Government spokesperson Ndavaningi “Nick” Mangwana has dismissed reports that business premises owned by prominent local businessmen linked to ZANU PF were petrol-bombed by unknown assailants, calling the alleged arson attack “amateurish stunts.”
Several reports have alleged that business premises owned by figures such as Kuda Tagwirei, Wicknell Chivayo, Tino Machakaire, and John Mangudya, the former Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor and current CEO of Mutapa Investment Fund, were attacked with petrol bombs shortly after midnight on Friday.
In a post on X, showing a picture of a charred car allegedly from the crime scene, Mangwana suggested that the assailants had brought an old vehicle and placed it “outside some place” before setting it on fire and fleeing the scene to create fear and confusion. Wrote Mangwana:

Wow, what a mastermind plan! They collect some clunkers, drive them to a spot outside some place, set them ablaze, and then sprint away like lunatics. And the grand strategy behind this “genius move” is… to what? Scare someone? Please. And there are actually people holding their breaths, eagerly awaiting these amateurish stunts? The fire incident occurred approximately 48 hours after war veteran Blessed Geza labelled Tagwirei and Chivayo as “criminals around the president.”

Police have arrested four more people in connection with an armed robbery at Alpha Omega Farm in Marondera, which is owned by the parents of Lucy Muteke, the new wife of businessman Wicknell Chivayo.
The robbers stole over US$74,000, believed to be part of the lobola money Chivayo had paid just a few days earlier.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi on Thursday, 27 March, confirmed the arrests of Temptation Gerald Dinhidza (44), Tawanda Mushawatu (45), Anold Tafireyi (38), and Mike Mhaka (45). He said:

On 25th March 2025, detectives from CID Homicide received information which implicated Temptation Gerald Dinhidza to the robbery incident and that he intended to dispose of a Mercedes Benz C200 vehicle, registration number AEW 5657, which he bought using his share from the loot. 
The detectives tracked Temptation Gerald Dinhidza and arrested him near Seke High School in Chitungwiza.
Further investigations led to the arrest of three other suspects, Tawanda Mushawatu, Anold Tafireyi, and Mike Mhaka. 
The suspects led the detectives to the recovery of USD 1700.00 cash, a 0.455 Smith and Wesson revolver, 20 x 12 Bore live rounds, 23 x 9 mm live rounds and an empty magazine. 
It was established that the suspects bought household goods, motor vehicles, residential stands, building materials and food stuffs using the loot.

Police have caught four more people for stealing money from Chivayo's in-law farm in Zimbabwe. The thieves took $74,000, which was part of the lobola money Chivayo paid recently. The police found one of the suspects trying to sell a car he bought with the stolen money. They also recovered cash, a gun, and bullets. The suspects used the money to buy many things. The police are happy people helped them catch the thieves and want everyone to report crimes to them.

South African mining magnate Patrice Motsepe was re-elected unopposed as President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) at the organisation’s congress in Cairo on Wednesday.
The 63-year-old will serve a second four-year term, after his first term, which was widely praised for stabilising CAF’s finances and enhancing its global profile.
Motsepe, whose family trust owns the Mamelodi Sundowns football club, faced no opposition after the nomination deadline passed in November 2024.
Meanwhile, four-time African Footballer of the Year Samuel Eto’o, president of the Cameroon Football Federation, won a seat on CAF’s executive committee, representing the central African region.
Eto’o’s candidacy was cleared after an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, following his exclusion by CAF’s governance committee in January.
Eto’o had faced two bans last year, including a six-month FIFA ban for verbal abuse at the Under-20 Women’s World Cup and a CAF ban for ethical breaches related to his role as a betting company ambassador. Both bans were later lifted on appeal.
Other executive committee elections saw Mustapha Ishola Raji of Liberia retain his seat for another four years, while new members Bestine Kazadi Ditabala (DR Congo), Wallace Karia (Tanzania), Kurt Simeon-Okraku (Ghana), and Sadi Walid (Algeria) joined the committee.
In a separate vote, Hany Abo Rida (Egypt) and Fouzi Lekjaa (Morocco) retained their seats on the FIFA Council, with Kanizat Ibrahim (Comoros), Hamidou Djibrilla Hima (Niger), Ahmed Yahya (Mauritania), and Souleymane Waberi (Djibouti) elected for the first time.

South Africa's Patrice Motsepe Re-elected Unopposed As CAF President

Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume is facing allegations of using his position to bypass City of Harare by-laws while renovating his luxurious home in Belvedere.
Appearing before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry, appointed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in May 2024 to investigate corruption and mismanagement within the Harare City Council, Director of Housing Edmore Nhekairo raised concerns about the process behind the construction of Mafume’s home.
Nhekairo claimed that the renovation was carried out without applying for a change of use, a necessary procedure when altering the purpose of a property.
During a hearing led by Justice Maphios Cheda, Mafume presented a building plan for his home, which was scrutinized by evidence leader Tapiwa Godzi.
Questions were raised regarding the authenticity of the plan, with some suggesting it might have been fabricated.
According to <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/harare-mayors-controversial-house-an-illegal-structure-violating-regulations-says-city-top-official/">NewZimbabwe.com</a>, Mafume admitted that he had not applied for a change of use from the council, a requirement when converting a property’s designation.
He argued, however, that such an application could be submitted at a later stage, once the building was completed. Mafume said:

When you want to turn it into a boarding house you then apply for the change of use. Normally people apply as they are building. You can start by building. You can use the premise for a living (if not approved).

Mafume said the facility will be used as accommodation for students from the Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) once completed.
However, Nhekairo argued that the failure to apply for a change of use was a clear violation of City Council by-laws.
He also said according to council regulations, one is required to pay application fees for plan approvals, and development fees, and obtain official approval before undertaking any project. Said Nhekairo:

It is the application that must be tendered first with council. You apply to the Department of Planning… The circulation to the district officer, the councillor to ZESA and other utility providers. All those must comment on that application. If the application is favourable then it will be presented to the committee.
If it is rejected, you cannot build. It is not proper (to build before application). It is an illegal development. If that illegal development has occurred someone is given 48 hour notice to ensure the illegality is corrected. You have to dismantle the property so that you can salvage the salvageable materials.

Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume is accused of breaking rules when renovating his fancy house in Belvedere. The Housing Director said Mafume didn't follow the right process and didn't get permission to change how his property is used. Mafume showed a building plan but people doubt if it's real. He admitted he didn't apply for permission yet, but said he can do it later. Mafume plans to house students, but the Council says he broke the rules by not following the proper steps. They say you need to ask for permission and pay money before starting a project.

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) says it will investigate the withdrawal of charges against five City of Harare employees in connection with a US$9 million street lights tender case.
In a statement released on Tuesday, February 4, ZACC said that it had noted the decision by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to drop charges against Town Clerk Hosiah Chisango, Supply Chain Manager Never Murerwa, Principal Accountant Denford Zhungu, Engineering Technician Tawanda Mutenhabundo, and Principal Contracts Administrator Artkins Mandaza. Added ZACC:

The NPA withdrew charges against five accused persons and only indicted Harare City Council Principal Buyer, Jabulani Mukomazi.
ZACC respects the position taken by the NPA and acknowledges that it is the mandate of the prosecuting authority to institute and manage criminal prosecutions in Zimbabwe.
The Commission however, maintains that the accused persons are criminally liable for the fraudulent awarding of the tender and should defend their actions in court.
Accordingly, ZACC is looking into the matter and will be preferring new charges against the five accused persons.

Chisango is among several council officials arrested by ZACC and subsequently released by the courts in an ongoing cycle of “catch and release.”

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission is going to investigate why charges against five City of Harare officials were dropped in a corruption case involving a street lights tender. They will be looking into new charges against the accused persons because they believe they are responsible for the fraud. Even though the National Prosecuting Authority dropped the charges against some of the officials, ZACC thinks they should still be held accountable. This is part of a larger effort to address corruption in Zimbabwe and make sure those responsible are punished. Police are investigating a robbery that occurred on Sunday at a business premise on Bristol Road in Workington, Harare.
As reported by <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200037493/armed-robbers-steal-rapid-response-team-vehicle">NewsDay</a>, three unknown suspects disarmed and attacked a security guard on duty before breaking into the offices.
They used an iron bar and hammer to break a metal safe and stole US$9,000 in cash.
A shootout ensued when a private security company’s rapid response team arrived. The suspects overpowered the team and stole their vehicle.
Police swiftly tracked the stolen vehicle and recovered it in Rugare, Harare.

Police in Bulawayo have arrested two men, Nkiwane Nomzamo (42) and Taurai Alfred (43), in connection with a robbery in which R158,160.00 and US$9,339.00 in cash were stolen from the Bulawayo Central Business District on January 14, 2025.
The suspects were apprehended in Nkulumane, Bulawayo.
Police believe that Alfred, a former security guard at the headquarters of the company that was robbed, provided inside information and masterminded the robbery.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the robbery occurred shortly after the complainant had collected the money from a gaming outlet in Bulawayo and was en route to the company’s headquarters in Harare. Added Commissioner Nyathi:

On 20th January 2025, detectives from CID Homicide, Bulawayo received information which linked the suspects to the robbery incident.
The detectives acted on the information leading to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of ZAR 3 600.00 and USD 40.00 cash.
Investigations by the detectives established that Taurai Alfred who was once a security guard at the gaming company’s headquarters in Harare provided inside information and masterminded the robbery.

Nyathi reiterated the ZRP’s call for companies and individuals to be vigilant and avoid carrying large sums of money.
He also expressed gratitude to the public for providing valuable information that led to the arrest of the suspects.

Two men were arrested for stealing a lot of money in Bulawayo. The suspects were caught in Nkulumane. It is believed that one of the men, who used to work as a security guard, planned the robbery. Two Arrested Over R158 000, US$9 300 Heist

Zimbabwe Football Association presidential aspirant Walter Magaya’s national diploma from the University of South Africa (UNISA) has sparked heated controversy online.
As reported by <a href="https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/prophet-magayas-unisa-diploma-sparks-forgery-scandal/">The South African</a>, the diploma came under scrutiny after Magaya submitted it to the High Court of Zimbabwe to challenge his disqualification from running for ZIFA president.
He was barred from the race for not possessing the required five O’ Level passes but argued that ZIFA’s rules allowed for “any equivalent educational level.”
As evidence, he presented a National Diploma in Marketing, reportedly issued by UNISA in October 2015.
Social media users quickly questioned the authenticity of the document, pointing out inconsistencies in its format, student numbers, and qualification codes.
Outspoken commentator Kudzai Mutisi led the criticism on X (formerly Twitter), providing a detailed analysis of the document’s alleged flaws. Wrote Mutisi:

IT CAN’T BE the Qualification Code for this supposed qualification.
2. The number after the code: 5563732 is the Student Number.
That number can be EASILY VERIFIED. That’s not a Valid Student number at this point in time and it doesn’t belong to the alleged person.
Courts shouldn’t waste time deliberating on clearly questionable qualifications.
3. The Vice Chancellor and Registrar’s Signatures in 2015 didn’t really look like that.
In short, that’s not it… Simple as that.

Social Media Users Doubt Authenticity Of Walter Magaya’s UNISA Diploma

Harare-based self-styled prophet Walter Magaya has introduced a new card that he claims can heal and deliver congregants and other users.
Magaya, the founder and leader of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries (PHD), asserts that those who respect and make sacrifices to obtain the card will greatly benefit from it. He said (<a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/prophet-walter-magaya-launches-miracle-card-he-claims-heals-and-exorcises-evil-spirits/">via NewZimbabwe.com</a>):

I can safely say that the cards are officially launched. They are for you, for your use. It is anointing that you respect that will work for you.
Respect is found in sacrifice, if one comes all the way from Bulawayo to attend a service to get a card, that sacrifice I tell you will get the anointing to work.
If one meditates and takes their time, it will work.
If one takes out money and says this is my seed towards this anointing that anointing will work because you will honour it, and you will respect where your money is.

