Kudakwashe Mahachi says the reason he decided to join Manica Diamonds, which is based in Mutare after his return to the local premiership was his desire to move out of Bulawayo.
The 30-year-old star spent several months in and out of court in the City of Kings fighting allegations of child abuse and attempted murder on his four-year-old son, Diego.
He was acquitted in November last year on both counts.
Mahachi joined Manica Diamonds last week on a two-year contract after being offloaded by Ghana’s Medeama SC at the end of January this year, just five months into his one-year contract.
Speaking to <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/why-mahachi-chose-manica-diamonds/">The Manica Post</a>, Mahachi, who was reportedly a target for Dynamos and Yadah Stars, said he was happy to join Manica Diamonds. He said:

I am happy to be here. I know this move to join Manica Diamonds is my search for peace of mind.
I desperately wanted to get out of Bulawayo and I am happy I have managed to do just that. I am looking forward to an exciting season in Mutare.
I just need peace of mind more than anything else. This move is not really about the money, but I feel I will get that peace of mind while playing football here in Mutare.

Mahachi said he has a long-standing relationship and respect for Manica Diamond’s head coach, JairosTapera. He said:

Mahachi Explains Why He Joined Manica Diamonds

Kuda Mahachi has joined Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side Manica Diamonds on a two-year contract.
Mahachi, who was reportedly a target for Harare giants Dynamos and Yadah Stars, was left clubless after being offloaded by Ghana’s Medeama SC at the end of January this year, just five months into his one-year contract.
The 30-year-old attacker lost his lucrative contract with South African top side SuperSport United after his ex-wife accused him of physically injuring their son.
The case went to court and he was acquitted of the charges.
Mahachi spent over a year on the sidelines before he was signed by Medeama SC where he was restricted to cameo appearances, where he only scored one goal
The Ghanaian club terminated his contract as he struggled with fitness.
Mahachi played for SuperSport United, Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows in South Africa.
It is Mahachi’s second stint in the local premiership, having played for Bantu Rovers, Chicken Inn and Highlanders.

Kuda Mahachi Joins Manica Diamonds

Ghanaian Premier League Medeama have terminated Kuda Mahachi’s contract, five months after signing the Zimbabwean international.
Mahachi joined Medeama in August last year after spending several months without kicking a ball as he was in and out of court on allegations of child abuse.
In a statement issued on Saturday, 27 January, the club said Mahachi had failed to nail down a place in the team due to lack of fitness. It said:
Medeama and Kudakwashe Mahachi have parted ways on mutual ground after five months at the club.
The Zimbabwean joined the Mauve and Yellows in August 2023 but struggled to cement his role due to lack of fitness.
Mahachi was suspended by South African club SuperSport United on 13 May 2022 following allegations that he had scalded his son with hot water leading to serious injuries
Supersport United did not renew Mahachi’s contract when it expired on 30 June 2022.
On 25 November 2022, Mahachi was acquitted of two separate counts of attempted murder by Bulawayo regional magistrate Mark Dzira.
In January 2023, Mahachi trained with Maritzburg United as he wanted to get his career back on track.
But the Team of Choice decided not to sign him, as he didn’t impress coach Fadlu Davids enough.
In March 2023, Mahachi was invited for a trial stint by the Gibraltar professional football team, FCB Magpies.
In June 2023, Mahachi’s agent, Gibson Mahachi claimed that Highlanders had expressed their interest in signing his client during the June window.
In August 2023, Mahachi joined Ghanaian club Medeama SC on a one-year renewable contract on a free transfer.

Kuda Mahachi has joined Ghanaian Premier League champions Madeama on a one-year deal becoming the first Zimbabwean player t play in Ghana. The team will be playing in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League.
Mahachi has been club-hunting since May 2022 when he was suspended by SuperSport United following <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/kuda-mahachi-acquitted-of-attempted-murder-charges/">allegations that he had poured hot water on his 10-year-old son with the intention to kill him.</a>

Kuda Mahachi Joins Ghanaian Premier League Champions Madeama

South African football agent Mike Ngobeni has pleaded with the football community to give Kudakwashe Mahachi a chance to revive his career.
Mahachi has been without a club since he was suspended by SuperSport United in May 2022 after his ex-wife, Maritha Ndlovu, accused him of scalding their four-year-old son with hot water.
He was then arraigned before the courts facing two counts of attempting to kill his four-year-old son, Diego.
Despite his acquittal by the courts, Mahachi has not found a new club and his career is in limbo.
Speaking to <a href="https://www.soccer24.co.zw/2023/07/28/forgive-mahachi-ngobeni-urges-football-community/">Soccer24</a>, Ngobeni said the football community needs to forgive Mahachi and help him to get back on his feet. He said:

I was not managing him but I was just helping him, as a young boy who had just arrived in South Africa without knowing a lot of people.

He played for Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United and those are big clubs.
We all make some mistakes in life, the football fraternity needs to forgive the boy, let’s all help him to get back on track.

