<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Lovemore_Madhuku/">Lovemore Madhuku</a>, the National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) president, has stated that the chaotic scenes of crowds scrambling for free groceries at ZANU PF rallies are a sign of the government’s failure.
Speaking at a meeting in Chinhoyi, Madhuku emphasised that Zimbabweans were suffering at the hands of the ruling elite, who must be removed during the August 23 harmonised elections. Madhuku urged citizens to seek a government that cherishes prosperity and indicated that every ZANU PF rally is evidence of failure. He said:

Citizens should seek a government that cherishes prosperity. Remember there is Madhuku who will be on the ballot paper on 23 August vying for president. There would be others but don’t vote for them.
If this country was ruled effectively, people would have adequate food stocks in their households, they shouldn’t go to rallies to get basic commodities.
If people had cooking oil, rice and mealie-meal, they would not go to a rally to get these things, but go and contribute to nation building through exchanging views and ideas, and listen to what the leadership is promising.
Attending rallies in order to get these things is evidence of failure because the masses are suffering.
People should come voluntarily (to rallies) using their own money because they would be in a position to afford. Every ZANU PF rally is evidence of failure.

He further urged the electorate to vote for NCA in upcoming polls and remove Mnangagwa’s regime, which has not succeeded in improving Zimbabwe’s economic situation.
Madhuku also reiterated the need to rejig the 2013 national Constitution, which he said was a compromise document agreed between late former president Robert Mugabe and Morgan Tsvangirai, the then opposition front-man.
Madhuku has contested previous presidential polls, and despite his unwavering determination to land the presidency, he has fared dismally in past plebiscites. His participation in elections is largely viewed by detractors as a sideshow to give credence to a supposed democratic society.
The situation in Zimbabwe is dire, with some members of the public attending rallies for food and free groceries as they are unable to afford them. The economy has been in collapse for years, with some analysts claiming that the government deliberately caused this to make the electorate dependent on them. By controlling the distribution of resources, they can manipulate the voting process, determining who gets what, when, and how. Those who do not support the government risk missing out on these essential goods. Some of the goods donated at these rallies include farming inputs such as fertilizers and seeds, groceries, as well as party regalia.

Madhuku: Scramble For Free Groceries At ZANU PF Rallies Shows Government Failure

Professor Lovemore Madhuku, leader of the <a class="MarkdownLink_linkifiedLink__KxC9G">National Constitutional Assembly</a> (NCA), has urged voters to make <a class="MarkdownLink_linkifiedLink__KxC9G">informed decisions</a> during the upcoming August 23, 2023 elections, stating that their vote will determine whether or not the country’s economy will improve.
Madhuku criticised the ruling <a class="MarkdownLink_linkifiedLink__KxC9G">ZANU PF party</a> for the deteriorating state of affairs in Zimbabwe, citing a lack of water in some residential areas and the poor state of the education sector. He urged voters to vote the party out, emphasizing the need for change.
Madhuku also explained that the NCA had failed to field MP candidates in certain areas of the country due to the high registration fees imposed by the government. As per Statutory Instrument (SI) 144 of 2022, candidates are required to pay US$1,000 to run for parliamentary seats and US$20,000 to run for the presidency.

Vote Wisely: Madhuku Advises Voters As He Launches NCA Campaign

Six presidential aspirants have submitted their papers at the nomination court in Harare, marking the start of the general elections on August 23. The nomination court will consider and accept candidates for presidential, parliamentary, and local authority elections.
The presidential candidates include President Emmerson Mnangagwa (ZANU PF), Nelson Chamisa (CCC), Lovemore Madhuku (National Constituent Assembly (NCA), Trust Chikohora (Zimbabwe Coalition for Peace and Development), Linda Masarira (LEAD), and Douglas Mwonzora (MDC-T).
Saviour Kasukuwere, a presidential hopeful who plans to contest as an independent candidate, is currently registering his candidature as an independent. 
Prospective senators, members of parliament, and aspiring councillors are also filing their papers at provincial capitals and district centres across the country.
The Nomination Court for Zimbabwe’s upcoming elections requires a US$20 000 (R400,000) fee to be lodged at the high court for presidential candidates, US$1000 (R20,000) for parliamentarians at provincial courts, and US$200 (R4,000) for those aspiring to Senate seats.
Although the fees were contested last week, the Constitutional Court upheld the amounts. On Monday, opposition political parties filed an urgent court application seeking a reduction in the fees, but High Court Judge Justice Munamato Mutevedzi ruled that the matter was not urgent and should be set down for a normal hearing. 
ZAPU, an opposition party in Zimbabwe, has failed to file papers for the presidential nomination, with party leader Mr. Sibangilizwe Nkomo allegedly withdrawing his candidacy the night before the filing deadline. The high nomination fees were cited as one of the reasons for their decision not to participate in the presidential election.
The party spokesperson, Msongelwa Ndlovu, stated that ZAPU considered the nomination fees to be unreasonable and felt that they were being asked to buy their democratic rights for $20,000, which sends a bad message to disadvantaged children. However, sources within the party told the <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/zapu-chickens-out-of-presidential-race/#:~:text=OPPOSITION%20ZAPU%20has%20failed%20to,Harmonised%20Elections%20on%20August%2023.">Chronicle</a> that the decision not to run for the presidency had nothing to do with the nomination fees, as the party had already raised the necessary funds. The timing of the announcement left the party without another option to appoint a new candidate for the presidential nomination. Nonetheless, ZAPU will participate in the National Assembly and local government elections.