In the same video, Magaya said the cards he launched are already en route to South Africa, Botswana, and other Western countries based on orders. He said:

Magaya’s career as a church pastor has been marked by numerous controversies.
One instance involved him taking prayer notes from his congregants to Israel, where he was photographed carrying two satchels filled with the prayers.
Magaya allegedly took these satchels to the River Jordan, the site of Jesus Christ’s baptism, and later shared images of himself stuffing letters written by his congregants into a hole in the wall of an old building.
In another instance, Magaya launched a lipstick which he claimed would enhance “certain particulars” in the bodies of those who used it, especially those with low blood sugar levels.
However, in 2019, Magaya faced a backlash and was fined US$700 for claiming to have found a cure for HIV and AIDS.
He presented a plant-based drug called AGUMA as the cure, which was quickly dismissed by the government, leading to his arrest and a forced apology to Zimbabweans.

Tavengwa Zhuwawo (21), from Shackleton, Chinhoyi in Mashonaland West Province, was ordered to pay US$120 or face two months imprisonment by the Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court for theft.
According to a statement from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), on December 9, 2024, at around 1 PM, the complainant parked her vehicle and accidentally dropped her cellphone while getting out. She then proceeded into a supermarket.
Zhuwawo was captured on CCTV picking up the complainant’s cellphone. When the complainant realised her cellphone was missing, she sought help from the supermarket’s security officers, who advised her to make a police report.
Police investigations, aided by CCTV footage, revealed that Zhuwawo had picked up the cellphone. It was later recovered at Zhuwawo’s residence.

A guy named Tavengwa was caught stealing a phone from someone's car and was caught on camera. The person left their phone by accident and the thief picked it up. The police used the CCTV footage to find the thief and get the phone back. The thief had to pay money or go to jail for two months. The person was lucky the police could catch the thief with the help of the camera.

The government has increased the retirement age for civil servants with effect from January 01, 2025. Previously, members of the civil service were required to retire from the civil service at 65. Now, they can retire at 70.
These changes are detailed in Statutory Instrument 197 of 2024, which is cited as the Public Service (Amendment) Regulations, 2024 (No. 3). The regulations state:

2. These regulations shall come into effect on the 1st January, 2025.
3. The Public Service Regulations, 1992, published in Statutory Instrument 1 of 2000, are amended by the repeal of sections 17 and 18 and the substitution of-
“Pensionable age, retirement and mandatory retirement

17. (1) Subject to section 18, a member appointed on pensionable terms of service-
<blockquote>
(a) before the effective date, may have a pensionable age of sixty-five years with option to retire at seventy- years on full pension:
Provided that any retirement after the year of sixty-fifth anniversary and before the seventieth anniversary shall be deemed to be early retirement;
or
(b) on or after the effective date, shall have a pensionable age of seventy years.
(2) A member’s pensionable age shall be recorded on the member’s record of employment for pension purposes.
(3) The Paymaster shall, on the 1st June each year, provide all heads of Ministry or department with a list of members who will reach the age of sixty, sixty-five or seventy years during the ensuing year.
Retirement before reaching pensionable age
18. (1) A member may, on giving three months’ notice of retirement, be permitted by the Commission to retire before pensionable age at any time after attaining the age of sixty.
(2) The Commission may, on giving the equivalent appropriate period of notice prescribed under section 15(2) for the resignation of a member, require a member to retire on or after the date on which such member attains the age of sixty:
Provided that a member who having been a member on pensionable conditions of service immediately before the effective date, has had continuous service as such member since that date, may not be required in terms of this subsection to retire before attaining the age of seventy years.”

The government has decided to let people working for the government retire at the age of 70 instead of 65 from January 1, 2025. This change is explained in the Public Service (Amendment) Regulations, 2024 (No. 3). Before this, civil servants needed to retire at 65, but now they have the option to work until they turn 70. This change was made with input from the Minister of Finance, Economic Development, and Investment Promotion, as well as the Minister of Public Service, Labour, and Social Welfare.

Government Raises Civil Service Retirement Age From 65 To 70

A 40-year-old Harare man, Felix Togaraseyi Magureyi, forced entry to State House two days before Christmas, demanding to see President Emmerson Mnangagwa. This is the second time Magureyi has done so within a few months, <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200036451/security-foils-mans-state-house-invasion-bid">reported NewsDay</a>.
In May this year, Magureyi allegedly stormed State House armed with various weapons, including a sjambok, claiming Mnangagwa was his father.
He appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court on Tuesday, facing a charge of trespassing after his latest attempt to force entry on December 23. He was remanded in custody until January 7 next year.
The court heard that on December 23, 2024, at about 1 PM, Magureyi drove a Toyota Hilux Raider, registration number AFU 0592, to State House, Harare.
Upon arrival, he parked at the visitor’s entrance and confronted police officers, demanding to see Mnangagwa. It was not stated why he wanted to see the President.
Magureyi allegedly forced entry to the premises after overpowering a police officer, leading to his arrest. 
Prosecutors said there were witnesses who saw the accused committing the offence, and Magureyi was also captured on video, which will be produced in court as evidence.
On May 7 this year, Magureyi was arrested after a similar attempt to force entry at State House, demanding to see the President.
According to the State, he drove the same vehicle and approached a police officer at the entrance, claiming Mnangagwa was his father before forcing his way in. 
Police recovered an unknown pistol magazine, four rounds of ammunition, a hand-held Boafeng communication radio, a burnt bulb extract, a bunch of keys, a sjambok, and a toy firearm from his vehicle.

A 40-year-old man named Felix tried to see President Mnangagwa at State House twice - once in May and again in December. He went there with weapons and claimed the president is his father. He was arrested and will go to court in January for trespassing. Felix forced his way into State House and was captured on video. He had weapons in his car. This is not the first time he has tried to see the President at State House. Felix is in trouble now.

