Gospel musician and preacher Darlington Mutseta, widely known as Mambo Dhuterere, has publicly criticized his brother-in-law for involving him in a US$16,000 vehicle import duty scam linked to aspiring ZANU PF Glen Norah MP Chrispen Magaya.
While Dhuterere is not implicated in the scam, his wife, Dorcas Vambe, and her brother, Kudakwashe Vambe—who is currently at large—are involved.
Dorcas Vambe appeared before a Harare magistrate on Thursday, December 12, facing fraud charges and was granted bail of US$100.
In a Facebook post, Mambo Dhuterere suggested that Kudakwashe and Magaya wanted to tarnish his reputation because they were unable to resolve their issues privately, as recommended by the police.
He also issued an apology to President Emmerson Mnangagwa for having his name dragged into the mess. Wrote Mambo Dhuterere:

Dhuterere's wife faced fraud charges in court. Dhuterere apologized to the President and said he had nothing to do with the scam. He said his brother-in-law and others are trying to tarnish his name. Dhuterere is upset that they wouldn't resolve the issue privately and involved the police. He is asking for pity and prayers from everyone during this difficult time.

Mambo Dhuterere Distances Himself From $16,000 Scam Involving Wife And Brother-in-Law

Popular gospel musician Mai Dhuterere, whose real name is Dorcas Vambe, appeared before a Harare magistrate on Thursday, December 12, facing charges of defrauding aspiring ZANU PF Glen Norah MP Chrispen Magaya of US$16,000 in a vehicle import duty scam.
The 36-year-old, who is married to fellow gospel musician and preacher Darlington Mutseta, known as Mambo Dhuterere, reportedly conspired with her brother, Kudakwashe Vambe, who is currently at large.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the duo misrepresented themselves to Magaya by claiming they had a Toyota Hilux GD6 for sale.
They further deceived Magaya into believing that he could acquire two vehicles within his budget of US$16,000.
Vambe falsely asserted that they had a waiver from the President of Zimbabwe, allowing them to import the vehicles duty-free due to her contributions as a musician.
Trusting their claims, Magaya handed over the full amount of US$16,000 to Vambe, who provided a receipt in the form of an affidavit, promising to deliver the vehicles within two weeks.
However, Vambe failed to fulfill this promise and instead provided Magaya with a Ford Ranger registered in Botswana, assuring him that a Mercedes Benz C200 would follow.
Unfortunately, the Ford Ranger was later impounded by the police for being operated without a valid temporary permit.
Vambe has since been granted bail set at US$100.

Musician Darlington Mutseta, popularly known as Mambo Dhuterere, has released his new album titled “Kudenga kuna Manuwere.”
The album features four tracks: “Ndiye Manuwero,” “Sunungura neZodzo,” “Kudenga kuna Manuwero,” and “Zororai.”
In an interview with <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/mambo-dhuterere-drops-four-track-ep-features-unique-partnership-with-diaspora-insurance/">NewZimbabwe.com</a>, Mambo Dhuterere shared insights into his collaborations with comedian Frets Donzvo and Repent Kutyauripo, who contributed to the songs “Kudenga kuna Manuwere” and “Zororo,” respectively. He said:

The artist decided to withdraw from the event after a dispute arose with the festival’s organizers, Y2K Entertainment Promotions, over the payment terms.
In a Facebook post, Dhuterere explained that the promoters had only promised to pay him upon his arrival in the UK, which was an unacceptable arrangement for the musician. He wrote:

In November 2023, Mambo Dhuterere addressed social media rumours claiming that he was abandoned by his wife after allegedly impregnating a woman from his church.
Reports surfaced that his wife and the alleged mistress had an altercation at a car wash after she discovered the supposed infidelity.
The “Dare Guru” hitmaker, whose real name is Darlington Mutseta, expressed his shock that people were believing these rumours without any evidence.
Earlier, Dhuterere had shared that he was struggling with mental, emotional, and spiritual distress, which only fueled the speculation surrounding his personal life.