Ngobeni urged Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clubs to open their doors for Mahachi. He said:

Clubs should give Mahachi a chance, especially Zimbabwean clubs. I don’t know what’s going on, maybe he is asking for too much money but what Im saying is; they (local clubs) should give Kuda (Mahachi) a chance to revive his career.
We always see these things in Europe, where players, after going through similar circumstances, are given the chance to revive their careers.
Kuda is a family man, he has got a wife, and a family to look after. The only thing he can do now is to use his legs to put food on the table.
I’m not saying I want to manage the boy (Mahachi). I read an article that said nobody wants to give him a chance.
We read football news every day and we read about worse things happening but the players are eventually given another chance.

Warriors winger Kudakwashe Mahachi has reportedly been invited to undergo trials at a European club.
<a href="https://www.sundaynews.co.zw/kuda-mahachi-gets-europe-invite/">The Sunday News</a> reported that the 29-year-old Mahachi has been invited for trials by Gibraltar professional football team, FCB Magpies.
Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory and headland, on Spain’s south coast.
A leaked invitation written by FCB Magpies vice-president Aaron Edwards dated 15 March 2023, reads:

Please accept this letter as an official invitation from FCB Magpies, a Gibraltar professional football team, for Kudakwashe Mahachi, a Zimbabwean national with passport no (hidden) to attend a football trial in Gibraltar.
As part of the trial invite FCB Magpies will provide accommodation and all food expenses.

Mahachi has been without a club since his release by DStv premiership side SuperSport United at the end of last season.
He was released following accusations of attempting to murder his son, Diego, in South Africa.
However, the Court acquitted Mahachi saying the State failed to prove the essential elements of the case, and the evidence given by witnesses was disjointed and contradictory.

Kudakwashe Mahachi’s agent, Gibson Mahachi, said that the Warriors forward is training in Johannesburg after he failed to get a deal at DStv premiership side Maritzburg United.
Mahachi trained with “The Team of Choice” in January after he was acquitted by a Zimbabwean court on an attempted murder charge.

Warriors midfielder <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Kudakwashe_Mahachi">Kuda Mahachi</a> is searching for a club again after his <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/kuda-mahachi-closer-to-signing-for-a-new-club/">proposed move to South African top-flight side Maritzburg United</a> failed to materialize.
The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Bulawayo">Bulawayo</a>-raised winger, whose career has been affected by <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/my-career-was-ended-before-i-reached-my-pinnacle-kuda-mahachi-letter/">off-field problems </a>in the last eight months, was looking to revive it with a move to the KwaZulu Natal-based side. 
Mahachi trained with Maritzburg but the club decided not to sign him, with South African football publication <a href="https://www.idiskitimes.co.za/dstv-premiership/maritzburg-reject-ex-sundowns-and-pirates-winger/">iDiski Times, reporting that new coach Fadlu Davids was not impressed by the player.</a>
Pindula News understands that Mahachi was offered a very lucrative contract by an unnamed club in Tanzania but turned it down, choosing to pursue the Maritzburg opportunity instead.
A well-placed source close to Mahachi, who spoke to Pindula News and asked not to be named, criticized the player’s decision-making.
The source said:

“He is without a club. He was offered a good deal by a Tanzanian club playing CAF Champions League football and refused. That Tanzanian team offered him a signing on fee of USD60 000 a year, but he declined the offer and chose to go to South Africa. The move did not go through.

Kuda Mahachi Rejected By Maritzburg United, Unsettled Star Club-Hunting Again

Former Supersport United winger Kudakwashe Mahachi was this Friday acquitted of two separate counts of attempted murder by Bulawayo regional magistrate Mark Dzira, reported <a href="https://www.sundaynews.co.zw/kuda-mahachi-acquitted/">The Sunday News</a>.
Mahachi was facing two counts of attempting to kill his four-year-old son Diego.
Allegations against Mahachi were that on a date unknown to the prosecutor but between 25 February and 14 April 2022, Mahachi assaulted his son with an iron bar on the head and mouth and also poured hot water all over his body.
The footballer was also accused of assaulting his son with a charger cable all over the body.
In his ruling, Magistrate Dzira said the complainant gave contradictory statements during cross-examination.
He also said other witnesses who testified also gave inconsistent testimonies and it was difficult to ascertain who was lying and who was telling the truth.
Dzira said medical experts could not ascertain the cause of the injuries hence the dismissal of the case and acquittal of Mahachi.

Kuda Mahachi Acquitted Of Attempted Murder Charges

Former SuperSport United winger Kudakwashe Mahachi says he has not quit football and believes he can still resurrect his career when his legal woes come to an end.
Mahachi is being accused of scalding his four-year-old son with boiling water while he was in his custody in South Africa.
In an interview with <a href="https://www.bmetro.co.zw/kuda-mahachi-opens-up-on-troubles/">B Metro</a>, the former Warriors winger insisted on his innocence saying God will intervene on his behalf. He said:
<blockquote>
It has been a challenging time for me. However, I pray and hope the courts will do justice on the matter.
It has been six trying months for me but I still believe my God will do me well.
I have been on the sidelines but I still believe my legs can still carry me.
I’m not hanging up my boots soon. It takes courage but I admit things have never been the same for me.
</blockquote>
Mahachi is currently on trial for child abuse and the attempted murder of his four-year-old son.
He is accused of scalding his four-year-old son with boiling water leading to third-degree burns and of assaulting him with an iron bar on his head and with a phone charger cable all over his body.
His grandmother and his ex-wife recently testified against him in court.
Mahachi is not attached to any club after SuperSport United suspended him and decided not to renew his contract following the allegations.

