The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) and the Premier Soccer League (PSL) have expressed their condolences to Highlanders Football Club following the passing of the club’s chief executive officer, Sihlangu Dlodlo.
Dlodlo was found dead at his home in Nketa 9, Bulawayo, on Monday at the age of 60. Friends reported that he was last seen alive on Saturday, two days before his body was discovered.
Concerned family and friends had to break down his gate to find him unresponsive through a window.
In a statement, ZIFA said Dlodlo’s death has left an irreplaceable void, impacting not only Highlanders but the entire Zimbabwean football community. Said ZIFA:

In a statement, the PSL said Dlodlo was a passionate and committed leader who served the football community with integrity. It said:

Highlanders Executive Chairman, Retired Colonel Kenneth Mhlophe, confirmed that Dlodlo’s body was discovered at his Nketa 9 residence around 6 PM on Monday. He said:

His lifeless body was found at his Nketa residence in Bulawayo on Monday shortly after 1800hrs. Our organisation is mourning the loss of an exceptional leader, colleague, and friend.
As such, the club extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, loved ones, and all those affected by this heart-wrenching news. Mourners are gathered at House Number 6432 Nketa 9.

A Facebook post he made on October 16 is now being viewed as a potential suicide note, raising concerns about his mental well-being prior to this tragic incident. In the post, Dlodlo wrote in Ndebele:

A nice way to end the drama and nonsense that happens at funerals is to die alone at home and rot for a week or so until the neighbors see green flies by the windows; then the police arrive to recover your remains in a zinc coffin on an open truck, hopefully taking you to Kings and Queens. That way, there will be no body viewing—straight to Luveve Cemetery. By the way, please don’t bring flowers, sweethearts.

Many of his associates initially dismissed the post, not giving it much thought, as Dlodlo was known for his playful demeanour.
His final Facebook update, posted just after 3 PM local time on Saturday, read: “Ngiqinisile, ngiqinisile ngithi kini, uNkulunkulu kadakwa shem [Verily, verily I say unto you, God is never drunk. For real].”

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has found Highlanders Football Club guilty of causing the abandonment of their Chibuku Super Cup quarter-final match against Simba Bhora on September 22 at Wadzanayi Stadium.
As a result, the PSL imposed a US$6,000 fine on Highlanders and awarded the match to Simba Bhora on a 3-0 scoreline.
The decision came after a review by a three-member disciplinary committee, which ruled that Highlanders violated Order 8.8 of the Chibuku Super Cup Rules and were responsible for the match abandonment.
The incident occurred in the 79th minute when the referee, Cecil Gwezera, and his assistant, Zondzi Ngosana, awarded a penalty to Simba Bhora following a clash between Highlanders’ Peter Muduhwa and Tinashe Balakasi.
However, video replays suggested that the incident took place outside the box.
Highlanders protested the penalty decision, leading to the eventual abandonment of the match. The ruling reads in part:

This action was prompted by the club’s claims of unfair treatment from football administrators and biased officiating during their Chibuku Super Cup quarter-final match against Simba Bhora last month.

In an interview with <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/over-2-000-attend-fine-fundraiser/">Zimpapers Sports Hub</a>, Nhlanhla Bango Dube, chairperson of the Highlanders Cowdray Park Supporters Chapter, said that the event was not a boycott but rather a crucial fundraiser for the team. He said:

With the team facing financial troubles, we decided to bring money directly to the club. It’s not a boycott or anything like that but just a fundraiser. We saw it fit to host this fundraiser at the Clubhouse.

We need to unite as fans and assist the club. Who knows, maybe one day we will buy a bus with money from such initiatives.

Bosso’s match against Simba Bhora at Wadzanayi Stadium was abandoned in the second half after the hosts were awarded a controversial penalty call by referee Cecil Gwezera. Television replays suggested that the decision was incorrect.

