On Saturday, Midlands Provincial Affairs Minister <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Larry_Mavima/">Larry Mavima</a> and politburo member Daniel Mackenzie Ncube fled an angry ZANU PF mob protesting the alleged rigging of the ruling party’s primary elections in Gokwe-Chireya.
The meeting was intended to reconcile the constituency after chaotic primary polls that saw Torerai Moyo announced as the winner despite losing to Jeremiah Ndukulani.
ZANU PF supporters accused Local Government Minister <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/July_Moyo/">July Moyo</a> and ex-State Security Minister <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Owen_Ncube/">Owen “Mudha” Ncube</a> of rigging the internal party polls in favour of Moyo. Chaos erupted when Moyo was introduced as a parliamentary candidate. <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/2022/01/06/gokwe-chief-chireya-demands-3-million-from-subject-for-defamation-of-character/">Chief Chireya</a> addressed the supporters:

When you see him (Mavima), you see the President, when you talk to him, you talk to the President. So I am imploring you to respect and listen to him.
We are all in Zanu PF and I know the committed that I invited are well-behaved. Booing each other happens, but at this party meeting, we came to hear what the minister has to say.
I am the one who invited him to address you. He came here to see the chief, but I asked him to address my people. So why are you booing him before he finishes addressing you?

Despite Chief Chireya’s attempt to calm the crowd, Mavima was forced to leave after being heckled by angry ZANU PF party members.
The party has been struggling to gather crowds for campaign meetings in the Midlands following chaotic primary polls, <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200011907/minister-flees-angry-zanu-pf-mob">NewsDay</a> reported. ZANU PF youth league secretary Tino Machakaire pleaded with party factions to unite ahead of the August polls, addressing a ZANU PF youth inter-district meeting in Zvimba South. He said:

Now that the primary elections are over, those that won and the ones who didn’t make it, it’s time to unite towards the goal to support President Mnangagwa in the upcoming harmonised elections for we are one people.
</blockquote>
He was accompanied by his deputy John Paradza, despite reports of conflict between them.
Zvimba South legislator Phillip Chiyangwa urged party supporters to back Dexter Malinganisa, who defeated him in the primaries. Several officials, including Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi, and Central Committee member Mike Chimombe, also attended the meeting.
The ZANU PF national security department recently ordered all provinces to prohibit party supporters from using WhatsApp and other social media platforms. The ban on social media platforms for allegedly fueling divisions has caused controversy within the ruling ZANU PF party structures ahead of the upcoming elections.

Fuel queues reappeared in Harare this week, with several service stations having run out of petrol, evoking memories of the fuel crisis of late 2018 and 2019 when motorists spent days in queues.
This comes as the festive season draws close when thousands of Zimbabweans traverse the country to their holiday destinations.
Speaking in an interview with NewsDay Weekender on Friday, National Oil Company Infrastructure of Zimbabwe board chairperson Daniel Mackenzie Ncube said the fuel challenges emanated from Mozambique.
He said that an unscheduled maintenance exercise at pumping stations in Mozambique had resulted in fuel shortages in Zimbabwe but the situation should normalise in “a day or two”. Said Mackenzie Ncube:
<blockquote>
We had a problem in Mozambique where they were maintaining the port so they were not pumping.
… We have started pumping now. The problem should normalise in a day or two.
The scheduling in Mozambique caught us offside when they closed the port for maintenance.
</blockquote>
Mackenzie Ncube added that there was very little petrol in stock before Mozambique closed the port and this explains the petrol shortages. He said:

What we were holding was a bit low because of the pricing of petrol, so the dealers tend to sell each time they get fuel. They put it to the market instead of holding some of it.
I can’t tell you in terms of numbers, but for a few days we were not pumping but we normally pump around four million a day, but for diesel, we were holding stocks, but for petrol, our stocks were a bit on the low side and that is why they depleted very quickly.
We have been massaging the problem since last week hoping that it won’t get this far, but fortunately, we are now pumping.

Fuel Queues Resurface In Harare

State Security Minister <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Owen_Ncube">Owen “Mudha” Ncube</a> has reportedly pulled out of the race for the ZANU PF Midlands provincial chairmanship.
Ncube had earlier indicated his intention to challenge the incumbent, Daniel Mackenzie Ncube but he is now supporting former national youth league deputy secretary member Edson Chiherenge Chakanyuka for the post.
ZANU PF Midlands provincial structures are reportedly split along factional lines, with one faction behind Local Government minister<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/July_Moyo"> July Moyo</a>, while the other faction has backs minister in the President’s office <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jorum_Gumbo">Joram Gumbo</a>.
Mudha belongs to the July Moyo camp while Mackenzi-Ncube belongs to Gumbo’s faction, according to insiders. A source told NewZimbabwe.com:

The tussles must be understood in their proper context. We are hearing that Cde Chiherenge is going to run for the provincial post to replace Mackenzie.
However, it must be known that Mackenzie himself is not a pushover. Mackenzie is well respected within the provincial party structures. Even the president has high regard and trust for Cde Mackenzie.
The issue is not about Cde Chiherenge assuming the chairman post, it is about minister Moyo controlling the province.
He needs someone he can trust to do his bidding once elected provincial chairperson. Their view then is that Chiherenge is a perfect man for the job and this is why Mudha has had to drop out.

