<p>Former MDC Alliance Deputy Treasurer and Senator for Midlands Province, Lilian Timveos, has passed away after a short illness.</p>
<p>Timveos passed away Monday morning at a local hospital in Harare following an undisclosed illness.</p>
<p>A prominent figure in Zimbabwe’s opposition politics for many years, Timveos made headlines when she defected to ZANU PF on February 24, 2021.</p>
<p>In the same year, Timveos, was appointed to the Petrotrade board but was later suspended over corruption allegations.</p>
<p>In a condolence message, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who is currently attending the COP29 climate change conference in Azerbaijan, expressed his shock at the news of her passing.  He has directed that Timveos be granted a State-assisted funeral. Said Mnangagwa:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>I received with utter shock and sadness news of the passing on today of Mrs Lilian TImveos after a sudden, unexpected illness.</p>
<p>A dynamic, grassroots politician, a community leader and an enterprising businesswoman, Mrs Timveos ’ demise has robbed our Nation of a promising leader and staunch gender activist who earned and commanded respect across the national political divide.</p>
<p>Her rejoining the ruling ZANU PF Party, alongside several hundreds of erstwhile opposition leaders and activists, mirrored her daring, independent-minded politics and tenacious search for larger unity and consensual politics in our Nation.</p>
<p>We respect her immensely, and will forever cherish and remember her boldness in seeking to break the binary mould within which our politics have been cast, to the detriment of unity, consensus and cohesion in our Nation.</p>
<p>She thus leaves behind a salutary lesson of broad-minded politics to those in opposition, while exhorting those of us in the ruling Party to always strive for, and work towards building a broad political church in which all are welcome and accommodated.</p>
<p>On behalf of the ruling Zanu PF Party, Government, my Family, and on my behalf, I wish to express my deepest, heartfelt condolences to the TImveos Family on this, their saddest and so unexpected loss. May they find respite and comfort in the great esteem with which we all held her.</p>
<p>I have directed Government to weigh in by according the dear departed Comrade a State-assisted funeral.</p>
<p>May her dear soul rest in eternal peace.</p>

Lilian Timveos, a former politician in Zimbabwe, has died after being sick. She used to be in the opposition, then switched to ruling party. She was respected by many in the country. The President, Emmerson Mnangagwa, is sad about her death and has decided to give her a special funeral. Timveos was seen as a leader and activist for gender equality. She will be remembered for her efforts in uniting people from different political backgrounds.

Lilian Timveos Has Died

<p><strong><a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Lilian_Timveos/">Lilian Timveos</a> </strong>has been appointed as the national secretary for training and implementation in the Citizens Against Economic Sanctions (CAES) executive council in the Midlands province.</p>
<p>Temveous has been advocating for the removal of sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by some Western countries at the turn of the millennium.</p>
<p>Martin Zharare, the CAES Executive Director, noted that Lilian Timveos’ appointment would assist in educating women on the negative impact of sanctions. Zharare said:</p>
<blockquote>
<p><em>I would like to take this opportunity to welcome and congratulate the new appointee and wish her all the best in her new portfolio as we all aspire to have illegal sanctions imposed on the Zimbabwean people lifted.</em></p>
<p><em> </em><em>It is through her dedication, patriotism and resilience in the fight against illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe that we have seen it fit to bestow on her the leadership roll as we move to build a strong and vibrant organisation that is at the forefront of equipping citizens with the necessary skills to rise above the after-effects of the economic sanctions and become masters of their own destinies</em>.</p>

<p>Lilian Timveos expressed her honour to join the team and pledged to work tirelessly to remove the sanctions imposed in the country. She stated that she and the team would conduct awareness campaigns nationwide to educate people about the Zidera act. She added:</p>

<p><em>We are going to rope in more women and train them on various income-generating projects so that they can sustain themselves and their families. We want to show the world that sanctions will not deter us from making progress and develop our country as patriotic Zimbabweans.</em></p>

<p>Lilian Timveos dumped the <a href="https://wiki.pindula.co.zw/Nelson_Chamisa" title="Nelson Chamisa">Nelson Chamisa</a> and <a href="https://wiki.pindula.co.zw/Douglas_Mwonzora" title="Douglas Mwonzora">Douglas Mwonzora</a>-led led opposition parties and joined the ruling <a class="mw-redirect" href="https://wiki.pindula.co.zw/Zanu_PF" title="Zanu PF">ZANU PF</a> on 24 February 2021.</p>

<p>Zanu PF Zvishavane has welcomed its brand new member former MDC Alliance official Lilian Timveos. This was revealed by Nick Mangwana the Infomation Ministry Permanent Secretary who shared photos of a Zimbabwe flag scuff clad Timveos at the welcome party.</p>
<p>Mangwana captioned the photos he shared of Timveos being welcomed to Zanu PF Zvishavane:</p>