Six Presidential Candidates Submit Papers For Zimbabwe 23 Aug Elections

Transform Zimbabwe leader Jacob Ngarivhume’s defence team has described his sentence as “outrageous” and vowed to appeal.
Ngarivhume was on Friday sentenced to four years in jail following his conviction the previous day of public violence incitement charges.
He was convicted by Harare magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka after a full trial that lasted almost three years.
Ngarivhume’s defence team led by Lovemore Madhuku said they are going to appeal both the sentence and conviction at the High Court. He said:
<blockquote>
We have been given instructions to file an appeal… so we are filing an appeal on Tuesday and we are also applying for bail pending appeal.
So we expect our client to be out and be a free person in a week or so. We believe that the High Court will certainly not uphold the conviction.
That’s our belief, we are very confident about that and there is everything wrong with the conviction.
Even if the High Court upholds the conviction, we also believe the sentence of 36 months effective is outrageous by any calculation…
You cannot send a political leader to prison for three years for merely tweeting what you consider to be incitement.
Of course, a message must be sent out but this particular sentence is completely outrageous.

The charges against Ngarivhume emanated from a July 2020 tweet in which he called for a national shutdown in protest over poor leadership by the ZANU PF-led government.

Madhuku Says To Appeal "Outrageous" Sentence As Ngarivhume Is Jailed Four Years

Uebert Angel’s lawyer Lovemore Madhuku on Friday told the media that his client had no personal relationship with the First Family.
He was responding to the Gold Mafia documentary, a four-part investigation by Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit (I-Unit).
Angel was one of the key figures in the documentary where he allegedly offered to launder cash into the country using his diplomatic status.
During his encounters with the undercover reporters, Angel was secretly recorded boasting about his close relations with Mnangagwa and how much power he wields as a result.
Madhuku said Angel was appointed Zimbabwe’s Ambassador at Large and Presidential Envoy to Europe and the Americas and his relationship with President Emmerson Mnangagwa was that of a superior and subordinate. Madhuku said:

My client wants to put right across that he has never ever done anything on behalf of the President, no deals or activities on behalf of the President.
His relationship with the President of the Republic ED Mnangagwa is one of superior and subordinate.
My client wants to make it clear that he has no relationship or whatsoever with members of the President’s family, he only has a relationship with the President which is a formal professional relationship.
He wants to tell you that he has never met with the First Lady because his relationship is with the President.

Lovemore Madhuku also denied that Angel was involved in any criminal activity. He said:
<blockquote>
My client wants it known that he has not been, has never been, and will never be involved in any criminal activities.
He would like it to be stated that he has never been involved in any gold smuggling nor has he ever been engaged in money laundering by whatever name it’s called so the insinuations in the Al Jazeera documentary are only baseless.
He is not on Zimbabwe pay, he is working for the interests of the country at the outset.
As soon as my client was appointed it was made known to the whole world that he will be the President’s ambassador-at-large.
There were several people in Europe and other parts of the world that wanted investments in the country with his facilitation, that is a fact.

In the fourth installment of “Gold Mafia” titled “Have The King With You” that was premiered on Friday, 14 April 2023, Angel allegedly asked First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa for her help to launder US$1.2 billion.

