The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) 2023 Grade Seven results are out with the pass rate increasing by 5.48 percent from last year.
Here is how you can access the results on the ZIMSEC website:

Here Is How To View ZIMSEC Grade Seven Results Online

An 11-year-old boy from Masvingo, who was doing Grade 6 at Victoria Primary School scored nine units in the 2022 Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) Grade 7 final examinations.
This means that Noah Junior Marima will skip Grade 7 and automatically proceed to secondary school next year.
The boy’s father, Noah Marima, owns the state-of-the-art Junior Primary and Junior High boarding schools in Rhodene, a low-density suburb.
Noah Junior scored ones in Maths, Shona, Social Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, and Tech.
He got two units in English while in Physical Education and Arts he got 3 units.
Marima expressed satisfaction over his son’s performance and pledged to support him to be whatever he wants. He said:

I am elated with the achievement and as his father I don’t want to decide for him what he wants to do, I will allow him to choose his passion and my role will be to support him to chase his dreams.

Grade 6 Masvingo "Whizzkid" To Skip Grade 7

The children of some teachers have failed to get their Grade 7 results after school authorities allegedly withheld them to force the teachers to settle school fees arrears.
Several schools in Gweru have reportedly refused to release result slips for children of teachers, saying they had not paid up school fees.
In February this year, the Government pledged to pay school fees for up to three biological children per teacher’s family.
The promised figure amounted to $20 000 per child per term.
However, the government has failed to fulfill its pledge, and now some teachers are in a quandary as they cannot apply for Form One places for their children without the Grade 7 results slips.
The Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Paul Mavima, said the government has not changed its position on paying school fees for the children of teachers. He said:

This is now an administrative matter that the Ministry of Education should pursue with the Treasury.
The policy instruction was given earlier this year by His Excellency, President E D Mnangagwa and still stands.

Zimbabwe Teachers’ Association of Zimbabwe (Zimta) secretary-general Goodwill Taderera said the government should pay the money for school fees directly into teachers’ bank accounts. Said Taderera:

Children Of Teachers Fail To Get Grade 7 Results

The Zimbabwe Schools Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has released the 2022 Grade 7 examinations results. To access the results, all you need to do is this:
Option A – Via the ZIMSEC website:
1. Visit the ZIMSEC website at <a href="https://www.zimsec.co.zw/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">www.zimsec.co.zw</a> and you will be taken to the home page.
2. Click on “View Results” and you will be taken to a page that shows all the country’s 10 regions [R1-Harare, R2-Manicaland, R3-Mashonaland East, R4-Matabeleland North, R5-Midlands, R7-Masvingo, R7-Mashonaland Central, R8-Mashonaland West, R9-Matabeleland South, R10-Bulawayo].
3. Select the region where your school is located and proceed to the instructions for registration.
Option B- Via direct access to your school’s region:
1. The application portal is accessed via the Regional access links/addresses.
2. Copy and paste on the web browser address bar the link for the region where your school is located.

<h2>Creating an account</h2>
In order to register you will need your centre number, candidate number, and date of birth to create an account.
When entering the name of the candidate start with the Surname followed by the First Name and finally the initial for the second name, if there is one. If you start with the first name followed by the surname, you may get an error message saying “candidate details not found.”
You will also need to create a username and password for your account.  Please remember these.
When you are done,  entering all the details, click “Register.”
After you have registered and created your new account, you will be redirected to the home page. 
You will need to log in using the username and password you would have entered.
After you enter the username and password, the ZIMSEC results portal will be opened.
Click on “Candidate Results” at the top and the results will be displayed.

The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) is yet to establish why the Grade Seven pass rate in 2022 was lower than that recorded in 2021 considering that there were far fewer disruptions.
In 2020 and 2021, learning was disrupted by several COVID-19-induced lockdowns while in 2022, learning activities were back to normal apart from some delays during the first term.
ZIMSEC on Wednesday released the Grade 7 results, with a 40. 09 percent pass rate, marginally below the 41.13 per cent pas rate of last year.
Girls, with a 43.66 percent pass rate, did a lot better than boys who had a 3622 per cent pass rate.
Speaking in Harare on Wednesday after the announcement of the 2022 Grade Seven public examination results, ZIMSEC board chair Professor Eddie Mwenje said:

The reasons are sometimes very difficult to establish until you do a deep analysis of the results which we do normally just to advise the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education on certain aspects.
Given that this year students received much more time for learning than in the previous year, they ought to have done better.

ZIMSEC director Lazarus Nembaware said continuous assessment learning activity (CALA) could be one of the factors. He said:

It could be other reasons, which we will look into but as of now, we also think that candidates are still settling into the CALA component.
This is the second year in which CALA has been part and parcel of the examination system so it could be that and we will look into those areas more critically after the release of these results.

ZIMSEC said it recorded a higher number of candidates writing the exam than did so last year. It said:

A total of 343 169 candidates sat for the 2022 Grade Seven examinations as compared to 325 573 candidates who sat for the same examinations in 2021, showing a 5.4 percent increase in candidature, that is an additional 17 596 candidates.

The headmaster at Muvhami Primary School in Makonde district is reportedly holding on to the Grade 7 results of former pupils until payment of outstanding tuition fees.
Some of the pupils wrote their examinations as far back as 2014 and should have completed Advanced Level by now.
A disgruntled parent, whose child was recently denied results, told NewZimbabwe.com on Friday, the school headmaster identified as Elson Maturure was demanding outstanding schools fees in US dollars instead of local bond notes at a 1:1 rate. The parent said:
<blockquote>My child sat for their Grade 7 exams last year while her school fees were in arrears. As a small-scale tobacco farmer expecting to go to the auction sales floor and get paid, I recently engaged the school authorities with a payment plan.
However, the glitch is that the headmaster insists we pay the outstanding amounts equivalent to US dollars at a 1:1 rate which l, and other parents, think is unfair and unrealistic. For example, l owed $90 in bond notes, which means l am expected to pay US$90.</blockquote>
Meanwhile, Education Ministry communications director Taungana Ndoro told NewZimbabwe.com that school officials do not wield any power or authority to withhold pupils’ examinations results.
Ndoro said schools that are owed tuition fees should pursue other humane means, including legal, to recover the money than resort to withholding exam results.
