Former First Lady <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Grace_Mugabe/">Grace Mugabe</a>, the widow of Zimbabwe’s late founding leader, Robert Mugabe, was in attendance at President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s inauguration ceremony held at the National Sports Stadium in Harare on Monday. The presence of Grace Mugabe, accompanied by her daughter Bona and Robert Mugabe Junior, was met with cheers from the crowd, indicating that the former First Family still holds a measure of public support.
Considering the circumstances surrounding her husband’s departure from the political scene, where he was “forced” to resign following the military’s intervention and the dismissal of Mnangagwa as Vice President, it was uncertain whether Grace would attend the event. Bona had previously attended Mnangagwa’s initial inauguration, while Robert had been seen at various ZANU PF rallies.
When Grace approached the podium and embraced Mnangagwa, the stadium erupted with noise, creating an impression of reconciliation and potentially signalling her endorsement of Mnangagwa as the leader of the nation in Southern Africa.
Former Vice Presidents <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Phelekezela_Mphoko/">Phelekezela Mphoko</a> (considered a member of the G40 cabal) and <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Joice_Mujuru/">Joice Mujuru</a>, along with losing presidential candidates <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Lovemore_Madhuku/">Lovemore Madhuku</a>, Gwinyai Henry Muzorewa, and Harry Peter Wilson, were present at the event.
According to <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Pedzisai_Ruhanya/">Pedzisai Ruhanya</a>, a Zimbabwean academic, journalist, and political commentator, the return of former G40 members to ZANU PF after Mugabe’s ousting reveals the political dynamics within post-ED ZANU PF. Ruhanya who is also the director of the <a class="new" href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/index.php?title=Zimbabwe_Democracy_Institute&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1" title="Zimbabwe Democracy Institute (page does not exist)">Zimbabwe Democracy Institute</a> (ZDI), said:

The trooping back to ZANU PF of former G40 members after the coup against Mugabe as seen at the inauguration of President Mnangagwa and some’s appearances in media spaces controlled by the government indicate post-ED ZANU PF political dynamics.
</blockquote>
Some speculate that Grace Mugabe attended the event due to concerns that any misstep could lead to investigations into her family’s “ill-gotten” wealth. Additionally, there is an ongoing divorce case involving her daughter Bona and Simba Chikore, therefore, Mnangagwa could possibly influence the outcome. Joyce Mujuru’s attendance is seen as a move to protect her interests, as she became vulnerable after her husband’s mysterious death. Some say Phelekezela Mphoko’s presence may be an attempt to influence his son’s rape case, as Siqokoqela was convicted and sentenced for raping his 12-year-old niece but is currently out on bail pending an appeal.
Mnangagwa took oath of office in front of <a class="text__text__1FZLe text__inherit-color__3208F text__inherit-font__1Y8w3 text__inherit-size__1DZJi link__underline_default__2prE_" data-testid="Link" href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Luke_Malaba/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Chief Justice Luke Malaba</a> who in 2018 declared Mnangagwa as the winner following a constitutional court challenge. He said:

A number of African leaders, such as South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Mozambique leader Phillipe Nyusi, and Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi, attended the swearing-in ceremony. However, Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema decided not to attend.
<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Nelson_Chamisa/">Nelson Chamisa</a>, the leader of the opposition Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) party, called for a fresh vote, claiming the election was “flawed.” However, his party did not legally challenge the results, allowing Mnangagwa’s inauguration. Mnangagwa urged the opposition to seek redress in court, asserting the validity of the vote and cautioning against spreading chaos, with a warning of crackdowns.
According to the preliminary report by the SADC observer mission, the election failed to meet both regional and international standards. Additionally, the EU observer mission described the polls as taking place in a “climate of fear.” The government faced criticism for arresting more than 40 activists from civic society organizations and allegations of widespread voter intimidation in rural areas. While the voting process itself was peaceful, significant delays in the distribution of ballot papers marred the polling, leading to accusations of voter suppression by the opposition.
After years of isolation, Zimbabwe, under Mnangagwa’s leadership, has aimed to rebuild relationships with Western partners. However, his second term begins amidst ongoing economic difficulties, including an 80% devaluation of the Zim dollar this year and frozen international funding. Without foreign assistance, Zimbabwe’s economic struggles are likely to persist, leaving millions uncertain about their future.