I'm Not Hanging My Boots Soon - Mahachi

Footballer Kudakwashe Mahachi’s grandmother said she was filled with pain when she saw the child’s condition after he was allegedly scalded by his father in South Africa before he was smuggled into Zimbabwe.
Mahachi’s 82-year-old grandmother, Julian Ntuli, was giving her testimony before Bulawayo regional magistrate Mark Dzira during the footballer’s ongoing trial.
Mahachi is on trial for attempting to murder his son, Diego, by pouring boiling water all over his body.
Ntuli said she was called by Sinikiwe Sibanda, Mahachi’s sister to come to Cowdray Park to see the child a few days after he was “smuggled” from South Africa. She said:
<blockquote>
I was filled with pain when l saw the child’s condition, the house was smelling and l enquired about the whereabouts of the child’s mother.
I asked the girls to call her and l invited her to the house. When she arrived, it was already late for us to go to the hospital. We had to go to the hospital the next day.

Ntuli said Mahachi and his wife Rose only sent R600 (about US$30) for them to take the child to the hospital.
She said she wanted to take the five-year-old boy to Mpilo Central Hospital, but Mahachi said he wanted them to go to a clinic in Mpopoma.
Ntuli said the child was taken to the clinic and the nurses then called the ambulance to take him to Mpilo Central Hospital. She added:

When l looked at the child’s wounds, l observed that the child was seriously injured, he was burnt on the left and right side, especially on the thighs and the right leg.

Kuda Mahachi's Grandmother Testifies In Court

Footballer Kudakwashe Mahachi’s trial on charges of attempted murder and neglect of child commenced at the Bulawayo regional court on Thursday.
Mahachi pleaded not guilty to both charges before regional magistrate Mark Dzira and was remanded out of custody to 6 September for continuation of trial.
He is accused of scalding his four-year-old son and assaulting him with an iron bar in South Arica early this year.
Mahachi’s sister so far has testified as a State witness.
Prosecutor Acumen Khuphe said that from February 25 2022 to April 14 Mahachi intentionally attempted to cause the death of his son Diego Christian. Said Khuphe:

The complainant, in this case, is Diego Christian Mahachi a male juvenile aged 4 years, residing at House number 38 1st Street Marriage Quarters Makokoba, Bulawayo.
Mahachi sought the complainant’s mother to take the complainant to South Africa since they had divorced as he wanted him to have better education and the complainant went to South Africa on 25 February 2022 in the company of his aunt Meline Mahachi who returned to Zimbabwe on 27 February 2022.
On a date unknown to the prosecutor between 25 February 2022 to 14 April 2022 the accused person assaulted the complainant with an iron bar on the head and mouth.
He further poured hot water all over the complainant’s body and assaulted him with a charger cable all over the body.
As a result of the assault, the complainant sustained burns and injuries all over the body.

In July Mahachi appeared before a separate court facing theft charges.
He was being accused of stealing his sister’s phone to conceal evidence that allegedly proved he committed the crimes against his son.

Kudakwashe Mahachi Attempted Murder Trial Kicks Off

Warriors midfielder Kudakwashe Mahachi has been acquitted of theft charges after a Bulawayo magistrate established there was bad blood between the soccer star and his sister Meline who was the complainant.
Mahachi was charged with theft after he allegedly snatched and damaged an XP iPhone belonging to Meline as part of concerted efforts to destroy evidence in a case in which he is being accused of scalding his four-year-old son with boiling water.
<a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/supersports-mahachi-cleared-of-theft/">NewZimbabwe.com</a> reports that in acquitting the former Highlanders midfielder, Bulawayo magistrate Vivian Ndlovu said the State failed to prove the essential elements of the case.
The magistrate noted that Meline made it clear that she willingly gave the phone to Mahachi during cross-examination.
Court also ruled there were inconsistencies in her evidence.
During the trial, prosecutors called four witnesses including the complainant and her neighbour Chaka Mafaro.

Kuda Mahachi Cleared Of Theft Charges

Kudakwashe Mahachi’s ex-wife Maritha Ndlovu has won custody of their four-year-old son after the Department of Social Welfare had taken him.
Mahachi is accused of assaulting and scalding his son while at his house in South Africa. The footballer, however, denies the charges.
Officials from the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare took the child so that he can give an independent testimony in the criminal matter which is pending against Mahachi.
The department had also stated that it fears for the safety of the minor child but Ndlovu, the child’s mother, challenged the decision to take the child from her.
Through her lawyers, Coghlan and Welsh, Ndlovu argued that no persuasive reasons were given by the Social Welfare Department as to why it fears for the safety of the minor child while with his mother.
Ndlovu won back custody of her child after a probation officer’s report, with Bulawayo magistrate, Vivian Ndlovu showed that there was nothing Ndlovu can do that is detrimental to the minor child. Reads the judgement:

The minor child was said to be the child in need of care in terms of Section 2(j) of the Children’s Act by the Social Welfare Department.
Court finds that the probation officer’s report shows nothing that the mother has done which is detrimental to the interests of the child.
Probation officer’s report states that the child was allegedly injured in the custody of Kudakwashe Mahachi who allegedly assaulted him with a charging cable and scalded him with hot water.