In what could be the most thrilling match of the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL), CAPS United staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Highlanders in “the Battle of Zimbabwe” at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.
Lot Chiwunga emerged as the hero for CAPS United, scoring the Green Machine’s third goal in added time, securing a 3-2 victory over Bosso.
The decisive goal came just moments after Junior Bunjira had equalized with five minutes left in regulation time.
CAPS United had trailed for much of the match due to a brace from Lynoth Chikuhwa within the first 32 minutes.
Facing potential defeat, CAPS United found hope when the league’s top scorer, William Manondo, converted a first-half penalty.

I think we played well and we could have come out with a bigger scoreline, especially looking at the number of scoring chances that we had.

But some things are beyond my control. If you saw the opponents’ intensity, it means they were well-prepared for us.
We failed to train and they capitalised on fast goal attacks. We tried to contain them but at the same time, we lost some energy in the process.
Maybe it was because of the lack of training. Our fitness level today was not spot on.

In a statement issued this Thursday, 14 March, the Bosso executive committee said Moyo has decided not to renew his contract which expires on 31 March.

Bosso thanked Moyo “for the commitment that [he] exhibited during his tenure firstly as the Media Officer and presently in the role of (CEO).”
Moyo joined Highlanders Football Club as the communications and media officer. His role involved shaping the club’s narrative and connecting with fans and stakeholders.
In October 2021, Moyo was appointed as the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Highlanders Football Club. This role came after Nhlanhla Bahlangene Dube took a leave from the position.
A mere three months later, on 22 March 2022, Moyo achieved a remarkable milestone. He was appointed as the substantive Highlanders CEO, becoming the youngest person in the country to hold this esteemed position.

Dynamos and Highlanders have issued a joint statement this Friday, 23 February condemning remarks made by Premier Soccer League (PSL) chairman, Farai Jere, which they described as “inflammatory”.
Speaking on the sidelines of the renewal of a sponsorship deal between the PSL and Delta Beverages in Harare on Thursday, 22 February, Jere said they deliberately fixed the match between Highlanders and Dynamos on the opening weekend of the 2024 season at Barbourfields Stadium to prevent the orgy of violence that has characterised the fixture in past seasons. Jere, who owns CAPS United, said:

We wanted this match played early in the season because we cannot allow two clubs to be holding the entire league at ransom, to bring the whole league into disrepute.
</blockquote>
Jere’s remarks angered Dynamos and Highlanders executives who said the comments had the potential to damage the reputation and integrity of the two clubs. Reads the statement:

Dynamos FC and Highlanders FC jointly condemn the inflammatory remarks made by Premier League Chairman, Mr Farai Jere, regarding our clubs.
His characterization of Highlanders and Dynamos as violent teams is not only reckless but also deeply concerning.
Such allegations have the potential to damage the reputation and integrity of our esteemed clubs, as well as undermine the spirit of fair play in Zimbabwean football.
We categorically reject Mr Jere’s remarks and call for them to be unequivocally condemned. As pillars of the Zimbabwean football community, Highlanders FC and Dynamos FC have long stood for values of sportsmanship, integrity, and respect.
We have worked tirelessly to promote these principles both on and off the field, and we will not allow baseless accusations to tarnish our hard-earned reputation.
Furthermore, we express our disappointment with the utterances by Mr Jere that our match day one fixture was deliberately ‘fixed’, a decision that goes against the principles of fairness and equality that are the foundation of competitive sports.
We urge the league authorities to reconsider this position and ensure that all fixtures are arranged transparently and impartially, per the spirit of fair play.