Grace Mugabe And Some G40 Members Attend President Mnangagwa's Inauguration

Self-exiled former cabinet minister, Professor <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jonathan_Moyo">Jonathan Moyo</a> has reiterated that <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Saviour_Kasukuwere">Saviour Kasukuwere</a> sought forgiveness from ZANU PF leadership since 2017.
Moyo’s remarks come after Kasukuwere allegedly mocked the former Tsholotsho legislator for writing an apology letter to ZANU PF. Moyo said:

Tyson launched his 2023 presidential bid with an UNPROVOKED attack on me and @PatrickZhuwao for our apology to ZanuPF members. Yet: We are not 2023 presidential candidates Our letter does not beg for forgiveness. It is him who has begged ZanuPF BIGWIGS for forgiveness!
Tyson and his lot wished that his UNPROVOKED attack on me &amp; @PatrickZhuwao over our apology letter to ZanuPFmembers, would go unchallenged; but I responded with FACTS, that it is him who has sought forgiveness from ZanuPF bigwigs since 2017; this got me criminally threatened!
It is idiocy to say our letter seeks forgiveness “that bullets missed us on 15 Nov 2017”; when @PatrickZhuwao was not even in Zim. Fact is, we clearly apologised to ZANU-PF MEMBERS for using – and being associated with – the #ZanuPfMustGo; hashtag!

Kasukuwere, a former ZANU PF political commissar, said that he will not apologise to the ruling party or President Emmerson Mnangagwa, and seek readmission into the party. 
Moyo and Kasukuwere are among several former senior government officials who skipped the country’s borders in 2017 following the ouster of the late founding leader of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe. They allegedly belonged to the G40 faction which was opposed to the Lacoste faction which was allegedly being led by then Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

"Kasukuwere Has Sought Forgiveness From ZANU PF Bigwigs Since 2017" - Jonathan Moyo

The ruling ZANU PF party has claimed it has been infiltrated saying some of its members were secretly working with the opposition.
These reports come amid reports of power struggles and disgruntlement among party senior officials ahead of the elective congress later this month.
ZANU PF political commissar Mike Bimha said the party had roped in “experts” to assess the loyalty of its members suspected to be working with the opposition. 
Speaking at a Press conference on Friday ahead of the party’s central committee elections that were held on Saturday, Bimha said:
<blockquote>
You also have those who have been disqualified because there (was) additional information to the point that probably they are not in good standing in terms of their activities and some who might not really (be) moving with us, who might probably be ZANU PF during day and opposition during the night. So, there are cases like that where you need experts to assist us to make a better assessment.

In an interview with <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200001775/weve-been-infiltrated-zanu-pf">NewsDay</a>, Bimha said disqualifying suspected disloyal members was one of the measures that had been put in place by the party to deal with the problem of infiltration but he would not disclose the names of those fingered. 
He said ZANU PF was not worried by the G40 cabal but by the opposition parties in the country. 
Political analyst Eldred Masunungure said the alleged infiltration was a confirmation of the fissures within the ruling party. Masunungure said:

Disloyalty among the ruling ZANU PF members has been rumoured for a long time since 2018 in the aftermath of the coup that ousted (the late former President Robert) Mugabe.
This points to the general disgruntlement of the party members against Mnangagwa’s leadership.  It could be a reincarnation of another Bhora Musango.

Masunungure added that the opposition parties are not good at counter-infiltration. He is also of the view that infiltration could be orchestrated by the G40 working together with CCC just to destabilise ZANU PF.

ZANU PF Claims It Has Been Infiltrated By The Opposition, "Not G-40"

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has said it is investigating the <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/sybeth-musengezis-house-petrol-bombed/">alleged bombing</a> of <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Sybeth_Musengezi">Sybeth Musengezi</a>‘s home.
<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Sybeth_Musengezi">Sybeth Musengezi</a> who is challenging President <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Emmerson_Mnangagwa">Emmerson Mnangagwa</a>’s legitimacy claimed on October 1, 2022, that his Harare house had been set on fire.
He posted pictures of his burning property on social media saying his neighbours managed to extinguish the fire. Said Musengezi in posts seen by Pindula News:

410 sandton on fire my house petrol bombed help please. Help please petrol bombing at my house in sandton.
This is what they have done. Thanks to the neighbourhood vadzodzima moyo nema buckets.
We managed to get out.