Gold Mafia: Lovemore Madhuku Says Uebert Angel's Relationship With Mnangagwa Is Formal

A self-proclaimed prophet, Uebert Angel, who has been exposed as an alleged money launderer and gold smuggler in the “Gold Mafia” documentary by Al Jazeera will respond through his lawyer Lovemore Madhuku.
Angel was appointed Zimbabwe’s Ambassador at Large and Presidential Envoy to Europe and the Americas by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in 2021.
Madhuku has said that he will hold a press conference this Thursday in response to the Al Jazeera documentary.
The press conference will be held the same day Al Jazeera will release the final episode of the four-series documentary.
<a href="https://www.zimmorningpost.com/gold-mafia-ambassador-at-large-eubert-angel-presses-panic-button/">Zim Morning Post</a> reported top government sources as saying Angel is likely to face money laundering charges and allegations of name-dropping. Said the official:
<blockquote>
The authorities are looking into his role in trying to assist those who are laundering money. The law is very clear on this and measures will be taken.
</blockquote>
According to S8(4) of the Money Laundering &amp; Proceeds of Crime Act, “association with or conspiracy to commit, an attempt to commit, and aiding, abetting, facilitating and counselling the commission of money laundering is an offence.”
According to the Al Jazeera documentary, Angel offered undercover reporters who posed as investors that he could use his diplomatic cover to carry large volumes of dirty cash into Zimbabwe as part of a laundering operation also involving gold smuggling.
He repeatedly claimed that Mnangagwa was aware of his schemes, adding:
<blockquote>
I can call the president now, not tomorrow, now and put him on speaker, it’s not an issue. We are the government.
</blockquote>
Angel is the founder and leader of Good News Church, formerly Spirit Embassy, and claims he can heal the sick and predict the outcomes of elections and football matches.
He did not respond to Al Jazeera’s request for a formal comment about the investigation.

Gold Mafia: Madhuku Comes To Uebert Angel's Defence

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has been urged to make it clear whether the delimitation report it submitted to President Emmerson Mnangagwa recently is final or not.
When ZEC chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba submitted the report to Mnangagwa at State House, she revealed that the document was the final delimitation report and said she expected the President to gazette the report within 14 days.
However, government spokesperson Ndavaningi Mangwana, Mnangagwa’s spokesperson George Charamba, and the Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Ziyambi Ziyambi said the report was not final.
<a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200007404/clear-air-on-delimitation-report-zec-told">NewsDay</a> on Sunday requested ZEC to clear the air on whether the report was final or not, but the officials were reportedly evasive.
ZEC spokesperson Jasper Mangwana referred the question to Justice Chigumba.
The publication reported that several efforts to obtain a comment from Chigumba were in vain as her office repeatedly promised to give a response to no avail.
ZEC chief elections officer Uitloile Silaigwana requested the question in writing but had not responded by Sunday night.
Chief director for presidential communications, Anyway Mutambudzi said ZEC should respond on whether the report submitted to Mnangagwa was final or not.
Constitutional lawyer Lovemore Madhuku said it is critical for ZEC to state its position on the report. Said Madhuku:
<blockquote>
Whether the report submitted is final or not should not be a private issue. Everyone at ZEC, from the messenger to the doorman, should know the exact position on that report.
This is a simple issue. That answer is a very critical one that must be given to the public so that they are informed of the correct position.
No one must put pressure on the President but on ZEC. It has the mandate to manage elections and not the President.

ZEC Urged To State Exact Position On Delimitation Report

The Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) says the credibility of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC)’s delimitation report has been affected by apparent division within the commission itself.
Seven ZEC commissioners refused to append their signatures to the report after claiming that it violated the constitution.
The seven commissioners accused ZEC chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba of not consulting them.
POLAD’s governance and legislative agenda chairperson Lovemore Madhuku said there should be clear evidence that all commissioners are involved at every stage of the process. Said Madhuku:
<blockquote>
The preliminary delimitation report doesn’t pass the test set out in the constitution. POLAD regards it as a failure on the part of ZEC.
POLAD is concerned about the internal governance of ZEC. Under our constitution, ZEC is a corporate body consisting of nine commissioners.
The delimitation process cannot be the work of one or two commissioners; there must be clear evidence that all commissioners are involved at every stage of the process.
This is essential for the integrity and credibility of ZEC. POLAD would like to see public appearances of ZEC commissioners at all platforms where ZEC is either presenting to, or receiving from, the president reports relating to the delimitation process.
ZEC must use all the remaining stages to demonstrate in public the involvement of all commissioners.

Chigumba is reportedly relying on the ZEC secretariat to finalise the delimitation report as the seven commissioners remain frozen out.