Highlanders Football Club known as Bosso has appointed Kelvin Kaindu as the new head coach for the club’s first team. Results Of Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Matches Played Saturday

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Rahman_Gumbo/">Rahman Gumbo</a>, a former coach of the Zimbabwe national football team and a revered figure in the Highlanders football club, has died at the age of 59. Gumbo collapsed at his home in Palapye, Botswana, and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but his condition never improved until medical authorities there decided to transfer him to a Francistown facility, 160km away Friday evening where he was immediately put on the Intensive Care Unit.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, he tragically succumbed to a suspected heart attack late on Friday.
At the time of his death, Rahman Gumbo was with his wife and his assistant, Zacharia Muzadzi, who had worked with him at his previous club, Morupule Wanderers. Muzadzi confirmed the tragic news to the Chronicle:

Gumbo’s untimely demise sent shockwaves through the football community, not just in Zimbabwe but across the region. His contributions as both a player and a coach were widely acknowledged and respected. He had a successful career as a player for Highlanders Football Club and represented the Zimbabwe national team, known as the Warriors.
As a coach, Gumbo made notable achievements, particularly during his tenure with Highlanders. He etched his name in history by guiding the club to back-to-back league titles in the 1998/99 and 2000 seasons, a feat that had not been accomplished before. Gumbo’s coaching abilities and tactical acumen earned him respect and admiration from players, fans, and fellow coaches alike.
In recent years, Gumbo has been working as the head coach of Morupule Wanderers in Botswana. However, he was relieved of his duties just a week before his unfortunate passing due to a series of disappointing results.

Highlanders coach Baltemar Brito has blamed his players for the 3-0 to Simba Bhora in a match played at Baobab Stadium on Saturday.
Highlanders, who at one point had opened a 7-point lead at the top of the PSL table, now trail log leaders Ngezi Platinum Stars by 6 points.
Speaking to the media after the match, Brito blamed his players for a “poor attitude’’ saying they failed to follow his instructions. He said:

Highlanders Coach Blames Players' "Poor Attitude" For Loss To Simba Bhora

Highlanders Football Club wants their abandoned Premier Soccer League match against Dynamos to be continued from the 39th minute.
The match, which was hosted by Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium on 10 September 2023, was abandoned in the 38th minute due to crowd trouble.
DeMbare were hosting the match at Highlanders’ traditional home ground because their home, Rufaro Stadium in Harare, is undergoing renovations.
<a href="https://www.sundaynews.co.zw/let-the-game-continue-bosso-want-abandoned-match-to-resume/">The Sunday News</a> reported sources at Bosso as saying the club is not taking the blame for the abandonment of the game, even though their fans invaded the pitch protesting referee Allen Bhasvi’s decision not to award their team a penalty following a coming together of players in the box.
Highlanders appeared before a Premier Soccer League disciplinary committee last Tuesday where the club claimed that the home team Dynamos should have provided adequate security for the match.
Highlanders FC chief executive officer Ronald Moyo told The Sunday News that he could not comment on the case as it was “sub judice” which means it is under judicial consideration and therefore prohibited from public discussion elsewhere.
However, the publication cited senior club sources as saying the club wants the match replayed.
Highlanders are saying the Ajax and Feyenoord match in the Netherlands that was abandoned at 56 minutes due to crowd trouble should be used as a precedent.
Bosso believes that clubs at times are not responsible for violence but this is the work of individuals within a stadium that they do not control.
Feyenoord were leading 3-0 when the game was abandoned and when it resumed a few days later, they scored the fourth goal for a 4-0 win.
Meanwhile, DeMbare were leading 2-0 in the high-profile Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match, dubbed the “Battle of Zimbabwe” when it was abandoned.

Dynamos Football Club has advanced to the semifinals of the Chibuku Super Cup after defeating FC Platinum in the Quarterfinals. The match ended in a 1-1 draw at regulation time, leading to a penalty shootout.
FC Platinum missed two penalties, while Dynamos FC successfully converted all five of theirs.
FC Platinum initially took the lead with a goal by Selemani in the 66th minute, but Dynamos equalized through Keith Madera ten minutes later.