ZRP later confirmed receiving a report about the incident. Said the police:
<blockquote>
The ZRP has received a report from Sybeth Musengezi concerning an alleged incident at his home and is now conducting investigations.
</blockquote>
Meanwhile, Musengezi is expected in court this Monday, 03 October 2022 for the continuation of the case in which he is challenging the legitimacy of President Mnangagwa.
He claims that Mnangagwa’s ascendancy to power in 2017, <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2017/11/21/mugabe-resigns/">following the ouster</a> of former leader <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Robert_Mugabe">Robert Mugabe</a>, was unconstitutional therefore must be nullified by the courts.
Musengezi also wants an order barring Mnangagwa from calling and or presiding over a ZANU PF elective Congress set for this month.
His critics say he is being sent by Vice President <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Constantino_Chiwenga">Constantino Chiwenga</a> who is allegedly working with the remnants of the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/G40_(Zanu-PF_Faction)">G40 cabal</a> in a bid to dislodge Mnangagwa from power.

Police Investigating Alleged Bombing Of Sybeth Musengezi's Home

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Sybeth_Musengezi">Sybeth Musengezi</a> who filed a High Court case challenging President <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Emmerson_Mnangagwa">Emmerson Mnangagwa</a>‘s legitimacy says his life is in danger as he constantly receives death threats over the case.
Musengezi who claims to be a ZANU PF youth member is challenging the ascendancy of President Mnangagwa to the leadership of the party in 2017 following the demise of the late veteran leader <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Robert_Mugabe">Robert Mugabe</a> saying the rise was unconstitutional.
He filed his challenge last year, but Mnangagwa’s lawyers have been pressing him to drop the High Court case while some ZANU PF activists promised to take unspecified action against him.
Musengezi last month filed another urgent High Court application seeking <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/sybeth-musengezi-approaches-courts-seeking-to-stop-zanu-pf-congress/">to stop Mnangagwa from calling and presiding over ZANU PF’s elective congress</a> slated for October before the case he brought before the court is finalised.
Sources in the party believe Musengezi is a product of an alleged alliance between former <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/G40_(Zanu-PF_Faction)">G40</a> members and Vice-President <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Constantino_Chiwenga">Constantino Chiwenga</a> in a bid to frustrate Mnangagwa’s bid to contest in 2023 elections, allegations which Musengezi has refuted.
Musengezi told <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200000711/musengezi-case-rattles-zanu-pf">NewsDay</a> on Sunday that death threats escalated ahead of the court sitting on Wednesday this week. He said:
<blockquote>
Yes, in recent weeks, I’ve seen a number of unmarked vehicles parked just outside of my yard. Sometimes they park when I’m not there and my colleagues would call me to say there is a vehicle or vehicles without plates parked at home.
I personally confronted those people and they just drive off. I can’t really say I’m safe because I don’t know what these people are up to, but if anything is to happen to me, obviously it is people linked to the case.
I have received threats since I launched the legitimacy application last year, with people trying to intimidate me to withdraw and at one point, was arrested and detained for 10 days on a spurious charge to try and force me to withdraw the matter. So, after realising that threats and detention have failed, they have resorted to intimidation tactics.
</blockquote>
He said he would not be shaken by threats since he was doing the right thing for the country.
Musengezi is not only opposed to Mnangagwa’s rise to power, but he also does not want him to <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/zanu-pf-war-veterans-league-endorses-ed-as-their-sole-presidential-candidate/">contest the 2023 presidential elections</a> saying he is too old, at 80, to lead the southern African country. In a Twitter post seen by Pindula News, he said:

Mnangagwa turned 80 yday (15 September). Some Cdes are saying since he wants 5 more years as ‘president’ let’s give him. This means he’ll finish his 2nd unproductive term when he is 86. For me it’s a big NO Considering our economy, it’s very foolish to let someone this old determine our future
</blockquote>
Musengezi’s lawyer Nqobani Sithole of Ncube Attorneys confirmed the death threats which are said to have escalated since September 21, 2022 date,” Sithole said.
Meanwhile, ZANU PF political commissar <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Mike_Bimha">Mike Bimha</a> claimed not to know who Musengezi was.