Divisions At ZEC Worry POLAD

The leader of the opposition National Constitutional Assembly (NCA), Professor Lovemore Madhuku has said the vehicles that were given to POLAD principals recently are not enough suggesting that at least 3 will suffice.
Madhuku was speaking during a presser where he defended the government’s move to d<a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2021/07/31/madhuku-explains-why-he-accepted-polad-car-from-mnangagwa/">isburse over 19 brand new Isuzu cabs to principals of the Political Actors’ Dialogue (POLAD) forum.</a> He said:
<blockquote>
We will advocate for a minimum of 3 vehicles to be given to POLAD members so that we are able to build our political parties. One vehicle is not enough.
We accept that hospitals need to be rehabilitated but that should not hinder us from getting the vehicles. Actually, the vehicles will help us improve service delivery…

Madhuku emphasised that while his party was working with the government, it still remained a standalone party independent of the ruling party ZANU PF.
There are some who believe that POLAD members are working for the ruling party.
MDC Alliance leader, Nelson Chamisa, snubbed POLAD saying the platform would never have any meaningful dialogue. He also alleged that those leaders joining the platform, which was initiated by President Mnangagwa in 2018, were bribed by positions and other goodies.
Speaking at the same presser, Madhuku also said his party stood a chance to win the 2023 elections. Added Madhuku:

What happened in 2018 is now behind us. There is no basis for one to say because we lost in the previous election and therefore we will lose in the upcoming elections is unfounded.

Some said Madhuku’s sentiments will likely motivate scores of individuals to contest in the 2023 presidential election as they will also be interested in receiving benefits associated with POLAD.

One Vehicle Isn't Enough For POLAD, We Need 3 Each- Madhuku

Constitutional law Professor Lovemore Madhuku has said there is no legal ambiguity whatsoever on the expulsion status of six MDC Alliance legislators who were recalled from Parliament recently.
The six legislators were removed from Parliament by a splinter of their former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) saying they had ceased to represent its interests.
National Assembly Speaker Jacob Mudenda simply read out a letter from the PDP seeking the lawmakers’ expulsion without announcing explicitly that their seats had fallen vacant.
This has raised legal questions with legal watchdog Veritas on Monday saying the recalls remained an open question due to “confused and hotly disputed” facts.
But Madhuku, who leads the opposition party National Constitutional Assembly (NCA), said the law was clear, and the six were no longer lawmakers. Madhuku said:
<blockquote>According to our constitutional law, as now spelt out authoritatively by the Constitutional Court, the vacancy of a Member of Parliament who is being recalled arises at the moment the Speaker or the President of the Senate receives the letter that is contemplated in Section 129 (1) (k).
So the vacancy arises at the moment of receipt of the letter. The vacancy does not arise at the moment the Speaker makes the announcement in the National Assembly or the President of the Senate making an announcement in the Senate.
It is not relevant what the speaker says in Parliament or how he words his announcement is not relevant.
What is only relevant is the notification by him to say that I did receive, is just but public information to say that the vacancy did arise earlier on.</blockquote>
MDC Alliance vice president Tendai Biti, formerly PDP president, and colleagues Settlement Chikwinya, William Madzimire, Sichelesile Mahlangu, Regai Tsunga, and Kucaca Phulu were recalled from Parliament on 17 March 2021.

No Legal Ambiguity On Recall Of Biti & 5 Others - Madhuku

National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) leader, Lovemore Madhuku, says President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s so-called new dispensation has adopted the late former President Robert Mugabe’s disregard for human rights.
Madhuku argued that under Mugabe, human rights were considered a preserve of the majority while the minority were routinely persecuted for being critical of the government and this has been perpetuated by the Mnangagwa administration. Said Madhuku:
<blockquote>It is a real notion which Mnangagwa has carried on, which says that if the majority is quiet, then we will beat you (the minority) up, we will arrest you.
I think the government is mistaken there, and this is coming from President Robert Mugabe’s legacy, which says if the majority are not complaining (you are observing human rights). You are (only) three or four people complaining.</blockquote>
Mugabe was ousted from office by the military in a popular coup in November 2017 and died two years later in a Singapore hospital where he was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer.
Western powers imposed sanctions on Mugabe and his inner circle at the turn of the Millenium for egregious human rights abuses.
Meanwhile, several top officials in Mnangagwa’s government and controversial businessmen linked to the government have also been slapped with sanctions.