40-year-old Man Breaks Into State House Twice Claiming Mnangagwa Is His Father

The Zambia Police Service (ZPS) has arrested two men accused of being “witchdoctors” tasked with bewitching the country’s president, according to a <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/clyx9x98v4zo">BBC report</a>. The suspects, Jasten Mabulesse Candunde and Leonard Phiri, were arrested in Lusaka.
“Their purported mission was to use charms to harm” President Hakainde Hichilema, stated the police on Friday.
The police alleged that Candunde and Phiri were hired by Nelson Banda, the younger brother of MP Emmanuel “Jay Jay” Banda.
Emmanuel Banda was reportedly arrested last month in Zimbabwe over robbery charges, which he denies. He has not been seen in public since and is also accused of escaping custody in August while awaiting a court appearance.
The opposition Patriotic Front (PF) party, led by former President Edgar Lungu, claims these charges are politically motivated.
Emmanuel Banda, an independent MP since 2021, was previously associated with Lungu, who lost the presidency to Hichilema that year.

Two Zambian "Witchdoctors" Arrested In Alleged Plot To Bewitch President Hichilema

Three men were arrested at an abattoir in Belmont, Bulawayo, on Tuesday, December 17, in connection with a suspected stock theft case.
The ZRP confirmed that Trust Mpofu (37), Prince Dube (40), and Mthuthukisi Msizi (31) were detained after presenting a forged stock clearance form to the police at the abattoir for the cattle to be slaughtered.
The trio’s arrest led to the recovery of 11 cattle with foreign brand marks, prompting suspicions that the animals were stolen from outside the country.
The truck used to transport the stolen cattle, a UD 60 with registration number AFK4503, was impounded by the police.

Cross-boarder Stocktheft Lands Three Bulawayo Men In Trouble

Timothy Chiminya, the self-styled King Munhumutapa, has been arrested and charged with undermining the authority of or insulting President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Chiminya was apprehended by police officers on December 16, accused of unlawfully appointing Chiefs, a task reserved for the Head of State and Government, thereby causing ridicule to President Mnangagwa.
Chiminya, represented by Gift Mtisi of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), is also accused of dethroning some Chiefs in various parts of Zimbabwe who were legitimately appointed by President Mnangagwa.
He appeared before Harare Magistrate Sheunesu Matowa on December 18 and was remanded in custody until January 7, 2025, to allow two medical doctors to conduct a mental health evaluation on him, as requested by prosecutors.
The title Munhumutapa (or Mwenemutapa) was used by the rulers of the Kingdom of Mutapa, also known as the Mutapa Empire.
This kingdom, which existed from around 1430 to 1760, was located in what is now Zimbabwe and expanded into parts of Mozambique, Botswana, Malawi, and Zambia.
The title Munhumutapa means “he who conquers” or “owner of the conquered land,” reflecting the kingdom’s expansionist nature.

Munhumutapa Arrested, Charged With Undermining Authority Of President Mnangagwa

The Welshman Ncube-led Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has slammed disputed interim secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu for removing several party leaders from key positions in Parliament, replacing them with legislators more aligned with his interests.
Tshabangu recently dismissed Lynette Karenyi Kore as the Leader of the House in the National Assembly, appointing Maureen Kademaunga, the Sunningdale legislator, as her replacement. Former chief whip Edwin Mushoriwa was also removed in the reshuffle.
In an interview with <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200036038/ccc-mps-paying-tshabangu-for-posts">NewsDay</a> on Sunday, CCC spokesperson Willas Madzimure said the party did not support the reshuffle orchestrated by Tshabangu. He said:

It is not necessary, but because someone wants to flex their muscles, they make those unilateral decisions. We did not get any reason why those people were demoted.
There are other serious and pressing issues that we should be focusing on, not this child’s play. I thought some of the people appointed to these positions must use common sense.

But is it humane to keep your colleague on edge in Parliament? Every time there is a letter read in Parliament, you will be thinking, it might be me who is being targeted this time.
You might have power now, notwithstanding how you got that power, but we are all human. We are not immortal.

Madzimure also condemned Tshabangu’s recalls of CCC MPs and councillors shortly after the 2023 general elections, warning him that power is temporary. Said Madzimure:

It is disheartening for people who worked hard to be in Parliament only to be recalled. Yes, some might have been selected through the controversial “bereka mwana” process, but they worked hard to win the votes.
They used their resources. In the end, that power will be gone no matter who is celebrating that abuse of power. I was recalled twice.
I know how it feels, but that will not stop me from talking against what is bad. Why punish all these legislators? That is what we despise ZANU PF for, so you cannot be doing the same.

Tshabangu and Ncube have been embroiled in a power struggle over control of funds allocated under the Political Parties Finance Act, along with other contentious issues.

In the first six months after the 2023 general elections, Tshabangu recalled dozens of CCC MPs and councillors, asserting that they were no longer party members.

Tshabangu Faces Backlash Over Parliamentary Reshuffle

Outspoken former Mt Pleasant MP, Fadzayi Mahere, has criticized the act of gifting cars to music artists, calling it an insult.
She argued that in a properly functioning economy, these artists should be able to afford top-of-the-range vehicles on their own, rather than relying on such gestures of generosity.
Mahere’s comments follow Wicknell Chivayo’s recent gifts of Toyota Fortuners to iconic musicians Mai Charamba, Leonard Zhakata, and Mechanic Manyeruke on Monday.
In a post on X, Mahere opined that if Zimbabwe had a thriving economy, artists would be able to walk into a dealership and purchase luxury cars at their discretion.
She said a Toyota Fortuner is a common vehicle—one that even ordinary citizens might drive—and should not be considered an appropriate gift for the country’s most prominent celebrities. Said Mahere:

The larger point is that the economy is so bad that most of our iconic artists and celebrities are reduced to basket cases who are unable to make enough money out of music that they have to take petty donations.

With respect, a Fortuner is not the car we expect our biggest celebrities to be driving. It is an ordinary vehicle that common citizens like you or I can maybe drive.
Just look at South African artists in the league of ours and ask yourself whether they’d be seen driving a Fortuner, let alone accepting a donation of one?
This moment tells an important story about the state of Zimbabwe’s economy and the health of the arts industry. Both are comatose as a consequence of bad governance.