12 Arrested Over Violence At Barbourfields Stadium During Highlanders Vs Dynamos Match

The police in Bulawayo have made six arrests in connection with the violent incidents that occurred at Barbourfields Stadium during a football match between Dynamos and Highlanders.
The chaos erupted in the 38th minute when agitated Highlanders fans threw objects and invaded the pitch, leading to clashes between fans and the police. The match had to be abandoned abruptly, with Dynamos leading 2-0. Eight individuals sustained injuries but have since received medical treatment and are in stable condition. Among the detainees, one person was charged for possessing a firearm, albeit with an empty cartridge. Bulawayo Provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Abednico Ncube, confirmed the arrests and urged the public to refrain from acts of violence. Ncube told the <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/6-arrested-over-bf-violence/">Chronicle</a>:

We are warning members of the public to desist from acts of violence. This follows an uncalled for and avoidable conflict which occurred at Barbourfields stadium on Sunday. Circumstances are that there was a Premier Soccer League match between Highlanders and Dynamos, the match was then abandoned after the supporters invaded the pitch, erupting violence which led to people being injured and also to malicious damage to property.
Eight people sustained varying degrees of injuries but are all in a stable condition. So far six people have been arrested where four are being charged for criminal nuisance, one for failing to secure a firearm after his cash in transit revolver with an empty magazine was found in custody of his girlfriend who was also arrested. Police would therefore like to warn members of the public to desist from this violent behaviour.

Ncube emphasised that such behaviour would not be tolerated, as it results in property damage and unnecessary loss of life. He said the police are determined to address these incidents and maintain public safety.

Bulawayo Police Arrest Six For Violence At Barbourfields Stadium During Highlanders Vs Dynamos Match

Highlanders Football Club has offered to assist the police in apprehending supporters who allegedly looted alcohol from a supermarket in Kwekwe.
<a href="https://www.bmetro.co.zw/police-seek-rogue-bosso-fans/">B-Metro</a> reported that the alleged looting spree occurred when a group of travelling Bosso fans ransacked a supermarket on their way from an away Castle Lager Premiership match against Ngezi Platinum Stars on 30 July 2023.
Highlanders had won the match 1-0 before the looting later that afternoon.
Speaking at a mid-year meeting held at the clubhouse last Sunday, Highlanders chairman Johnfat Sibanda, said:

It’s unfortunate that we still have supporters among us who continue to soil the name of the club by engaging in unruly behaviour.
We received complaints that a group of supporters who travelled for an away match looted a supermarket, stealing alcohol.
We can’t be certain if they are indeed Highlanders supporters because anyone can wear a Bosso jersey and behave in a manner that goes against the values, principles and tradition of Highlanders.
Police have been handed the security footage of the incident and if they ask us to assist them apprehend the culprits, we will certainly do so.
We have a security department that can assist us and say; the people on that footage are so and so, and these are their addresses.

Meanwhile, in the same mid-year meeting, club board chairman Luke Mnkandla, praised Highlanders fans for a peaceful 2023 half-season of the Castle Lager Premiership campaign. He said:

Highlanders extended their lead at the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League log standings after their 1-0 win over Ngezi Platinum Stars in a top-of-the-clash battle at Baobab Stadium on Sunday.
Bosso not only ended the first half of the 2023 season without a loss but also moved seven points clear at the top, thanks to Lynoth Chikuhwa’s second-half effort.

Speaking to the media after the match at Baobab Stadium on Sunday, Highlanders coach Baltemar Brito said he made some changes in the second half which unsettled Ngezi. <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/sport/article/200014704/highlanders-juggernaut-rolls">He said</a>:

Ngezi’s intention was to start the game well and they pressed us high up. We were afraid of doing some mistakes, so we started to play direct balls and it’s not the kind of play that helps our short guys.

Generally, we put everything on the field for us to win this game but football is like that, if you don’t score you are likely to lose a match.