Madhuku Accuses ED Of Carrying On Mugabe's Legacy

National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) president Professor Lovemore Madhuku has urged Western powers to remove sanctions on the country saying that will expose bad governance by the ruling ZANU PF.
Madhuku made the remarks while addressing party structures in Kwekwe recently amid the country’s preparations to commemorate the SADC Anti-Sanctions Day set for 25 October. He said:
<blockquote>Denouncing sanctions doesn’t make one Zanu PF. The imposition of sanctions on a country is not good no matter how small the sanctions might appear.
Zanu PF is using the sanctions mantra as an excuse for its economic failures. I want sanctions removed so that it will not have any excuses for failing to run the country.</blockquote>
The ruling party has always attributed economic, humanitarian and political crises in the country to sanctions which were imposed at the turn of the millennium following the controversial fast-track land reform.
Madhuku wants sanctions removed so that the government won’t hind “behind the sanctions mantra for its inability to resuscitate the country’s economy.”
He also observed that since the ascendancy of President Emmerson Mnangagwa to power in 2018, Zimbabwe has been on a downward trend economically adding that there is “no success to speak of as he has totally failed.”
Some say corruption which is rampant in the country is the leading factor choking efforts to revive the collapsed economy.
Western states including the United Kingdom, the United States and members of the European Union argue that the sanctions are measures meant to coerce Zimbabwe to return to constitutionalism, rule of law and good governance.

ZANU PF Use Sanctions As Excuse For Failure - Madhuku

National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) leader Lovemore Madhuku said Zimbabweans made a huge mistake in voting for President Emmerson Mnangagwa and MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa in 2018 as nothing tangible has materialised since the disputed the election.
The University of Zimbabwe law lecturer said he was going to offer an alternative leadership in the 2023 elections.
Addressing NCA members in Kwekwe recently, Madhuku said neither ZANU PF nor the MDC cared about the people. He said:
<blockquote>People voted for Mnangagwa and Chamisa in 2018 elections. These were the main contenders in the elections since they polled more votes than any other leaders on the ballot.
Those who voted for Mnangagwa, what can they really say they voted for? The economy is now in worse shape. People are now suffering more while those who voted for Chamisa, it was a vote which has gone to waste again.
Besides giving Chamisa prestige that he gained a considerable number of votes, and inflating the vote figures and vote-rigging claims, there is nothing much he can do for the people as he is not in power. So voting for those two didn’t change the prospects of Zimbabweans.</blockquote>
Madhuku also urged rural folk to consider if there was any meaningful development that has been done by ZANU PF since independence in 1980 and their urban counterparts to take stock of MDC achievements since 2000.

Madhuku Says Zimbabweans Wasted Their Votes In 2018

Lawyer, politician, and fundi, Professor Lovemore Madhuku has said the clause of a party recalling a member of parliament from parliament should be removed from the constitution because the recalls were affecting democratic participation and policy development, the Daily News reports.
Madhuku was speaking during a discussion on the implications of the recent recalls of legislators on policy development and service delivery after Thokozani Khupe’s MDC T recalled 31 legislators.
Said Lovemore Madhuku:
<blockquote>The recalls that have happened now are not different from the recalls that happened in the past, there is just a dispute in terms of which party these MPs belong to.
Parliament believes these MPs belong to MDC-T. It may be wrong or it may be right but that is a matter which is before the courts. I don’t think that the clause should remain.
It should be removed from the Constitution. The NCA doesn’t support that. If Zimbabweans still support that clause it means that they would want a situation where the MPs can be removed.</blockquote>
Madhuku’s sentiments came after Khupe recalled MDC Alliance MPs and councilors alike and virtually paralyzed Beitbridge and Harare councils which according to an <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2020/09/04/khupe-planning-to-recall-councillors-to-paralyse-harare-city-council-and-let-a-govt-commission-take-over-report/">MDC T official was her end game to let the government appoint a commission to run Harare City Council. </a>

Remove The Clause Of Recalling MPs From The Constitution - Lovemore Madhuku

The leader of the MDC Alliance, Nelson Chamisa was on Wednesday forced to calm his supporters who were booing NCA leader and MDC-T leader, in that order, Lovemore Madhuku and Thokozani Khupe who had attended the funeral of Gogo Alice Chamisa.
Khupe and aides were being blocked first by angry MDC Alliance supporters from attending the burial of Gogo Alice Chamisa and they were eventually allowed to join the tense proceedings after Chamisa’s intervention.
Madhuku was forced to prematurely cut his speech as Chamisa’s supporters jeered at him. Chamisa came to the podium urging tolerance. He said:
<blockquote>Madhuku has a legal and political history, he is here with us to mourn Gogo Chamisa, some of us hold no grudges.</blockquote>
Khupe is not a darling of MDC Alliance supporters mainly because she is wrangling with Chamisa in the MDC leadership duel while Madhuku is being crucified for representing and helping Khupe win a court challenge against Chamisa’s legitimacy.
Funerals are one of the events which politicians across the world, including Zimbabwean ones, use to settle political scores.
The late former president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe, used burials at the Heroes Acre to attack his political opponents and the Western community.