Sybeth Musengezi Says His Life Is In Danger Ahead Of Mnangagwa Legitimacy Case Hearing

Exiled former ZANU PF national political commissar, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Saviour_Kasukuwere">Saviour Kasukuwere</a>, has said there is a need to steer the ruling ZANU PF back on course.
He alleges that the party’s current leadership has failed to solve the chaos that prevails in ZANU PF. 
Kasukuwere speaks when he is being accused of sponsoring a ZANU PF member, Sybeth Musengezi, in challenging President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ascendancy to the party’s presidency following the ouster of the late leader Robert Mugabe in November 2017.
But Kasukuwere said accusations against him are scapegoats by a leadership that has failed its mandate. He said: 
<blockquote>
The accusations against me are hallucinations from ignorant characters that have no interest of the party at heart.
Arguing about an obvious absurdity is indicative of serious lack of emotional intelligence on the part of those who should lead the movement.
Scapegoats are not the solution, but rather the solution is tackling the core political question of the day. Political maturity and wisdom is urgently required to steer the party back on course.
</blockquote>
Kasukuwere who was fired from the party in 2017 together with other party members who were alleged to be members of the vanquished G-40 faction, has indicated that he wants to contest the 2023 presidential election. 
He previously pushed the #TysonWabantu campaign which flopped after close associates including Professor Jonathan Moyo distanced themselves from it.
There are reports that suggest that G-40 remnants in ZANU PF are preparing for his return.

Kasukuwere Speaks Of Need "To Steer ZANU PF Back On Course"

ZANU PF political commissar, Victor Matemadanda has dismissed reports suggesting that the ongoing restructuring process is likely to be aborted as some senior officials believe it is causing divisions.
The ruling party embarked on the restructuring process to establish formidable structures to recruit and mobilise members ahead of the 2023 election.
Speaking to NewsDay on Friday, Matemadanda professed ignorance on the matter adding that it could be a strategy by some aspiring candidates to dissuade rivals from preparing. He said:
<blockquote>If there are plans like that, I am yet to get that. I don’t know where that is coming from. If there is such a directive, I am yet to get communication to that effect.
It may be a strategy by others to make other competitors relax while they get on the ground, I don’t know really. I don’t have such an instruction.</blockquote>
This comes amid reports that the governing party is marred by factionalism with two main factions being led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa and another by his deputy Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.
Meanwhile, members of the ousted G40 faction are reportedly keen to return to the party.

ZANU PF Responds To Abortion Of Restructuring Process Reports

Close family sources to Zimbabwe’s former president, Robert Mugabe, have blamed the ruling ZANU PF for the low turn out at Mugabe’s funeral held at Murombedzi Growth Point.
Some close family sources who spoke to the News Day on anonymity claimed that the event attracted low numbers because ZANU PF did not disburse enough resources to mobilise mourners.
News Day reports that very few people from Mugabe’s rural Zvimba came to pay their last respects. The publication also notes that only five buses were at the venue, while top Zanu PF officials from the host province, Mashonaland West, were missing.
Speaking to the News Day, the anonymous source said:
<blockquote>In our view, this was deliberate so that they paint a picture of a Mugabe who had lost support in his own home town. This would kill any attempts to use his name to form a formidable political party that can stand against Zanu PF.</blockquote>
News Day further reports that a member of the Zanu PF youth league executive, who is also a loyalist to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, said that Mugabe’s death was a huge blow to the Generation 40 (G40) faction which is now a registered political party. The anonymous member said that Mugabe would also finance the faction whose members are mostly in exile.
Meanwhile, Justice Minister, Ziyambi Ziyambi defended the low turnout, saying that most people had already attended the funeral at the National Sports Stadium and Rufaro Stadium in Harare.

Mugabe Funeral: Family Says ZANU-PF Wanted To Portray Mugabe Who Had Lost Supporters

Linda Masarira, firebrand political activist and LEAD President has reported his husband, Gilbert Kaingidza to the police for brutally assaulting her over the weekend.
Kaingidza was arrested after Masarira sought police refuge before being taken to a local hospital for attention after the assault.
The Zimbabwe Voice reports that the quarrel was triggered by evidence allegedly discovered by Masarira, suggesting that Kaingidza was an agent of her political rivals who was planted into her life to monitor her.
An anonymous source to the Zimbabwe Voice reported that a man from the former G40 military intelligence has also been singled out to be at the centre of the wrangle.