2023/24 PSL Results And Fixtures For Matchday 15

Former Highlanders and Warriors striker, Mandla Balanda real name Mandlenkosi, has died aged 54. <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/mandla-balanda-dies/">The Chronicle</a> reported that Mandla died on Sunday after battling an unnamed illness for some time.
His death came just a few days after overseas-based former Zimbabwean footballers raised funds to assist with his medical bills. Netsai Moyo, who handed over the cash donation, confirmed the news of Balanda’s passing, which he had received from the family that morning. Moyo said:

Its true he is no longer with us. I got news from the family this morning. Sad news for Zimbabwean football.
</blockquote>
Balanda played for Eagles, Darryn T, and Highlanders, and had a successful stint in Botswana, where he is remembered as one of the best dribblers to have graced their shores. Balanda’s football career began at a young age, playing plastic football in the streets of Mpopoma, and he later attended John Tallach boarding school where he specialised in soccer.
Balanda’s professional career began when he joined Hunyani FC, where he played alongside his late brother Clement Balanda, Joe Mbarure, and Peter Kolly. He was called up to the under-20 national team and helped his team win the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) tournament.
He joined Harare-based Tornados FC, a club that was eventually sold to Darryn T textiles. He was then spotted by scouts from TaskFC, a Botswana-based outfit, and he joined the Francistown outfit to form a deadly partnership with Patrick Zibotshwa.
Balanda spent a season at TaskFC and then moved to Gaborone United FC, where he became a household name and helped the team clinch the Botswana Premier Soccer League championship. He returned to Zimbabwe and showcased his top-drawer skills at Highlanders, where he was a scoring machine. Balanda was spotted by veteran coach Ali “baba” Dube during a social soccer match and quickly joined the Amahlolanyama team, which had a galaxy of players. Balanda’s unforgettable game was when his side clashed with DeMbare in an epic battle at Babourfields.
The passing of Balanda is a great loss to Zimbabwean football, and he will be deeply missed by fans and fellow players alike. He is survived by his wife Roselyn Dube and five children. Balanda was born in 1969 and hailed from Nkayi in Matabeleland North province. He was a Christian and had a successful career as a panel beater and spray painter after quitting soccer.

Former Warriors, Highlanders Striker Mandla Balanda Dies

Highlanders are the Independence Day Cup winners for the second successive time after beating Dynamos 5-3 on penalties at Mt Darwin High School on 18 April.
The country’s two biggest football clubs took their rivalry away from Harare and Bulawayo to Mashonaland Central Province as part of the main 43rd Independence Day anniversary celebrations.
Yesterday, Highlanders were forced to play one man down for long periods, after Andrew Mbeba was sent off for a crude tackle on Nyasha Chintuli, in the 33rd minute.
The match ended 0-0 and had to be settled through a penalty shootout.
The Glamour Boys’ Emmanuel Paga, who failed to find the back of the net with only the goalkeeper in his sight in the 85th minute, had his penalty saved by Ariel Sibanda in the shootout.
Highlanders coach Baltemar Brito said his boys deserved the win after keeping Dynamos at bay with 10 men. He said:

I’m happy to have finally won my first silverware in the country, it means a lot for the entire technical team and the fans who travelled all the way from Bulawayo. The boys played well
Mbeba made a mistake and his teammates accepted it and fought for the club to win this trophy.

Highlanders Beat Dynamos On Penalties To Lift Uhuru Cup

Highlanders Football Club, arguably the local club that draws more fans at its home games, has been accused of ignoring security advice against transporting cash from their gate takings using unescorted private vehicles.
<a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/bosso-accused-of-defying-security-advice-on-transporting-gate-takings/">The Chronicle</a> reported that two female employees and a member of the executive allegedly took over US$5 000 after the Sunday match without any security escort.
The publication cited sources as saying the incident occurred soon after the counting of total gate takings and doing reconciliations from their league match against FC Platinum at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday where 11 046 fans were in attendance.
Two employees and one executive member (names supplied) were reportedly observed packing the money into plastic containers before walking out and getting into a private vehicle and driving off. Said a source:

At the pre-match meeting, it was clearly stated that clubs must engage CITs from reputable security companies to transport cash, especially now that fans, a majority of them, pay using forex.
That advice was obviously directed at Highlanders who are in the habit of doing that.
It was therefore surprising that a few hours later, they did exactly what security at the pre-match meeting had advised against.