Mourning Chamisa Comes To The Rescue Of Khupe, Madhuku

Constitutional lawyer and opposition politician, Lovemore Madhuku says the use of excessive force by the country’s security apparatus while enforcing the country’s lockdown measures was uncalled for.
Madhuku said security services can only use force if there is resistance and they also have to follow established procedures.
Madhuku made the remarks during a virtual interaction with social workers Tuesday. He said:
<blockquote>Security forces can only use reasonable force when reasonable force is called for.
As a general rule, enforcement of lockdown statutory instruments does not require the use of force by security forces.
The security forces are there to arrest people if they are posing a danger and from there, the legal processes of prosecution will take place; not to use excessive force.</blockquote>
Since the lockdown was declared by President Emmerson Mnangagwa March this year, there have been reports of police brutality against citizens and journalists.
Recently, six junior police officers were arrested in Bulawayo’s Cowdray Park suburb for brutally assaulting two women for allegedly violating the stay at home order.

Madhuku Condemns Police, Army Over Lockdown Brutality

The leader of opposition National Constitutional Assembly (NCA), Professor Lovemore Madhuku has hailed workers saying they make the world revolve.
In his May Day message that was posted on social media via his twitter handle, Madhuku said:
<blockquote>Today is a special day to honour the working class. On workers day, we say: “Thank you, without your labour, the world is nothing”. 
We dedicate 2020 to our health workers as they lead the fight against Covid-19. In return, we must give adequate pay and maximum safety at work.</blockquote>
NCA was once a political non-governmental organisation that pushed for constitutional reforms before it was transformed into a political party.
Back then, the organisation was closely associated with labour movements including the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Union.
It also had good relations with the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) party that emerged from workers’ trade unions.

Dr Thokozani Khupe the leader of the opposition MDC-T has called upon members and supporters of her party to remain claim and accept the outcome of the Supreme Court.
She was speaking ahead of the Supreme Court determination in a case in which she and Nelson Chamisa the leader of the opposition MDC-Alliance are fighting for the leadership of the MDC that was founded by the late Morgan Tsvangirai.
Posting on Twitter, Khupe said:

MDC T leader Dr Thokozani Khupe has tweeted that the Supreme court will deliver a ruling in the appeal made by Nelson Chamisa after Khupe sued Chamisa for taking over the party left by its founding Father Morgan Tsvangirai.
The High court had ruled in favour of Khupe. Chamisa through his hotshot lawyer Thabani Mpofu appealed the court’s decision and the supreme court was yet to deliver a verdict.
Khupe tweeted the development and said:

The Supreme Court To Deliver A Ruling In The Chamisa Vs Khupe Control Of MDC Appeal Today

Members to the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) forum have echoed the opposition MDC led by Nelson Chamisa’s calls for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to stop the Constitutional Amendment process.
MDC was always opposed to the process which it says was reversing the gains towards the attainment and or enhancement of democracy in the country.
POLAD members have since last year been working with President Mnangagwa and have also given input to the proposed Constitutional Amendment Bill.
Constitutional law expert, Professor Lovemore Madhuku who is also a member of the POLAD forum last week said that the forum had informed president Mnangagwa that they were not happy with the Bill. He said:
<blockquote>We believe they should withdraw this Bill to allow more discussion, allow more input from Polad and others.</blockquote>
He added that Mnangagwa who hosted POLAD members at the State House liked the debate on the Constitution and said that the government was ready to compromise.
Meanwhile, the MDC has since started mobilising masses against the Bill saying that it was meant to “vandalise the Constitution.”

POLAD Combine Forces With Chamisa To Stop President Mnangagwa's Constitutional Changes

The founding member and former president of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions, Lovemore Matombo, has died. 
Matombo who is also the former president of CASWUZ and TUCZ passed away on Monday around 5pm at his Greendale home in Harare.