Linda Masarira Brutally Assaulted By "Spy" Husband

The government has said that some members of Generation 40 (G40) faction who are now scattered around the world can attend the funeral of Zimbabwe’s founding father, Robert Mugabe.
The ZANU PF faction that was warring with team Lacoste, led by President Mnangagwa was believed to be headed by the former first lady, Grace Mugabe.
Some key members of the G40 faction are former Cabinet ministers, Jonathan Moyo, Mandiitawepi Chimene and Saviour Kasukuwere who have skipped the borders of the country following Mugabe’s house arrest.
Speaking to New Zimbabwe, the Secretary of Information, Nick Mangwana said that there were no charges against some members of the faction hence no need to come back into the country. He said:
<blockquote>There are no charges against Patrick Zhuwawo and I am not aware of any charges against Mandi Chimene so there is no reason for them not to come and mourn former President Mugabe.
When it comes to Patrick Zhuwawo, he is certainly free to come and mourn his uncle and if he wants to go back (into exile) then he can do so. But if he chooses to stay, nothing stands in his way.</blockquote>
Mangawana was however reserved when asked whether Jonathan Moyo was free to attend. Moyo is facing corruption charges after he allegedly mishandled US$400 000 belonging to the Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund.

"Some Members Of The G40 Faction Are Free To Attend Mugabe's Funeral" - Govt

Former vice president and leader of the opposition National People’s Party (NPP), Joice Mujuru is reported to have inadvertently admitted that she is working with the Generation-40 (G40) Faction. Speaking at a rally in Bindura last year, Mujuru reportedly said:
<blockquote>There is an issue that is confusing people that I met with Mugabe and that I have returned to Zanu-PF. I did not rejoin Zanu-PF. Be happy that Mugabe realised his mistakes. He is a human being and wanted to gauge the extent of anger against him.
It is true we met. We held hands and prayed. I told him that I have my own party in Mashonaland Central and I am working with G40 members here. He told me that he advised his boys in G40 to work with me. The rude Zanu-PF is gone. He failed to close the barrel of the military tank with his hand.</blockquote>

Zanu PF-aligned cleric and Destiny for Afrika Network founder, Obadiah Musindo has claimed that some of the G40 members were homosexuals whose intent was to legalise the practice in Zimbabwe.
Addressing clerics who are set to benefit from his housing schemes ahead of this year’s election, Musindo hinted the homosexual members were Saviour Kasukuwere and Professor Jonathan Moyo who were labelled gay gangsters by Norton legislator Temba Mliswa.

Joice Mujuru-led People’s Rainbow Coalition (PRC) has denied reports that G40 members were invited or organised a workshop held in Cape Town, South Africa, where opposition parties met to an all inclusive alliance to contest against Emmerson Mnangagwa in the upcoming elections.
PRC secretary for administration and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) secretary-general, Gorden Moyo also took time to dismiss MDC Alliance spokesperson Welshman Ncube’s statement that the meeting in South Africa was for “every Tom, Dick and Harry”. Said Moyo:
<blockquote>For the record, the so-called G40 was never invited to the experience-sharing workshop nor was it part of organising the same. The concerted and choreographed disinformation campaign mounted by Zanu PF leadership and elements of the MDC Alliance can only be noted as an unfortunate, but revealing confluence of interests opposed to broad-based political dialogue and coalition building.
As a principle, the organisers could never acquiesce to the condescending characterisation of other Coalitions in Zimbabwe as meaningless ‘Toms, Dicks and Harrys’ as implied in Professor Ncube’s unfortunate statement of February 8.
At a practical level we were unaware on what basis we were being asked to exclude the other invitees. Were we to use actual votes obtained by party principals since 2008? Or is it parliamentary seats won by a party? In the organisers’ view, a democratic movement should ideally be an inclusive platform not one in which condescension, empty arrogance reign supreme.</blockquote>

