try to avoid isolated sited, trees, and even the kitchen area especially in rural setting. These are usually prone to lightning strikes. Stay Weather-Ready and Environment-Safe.</li>
<li>Avoid crossing flooded rivers and swollen streams whether on foot or in a vehicle.</li>
<li>Keep away from metal equipment and pipes, as these are prone to lightning strikes.</li>
<li>Do not ride at the back of an open truck or drive a tractor during a storm,</li>
<li>Avoid driving when visibility is poor, more so at night and during heavy rains (fortunately, curfew hours cover the bulk of this period under current lockdown measures.)</li>
<li>Ensure rooftops are strongly secured and intact as the potential of wind gust is high.</li>
</ul>

All Provinces Except Matabeleland South And Midlands To Expect Evening Thunderstorms Tomorrow - MSD

2 COVID-19 patients reportedly escaped from a quarantine facility at Pangani Training Centre in Matabeleland South, The Herald reports
The matter came to light as ZRP Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi was updating the nation on their duty as police during the lockdown. According to the publication Assistant Commissioner Nyathi said these are the statistics of people who escaped from quarantine recently:
<blockquote>The two Covid-19 positive returnees escaped from Pangani Training Centre in Matabeleland South, with another seven escaping from Bulawayo Polytechnic and the 10th from Mushagashe Training Centre in Masvingo.</blockquote>
Speaking about the incidents of people escaping from quarantine the ZRP spokesperson said:
<blockquote>
Of concern is the manner in which these people are escaping from these centres and police are, however, investigating the circumstances.
We believe that they are taking advantage of the porous security fences and walls at some of these institutions and other surroundings that don’t have lights,
</blockquote>
Assistant Commissioner Nyathi also said, they also impounded 857 kombis operating illegally and exposing people to COVID-19. Zimbabwe as of this morning has recorded 787 COVID-19 cases.

2 COVID-19 Positive People Escape From Quarantine

Zanu-PF Matabeleland South Province yesterday held a prayer meeting for President Mnangagwa and victims of the bombing incident that happened just as the President was leaving the VVIP podium after addressing a rally.
Speaking at the meeting, Zanu-PF Matabeleland South provincial chairman Rabelani Choeni condemned the incident and said they are praying for peace to prevail during the election period. Said Choeni:
<blockquote>Following the attempt on the President’s life, we have decided as Matabeleland South to hold a prayer meeting to call on God to watch over him. We are also praying for peace and unity to prevail during the election period. We also pray for the speedy recovery of comrades that were injured in the explosion and families that have lost their relatives.</blockquote>

Zanu-PF Holds Prayer Meeting After Mnangagwa Rally Explosion

Announcing the final list of candidates in Harare yesterday, Zanu-PF secretary for administration Obert Mpofu warned members not to tamper with the approved list saying disciplinary action will be taken against any individual who does so.
Mpofu’s comments come after <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2018/06/12/zanu-pf-mat-south-draws-fresh-list-of-candidates-rejects-list-from-commissariat/">Zanu-PF Matabeleland South Province rejected the list of parliamentary candidates</a> which came from the party’s national commissariat headed by retired Lieutenant General Engelbert Rugeje. The province resolved to appoint provincial chairperson <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2018/06/12/kembo-mohadi-endorses-wifes-removal-from-zanu-pf-candidate-list/">Rabelani Choene as the Beitbridge senatorial candidate instead of Vice President Kembo Mohadi’s wife Tambudzani Mohadi</a>.  Said Mpofu: 
<blockquote>Disciplinary action will be taken against any individual who will tamper with the approved list of candidates. The names of the final successful candidates as will be announced are the ones which will have to complete the nominations documents and provide their credentials to ZEC.</blockquote>
Mpofu said Zanu-PF had made corrections for senatorial candidates for Matabeleland South Province as per the Politburo directive. He said in Beitbridge the candidate was Tambudzani Mohadi, in Bulilima-Mangwe Simon Khaya Moyo,  Alima Mukweva (Gwanda), Thembani Mathuthu (Mzingwane), Essabel Ngwenya (Matobo) and Earnest Ncube (Inzisa).