Ndlovu had challenged the taking into custody of the minor by the Social Welfare Department saying they had failed, neglected or refused to take him to Mpilo Central Hospital for his weekly reviews.

Kudakwashe Mahachi’s sister, Meline Mahachi, has dismissed the footballer’s claims that he owns the phone that he is charged with stealing.
Mahachi is on trial for allegedly stealing his sister’s phone in a bid to destroy evidence implicating him for allegedly scalding his four-year-old son with boiling water.
In his defence, Mahachi said the iPhone XR he allegedly stole belongs to him and he had given the phone to his sister for safe keeping whilst he was away in South Africa. He said he uses the phone when he is in Zimbabwe.
Mahachi said he had gone to his sister’s place of residence to collect his belongings including the phone and the money that Meline was keeping for him.
He said Meline handed over the phone and the money to him as per their agreement.
Mahachi as he was about to leave, Meline’s husband, Paul Sixpence, violently grabbed the phone and the keys to his car.
After a number of minutes, Sixpence is said to have brought back the car keys and Mahachi left the scene.
However, Meline told the court that her brother is lying as the phone belonged to her and was bought by her husband. She said:

I reside in Mzilikazi, I am a vendor. I know the accused person. He is my younger brother. I know why he is in court today.
On 13 June whilst I was sitting at home with my husband, he called me using his wife’s friend’s cellphone.
He asked me to come out so that we could talk. I went outside and found him parked.
He was with his wife, Zibusiso and another female.
The accused person indicated that he had lost his phone. He asked if he could use mine to phone.
The accused then said to Zibusiso ‘let us go’. When I heard him saying they should go, I grabbed his hand and half of my hand was in the car.

Sixpence corroborated his wife’s version of events, saying he bought a phone for her in 2015 and there were several swap deals in 2018 and 2020 after the phone’s screen was damaged. He said:

I am 37 years old, I reside in Mzilikazi in Bulawayo. I am employed. This woman is my wife.
I know the accused person as my brother-in-law. I know why he is in court today. I was there when the phone was stolen.
It happened on 13 June at around 1 pm. We were about to leave our place to attend a function, my wife received a call.
We waited for them to arrive. After a few minutes I followed, and I saw my wife trying and pulling something from the car.
I bought the phone in 2015 but there were several swap deals. She has been using the phone since 2020.

Kudakwashe Mahachi’s brother-in-law, Paul Sixpence (37), has appeared in court for allegedly assaulting the footballer’s best friend.
Sixpence is married to Mahachi’s sister, Meline Mahachi.
He is accused of assault as defined in section (89/1) of the criminal law (codification and reform) act chapter 9:23.
Sixpence recently appeared before magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa.
The complainant, Zibusiso Hadebe (35) from New Magwegwe, alleges that on 13 June this year in Mzilikazi suburb, Sixpence assaulted him with fists several times after he pulled him out of a car.
Prosecutors allege that the complainant was in the company of his friend, Kudakwashe Mahachi.
Hadebe was sitting in the car whilst Mahachi was talking to his sister Meline when Sixpence approached him.
Sixpence is alleged to have said in Ndebele language “liyasijwayela” meaning to say “you undermine us” in English language.
He then assaulted Hadebe with fists several times on the face and also pulled him from the seat.
Sixpence is said to have then snatched the car keys and went into the house and returned them after some time.
Hadebe made a police report leading to the arrest of the accused.
Hadebe sustained no visible injuries and he did not seek any medical attention.

Zimbabwe Warriors and SuperSport winger Kudakwashe Mahachi appeared at the Bulawayo Tredgold Magistrates courts this Tuesday charged with malicious damage to property.
Mahachi ‘s lawyer Nkosiyabo Sibanda confirmed the development but declined to give more details. Said Sibanda in an interview with Newzimbabwe.com:

Mahachi was allegedly in the company of his wife, Rose Mahachi, his friend Zibusiso Hadebe and an unidentified woman when the alleged incident happened in Bulawayo’s Mzilikazi suburb where his sister Meline stays with her husband.
Mahachi’s lawyers have dismissed the allegations as fabrication and malicious.
They argue that the accusations are designed to tarnish their client’s image as a successful international footballer with a desire to end his career.