Mambo Dhuterere Prepares To Release New Album "Kudenga Kuna Manuwere"

Gospel artist Darlington Mutseta, popularly known as Mambo Dhuterere, vehemently denies requesting a car from ZANU PF supporter Wicknell Chivayo. Recently, Chivayo has been generously gifting lavish cars to musicians without restraint.
On Monday, March 25, Chivayo presented musician Nicholas “Madzibaba” Zakaria with a brand-new Toyota Fortuner.
In response, Mambo Dhuterere praised Zakaria for maintaining composure even after Chivayo publicly criticized him. Chivayo had accused Zakaria of interfering in his spending decisions by requesting a car. Mambo Dhuterere posted on Facebook:

Nevertheless, certain social media users perceived Mambo Dhuterere’s Monday post as an indirect plea for a car from Chivayo.
In a Facebook post this Tuesday evening, Mambo Dhuterere asserted that it would be inappropriate for him to seek a car from Chivayo. He cited the kindness he has received from President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his family.
Within the same post, Mambo Dhuterere disclosed that he battled illness for several months.
Additionally, he had substantial interactions with the First Lady and her twin sons, Sean and Collins.
Furthermore, Mambo Dhuterere said he received generous compensation for creating ZANU PF jingles leading up to the August 2023 harmonized elections. He wrote:

Social media platforms have been awash with claims that Dhuterere’s wife and his alleged side chick clashed at an unnamed carwash after she discovered her husband’s alleged infidelity.
Mambo Dhuterere’s recent announcement that he had been depressed mentally, emotionally, and spiritually only added fire to the rumours.
But in a post on his Facebook page this Wednesday, 01 November, the “Dare Guru” hitmaker, whose real name is Darlington Mutseta, said he was shocked that some people were believing the rumours without a shred of evidence. Said Mambo Dhuterere:

There is nothing that we can do if you believe allegations without evidence, (I and my wife) are still together.
Can you imagine that there would be a fracas at a carwash in full public view, where my wife, the alleged girlfriend and I, allegedly clashed, and no one records a video of the incident?
Why didn’t someone bring the evidence that there was a fight at a carwash? Or that my wife is now in Botswana or that were separated?
If there is any lady who claims that I impregnated her, let her bring the child so that we go for a DNA test and we publicise the results.

Mambo Dhuterere Denies Infidelity Allegations, Challenges Rumour Mongers To Provide Evidence

ZANU PF on Saturday snubbed the party’s praise singer Chief Shumba Hwenje for <a href="https://pindula.co.zw/Mambo_Dhuterere">Mambo Dhuterere</a> as it launched its campaign for the 23 August elections.
Hwenje is known for the song “ED Pfee”, which became an anthem at ZANU PF rallies ahead of the 2018 elections.
He recently released an album cover art and tracklist for an album set to be released ahead of the elections.
The album titled “Special Branch” carries 10 tracks- ED Chete, More Fire, Huchi, Saka Uchaita Sei, State House, Shumba Ngavapinde, Ndomuvhotera Chete, Chakabatwa Kuti Dzvii, Mai Wellie, and Mpela Mpela.
<a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/thestandard/standard-style/article/200013157/zanu-pf-snubs-ed-pfee-singer-for-mambo-dhuterere">The Standard</a> reported a source within ZANU PF as saying Hwenje was informed that Mambo Dhuterere was going to be the official campaign praise singer and is set to release an album ahead of the elections. Said the source:

He is a tried and tested musician and it came as a surprise that Mambo Dhuterere was going to take Hwenje’s place after all the preparations.

Mambo Dhuterere is set to release songs that praise Mnangagwa that will be used during ZANU PF’s campaign.
The musician has two yet-to-be-released songs that praise Mnangagwa.
One of them is titled “ZANU PF Kuwinner Mugariro” and another one features musician-cum politician Sandra Ndebele.
Ndebele is running for a municipal seat in Ward 20, Pelandaba-Tshabalala in Bulawayo under a ZANU PF ticket.
Pride Mkono, a political analyst and activist castigated musicians who get involved in politics for money. Said Mkono:

It is an indictment that they have been trying to reinvent themselves through politics when most of their careers are all but done.

Mambo Dhuterere launched his album “Nadah Pachiputukezi” in January 2023 at a ceremony that was held at the Harare International Conference Centre and graced by politicians, mainly from ZANU PF.
At the launch, the album was auctioned for US$30 000.

Star FM Gospel Greats Top50 25 December 2022

Harare businessman, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Tinashe_Mutarisi">Tinashe Mutarisi</a>, who is also the founder of Nash Paints and Nash TV, believes gospel artiste <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Mambo_Dhuterere">Mambo Dhuterere</a> could become one of the finest musicians to ever come out of Zimbabwe.
Posting on his Facebook page, Mutarisi considered it a privilege to have witnessed Dhuterere’s rise from the time he was based in Botswana to now. Said Mutarisi:

Many people started to know Mambo Dhuterere later when he gained fame, but I was lucky enough to have watched the struggle to prosperity from afar.
I received his music from his former manager when he was in Botswana, from there I was used to listening to his music.
Mambo Dhuterere is slowly turning into a living legend, he is talented.
Keep on inspiring us Mambo, you have taught us that life requires one to stand firm and strong and something will eventually give.

