The Zimbabwe Schools Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has maintained the 2022 Grade Seven examination fees.
Parents and guardians will pay US$29 for all subjects while Government subsidizes the fees with US$36 for the US$65 fees.
The amount should be paid in either foreign or local currency based on the prevailing interbank rate on 03 March 2023. ZIMSEC said in a statement:

Please be advised that the examination fees for 2023 is US$65 for all subjects.
Government will contribute US$36 for candidates in public schools while parents and guardians will pay US$29.
Candidates from private schools and colleges will pay the full cost of US$65 as examination fees for the year.

ZIMSEC spokesperson Nicky Dlamini said the termly figure will be US$10 but parents can pay the whole amount which is US$29 between 3 March and 10 March. Said Dlamini:

We are basically using the same fees structure as that of last year. If a parent or guardian wants to pay the whole amount once, they will fork out US$29, between March 3 and March 10.
If one decides to pay in installments, one will pay US$10 per term.

ZIMSEC Grade 7 Examination Fees Unchanged

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education says Grade Grade 7 learners should continue attending school until the end of the term for social protection.
Grade 7 learners finished writing their Zimbabwe School Examination Council (ZIMSEC) examinations on Monday, almost two months before the end of the third term.
Ministry spokesperson Taungana Ndoro said keeping the learners in school will prevent them from engaging in wayward behaviour. He said:

The school system protects them from sexual, physical and emotional abuse. Being at school prevents them from loafing around in the townships where they end up engaging in wayward behaviour.
</blockquote>
He said Grade 7 pupils should use the period after writing examinations for educational tours as well as to learn how to transition to the secondary level. Said Ndoro:

It is the time when they would go on educational tours to places like Victoria Falls, Kariba and the like since it has thematic links to other learning areas across the curriculum.

In a memorandum dated 11 October 2022, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education instructed District Schools Inspectors to remind primary school heads that Grade 7 learners should continue to attend classes. Reads the memo:

Request your schools to submit timetable for Life Orientation Programme, at the same time submit attendance statistics daily.

Ministry Explains Why Grade 7 Pupils Should Continue Attending Classes After Final Exams

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has ordered Grade 7 pupils to continue attending school after their final public examinations ended on Monday this week.
The Ministry has said during this period, Grade 7 pupils must go through what it calls a “Life Orientation Programme”.
According to a memo from Jameson Machimbira, the provincial education director for Harare, schools inspectors have been instructed to remind heads to keep pupils at school, to “submit timetables for the Life Orientation Programme” and also provide “time attendance statistics daily”.
However, Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) secretary-general Raymond Majongwe said teachers were never consulted. Majongwe said:

The poor teachers have no idea what they will be teaching.
… What happened to stakeholder engagement? Schools are not paddocks. This is crazy! Why invent new rules mid-flight?
Let the kids and the teachers rest. Preparations for examinations are a tough game.

Govt Orders Grade 7 Pupils To Stay At School After Exams

A Grade Seven pupil at Muvhimwa Primary School in Makoni District was injured when a classroom roof was blown off while the learners were sitting for their ZIMSEC examinations last week.
Makoni District Schools Inspector, George Chidhakwa, confirmed the incident to <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/new-roof-blown-off-during-exam/">The Manica Post</a> adding that it did not affect the examination as the invigilating teacher was collecting answer sheets from the learners. Said Chidhakwa:

Some roofing sheets were blown off at Muvhimwa Primary and there are no reports of injuries to learners and staff. The examination was not disturbed.
</blockquote>
However, a source at the school said that one of the learners suffered minor injuries when asbestos sheets fell into the classroom. Said the source:

Strong winds swept through our school and one classroom where the learners were sitting for a Shona paper had its roof blown off.
The asbestos sheets fell right into the classroom where the invigilator was collecting answer sheets from the candidates.
A learner was hit by debris and sustained minor injuries. The teacher managed to control the stampeding learners.

Roof Blown Off During ZIMSEC Examinations

In an interview with The Chronicle, acting Bulawayo Provincial Education Director Mrs Olicah Kaira said there was nothing wrong with the Grade Seven General Paper 1 examination except one wrong spelling for Plumtree. The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education had initiated an investigation following claims that there were irregularities.
Said Kaira:
<blockquote>We went through the paper and have concluded that there were no issues of concern except for the spelling mistake on Plumtree which was unfortunate. It had a missing ‘e’ at the end. School heads noted the mistake on Plumtree and have informed Zimsec officials but otherwise the examination is in line with what is taught at Grade Seven level.</blockquote>

Dokora's ministry finishes investigating Zimsec Grade 7 General Paper 1 exam, says there were no issues

Acting Bulawayo Provincial Education Director (PED) Mrs Olicah Kaira told The Chronicle that thery have launched an investigation to look into matter raised by parents concerning a Zimbabwe School Examination Council (Zimsec) Grade Seven General Paper 1 examination which was written on Monday.
Some parents took to social media alleging that the paper had some spelling mistakes and ambiguity when it came to choices for answers. Kaira said that the probe will enable her to advise Zimsec and her Ministry accordingly. Said Kaira:
<blockquote>I can confirm that pupils wrote the examination on Monday. It was the first paper that was written. I’ve seen and read the message that is circulating on WhatsApp. I’m yet to verify. I’ve got the question paper, I will go through the paper and establish if there are any concerns then I will advise the Permanent Secretary (Dr Sylvia Utete-Masango) and Zimsec.</blockquote>
However, Zimsec’s public relations officer Ms Nicky Dlamini defended the examination paper and said that it had answers. She also urged people to use relevant communication channels and not WhatsApp. Said Dlamini:
<blockquote>The questions do have answers. It’s a multiple choice question paper. At the level of a Grade Seven if you look at the way they are taught there is an answer to the question that they were asked. The first thing I will inform the nation is that remember that Grade Seven examinations started on Monday so we are actually in a live examination. So basically what the public is doing, they are causing panic for the students who are writing the examination. If there is a genuine concern, there are proper professional ways of addressing these concerns.</blockquote>

Dokora's ministry launches investigation into Zimsec Grade 7 exam paper written on Monday

A Grade 7 pupil at Murongwe Primary School in Mberengwa East experienced labour pains in the middle of her <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_School_Examinations_Council">Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council</a> (zimsec) national examination on Monday and was rushed home where she gave birth.The incident occurred when pupils were sitting for an English Paper 2 exam.
A relative to the minor, who spoke to Chronicle on condition of anonymity, said the girl, who had concealed the pregnancy, started experiencing labour pains while writing the examination. The relative said the minor concluded her examinations from a clinic bed under the watch of the two female teachers,
<blockquote>She was rushed to Murongwe Clinic but she had already given birth. She was first taken home where she delivered before being taken to hospital. She had to finish her examination on her hospital bed.</blockquote>
He said it was agreed that she finishes other examination papers from her hospital bed since she was not fit to return to class. Mberengwa East MP <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Makhosini_Hlongwane">Makhosini Hlongwane</a> bemoaned early indulgence in sexual activities by school going children.
