A female Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officer tragically died on Saturday, April 12, after being struck by a vehicle while walking along the road in Mazowe.
According to a ZRP statement, Constable Katanha, stationed at ZRP Mazowe, had just finished her shift after a deployment at Dowkins Farm, Concession, when the incident occurred. The ZRP said:

A police officer, Constable Amanda Katanha, stationed at ZRP Mazowe, died on 12/04/25 after being hit by a Toyota Probox vehicle, registration number AGP 8475, with three passengers on board on 12/04/25 at around 1840 hours at the 17 kilometre peg along Mazowe-Centenary Road.
The police officer had been walking on the extreme side of the road with other two other police officers after knocking off duty from a deployment at Dowkins Farm, Concession.

A female police officer in Zimbabwe died after a car hit her while she was walking on the road in Mazowe. Her name was Constable Katanha and she had just finished her shift at work. The car that hit her had three passengers in it. The police said the accident happened at around 6:40 pm along Mazowe-Centenary Road. Constable Katanha was walking on the side of the road with two other police officers when the car hit her.

ZRP Officer Dies After Being Hit By Vehicle

Two female police officers stationed at Chinhoyi Police Station were recently arraigned before the Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court facing corruption charges after they allegedly solicited a bribe from a suspect who was due to appear in court.
It is alleged that on 02 February 2024, Sergeant Theoline Mapako and Constable Gracious Hove solicited a US$100 bribe from Thandeka Chitombo who had been arrested for impersonating a state official (CIO).
The bribe was to ensure that Chitombo gets bail.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said Chitombo advised the police officers that she only had US$32.
They told her that they had already made an arrangement with her father and he had promised to give them US$50.
When Chitombo was given US$50 by her father, the police officers took her to the ladies’ toilets on the court premises where she handed over US$80 as bribe money.
After the transaction, the police officers escorted her to court where she was remanded in custody as the Prosecutor opposed bail.
The matter came to light when Chitombo was denied bail and she reported the issue to the prison officers who then alerted the police.
Mapako and Hove will appear before a magistrate on 19 March for trial.

Two Female Police Officers Receive A Bribe Inside A Court Building

A female police officer tragically lost her life after she was struck by a wheel that had dislodged from the trailer of a moving haulage truck.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) on Monday, 01 January said the police officer was standing on the side of a road when she was fatally hit by the wheel.
The incident occurred at the 51-kilometre peg along Harare-Mutare Road. Police said:

The ZRP confirms the unfortunate death of a Police officer at the 51-kilometre peg along Harare-Mutare Road when a haulage truck registration number ACZ 3265, owned by Shereni Transport, dislodged a trailer wheel.
The wheel hit the female Police officer who was standing on the left side of the road. She passed on, on admission at Borradale Hospital.

In an unrelated incident that occurred on 29 December 2023, Police said Perpetual Muzengembuya (19) and her niece, Lessly Maroka (4 months) died after the house they were in collapsed due to heavy rains at a timber company, in Nyanga South.