Mujuru Denies Reports G40 Participated In Coalition Talks In South Africa

Engineer Tendai Munyanduri has accused ousted Zanu-PF members of stealing his party’s name “New Patriotic Front”.
Munyanduri told The Herald that he notified the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) on January 23 that he had rebranded his Progressive and Innovative Movement of Zimbabwe (PIMZ) to The New Patriotic Front (TNPF). Munyanduri said he would institute legal action if the G40 members proceed to use the name officially. Said Munyanduri:
<blockquote>I rebranded my political party to New Patriotic Front last month and wrote to ZEC to that effect. I appeared in (the local media) last month and I was surprised to read in The Sunday Mail that Mugabe, Grace and Mujuru want to use the same name. Maybe they have liked our name or are probably trying to join us. NPF is home to all those who would like to see our country together with the international community excel. We believe in honesty, professionalism and integrity. We value excellence and have a passion to see our country excel. We will talk to them to desist from using the name and take legal action if necessary.</blockquote>

G40 Members Accused Of Stealing Party Name, Threatened With Legal Action

Vice-President Kembo Mohadi has said the ongoing fight against corruption is not a witch-hunt against members of the G40 cabal.
This comes after MDC-T party’s secretary-general Mr Douglas Mwonzora claimed that the arrests and prosecutions of former Finance and Economic Development Minister Ignatius Chombo and former Zanu-PF Youth League leaders Messrs Kudzanai Chipanga and Innocent Hamandishe “were seemingly selective application of the law.” In an interview with The Chronicle yesterday, Mohadi dismissed Mwonzora’s claims of selective application of the law as “nonsensical” and unfounded. Said Mohadi:
<blockquote>It doesn’t work that way. We are targeting everyone who is a criminal and corrupt and those who are claiming that we are only targeting a certain group of individuals are talking nonsense and their claims are baseless and unfounded. We have courts where the issue of guilt or innocence will be proven. Whatever critics are saying is sheer waste of time as we are forging ahead in the fight against corruption until sanity is restored in all sectors of the economy in line with the Government thrust in the new dispensation.</blockquote>

"ZACC Is Not Targeting G40 Members Only": Mohadi

Ousted G40 members are considering launching a political party called New Patriotic Front ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The party is believed to be spearheaded by former Zanu-PF members Professor Jonathan Moyo, Patrick Zhuwao and Saviour Kasukuwere who are on a self-imposed exile. The party’s consultation document denounces the coup which occurred in November 2017.

Zanu-PF’s secretary for legal affairs Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana has warned that former members of the G40 Faction who have been forgiven and rehabilitated will not able to hold leadership posts within the party. Speaking at a Zanu-PF provincial meeting in Masvingo, Mangwana said:
<blockquote>We will not forget what these people did to us. We were threatened and we feared for our lives because they ran the party mafia style. They walked all over us but we have forgiven them.
The problem comes now when they want to take leadership posts. We will not allow that.</blockquote>
Zanu-PF secretary for youth Pupurai Togarepi also warned the G40 members that while the party was going to forgive them as per the President’s instructions,  they were not going to forget their conduct. Said Togarepi,
<blockquote>The President said we will forgive, but we will not forget. We heard the G40 cabal is telling people that they are invincible because they have survived the chop. We do not want to hear that at all. If you are forgiven do not mistake that for a weakness. We will deal with you.</blockquote>
The G40 faction was bettered by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Team Lacoste in November after the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) intervened in Zanu-PF’s succession fight.  Some of the prominent members of the G40 have been expelled from the party while some have fled into exile.

Forgiven G40 Members Will Not Be Allowed To Hold Leadership Posts: Mangwana

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has denied allegations that the anti-graft body is going after members of the vanquished G40 Faction. This comes after ZACC arrested alleged G40 members, former Minister of Foreign Affairs Walter Mzembi and former Minister of Energy and Power Development Samuel Undenge.
Speaking at the Harare Magistrates’ Court, ZACC investigations committee chairperson Goodson Nguni said:
<blockquote>We are not targeting any members of the so-called G40 faction or any other because we don’t know of any factions within any political parties.
We are following the evidence and complaints from members of the public about what happened.
So the evidence we have been following is very clear if you look at all those that have been picked up by the police.
In some cases, the evidence shows they were just giving their friends money like the in the case of Undenge, former energy minister.
It has nothing to do with any faction.</blockquote>
The arrest of Mzembi and Undenge brings the number of former ministers who have been arrested to five after Ignatius Chombo and Makhosini Hlongwane and Former Minister of State for Midlands Province Jason Machaya. All the accused were aligned to former President Robert Mugabe’s G40 Faction, which was against President Emmerson Mnangagwa succeeding Mugabe. The Mnangagwa administration is yet to make good on its promise by arresting Ministers aligned to Mnangagwa’s own Lacoste Faction.

