FreeZim Congress leader <a href="https://pindula.co.zw/Joseph_Busha">Joseph Busha</a> has said the US$20 000 nomination fee for presidential candidates set by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) should be increased to US$50 000 so that only people who are serious will run for the presidency, reported <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200012769/us20k-nomination-fee-too-little-freezim-congress">NewsDay</a>.
ZEC pegged fees for presidential candidates at US$20 000 per head and US$1 000 for aspiring MPs ahead of the 23 August harmonised elections.
Speaking during the launch of his presidential bid in Harare on Monday, 12 June, Busha said:
<blockquote>
We don’t want people who want to play with Zimbabweans. Leaders pay all the time for the presidential candidate.
I think we should pay more because we do not want a bloated ballot (paper).
The US$20 000 is little and we need something like US$50 000 so that serious people contest the presidential elections.
</blockquote>
Busha, however, said nomination fees for parliamentary and local government candidates are too high and should be reduced.
The Constitutional Court (ConCourt) on Friday ruled against ZEC’s nomination fees following an application by Devine Mhambi Hove, leader of the opposition National Alliance of Patriotic and Democratic Republicans (NPDR).
Mhambi argued that the fees were too high and contravened provisions of the national Constitution.
The ConCourt gave Parliament seven days to review the fees.

FreeZim Congress Leader Wants Nomination Fee Raised To US$50 000

Lloyd Kasima, Chimanimani District Administrator is reported to have threatened to have Free Zim Congress leader Joseph Busha arrested  for unprocedurally distributing food aid to Cyclone Idai survivors.
Busha, had donated 2000kgs of mealie meal to Chimanimani cyclone survivors without first seeking permission from the DA’s office. A 263Chat source said:
<blockquote>When Busha arrived, he was asked why he had handed over mealie meal without  consulting the DA’s office. Busha urged that he had  he had done so on  humanitarian grounds and had considered that not all  areas where accessible  due to damaged road network.
The DA then said if Busha had been caught in the act (of distributing the food items) he would have been  arrested as he was undermining  protocol. He said Busha would have been in big trouble if he had been caught.</blockquote>
Busha later said protocol must not be important in times of need. He said:
<blockquote>This is a Zanu-PF way of doing things and it scares away those who want to help. This is also an infringement of the right of movement for people as those in need should be allowed to get food assistance from whoever wants to help them.
Why should we go through protocol when we want to help, this opens up chances of politicization of relief aid,.
The biggest challenge about relief aid is there is a lot manipulation. There are people who benefit and are not supposed to benefit and officials don’t really care.</blockquote>
Some villagers in the cyclone affected areas claim that aid rarely reaches them.

Joseph Busha, leader of Freezim Congress has dared President Mnangagwa to prove that his government is capacitated to ameliorate challenges facing the country.
Busha was speaking to NewsDay in Mutare on Friday after donating groceries to Clyclone Idai victims in Chimanimani. He said:
<blockquote>I want Emmerson Mnangagwa to prove that he is leading the best government, they should show why they are the best; they should show to us how many jobs they have created; they should show us by building hospitals and clinics; and they should show by helping improve the living conditions of the Zimbabweans.
My view at the moment is that this government is not different from the old of Robert Mugabe. I believe that nothing is going to change in terms of economy, as long as we have this Zanu PF leading our country.</blockquote>
Busha believes that the current leadership lacks the political will to solve the current crisis facing the country. He added that lack of will resulted in investors and people losing trust in the government.

ED Challenged To Prove His Administration Is Better Than Mugabe's

Speaking to the media in Harare on Friday, the FreeZim Congress leader Joseph Busha vowed to challenge government’s decision to build another parliament building outside Harare.
He said construction of another parliament was not a priority as Zimbabwe is experiencing deepening economic challenges. Busha also said he was soon going to sue government for its plans to privatise some state owned firms. Said Busha:
<blockquote>In January, as a party, we are going to challenge the government through the Constitutional Court, the movement of Parliament from the Central Business District to Mount Hampden. We are also going to challenge privatisation because I believe that privatisation is not the solution because all the companies that are working in Africa from China are all state owned companies and there is nothing wrong with a state owned entity as long as the entity has got the right men and women to take it forward.</blockquote>