Mahere said the ruling elite wants to keep Zimbabweans in a state of perpetual poverty, ensuring that people remain dependent on them for handouts and unable to achieve true financial independence. She said:

We can all see what’s happening here. “They” want everyone to be poor so that “they” bail everyone out and ensure everyone is beholden to them for these handouts. It’s not right.
Some of these names have been at the core of the culture for more than a generation. Their hits are embedded in our lives. We know the words. We love their music. And we love them.
Why should they be disrespected like this? Where is the dignity in being an artist if that is what one is eventually reduced to?
Why must an artist be at the mercy of politicians in order to survive? What if they want to be apolitical?
What if they want to sing about a societal issue that may offend the politicians? Will they have the freedom to do so?
What impact does this economic destruction have on artistic freedom which is constitutionally protected?
Why can’t an artist thrive on their art?

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has identified the suspects in a viral video showing the brutal assault of two minors in the Madziwa area of Mashonaland Central Province.
ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrests of Theresa Kavhuta (53), Sabina Mucherahowa (37), Bridget Tshuma (28), and Leopold Tom (30) in connection with the incident.
He also revealed that the assault, involving two minors aged 8 and 11, occurred on November 20, 2024, at Muchenje Village, Mutumba, Madziwa. Said Commissioner Nyathi:

In the video, the man orders two boys to remove their shorts before mercilessly assaulting them on their buttocks with a log. Despite the boys’ pleas for mercy, he continues to strike them as they writhe in pain on the ground.
At one point, a visibly pregnant woman rushes in with a switch, intending to join the assault, but she is restrained by onlookers.
What is particularly troubling is that several witnesses at the homestead did nothing to intervene during the brutal attack. Instead, some can be heard in the background cheering and laughing.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Nyathi did not reveal the relationship between the assailants and the victims, neither did he explain what may have prompted the assault.

ZRP Arrests Four Suspects In Viral Video Of Brutal Assault On Minors In Madziwa

President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s spokesman, George Charamba, said that musician Chief Hwenje, born Admire Sanyanga Sibanda, will be sent to South Africa for treatment following a recent diagnosis of lymphoma, a type of blood cancer that affects the lymphatic and immune systems.
Chief Hwenje has retreated to his rural home in Shanyura village, Mapanzure, in the Midlands Province, as he battles a painful and difficult health crisis.
In a recent interview with <a href="https://www.sundaymail.co.zw/bombshell-chief-hwenje-down-with-cancer-album-release-postponed">The Sunday Mail</a>, Chief Hwenje revealed the extent of his suffering. He described how the pain has become almost unbearable, to the point where he sometimes struggles to walk or even speak.
In response to an X user named Twinsisters, who wished Chief Hwenje a speedy recovery, Charamba, using one of his multiple accounts under the name Jamwanda, stated, “He will be fine. He is leaving for SA for treatment.”
Commenting on Charamba’s response, journalist and government critic Hopewell Chin’ono remarked that this illustrates how ZANU PF prioritises its own members while ordinary Zimbabweans are left to die at home. Wrote Chin’ono:

[Charamba] is talking about a Zimbabwean ZANUPF singer who has composed songs mocking anyone demanding accountability.
This singer, called Chief Hwenje, was diagnosed with cancer. Zimbabwe has not had radiotherapy cancer treatment machines for three years, and the health delivery system is in ruins.
Charamba tells his supporters that the ZANU PF singer is being flown to South Africa for treatment. The irony is tragic.
They have destroyed the public health system through the looting of public funds. When one of their own gets sick, they take them to South Africa.
What about YOU, who is not a ZANUPF singer? What about everyone else, as ordinary as they are Zimbabwean?
Ordinary Zimbabweans are simply dying in their homes without treatment because the health system collapsed years ago.
Those who survive are the ones fortunate enough to cross the border into South Africa to seek healthcare. This is what ZANUPF has delivered to Zimbabweans! 
They are not even embarrassed to say publicly that they go to South Africa for treatment instead of fixing the public healthcare system so that everyone can have access to healthcare!

Mnangagwa's Spokesman Says Chief Hwenje Set For Cancer Treatment In South Africa

One of the largest political parties in Namibia, the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popular_Democratic_Movement">Popular Democratic Movement</a> (PDM), has objected to the appointment of Wicknell Chivayo linked company, Ren-Form.
Ren-form reportedly won a tender worth US $60 million from the Namibian government to supply election materials. The Namibian election is on the 27th of November.
The same company won a tender in Zimbabwe to supply the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission with election material last year. However, it was later revealed the process may have been corrupt with allegations that Wicknell Chivayo used the company to <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/2024/06/14/south-african-firm-linked-to-chivayo-charged-zec-us1-2-million-for-a-server-worth-us4-000/">overcharge ZEC</a> in return for kickbacks to himself, colleagues and some ZEC officials. The revelations came out <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/2024/06/21/wicknell-chivayo-will-be-forgiven-but-his-colleagues-will-suffer-says-mzembi/">following disagreements over the distribution of kickbacks</a>.
Responding to the news of Renf-form winning a tender in Namibia, PDM party leader McHenry Venaani urged Namibians to march with him next week in protest. Said Venaani:

I want to alert the nation that we have given notice to the Inspector General of Police, that we are going to have a march on Tuesday to protect our democracy. To reject with the contempt it deserves, what the Electoral Commission of Namibia and its shenanigans wants to do, by inviting a company that is embroiled in international corruption in Zimbabwe and South Africa, importing their corrupt activities that they practiced during the failed Zimbabwe elections into Namibia. 
We are calling upon the ECN to desist from having this company.

The PDM has also posted a letter its lawyers sent to the ECN, which said in part:

Given the exploits of Mr Chivhayo and his alleged connections to corrupt dealings as reported in the media our client is concerned that the integrity and credibility of the election process in the Presidential and National Elections would be undermined and tainted by the appointment of the supplier. 
Therefore, our client shall take such steps it may deem necessary should your offices proceed to utilise the intended supplier.