<p>Norton Member of Parliament, Temba Mliswa (Independent) says MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa should review his leadership style and be more decisive as the party continues to haemorrhage senior members.</p>
<p>Former MDC Alliance top official Lilian Timveos and former MDC-T Member of Parliament Blessing Chebundo were yesterday welcomed by ZANU PF First Secretary and President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House after leaving the Chamisa and Douglas Mwonzora-led parties respectively.</p>
<p>Mliswa also opined that Timveos and Chebundo crossed the floor to join a shell of the ruling party, saying ZANU PF can only be restored to its former glory when the likes of Rugare Gumbo and Ray Kaukonde among others, return to the party. <a href="https://twitter.com/TembaMliswa/status/1364787570710896641" rel="noopener" target="_blank"><strong>Mliswa wrote on Twitter:</strong></a></p>
<blockquote><p>I note politicians crossing floors and joining @ZANUPF_Official but the question is, which ZANU-PF are they joining? I continue to maintain, it’s no longer the ZANU-PF we all once knew.</p>
<p>When the likes of, Jabulani Sibanda, Mai Mujuru, Rugare Gumbo, Ray Kaukonde, Mushore, Bvundura, etc, go back to ZANU-PF, then you know it’s the ZANU-PF we once knew; the real deal. For now, it’s an ignominy.</p>
<p>A ZANU-PF yana Mudha nana July Moyo ingave ZANU-PF here? Aiwa, no! These are examples of those who’ve destroyed the Party, who can’t even win elections in the Midlands.</p>
<p>In being a member of a political party, one could simply be part of a sinking ship, I’ve personally lost confidence in political parties. They’ve wasted resources better spent during recalls etc. Imagine how much was spent on recalls and the subsequent by-elections?</p>
<p>@lilimikoro Hon. Senator Timveos is a hard worker in her own right who amongst others like @hwendec @ThabithaKhumalo @PMutseyami etc, to mention a few, probably felt let down by @nelsonchamisa who didn’t stand for those loyal to him.</p>
<p>As a leader, one must stand for their people or they inevitably lose traction. @lilimikoro was without doubt a @nelsonchamisa hardliner, and it would be wise for Chamisa to review his leadership style. He must be decisive and defend his people.</p></blockquote>

Chamisa Should Change Leadership Style - Mliswa

<p>I would like to thank my sisters and brothers in the MDC family for the political journey traversed since the party’s formation in 1999. However, after careful consideration and retrospection, particularly on how the MDC party has been conducting its business</p>
<p>I have sadly come to the conclusion that nothing constructive with regards to Democracy, Good Governance and the well-being of Zimbabweans, in general, would ever come out of the MDC- A.</p>
<p>Over the years, I have observed the following among other issues that; the party has been at the forefront of criticizing ZANU (PF) and ZEC for allegedly failing to conduct credible elections, yet MDC internal elections have always been marred with a lot of irregularities.</p>
<p>Vote Rigging and buying as well as the imposition of candidates has become synonymous with MDC internal elections. The chaotic MDC-A and MDC-T elective Congresses quickly comes to mind.</p>
<p>The MDC Senior leadership’s intolerance to divergent views and power-hungry tendencies have caused serious divisions and disintegration of the party.</p>
<p>Similarly, the party’s retrogressive confrontational approach and violent tendencies have led to the unnecessary destruction of property, injury to innocent civilians and destabilization of the economy.</p>
<p>The party is good at criticising the ZANU (PF) Government, particularly on social media without coming up with tangible or practical solutions to the country’s challenges.</p>
<p>Pres E.D MNANGAGWA soon after the 2018 Harmonised elections created a platform where all the country’s political players converge and contribute towards bringing the people of Zimbabwe together and share ideas on how to rebuild the country, yet MDC-A keeps on excluding itself from this noble platform. Self-exclusion from Polad vindicates the party’s self-centred approach.</p>
<p>MDC-A party has always held Western Govts in high esteem, welcoming advice from them with open arms irrespective of the same’s hypocrisy, double standards and questionable track records with regards to Human Rights &amp; the implementation of Democratic principles.</p>
<p>The party shuns engaging local stakeholders and fellow Zimbabweans in general, yet these have the interests of the country at heart.</p>
<p>It is sad to note that the MDC-A has not observed that political players in the Western countries to whom they very much like to draw lessons from find one another and engage whenever national interests are at stake.</p>
<p>I have decided to join the ruling Zanu Pf Party because of the party’s impeccable track record. The party has the interests of the people at heart as evidenced by community-driven projects it has been implementing over the years.</p>
<p>Furthermore, the party has over the years been successfully holding its internal elections and the party has always been open to dialogue whenever the country’s peace and stability is threatened.</p>
<p>I am also happy to announce that the Zanu Pf President and First Secretary Cde ED MNANGAGWA has welcomed me into the Zanu Pf family without any conditions to which I am very grateful.</p>
<p>In conclusion, the MDC-A need self introspection and a paradigm shift in the ways it conducts business if it is to remain relevant in the Zimbabwean political arena.</p>

<p class="js-tweet-text tweet-text with-linebreaks" lang="en">Norton legislator (independent), Temba Mliswa has said that the impasse between the ruling ZANU PF and the opposition MDC was no longer sustainable.</p>
<p class="js-tweet-text tweet-text with-linebreaks" lang="en">His remarks come when ZANU PF legislators disrupted and walked out of Parliament Committees chaired by MDC MPs as punishment to the MDC whose MPS have been boycotting Parliament events attended by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.</p>
<p class="js-tweet-text tweet-text with-linebreaks" lang="en">The MDC does not recognise Mnangagwa as the legitimate president of the country saying his presidency was as a result of a stolen election. Mliswa is one of the observers who have been urging the two parties to find each other for the sake of the country. Posting on Twitter, Mliswa said:</p>