Kuda Mahachi Appears In Court For Damaging His Sister's Phone

Kudakwashe Mahachi will be jobless in a few weeks’ time after his club, SuperSport United, said that they will not renew his contract which expires on 30 June 2022.
The Warriors striker is currently suspended by SuperSport, who have advised him to attend to the child abuse allegations he is facing and clear his name.
Speaking on South African radio station Power 98.7, SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews said the club will not renew Mahachi’s contract when it expires. He said:

He’s been on suspension, I’ve met with him personally and his lawyer, and we’ve just decided that from our part as a football club this matter is a serious matter, that he needs to go and attend to and see to his family and his priorities.
We suspended him from all football activities at that time, he remained suspended. His contract expires on the 30th of June, so there won’t really be any further action on our part.
We’ve encouraged him to focus on clearing his name and making sure his child gets the best-rehabilitated care possible, given the current situation.

Kuda Mahachi Won't Get New Contract At SuperSport United

Lawyers representing Maritha Ndlovu, the ex-wife of Kudakwashe Mahachi in the assault and maintenance case against the footballer, have threatened to escalate the situation to another level.
The lawyers are contemplating approaching the South African Home Affairs Ministry to have Mahachi’s work permit and citizenship revoked.
Ndlovu has engaged South African law firm Marweshe Attorneys, seeking maintenance for the three children she has with Mahachi.
She also wants the Warriors star to pay damages caused by physical assault from an alleged incident in 2015. The letter, seen by Soccer24, read:
MARITA NDLOVU // KUDAKWASHE MAHACHI //MAINTENANCE OF THREE CHILDREN // ATTEMPTED MURDER CRIMINAL CASE // GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE: LETTER OF DEMAND
1. We refer to the above matter and confirm that we act on behalf of Ms Marita Ndlovu (“Our Client”).
2. It is our instructions that you have failed in paying reasonable maintenance to the three children that you have fathered with our client. The children are Delish Mahachi who is 6 years old and Diego Mahachi who is 4 years old.
3. We are further instructed that on the 19th of June 2019, you coerced our client into entering into some agreement purportedly a maintenance agreement pertaining to your children.
3.1 In terms of this agreement, you committed to pay the sum of R3000. 00 monthly, groceries and accommodation rent. Unless the contrary is proven, the sum encapsulated in the agreement is completely unreasonable and illogical given your income and lifestyle.
4. In particular, we are instructed that:
4.1 On the 29th of May 2015 in a house you lived in with our client, you physically assault our client in front of the children. We point to this particular incident due to the fact that this left our client with a fractured left arm. The injury is still a massive problem for our client to this day as she cannot afford the necessary medical operation.
4.2 We have been furnished with the recordings confirming the incident and medical records that corroborate the allegation of physical abuse, assault and injuries.
4.3 Our client opened a criminal case against you in Zimbabwe for physical abuse. This also is supported by evidence in our position as well.
DEMANDS
5. In the premises, we are instructed to convey the following demands:
5.1 Pay the maintenance henceforth of the sum of R50 000. 00 in respect of the two minor children. The first payment is to be urgently paid within two (2) days of the service of this letter.
5.2 Formulate an undertaking to pay for all the medical expenses and medication in respect of the injuries suffered by our client due to your 
attack and abuse.
5.3 Pay damages for the sum of R2.5 million for the pain and suffering including emotional trauma inter alia.
6. Should you fail to comply with our client’s demand as set out in this letter, our instruction is not limited to the following:
6.1 Petition the Department of Home Affairs to revoke your work permit and or citizenship as your abusive modus operandi infringes on the conditions of such permits inter alia.
6.2 Open a criminal case against you urgently for further investigations, arrest and prosecution.
Ndlovu also accuses Mahachi of scalding one of the children, Diego (4), with boiling water, a matter which is before Zimbabwean courts.

Mahachi is alleged to have deliberately scalded his four-year-old son with hot water in South Africa before he smuggled him to Zimbabwe.
He denies the allegations and has engaged a law firm, Tanaka Law Chambers to clear his name.
In an interview with B-Metro, Mahachi’s lawyer, Nkosiyabo Sibanda, of Tanaka Law Chambers confirmed that his client visited his son. He said:

Yes, we went to Mpilo Hospital yesterday and father and son had a healthy conversation.
The child requested goodies from his father. That is all I can say for now.

Mahachi’s son suffered third-degree burns and is currently admitted to Mpilo Central Hospital where he is receiving treatment.
The footballer, who denies the allegations and maintains that the minor was harmed after he left his custody, has engaged a law firm, Tanaka Law Chambers to clear his name.
B-Metro reported a source as saying Mahachi has been in Zimbabwe for close to a week now but is afraid of appearing in public. Said the source:

He was not going to return home if his club [SuperSport United] had not cleared him.
He was going to leave all matters to his lawyers.
But now he has no choice, in order to save his career, he had to come home and face the music.
But he is very upbeat and believes that he will win the case in court.

Kudakwashe Mahachi faces a possible criminal investigation for gender-based violence (GBV) after he allegedly assaulted his ex-wife Marita Ndlovu and broke her hand.
The footballer, who plays for SuperSport United in South Africa, is also accused of scalding their four-year-old son, Diego Mahachi, with hot water.
Marita has opened a case of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm at Norkem Park police station in Kempton Park.
In her statement to the police, Marita alleged that Mahachi assaulted her and locked her up in the house after accusing her of cheating and lying. She said:

I, Marita Ndlovu hereby submit and supplement my statement regarding the assault case against Kudakwashe Mahachi.
I submit that after the assault, which occurred in Terenure, Kempton Park, where I stayed with Mahachi, I was locked in the house and could not go out or access my cellphone, which he had taken away from me. 
Assault happened because I was accused of lying and cheating on Mahachi who was my husband at the time.