While confirming the awarding of the tender to Ren-form, the ECN has said the tender value quoted in the media is incorrect and that a rigorous process went into selecting the company:

The decision to award the contract to Ren-Form CC was made following a thorough and rigorous evaluation process that adhered to the laws governing procurement. Factors considered included compliance with technical requirements, cost-effectiveness, reliability, and the ability to meet strict timelines. To be clear and set the record straight: the total cost of this contract is N$6,250,686—far from the grossly inflated and fictitious figure of N$1 billion being circulated in certain media reports.

The Popular Democratic Movement in Namibia is mad because a company linked to Wicknell Chivayo got a contract to supply election materials. This company also got in trouble for shady dealings in Zimbabwe. Namibian Opposition Objects Appointment of Wicknell Linked Company In Supply Election Materials

The State has withdrawn murder charges against Obert Masaraure and Robson Chere, leaders of the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) before a plea was entered. This comes after nearly eight years of delays, during which the trial failed to commence.
Masaraure (pictured) serves as the president of ARTUZ, while Chere holds the position of secretary-general.
Masaraure, represented by lawyer Doug Coltart, appeared before Harare resident magistrate Dennis Mangosi on Friday, November 11.
Allegations were that on June 11, 2016, at around 10 PM, Masaraure and his accomplices, who remain at large, were in the company of the now-deceased Roy Issa at the Quill Club in the Ambassador Hotel, where they were drinking.
Allegedly, they left the club about 30 minutes later and proceeded to the Cresta Jameson Hotel, where Issa, a youth activist and member of ARTUZ, ultimately died.
In court, prosecutors claimed that Masaraure and Chere, along with four unnamed accomplices, engaged in a drinking spree in Harare with Issa. 
Following a misunderstanding, they reportedly ganged up on him and assaulted him in the head with unknown weapons, leading to his death.
Prosecutors further alleged that the accused attempted to conceal the crime by falsely claiming that Issa fell from the balcony of Jameson Hotel, resulting in his death.

The Group J 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) matchday 4 qualifier between Namibia and Zimbabwe on 10 October at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, will be played behind closed doors.
This was confirmed by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) in a statement on Monday, October 7.
ZIFA said that Namibia, the home team for the first of two back-two-back matches, requested that the game be played without fans in attendance. ZIFA said:

A 23-year-old man from Kwekwe appeared before the Gweru Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, facing allegations of rape.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the accused and the complainant are not related. Said the NPA:

Allegations are that some time in September 2024 at around 1500 hours the accused person dragged the 10 year old girl into an unfinished building where he told her that he wanted to have sexual relations with her.
He allegedly threatened to kill her if she screamed or told anyone. He then removed her clothes before allegedly raping her. The accused person only stopped when he heard a voice calling the complainant’s name.
On the 14th of September 2024 at around 2000 hours the accused person cut off his manhood with a knife whilst screaming that the complainant was his wife.
The matter came to light when the complainant confided in her grandmother about the offence.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) requested that the accused undergo examinations by two doctors under the Mental Health Act, and this application was granted.
The accused is currently remanded from a hospital bed in Gweru, where he is receiving medical attention. He is scheduled to appear before the court again on October 8, 2024.

Kwekwe Man (23) Rapes 10-Year-Old, Then Cuts Off His Manhood

Grade 3 pupils at Lukanyiso Primary School in Mpopoma, Bulawayo, have been attending classes alongside a coffin for the past three years, reported <a href="https://www.sundaynews.co.zw/byo-school-forces-grade-3-pupils-to-learn-with-coffin/">The Sunday News</a>.
The coffin was reportedly created by teachers as part of a project three years ago. During a recent visit to the school, local councillor Donaldson Mabuto was alerted by concerned residents who said the presence of a coffin in the classroom was unsettling for learners. Said Mabuto:

This is totally against our moral credentials and for learners to be exposed to the mere sight of a coffin in a classroom when they are learning at a very young age is not proper according to our culture and according to the upbringing of our children in schools.
This also attracts a bad omen even to the school. As the local councillor, I am not happy at all, whoever initiated this project four years back has to be brought to book.
I was only alerted today by some of the school authorities. I went there to see it personally and I have instructed them to urgently call a parents meeting to deliberate on this.
This is unacceptable. Our children deserve better than to be subjected to such an environment. I will be engaging with the school authorities and the local education department to ensure this coffin is removed and to address the broader issues affecting the school.

Speaking to The Sunday News, a concerned parent questioned why the coffin has remained in the classroom and why no action has been taken to remove it. Said the parent:

It’s not just inappropriate; it’s disturbing for the children to see that every day. They should be learning in a safe and conducive environment.

Bulawayo School's Grade 3 Pupils Forced To Study Next To Coffin For Years

The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) has urged residents living near game parks to refrain from moving about at night due to the risk of wild animal attacks.
This warning follows the tragic death of 47-year-old Scorch Gawa, a resident of Kariba, who was trampled by an elephant in Batonga on Wednesday night.
Reports indicate that Gawa was attacked while returning home after a night of drinking.
Zimparks spokesperson Tinashe Farawo confirmed the incident to <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200031640/kariba-man-trampled-to-death-by-elephant">NewsDay</a>, advising that people should avoid travelling at night, as wild animals are also active during those hours. He said:

Yes, we can confirm an incident where a man was trampled to death by an elephant in Kariba. We discourage people from moving at night because animals usually move during the night.
</blockquote>
It is estimated that over 200,000 elephants inhabit a conservation area spanning five southern African countries—Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Angola, and Namibia—making the region home to one of the largest elephant populations in the world.
This week, Namibia announced plans to cull 723 wild animals, including 83 elephants, and distribute the meat to people struggling to access food due to the El Niño-induced drought.
The animals to be culled include 30 Hippos, 60 buffalos, 50 impalas, 100 blue Wilderbeast, 300 Zebras, 83 elephants and 100 elands.