Fellow workmates and colleagues including PTUZ Secretary-General Raymond Majongwe have expressed their condolences to the iconic labour leader’s family and nation. Majongwe said:
<blockquote>Cde Lovemore Matombo Former President of the ZCTU, President of CASWUZ, President of TUCZ has passed on. He passed on around 5 pm at his Greendale home today. This gallant unflinching Labour Cde will be greatly missed.</blockquote>
NCA president Lovemore Madhuku also said:
<blockquote>I am very saddened by the news of the passing on of Cde Lovemore Matombo, the former ZCTU President. He was undoubtedly a labour leader par excellent. I have not yet met a more principled trade union leader. Rest in peace dear brother.
It is a very sad moment for all of us. I learnt a lot from him. Between 2002 and 2008, I had the privilege of being the youngest of three leaders of the three movements we had built (labour, constitutional and political): ZCTU, NCA and MDC.
In 2005, it was Cde Matombo who inspired our two movements (ZCTU and NCA) to take sides in the MDC split: he provided the ideological basis for our backing of Morgan Tsvangirai’s ‘anti- Senate’ stance. As a matter of fact, it was the ZCTU- NCA backing that emboldened MT in 2005.</blockquote>
The cause of death has not been revealed.

Former President Robert Mugabe claimed that Professor Lovemore Madhuku is an attention seeker who gets money for his upkeep from manipulating the international community into believing that he is a human rights activist.
Madhuku, a law expert, a lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe and leader of the NCA party is a member of the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) forum.

The Secretary in the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs, Mrs Virginia Mabiza on Friday presented before the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) forum members the gazetted proposed constitutional amendment clauses so that they give their input.
The government recently gazetted 27 proposed amendments to the Constitution which have attracted huge criticism from the opposition MDC led by Nelson Chamisa and some political commentators.
Critics observed that the proposed amendments to the Constitution are a huge setback to the democratisation process in the country as they take away inputs which were directly contributed by the general populace during the COPAC process.
Meanwhile, POLAD  co-convenor, Mrs Margaret Sangarwe told members of the media that POLAD members have selected three chairpersons to lead thematic committees which will deliberate on the proposed amendments.
Sangarwe revealed that Dr Thokozani Khupe was elected chairperson for the international re-engagement committee, Professor Lovemore Madhuku chairman of constitutional matters and legislative committee while Mr Trust Chikohora was made chairperson of the economic committee.
POLAD members also selected chairpersons and vice-chairpersons for three thematic committees.
The development comes a few days after POLAD members had complained that the government had gazetted the proposed amendments without incorporating POLAD’s views.
The outcry prompted Justice Minister to say that POLAD was not an arm of government that needs to be consulted on government policy issues.

Government Presents Gazetted Proposed Constitutional Amendment Clauses To POLAD

The former President of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki is today expected to meet with POLAD members in Harare.
This was revealed by the Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Nick Mangwana who posted on Twitter saying:

It is reported that Mbeki’s visit is for him to get a full understanding of the Zimbabwean crisis which has dragged for too long.
Mbeki is not new to Zimbabwean politics after he mediated talks between ZANU PF and the two MDC formations leading to the formation of the Government of National Unity (GNU) a decade ago.

Former SA President, Thabo Mbeki, Meeting POLAD Bunch Today

A former Deputy Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs has claimed that the Zimbabwean justice system is the best in Africa and probably in the whole world.
<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Obert_Gutu">Advocate Obert Gutu</a> who is now the vice president of the MDC led by<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Thokozani_Khupe"> Dr Thokozani Khupe</a> posted on twitter and said:
<blockquote>The Zimbabwean Judiciary has been unfairly attacked for being partisan &amp; politically biased. I respectfully beg to disagree with this misplaced notion. I will put my head on the block &amp; fearlessly state that our Judiciary is one of the best in Africa, if not in the entire world.</blockquote>
His remarks come when the opposition MDC led by <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Nelson_Chamisa">advocate Nelson Chamisa</a> has often criticised the courts for “showing favouritism to the ruling ZANU PF”.

"Our Judiciary Is One Of The Best In Africa, If Not In The Entire World" Former Deputy Minister Of Justice