Speaking to H-Metro, Dhuterere’s manager, Roned Mhako, said he agrees with Mutarisi’s opinion about Dhuterere. He said:

Working with Mambo Dheterere is a blessing, he co-operates a lot and he strategises plans.
Mambo Dheterere doesn’t do things haphazardly, he takes time to research and meditate, I can surely say that he is a legend in the making.

Mambo Dhuterere, real name Darlington Mutseta, has four albums under his belt namely Dhuterere (2015), Tsamba (2018), Dare Guru (2019) and Zvino Dzimba Ngoni(2020).

Tinashe Mutarisi Draws Inspiration From Mambo Dhuterere

Popular Gospel musician Mambo Dhuterere (real name Darlington Mutseta), released his fourth album on Monday titled, “Zvino Dzimba Ngoni”.
Dhuterere said his latest offering proves to his critics that he is not a fly-by-night musician or a one-hit-wonder.
In 2019, the St John Apostolic Church worshipper stormed the entertainment scene with his ageless album, “Dare Guru” which featured songs such as Mweya Ndisesekedze and Dare Guru but his extended silence had given his critics ammunition to claim that he was a spent force.
The new album has five songs; “Zvinonyadzisa”, “Ndabvunza Manuere”, “Kubata Basa”, “Ndinzwe Mambo” and “Kurira Mkundi”.
Dhuterere said he took his time perfecting his music in the studio and that was why some people were thinking that he was a chancy singer. He said:
<blockquote>I take time perfecting my music in the studio, hence some people would end up thinking I am a ‘one-hit-wonder’.
… After this new album, some months ahead, the same people will again say I am a one-hit-wonder.
People will always talk, but you just need to stay in focus and true to your calling.</blockquote>
Mambo Dhuterere promised to release a singles collection before year-end that will be having several collaborations.
He also pledged to release a video for the song “Zvinonyadzisa”, which was shot by Naxo Films.
Dhuterere already had three albums under his belt namely; “Dhuterere” in 2015, “Tsamba” (2018) and “Dare Guru” in 2019.

Mambo Dhuterere Drops New Album, 'Zvino Dzimba Ngoni'

Popular gospel musician Mambo Dhuterere said his wife did not sustain any injuries after she stumbled and fell on stage in the middle of their act.
The Dhutereres were performing during the National Prayer Day gospel concert which was aired live on ZBCtv on Monday.
The incident occurred when the band was winding up performing the hit song “Dare Guru”, a song that attacks the cunning nature and proliferation of fake prophets in the society.
Dhuterere, whose real name is Darlington Mutseta, told the Daily News that his wife was tripped by one of the loose cables that were on the floor. He said:
<blockquote>She said she was tripped by one of the loose cables that were on the floor. It happened when she turned while directly facing the stage monitor. It was not a big deal; she did not sustain any injuries. It was one of the minor onstage mistakes.</blockquote>
The concert was running under the theme “Breaking the fast in fighting Covid-19” and featured other musicians such as Michael Mahendere, Charles and Olivia Charamba, Mathias Mhere, Janet Manyowa, Family Voices, Dorcas Moyo, Kuda Mutsvene, and Blessing Shumba.

Dhuterere's Wife Unhurt After Stage Incident

Gospel musician Mambo Dhuterere, whose real name is Darlington Mutseta, is set to launch a new studio album in August despite the coronavirus-induced national lockdown, which has also negatively affected the music industry.
Mambo Dhuterere claims that he is not in music to make money but to preach the gospel to all corners of the world. He said:
<blockquote>I am not into music for money but to preach the word.
I have a message to deliver to the people during this period, hence I cannot wait for the lockdown to be lifted.
Gospel musicians are called to offer hope to the troubled and hopeless.
After releasing the album, I can still make money through online royalties.
We do not rely on live concerts anymore.</blockquote>
Popular for his Dare Guru album released last year, Mambo Dhuterere fellowships at St John Apostolic Church of the Whole World.
He ventured into the music industry in 2014 and has three albums to date; Dhuterere, Tsamba and Dare Guru.
Mambo Dhuterere has recently collaborated with a number of musicians including Mathias Mhere and Seh Calaz, among others.