Marita alleged that four days after the assault, Mahachi organised a plane ticket for her and forced her to leave South Africa. She said:

He took me from the home straight to the airport and sent me to Zimbabwe.
Out of desperation, I reported him to the police in Zimbabwe because I intended on taking action against him for assaulting me in the manner that he did.

She said she later withdrew the case after realising the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) did not have jurisdiction to investigate the case because the assault happened in another country.
Speaking to the South African publication, Sunday World, from Zimbabwe, Marita confirmed she opened a case against her ex-husband.
She said the police contacted her to sign the statement but told them she would return to South Africa to sign it after her son’s recovery.
Kuda and Marita’s son is receiving hospital treatment in Zimbabwe for the injuries he sustained when he was scalded.

Mpilo Central Hospital has tightened security around footballer Kudakwashe Mahachi’s four-year-old son, Diego who is receiving treatment for third-degree burns.
Diego has been moved to a more secure bed and guards that man the entrance to the children’s hospital now restrict access to him.
Only “close and trusted relatives” are now allowed to see the child.
Mpilo Central Hospital acting chief executive officer Solwayo Ngwenya confirmed the development. He said:
<blockquote>
The safety of the child is of paramount importance. He suffered terrible and life-threatening injuries.
We don’t know who harmed the child and we thought it’s better to be safe because the person or persons responsible may want to come back and finish the job.
The child is a key witness in his own case and he knows who harmed him. So, we are not taking chances.
Police are still investigating the case and as a hospital, we are just playing our part.

The child’s mother, Maritha Ndlovu, who is Mahachi’s ex-wife said the police has also stopped her from receiving food and drinks from visitors. She said:

At first, we used to get nice food from relatives who are here every day including Mahachi’s sisters who visit daily, and my mother.
But police have since said I must not accept food from anyone because my son is the main witness in his case. They fear that he can be poisoned.
He loves Chicken Inn. If it was up to him, he could eat it every day.
At times he helps me eat the food I buy from the caravans outside the hospital.
Eating together has helped us deepen the bond we already have.

Mpilo Central Hospital reportedly barred people who claimed to be doctors from seeing the child. Maritha added:

The hospital authorities told me that they moved us to another bed for security reasons.
They said there were some people who came, claiming to be doctors and demanded to examine my son.
I am also told some lawyers that were claiming to have been sent by Mahachi wanted to see us. The hospital turned them away.

Mahachi, who is based in South Africa, is alleged to have poured boiling water all over his son’s body before smuggling him back to Zimbabwe.
He, however, says he is innocent and has instead, blames family members and the mother of the child for the boy’s injuries.

SuperSport United winger Kudakwashe Mahachi reportedly tried to conceal his four-year-old son’s burns from his ex-wife Maritha Ndlovu.
B-Metro reported a close relative of Mahachi as saying the South African-based footballer instructed his relatives and the caretaker of his Cowdray Park suburb house not to take him to the hospital.
Upon the child’s arrival in Bulawayo from South Africa, Mahachi allegedly ordered his relatives to keep the boy at his house and give him home treatment.
In an interview with B-Metro, Mahachi’s close relative who did not want to be named in the report said his sisters and the grandmother refused to keep the child at home. Said the relative:

Mahachi did not want the child in hospital. He told the caretaker and his sisters and grandmother not to take him to the hospital.
He said he will provide money for the child to be treated at home.
However, the sisters and the grandmother refused to keep the child at home after the caretaker called them to Cowdray Park.
They called the child’s mother (Maritha Ndlovu) and a decision was made to take the child to the hospital.

Mahachi is said to have been left seething with anger when his son was taken to the hospital. He reportedly sent only US$600 for medical bills. Added the relative:

He felt betrayed and he did not hide his anger. He didn’t want the mother and the world to know what he had done to his son.
But, there is no way they could hide such injuries. The child was going to die in their hands.
This issue has divided the family and Mahachi is no longer in good books with his sisters and grandmother and he is not taking their advice.

Mahachi told B-Metro that he is paying his son’s medical bills but refused to comment further.