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Lovemore_Madhuku">Lovemore Madhuku</a> who in the past has been accused of being in bed with Zanu Pf though he leads his own political party sat down and had an interview with Newsday. In the interview, he shook off the Zanu PF tag by dismissing the stories and saying he was being objective in all cited incidences.
Mdhuku was asked if he was a sellout because he was accused of dining with Zanu a party he has been fighting for years. Madhuku responded:
<blockquote>I don’t know what is meant by dining with them, but I am sure you are referring to being in <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Political_Actors_Dialogue">Political Actors Dialogue (Polad).</a> It is not about dining with anyone. Polad is a national dialogue process where political players come together to debate issues to do with Zimbabwe; that is nothing to do with Zanu PF.</blockquote>
Madhuku was also asked about his participation in the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/The_Motlanthe_Commission">Motlanthe Commission</a> of enquiry and he said it was imperative that the enquiry be done:
<blockquote>There were no financial benefits in the Motlanthe Commission. The commission was very important for our country; it was the commission that found out that the army and police were responsible for killing six civilians on August 1 2018. That was a point that was made by the commission. We recommended that it should never happen again that government is irresponsible in terms of how it deals with demonstrations. We even recommended compensation, so why should the Motlanthe Commission be seen as dining with Zanu PF? The commission was the building block to the future of the country.</blockquote>
Madhuku took the time to dismiss the notion that there is a new dispensation and said it was the old dispensation going backwards and that Mugabe died but the system he created lived on.

Madhuku Denies Dining With Zanu PF

This was said by a member of the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Political_Actors_Dialogue" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD</a>), <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/National_Constitutional_Assembly" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">National Constitutional Assembly (NCA)</a> leader <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Lovemore_Madhuku" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Lovemore Madhuku</a>, in an interview with <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">NewsDay</a>. He said:
<blockquote>She (Justice Chigumba) will not be there in 2023, you can get it from us, she was appointed, she will have to resign or somewhat compensated, but 2023 elections will not be run by a chairperson who was appointed by the President.
In the 2023 elections, the whole commission will be appointed by a body of politicians who are players.
That is the reform that we want. We actually want the Constitution to be amended. To have a conference of political actors to endorse the commission.</blockquote>
However, when contacted for comment, ZANU PF representative at POLAD and politburo member, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Paul_Mangwana" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana</a>, professed ignorance over plans to remove Chigumba from her role by the State House interlocutors.

"Chigumba Will Be Gone By 2023"

National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) leader <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Lovemore_Madhuku" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Lovemore Madhuku</a> says both the ruling ZANU PF party and the main opposition MDC are not capable of taking Zimbabwe to the Promised Land.
In an interview with <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">NewsDay</a>, Madhuku opined that ZANU PF’s methods have failed to work while the MDC leadership is arrogant and considers to have a monopoly of opposition support. He said:
<blockquote>You have Zanu PF, on the one hand, whose methods are not working and on the other hand, the MDC Alliance that is made up of totally arrogant leaders who are misplaced.
They will say one thing today, another tomorrow and keep changing and believe that they have a monopoly of opposition support … I don’t see Zimbabweans in 2023, still thinking that they are choosing between Zanu PF and MDC.
By 2023, everyone would have seen that there is no leadership coming out of the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/MDC_Alliance" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">MDC Alliance</a>.</blockquote>
Madhuku’s party failed to win a single local authority or Parliamentary seat in the 2018 general elections. MDC Leaders Are Arrogant & Believe They Have A Monopoly Of Opposition Support - Madhuku

Madhuku contested that it is imperative to invest in conscientising citizens on the state of affairs in the country as most of them vote for the ruling party out of ignorance. He said:
<blockquote>You find people in government who have no clue as to how to change the economic situation, how to turn around the economy, that is what we have at the moment.
So there is no new dispensation at all … we must invest heavily in conscientising the majority of our people.
I believe the only way forward for this country is to make people alert because despite what these people in government are doing they still enjoy support.
Go to a by-election, you find that the majority of those who turn out to vote, vote for them notwithstanding the economic hardships, notwithstanding political repression.</blockquote>

Madhuku: ZANU PF Clueless On How To Change Economic Situation

Leader of the National Constitutional Assembly (NCA), Lovemore Madhuku has condemned the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) led by lawyer and pastor, Nelson Chamisa for its “selfishness”.
Madhuku told ZBC News that this is not the right time for the opposition to call for demonstrations as the government has set up a platform for dialogue, the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD).
POLAD brings together President Emmerson Mnangagwa and some the losing candidates who took part in the 2018 presidential election.
While Madhuku is part of the so-called State House Dialogue, Chamisa has turned his back, insisting on meeting Mnangagwa one-on-one.
Madhuku castigated Chamisa and his party for demanding a face-to-face meeting with Mnangagwa. According to ZBC News Online:
<blockquote>Professor Madhuku also said the ‘selfish’ MDC is not in the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) because it wants to the there alone and speaks of President Mnangagwa’s legitimacy when it comes to certain issues but puts the rhetoric aside when it comes to allowances, government vehicles and diplomatic passports.</blockquote>