Speaking to the Daily News, National People’s Party (NPP) leader Joice Mujuru’s spokesperson, Gift Nyandoro, claimed there have been massive defections of G40 members to the NPP.
He accused Zanu PF of “stage-managing” the rejoining of NPP officials to the ruling party. He said that the G40 members that have defected to the NPP would be unveiled at the appropriate time. Said Nyandoro:
<blockquote>The regime is in panic mode because they know they have no idea of turning around the economy hence they have resorted to stage-managing defections that are diluted by massive G40 defections to NPP. We understand, however, that the regime is jittery in the wake of Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland West and Manicaland defections just to mention a few.</blockquote>
A well-placed Zanu PF source told the Daily News yesterday that the party’s Members of Parliament do not feel that they still have a place in the ruling party because they are being shunned for fighting against the Team Lacoste faction in the race to succeed deposed president Robert Mugabe.

Zanu-PF G40 Members Join Joice Mujuru's Party

The African Union (AU) has said that the military takeover codenamed Operation Restore Legacy by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces in November was not a coup. The AU chose to describe the military’s takeover of power as “dialogue between the leadership of the country.” The AU also said that it was not going to take any action Zimbabwe because of the events which occured in November.
AU commissioner for peace and security Smail Chergui told Russian publication Sputnik:
<blockquote>It’s not a coup according to African Union rules because we are the one to declare if someone has made a coup and then apply sanctions… We are neither in a crisis in Zimbabwe nor in an extraordinary situation.
We didn’t lose a single life in this process, totally peaceful and at the end, even the [former] president left with honour.
It was just a dialogue between the leadership of the country and the president and they convinced him that maybe some of the actions taken, including around him and his immediate surrounding, were not good for the country, and he accepted to submit his resignation willingly.

Former cabinet minister and alleged G40 Faction kingpin, Jonathan Moyo, who is reported to have fled the country for Kenya, has been very vocal in criticising the military’s actions as a coup. <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2017/12/08/coup-needs-cure-jonathan-moyo-calls-sadc/">Moyo has called on the African Union and the SADC to fix what he called a historic wrong in Zimbabwe saying that   “A coup needs a cure.”</a> Members of the G40 Faction which was backing former first lady Grace Mugabe have since been expelled from Zanu-PF with Moyo, Saviour Kasukuwere and former president Robert Mugabe’s nephew Patrick Zhuwao preferring to go into exile.

Former Zanu-PF Manicaland youth chairman Mubuso Chinguno who is hiding in South Africa has said that he regrets aligning himself to Grace Mugabe and the G40 Faction. In an interview with NewsDay, Chinguno apologised to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and said that he will return to Zimbabwe when the dust has settled.
Said Chinguno:
<blockquote>When I was in G40 I was misinformed on everything. As youths we followed the G40 blindly. As youths we were young and too small on some actual issues that were happening. I regret that I made certain decisions and statements associated with the G40 cabal based on the inadequate information I had. I thought that as a loyal and dedicated party cadre I was doing the right thing, by supporting the former First Lady, not knowing that she had been compromised.</blockquote>

"I Regret Aligning Myself To Grace Mugabe": Former Zanu-PF Youth Leader

Eight more Zanu-PF legislators are set to be expelled from parliament following the party’s Extraordinary Congress held last Friday where the party adopted a Central Committee Report recommending for their expulsion together with 12 other party members.
The legislators are part of the G40 faction and these are; Paul Chimedza, (Gutu South) Shadreck Mashayamombe (Harare South), Samuel Undenge (Chimanimani East), Makhosini Hlongwane (Mberengengwa East), Sarah Mahoka (Hurungwe East), Walter Mzembi (Masvingo South) Anastancia Ndlovu (proportionate representative), Eunice Sandi Moyo (Senator). Their pending expulsion from parliament is in terms of section 129 (1) of the constitution.
Five other legislators from ZANU-PF were expelled from parliament last month. These are; Savior Kasukuwere (Mount Darwin South), Kudzanai Chipanga (Makoni West), Ignatious Chombo (Zvimba North) Professor Jonathan Moyo (Tsholotsho North) and Mandiitawepi Chimene (Mutasa South).