Zimbabwean footballer Kudakwashe Mahachi has threatened to sue his ex-wife Maritha Ndlovu for defamation, pain and suffering after she accused him of scalding their four-year-old son with boiling water.
Mahachi has demanded that Ndlovu retracts the interviews she granted the media and apologise to him in writing or else he will sue her for $55 million.
Mahachi and Ndlovu’s son was severely injured when the former allegedly poured boiling hot water all over his body after he had invited the boy to visit him in South Africa.
The minor’s right foot was eventually amputated. He also suffered severe burns on the head and left foot.
Mahachi, through his lawyers Tanaka Law Chambers, wrote and delivered a letter to Maritha, who is with the scalded child at Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo. Part of the letter reads:
<blockquote>
When the minor child returned to Zimbabwe, the minor child was well and was in Zimbabwe for his routine visits.
When you were advised that the minor was in Zimbabwe you visited the minor in the company of a ‘medical doctor’ who began administering the minor medication without having done a proper check-up on the minor child.
You will recall that you and others only advised me of the condition of the minor child after he had reacted negatively to the medication you and others together with this doctor had been administering.
This portion of the story you have deliberately avoided mentioning to the media.
Our client advises us that the medical procedures that were done on the minor child under your guidance were patently not proper as they happened on our client’s property and not a medical facility.
The medical procedure or the injection administered to the minor was done without having been satisfied on whether or not the minor had to take the said injection.
This concluded on the strength that the environment under which this happened was not appropriate.

Mahachi accused Maritha of trying to destroy his career by granting interviews to the media saying this has affected his performance on the field of play.
The SuperSport winger said he is now living in fear as he is experiencing constant vitriolic attacks on social media platforms.
Mahachi concluded by demanding a retraction and a written apology from Maritha that should be published by the media. Read the letter:

In light of all these, we have strict instructions to demand as we hereby do that immediately do the following – retract all the false information you have supplied to the media outlets about our clients within 24 hours of receiving this letter.
The retraction must be publicised in those platforms you supplied the information every day for the coming 14 days and at least two times a day.
Tender an apology in writing to our client upon receipt of this letter. Ensure that the apology is circulated upon media platforms you used to spew the vile against Kudakwashe Mahachi.
If the above demands are not met within the prescribed timelines above, we have strict instructions to sue you for defamation, pain and suffering and so far, we estimate them to be in the tune of 55 million Zimbabwean dollars without any further notice to yourself and you should comply with the above we advise that our client will still reserve the rights to take any further appropriate action.

Meanwhile, Maritha told B-Metro that she was not afraid of being sued and will fight for justice to be done for her son.

Kuda Mahachi Threatens To Sue Ex-wife Maritha Ndlovu

Audio clips of Kudakwashe Mahachi’s son telling his stepmother that her biological mother starves him and strangles and threatens to kill him from time to time have surfaced.
Mahachi’s wife, Rose Mahachi recorded the conversations between her and her four-year-old stepson when he visited his father in South Africa earlier this year.
The boy’s right foot heel was recently amputated after his father, Kuda Mahachi allegedly scalded him with boiling water.
However, the boy’s mother, Maritha Ndlovu, who is Mahachi’s ex-wife, denied the allegations that she occasionally starves, strangles and threatens her son.
Ndlovu told B-Metro that the audio clearly shows that her son was told what to say by his father and stepmother.
She further argued that Mahachi and Rose created the audio in an attempt to paint her as an abusive mother. Ndlovu said:
<blockquote>
What do I benefit from starving my son? Is there any benefit to strangling and threatening him?
Study the audio, listen carefully and you will realise that they were coaching him to say that.
I listened to the audio and I can tell you that it’s not his usual voice.
I can tell you that he was in pain because I know when my son is not well. He had been beaten or something.
If I did that then why am I with him? Why is Mahachi not taking him away from me?
No right-thinking father will allow his child to be abused like that. And no child will allow that to happen to him.
He is four years old but he is old enough to comprehend and reason.
If I am a bad mother then he would want to be with his father.

Ndlovu said that she couldn’t wait for the conclusion of police investigations and Mahachi’s arrest so that he will have his day in court. She said:

If I was such a bad mother, why are they releasing the audio now?
If he really cared, why didn’t he fight for custody of the child?
The truth shall set me free. The law will give me justice.
My son deserves justice and he will get it without fail.
I cannot wait for the day he will be arrested, and my day in court.

Ndlovu told B-Metro that her son told her that his father boiled water using a kettle and intentionally scalded him.
The boy sustained third-degree burns on the head and both feet and his right foot had to be amputated.
Mahachi allegedly hit his son with an iron bar and he lost a tooth and suffered a cut on the forehead.
The boy’s stepmother allegedly whipped his back with a phone charger cable.
After the abuse, Mahachi allegedly smuggled his son to Zimbabwe without getting him medical attention in South Africa.
Meanwhile, Mahachi says the audio proves that his ex-wife is the one who burnt their son.

Zimbabwean international footballer Kudakwashe Mahachi blames his sisters with a close relative for his son’s horrific burns.
In an Asakhane Live video that has since been deleted on Facebook, Mahachi said he was not responsible for his son’s injuries and dismissed claims that he could have hurt him for ritual purposes. Said Mahachi:

People believe what they have read. Firstly, my son’s pictures are circulating. Why are people circulating the pictures when my child is in pain?
Secondly, people say I used my son for money rituals. How can I hurt my son for money rituals?
This thing pains me because no one wants to hear my side of the story. My sisters, know what they did. They know what they injected my son with.
My son left South Africa in one piece, he was okay and he was walking. My sisters know the doctor they used to inject my son and everything.

