A Mukuru shop at Jerera Growth Point in Zaka was robbed of US$10 058 and ZAR35 000 cash by three armed robbers on Monday.
Police said the three suspects robbed a 20-year-old motorist they had hired on the pretext that they wanted to travel from Jerera Growth Point to Devure Business Centre.
The suspects, who were armed with two pistols, robbed the motorist of a cellphone, US$13 cash and a Toyota Passo vehicle which they later used as a getaway car after robbing a Mukuru shop.
In a statement, police said the stolen vehicle was recovered. Police said:

Police in Masvingo are investigating a case of armed robbery which occurred on 05/12/22 in Zaka.
Three unknown suspects armed with two pistols stole a cellphone, US$13 cash and a Toyota Passo vehicle, registration number AEQ 062 from a motorist (20) they had allegedly hired from Jerera Growth Point, Zaka to Devure Business Centre.
The suspects used the stolen vehicle as a get-away car and pounced at the Mukuru shop at Jererera Growth Point where they stole US$10 058 and ZAR35 000 cash.
The stolen vehicle was recovered. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police station.

Mukuru Shop Robbed Of US$10 000 And ZAR35 000

Health authorities in Zaka District have ordered the closure of an N Richards Wholesale shop after three workers tested positive for coronavirus.
The Zaka District COVID-19 task force has ordered the closure of the N Richard branch at Jerera Growth Point and put all staff under mandatory quarantine for 10 days.
The three employees who have tested positive are self-isolating at home.
The district task force has also started decongesting the growth point, with police accompanied by Environmental Health Officers, deployed there starting this Friday to make sure that the movement of people is limited.
Zaka District Medical Officer Dr Mutero Mupereki today confirmed the closure of the N Richards shop, saying it will only reopen after fumigation of the building and the end of the 10-day quarantine. He said:
<blockquote>We have deployed teams of Environmental Health Officers and police to Jerera as part of efforts to decongestant the growth point beginning today and as I speak now the N Richards shop is closed and fumigation of the building has not yet started.</blockquote>
Jerera Growth Point is Zaka District’s major economic hub and the outbreak of COVID-19 at the business centre comes as cases of the virus have been spiking in Masvingo province.