It was not clear whether the money was being taken to the club offices or not.
Highlanders communications and marketing officer Nozibelo Maphosa could not reveal whether the trio’s actions were with the consent of the club, or the club has a contracted Cash-in-transit (CIT) van. She said:
We are not aware of such allegations, and for obvious security reasons, we cannot divulge to the public how we transit our cash.
On 29 September 2015, then Highlanders secretary Emmet Ndlovu was robbed at gunpoint at Edenvale in South Africa.
The robbers got away with US$300, P300, and R25 000 of club money.

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Highlanders_Football_Club">Highlanders Football Club</a> defeated <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/FC_Platinum">FC Platinum</a> 2-1 in matchday 3 of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) played this Sunday at Barbourfields.
This is the first time Bosso has defeated the Zvishavane-based reigning champions in about ten years.  
Highlanders goals came from Stanley Ngala, a former FC Platinum player, and defender Peter Muduhwa. They scored in the 27th and 33rd minutes respectively.
FC Platinum scored their consolation goal in the second half.

PSL Results: Highlanders Beat FC Platinum

Highlanders Football Club have announced their players and coaches ahead of the start of the 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, with <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Joel_Luphahla">Joel Luphahla</a> being given a new role.
Luphahla, previously the second assistant coach, is now the strikers’ coach, according to the <a href="https://www.sundaynews.co.zw/highlanders-reassign-joel-luphahla/">Sunday News</a>.
The former Warriors striker has a CAF C coaching badge, which means he cannot be an assistant coach to Baltemar Brito.
Last season, Luphahla could not sit in the technical zone after ZIFA directed that Premier Soccer League coaches and their assistants must be holders of CAF A.
Club legend, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Madinda_Ndlovu">Madinda Ndlovu</a>, who recently made a return to Bosso is the first assistant coach while Antonio Torres comes as the second assistant. Torres has a Uefa B but is said to be working on upgrading his qualifications.
Goalkeepers are still under the care of Daniel Khumalo, and former Highlanders player Abraham Mubaiwa has been brought in as a fitness trainer, taking over from Harold Nhachi.
Vezigama Dlodlo retained his position as the welfare and logistics manager. Also still in the same post is long-serving Loyal Nyika, the physiotherapist.

Highlanders Announce Luphahla's New Role, 2023 Coaches, Players

Highlanders head coach Baltemar Brito will miss his team’s 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season-opening match against ZPC Kariba, reported the <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/bosso-coach-off-to-portugal/">Chronicle</a>.
The 71-year-old Portuguese national is set to leave Zimbabwe this Tuesday for his home country for a refresher course.
Brito is a Uefa Pro Coaching licence holder with vast experience. The Uefa Pro badge is the highest world-recognised qualification in football that enables one to coach anywhere in the world.
The licence is valid for three years therefore holders have to renew it in order to continue carrying out their coaching duties.
Brito has worked as Jose Mourinho’s assistant coach at FC Porto in Portugal, Chelsea in England, and Inter Milan in Italy.
Highlanders communications and marketing officer Nozibelo Maphosa confirmed Brito’s unavailability for the opening match of the season. She said:

Coach Brito is leaving this week to regularise his Uefa Pro in Portugal.
We will be announcing our 2023 technical staff before the start of our 2023 season.

In the absence of Brito, club legend Madinda Ndlovu, who was recently appointed as the first-team assistant coach and head of junior development, will be in charge of the first team.
The club is reportedly making plans to ensure Joel Luphahla and Antonio Torres sit on the bench with reassigned titles.
Last season, Luphahla and Torres were prohibited from the bench as ZIFA implemented club licensing which requires PSL coaches and their assistants to be CAF A licence holders.