Mahachi’s sisters, Meline Mahachi and Sinikiwe Sibanda declined to comment when contacted by B-Metro.
Meanwhile, a close relative who spoke on condition of anonymity told the publication that Mahachi’s ex-wife, Maritha Ndlovu, who is the mother of the child, is innocent. Said the relative:

My brother, don’t be fooled. The child was transported from South Africa like that.
If the sisters are to blame then why are they not under arrest? Maritha Ndlovu did not burn her child that is why she is also free.
The sisters, the grandmother and Maritha are all not under investigation because they had nothing to do with the child’s burns.

The relative claimed that Mahachi apparently had something to hide since his son was returned to Zimbabwe by a malayitsha. Said the relative:

Mahachi instructed umalayitsha to deliver the child to his house in Cowdray Park because he didn’t want anyone to know what happened to his son.
It is not true that his child was with his grandmother and that the sisters knew what happened to the child.
No relatives live in that house, only a caretaker and maids.
The child was dumped there and relatives only knew after they were told that the child was in Cowdray Park.

My Sisters Know What They Did To My Son, Says Kuda Mahachi

Warriors forward Kudakwashe Mahachi’s son had his leg amputated after boiling water was poured all over his body.
The boy’s mother, who is Mahachi’s ex-wife claimed that Mahachi burnt his own son when he visited him in South Africa.
Mahachi’s ex-wife, Maritha Ndlovu told B-Metro that their four-year-old son flew to South Africa on 25 February at his invitation.
Maritha said he learnt that her son was getting along well not only with his father but with his stepmother, Rose Mahachi.
She said, however, out of the blue, her calls to Mahachi were no longer going through and her WhatsApp messages were no longer double ticking. She said:

There was no reason for them to block me. I knew something was wrong after I was blocked on WhatsApp and my calls were blacklisted.
</blockquote>
Maritha claimed that on 19 April, her phone rang, on the other end of the call was Mahachi’s grandmother. She said:

She said my son is sick and he is at her house in Cowdray Park. I asked her how is he in Cowdray Park because as far as I knew he was in South Africa and she said he had been in Zimbabwe since last Thursday.
I lost it and asked how come I was not informed that he had been returned, after all, I am his mother.
I told the grandmother that I was going to come to collect him the next day. But she insisted that I drop everything and come see my son.
That made me realise that something was wrong with my son. I was panicking, so I called a relative and we went together to Cowdray Park.
I found my son sleeping and heavily bandaged on the head and I thought it was not that bad.
When I removed the blanket that was covering him, because I wanted to carry him in my arms, I was shocked to find him with burns all over his body.

She said the grandmother had not taken the boy to the hospital but was instead trying to treat him herself.
Maritha also said Mahachi and Rose had somehow found a malayitsha who agreed to smuggle the severely burnt child to Zimbabwe.
She said her son, who had been burnt in South Africa, travelled 863 kilometres on the road, unaccompanied by a medical nurse or a relative. Said Maritha:

The journey from Johannesburg to Bulawayo is about 10 hours and he was alone. What kind of father does that to his son?
Mahachi has money and he can afford to have his son treated in South Africa.
I took my son to a private surgery and they quickly called an ambulance that took him to Mpilo Hospital.
The doctor said taking him to the hospital using any other car was not appropriate, but his father put him in a Quantum bus. How cruel can one be?

Maritha said her son told her how he was burnt while staying with his father and stepmother in South Africa. She said:
<blockquote>
My son is four years old but he is not stupid and he has been talking. He says his father was abusing him.
One of his front teeth is missing after his father hit him with some kind of iron bar and he has an injury on the forehead.
His back is scourged from being whipped with a phone charger cable by his stepmother.
But that is nothing compared to what his father did to him. He told me that his father beat him and then boiled water using a kettle and poured it on him.

Maritha said doctors had to amputate the child’s right foot from the ankle as the foot had been injured beyond repair.
She said the police interviewed her and told her that the case was being handled by the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol).
In a telephone interview with B-Metro, Mahachi denied that he burnt his son or that he was burnt in South Africa. Said Mahachi:

I am the father of the child and I am not aware that he is burnt. As far as I know, I sent him to Zimbabwe in one piece.
Don’t listen to lies. There is nothing like that. My son is okay. My son was not burnt. 
If he was burnt then he was burnt in Zimbabwe, not here in South Africa.

Mahachi’s wife, Rose, also denied that the child was hurt in South Africa. She said:

Kuda Mahachi’s 4-year-old Son's Leg Amputated

Zimbabwe has suffered another setback ahead of the Arica Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals scheduled to start on the 9th of this month after Kuda Mahachi left the pitch injured in a friendly match against Sudan this Sunday.
Petros Mhari was also substituted after showing discomfort after landing awkwardly in the same match. 
The match ended goallessly. Said the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) in an update on the preparatory match:

The second half has just resumed and its still 0-0 Kuda Mahachi left the pitch injured in the first half and he was replaced by Onismor Bhasera Talbert Shumba has come in for Petros Mhari who also showed discomfort after landing awkwardly.

Asked on the state of the injured players, ZIFA said it “will have more after speaking to the team physician.”