Kariba Man Killed By An Elephant, Zimparks Warns Residents To Avoid Night Travel

A Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) councillor in Bulawayo has been granted bail of US$100 after nearly a month in detention.
Bulawayo Mayor David Coltart attended the court proceedings last week to support Councillor Bruce Moyo, who represents Nkulumane Ward 22.
Coltart revealed that Moyo’s legal team had submitted a bail application to the High Court after the magistrate’s court denied his initial request.
According to the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), Moyo was arrested for allegedly organising an anti-government protest before the 44th Ordinary SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government, held in Harare on August 17, 2024.
Moyo was charged with incitement to public violence.
He was represented by Tinashe Runganga of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR).
As part of his bail conditions, Moyo was ordered to report at Bulawayo Central Police Station once every week.
Moyo is among numerous opposition activists and rights defenders detained by police since June in connection with the summit.
In a separate case, eight of twelve Gokwe villagers arrested approximately two weeks ago for participating in an anti-government demonstration were denied bail on Monday.
Magistrate Honest Musiyiwa ruled against granting bail, citing concerns that the accused might interfere with witnesses.
He also said that one suspect, Gift Chuma, remains at large and that investigations are still ongoing.

A councillor from CCC in Bulawayo named Bruce Moyo was granted bail of US$100 after being in jail for almost a month. He was arrested for allegedly organizing an anti-government protest. The mayor, David Coltart, supported Moyo during the court proceedings. Many opposition activists have been detained by police since June in connection with the protest. Eight villagers from Gokwe were also arrested for a demonstration and were denied bail because of concerns about interfering with witnesses. Investigations are still ongoing in this case.

CCC Councillor, Bruce Moyo, Granted US$100 Bail

Timothy Chiminya, who has proclaimed himself as the rightful King Munhumutapa, has officially notified the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, as well as the Zimbabwe Chiefs Council, that all traditional leaders, including spirit mediums, now fall under his authority.
Chiminya is currently embroiled in a legal dispute with the Ministries of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, and Local Government, who are challenging his claim to the Munhumutapa kingship.
In his argument, Chiminya contends that the ruling ZANU PF party acknowledged him as King Munhumutapa by involving him in performing rituals for the party.
In July 2024, Chiminya presided over the installation of Johnsias Mugomeri as Paramount Chief Goredema in Gokwe, further asserting his self-proclaimed authority.
Most recently, Chiminya has written to Chiefs Council President Khumalo, informing him that all traditional leaders in Zimbabwe now fall under Chiminya’s Munhumutapa kingship.
He has cited a High Court judgment from September 2022 that he claims validates his royal claims. Said Chiminya:

I am writing to inform you about the recent High Court order ruling stating that all the chiefs will now come under King Munhumutapa after the High Court judgment, where Timothy Chiminya (King Muhumutapa) won the case in September 2022.
All chiefs must be accredited by King Munhumutapa and the King will have the final say towards the chiefs, headmen and sabhukus (village heads). All traditions, rituals and spirit mediums must fall under King Munhumutapa.
In the interest of unity, peace and cooperation among all the chiefs in Zimbabwe, we are asking that your office may also cooperate and respect the High Court judgment.
It is important that we work together towards a common goal and put all our differences aside for the greater good of our people.
I urge you to embrace this new arrangement and work with King Munhumutapa towards building a strong and prosperous future for all our people.
</blockquote>
He copied his letter to ZANU PF, the Office of the President and Cabinet and other ministries.
However, when contacted for comment by <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200031374/king-munhumutapa-strikes-demands-chiefs-allegiance">NewsDay</a>, the President of the Chiefs’ Council dismissed Chiminya’s directive, scoffing at the self-proclaimed king’s attempt to assert authority over traditional leaders. He said:

The Constitution of Zimbabwe does not have a king’s provision since it has not been amended on such
We do not need to talk to him. It’s just a person enjoying media attention.
I do not see the Constitution amended to that effect to suit his interest in my lifetime. He proclaimed himself as king and it boggles the mind for him to expect us to go to him and say he must rule us.

On August 19, 2024, Chiminya, wrote to the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works demanding payment of his outstanding wages and allowances.
In his letter, Chiminya claimed that the High Court had made a ruling in his favour regarding this matter on September 28, 2022. He stated that to date, he had not received any of the owed payments. He wrote:

I am writing to demand that the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works take immediate action to pay me, Timothy Chiminya, my outstanding wages and allowances as per order case number HC3981/22.
The order was granted in Harare on September 28, 2022. Until now, nothing has been paid yet.
Failure to comply within 14 days from the date you receive this letter will result in us taking further legal action.

In her judgment, Justice Priscilla Manongwa-Munangati ordered the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works to pay Chiminya his outstanding wages and allowances as the self-proclaimed ‘King Munhumutapa’.
It is worth noting that the historical King Munhumutapa, also known as Mwenemutapa, was a powerful ruler of the Mutapa Empire – a medieval kingdom that existed in what is now modern-day Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
The Mutapa Empire reached its peak in the 15th and 16th centuries but began to decline as the Rozvi Empire, ruled by the Changamire Dynasty, emerged in the region.

"King Munhumutapa" Demands Chiefs, Headmen, Village Heads' Allegiance

A church building belonging to controversial South African preacher Pastor Mboro, whose real name is Paseka Motsoeneng, was set on fire on Tuesday.
According to <a href="https://www.news24.com/news24/southafrica/news/watch-pastor-mboros-church-torched-in-katlehong-20240806">News24</a>, the church, known as Incredible Happenings, located just behind the Katlehong North police station, was also looted shortly before it was set alight.
Several pupils in school uniforms were seen running from the burning church and law enforcement officers were present but did not intervene.
Pastor Mboro was reportedly among four people who were arrested after a group of knife-wielding men intimidated teachers at a Katlehong school on Monday.
According to the Gauteng education department, in a series of shocking videos that have gone viral on social media, Motsoeneng is seen wielding machetes and threatening to attack teachers on the school premises.
<a href="https://www.iol.co.za/news/crime-and-courts/pastor-mboro-believed-to-be-among-four-arrested-following-panga-attack-at-katlehong-school-9eb77464-be80-46fa-9b90-2a8563ab9e28">IOL</a> quoted Gauteng provincial education MEC Matome Chiloane, as saying:

Disturbingly, another man is seen grabbing two learners, who were caught in the crossfire of this violent ordeal, while another is wielding an assault rifle.
</blockquote>
The department said that there had been a conflict between two families over the custody of boy learners enrolled at the school, in Grade RR and Grade 2.
It is alleged that the mother of the children passed away in April this year, leading to a dispute between the paternal and maternal sides of the family.
On Monday, the children’s father and the maternal grandmother, who is the alleged guardian of the children, met with the principal separately.
During the meeting, the grandmother reportedly told the principal that a conflict had occurred during a meeting held over the past weekend at the house of the paternal grandfather, that is Pastor Mboro. Reads the statement from the department:

Following this, the deputy principal and some staff members refused to release the children without the grandmother’s permission. This led to the pastor arriving at the school with bodyguards and weapons.
The incident unfolded on Monday afternoon after school when the father of the children came to fetch them, accompanied by two men, one of them being the pastor — who was armed with two pangas while the other carried an assault rifle.
Teachers, acting on the alleged instructions from the grandmother, tried to prevent the father from leaving the school premises with the children.
In response, the pastor brandished a panga threateningly at the teachers, allowing the father to leave with the children.

Explaining himself in the audio recording during a conversation between himself, the police, a ward councillor and the school staff at Katlehong North police station, Mboro said his son had gone to the school to pick up his children but was blocked by teachers.
He also alleged the teachers locked up and beat his son up. He said:
<blockquote>
They were throwing stones at my son and while they were kicking him, I ran to fetch the panga.
If you know that your child is locked up and is being beaten, you go fetch a panga because you don’t want your son to use a firearm because once you use a firearm there will be a pointing case. I am ready to die for my son.

Gauteng police spokesperson, Colonel Noxolo Kweza, confirmed that the four were expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon. Said Kweza:

They are facing a variety of charges including assault, handling a firearm recklessly that could endanger lives and property, rendering security services while not registered, malicious damage to property and intimidation.
</blockquote>
Kweza said the replica firearm and the pangas have since been confiscated.

A church belonging to Pastor Mboro in South Africa was burned by kids. The church was also looted before being set on fire. Pastor Mboro was arrested after a knife attack by men at a school. There was a conflict between families over children's custody due to their mother's death. The father and grandmother of the kids met separately with the school principal. The pastor arrived at the school with weapons after a dispute. Pastor Mboro claimed he acted to protect his son. He and three others are facing charges, including assault and intimidation.

SA: Pastor Mboro's Church Set On Fire By Schoolchildren

Opposition leader Nelson Chamisa has strongly condemned the arrest of opposition activists and pro-democracy campaigners, saying the ZANU PF-led government’s repression is tarnishing the country’s image.
Chamisa described Zimbabwe as “the sickness of SADC,” criticizing the government’s intolerance of alternative voices, which he deemed a national embarrassment for the country.
Furthermore, Chamisa demanded the immediate release of more than 70 Citizens’ Coalition for Change activists who were arrested in Harare’s Avondale suburb on June 16 while commemorating the Day of the African Child. Chamisa wrote on X:

ZIMBABWE IS THE SICKNESS OF SADC…Toxic oppressive politics tarnishes the image of a country. In the whole of SADC and in Africa, Zimbabwe is leading for the wrong reasons and is notorious for intolerance and repressive politics. This is so embarrassing and must stop. Stop this nonsense. What a national shame! Release these political prisoners! Be blessed family.

On Wednesday, four local pro-democracy activists – Namatai Kwekweza, Robson Chere, Samuel Gwenzi, and Vusumuzi Moyo – were reportedly pulled off a Victoria Falls-bound plane at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.
Following their abduction, the activists were allegedly subjected to torture.
Prominent lawyer and director of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, Roselyn Hanzi said:

After talking to Namatai Kwekweza, I just want to restate that torture is part of customary international law. It is a crime under international law.
Perpetrators of torture should be weary of travelling beyond Zimbabwe’s borders. There is universal jurisdiction for torture.
All four were tortured Robson Chere (severely), @cdegwenzi &amp; Vusumuzi Moyo. @ZLHRLawyers hoping they appear in court today.

The ZLHR said the four were in “incommunicado” detention for at least eight hours after they were seized by state agents.

Zimbabwe Is "The Sickness Of SADC", Says Chamisa

ZANU PF Youth League Political Commissar Taurai Kandishaya has criticised the party’s spokesperson, Christopher Mutsvangwa for saying Vice President Constantino Chiwenga was not ordained successor to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, reported <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/zanu-pf-youth-league-slams-mutsvangwa-over-chiwenga-diatribe/">ZimLive</a>.
Mutsvangwa was quoted by a weekly publication over the weekend saying there was no pact or agreement between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga for the latter’s ascension to the presidency.
Mutsvangwa also said Mnangagwa does not have the power to unilaterally endorse a preferred candidate to succeed him when his current term expires in 2028. He said:

ZANU PF is not a church where people can be anointed, and the president is not the Pope or the Archbishop of Canterbury who anoints priests
If you think you’re worth it, go and sell yourself to the people. If you clamour for anointment by the president, it means you have failed the litmus test of being a ZANU PF leader.
ZANU PF is not a secret society and there is no secret agreement on succession. People are going to vote for their leaders from the grassroots level.

In an interview with ZBC News on Tuesday, Kandishaya criticized Mutsvangwa for publicly discussing the issue of presidential succession within the ruling party. Said Kandishaya:

We don’t discuss succession with the media in ZANU PF; there are laid down procedures. In fact, in ZANU PF, almost everything that we do is procedural; we have the constitution of the party, we have a code of conduct and we have the ideology of ZANU PF.
So everything that is done in ZANU PF must be found within the four corners of the ideology; the ideology is then supported by the constitution of the party.
So, this is not an issue where one can just be seen or heard out there discussing about it. That’s unprocedural.

The ZANU PF Youth League is mad at Mutsvangwa for talking about who will be the next president after Mnangagwa. Mutsvangwa said the president can't just choose someone to be the next president, and people should vote. The youth league says talking about succession in public is wrong, there are rules to follow. They don't want this to be a big issue in the party. Everyone must follow party rules and not talk about the president's successor without following the right procedures.