Highlanders Coach Baltemar Brito To Miss 2023 Season Opener

Highlanders say no decision has been made regarding assistant coach Joel Luphahla’s status, who doesn’t hold the requisite qualifications to sit on the Premier Soccer League (PSL) bench.
It is mandatory for PSL coaches to possess a CAF “A” badge or equivalent. Luphahla is a holder of a CAF “C” Licence.
The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has emphasized that they will not be making any exemptions anymore.
Highlanders chief executive officer Ronald Moyo on Thursday dismissed reports that Luphahla has resigned from the club. Moyo said:

Let me set the record straight on the resignation letter. If there is such a letter, it has not come to my office and I can confirm that I have never received such a letter.
It has not come to my attention. Maybe it will come in the future but as far as I am concerned there is no such letter.

Luphahla is said to be on his way to MWOS FC, a team that is based in Norton and will be competing in the ZIFA Northern Region Division One league this year.
Moyo said head coach Baltemar Brito and the other assistant Antonio Torres are expected in the country in the next two weeks. He said:

We have been planning for our pre-season as usual as you know that Joel is working together with coach Brito and Torres as one of the assistants, so we are planning for the season going ahead.
We are also aware as a club of ZIFA’s implementation of a resolution that was made a few years ago that all coaches and their assistants should be CAF “A” holders. We are aware of that and the coach (Luphahla) is aware of that.
He is working on his qualifications and as a club, we are cognisant of the fact that we have a running contract with the coach.
If there is anything that happened during the course of the pre-season; we will communicate.
But as things stand, he is assisting coach Brito, there is no resignation letter and no decision that has been made.

Torres, a holder of a Uefa “B” licence, was also not cleared to sit on the bench in the course of the season last year.

No Decision Has Been Made Regarding Luphahla's Status - Bosso CEO

Highlanders’ principal sponsor, energy company Sakunda Holdings has offered a 250 percent bonus to the team and administrative staff.
This was revealed by the company’s projects manager Nqobile Magwizi at a dinner held at a local hotel on Sunday evening.
Speaking on behalf of Sakunda proprietor Kuda Tagwirei, Magwizi said Bosso deserves to celebrate turning around their season which started badly but improved gradually culminating in the club finishing the season in position five. Said Magwizi:

This year, Highlanders Football Club will be receiving a 250 percent bonus just to celebrate the efforts made by the team and staff members this season.
Given where the club was at the beginning of the season and being at number five now, it calls for a celebration.
As Sakunda, we are not worried about the final result but the process, efforts and commitment of both the players and management.
Today, we want to recognise this effort and commitment through bonuses which will be paid out before the festive season.

Highlanders’ vice-chairman Fiso Siziba who represented the club at Sunday’s dinner alongside chief executive officer Ronald Moyo, thanked Sakunda for the support. Siziba said:

We met our principal sponsors Sakunda Holdings last night (Sunday) as a review of the past season, it was an informal meeting.
We took them on a tour of our properties, the Robert Mugabe way offices, Clubhouse and California Hotel (Luveve camping house) and they pledged to assist come up with business plans to spruce up our business entities.
They also extended the gesture to pay bonuses and this gives us confidence that they’re seeing what’s happening at Highlanders, it’s an indication that they believe in the process.

Highlanders Players Offered 250% Bonus By Sakunda Holdings

A player from the Highlanders development side, Bosso90 died on Tuesday morning at Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo.
The <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/bosso90-player-tragically-passes-away/">Chronicle</a> reported sources as saying the footballer was pushed off a moving truck.
The deceased Bosso90 player is Caesar Dube and is the son of Siza Dube.
Highlanders Football Club announced the sad development via a statement posted on its Twitter platform. It said:

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing on of our Bosso 90 midfielder, Caesar “Mafigo” Dube who died this morning at Mpilo Central Hospital. May his family and friends find comfort during this difficult period.