Last month Moyo stirred up a hornet’s nest after he met with perceived faction ring leaders Mudha, Chiherenge and Vongai Mupereri among others at his farm outside Kwekwe where they reportedly hatched a plan to wrest control of the province.
The meeting prompted Mackenzie-Ncube to issue a statement calling for unity in the party while castigating tribalism and individualism.

Owen Ncube Pulls Out Of ZANU PF Midlands Race

ZANU PF factional politics in the Midlands Province degenerated into a fistfight last weekend, with senior officials exchanging blows in public.
Preparations for the party’s congress next year, which are preceded by restructuring and elections from the grassroots level, have been problematic and marred with intimidation in President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s home province.
A faction aligned to State Security minister Owen “Mudha” Ncube and incumbent chairman Daniel Mackenzie Ncube are battling for party leadership. Both factions claim loyalty to Mnangagwa.
ZANU PF Gweru district secretary for administration Slemani Kwidini was allegedly “heavily assaulted” by central committee member Wellington Magura at a restaurant in the Midlands capital on Saturday.
Kwidini is rallying behind Mudha Ncube while Magura is in the faction backing Mackenzie Ncube.
The matter has since been reported at Gweru Central Police station under CR number 88/10/2021 although none of the people involved are yet to appear in court.
Contacted for comment by The NewsHawks, Kwidini confirmed reporting the alleged assault at Gweru Central Police station.
Magura did not respond to questions sent to him via WhatsApp, although the messages had been delivered to his mobile number.
Mackenzie Ncube also did not respond to enquiries sent to him over the matter.
Milan directors, where the scuffle reportedly took place, banned for three months those involved in the brawl at the restaurant.
A letter signed by two Milan directors, one Richard Murombedzi and Taleeb Mohamed and addressed to Kwidini reads in part:

This has left us with no option but to inform you as an individual and your accomplices Mr Dominic and Mr Jassi.
We do not condone such behaviour totally and your friends as such are not welcome on these premises for a period of three months.
We feel the actions of this group have self-interests totally against the HE (Mnangagwa) mantra of Vision 2030, which we support.

ZANU PF Midlands Leaders In Bruising Fist Fight

Several former ZANU PF members who were chucked out of the party soon after the November 2017 military coup are set to be readmitted to the ruling party.
The ZANU PF Midlands Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) has recommended the readmission of all former party members who belonged to the Generation 40 (G40) faction at the height of factional fights that rocked the former liberation movement before the “military-assisted transition”.
ZANU PF provincial chairman Daniel Mackenzie Ncube said those who have been cleared by the province to re-join the party include former ministers, Chiratidzo Mabuwa and Makhosini Hlongwane, former deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Tapiwa Matangaidze and former Member of Parliament for Gokwe Central Dorothy Mhangami.
Ncube told The Herald that the province has already submitted its recommendation letter to the national office and was confident the recommendations to allow the former members back will be accepted. He said:
<blockquote>We have resolved and said well these are prodigal sons, they were lost, they have learnt a lesson that patriotism and loyalty to the party are key, hence we have recommended that they be brought back into the party.
They have been in the wilderness for some four years and they have learnt a lesson that it’s not easy out there.
We have said let us have them back and we are confident our recommendation will be approved at the national level.</blockquote>
Ncube added that the G40 members will be coming back as mere card-carrying members and nothing more.

ZANU PF Midlands Recommends Admission Of G40 Functionaries

Zimbabwe’s exiled former Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Professor Jonathan Moyo, has warned the Chairman of the National Oil Infrastructure Company (NOIC) of Zimbabwe Board of Directors, Daniel Mackenzie Ncube after the latter denied bribing MDC officials to defect to ZANU PF.
Moyo had accused Ncube of offering goodies to members of the opposition to ditch their party and join the ruling party. Moyo had said:
<blockquote>DANIEL MACKENZIE NCUBE, Chairman of NOIC (Pvt) Ltd Board of Directors &amp; ZanuPF Midlands provincial Chairman, is Mnangagwa’s key moneyman for buying defectors from the MDC in the Midlands &amp; Matabeleland provinces. He was recently rebuffed by Abednico Bhebhe, who’s rejoined MDC-A!</blockquote>
In response, the NOIC chair told local media that Moyo’s allegations were baseless adding that the individuals who were defecting to the ruling party were being lured by “ZANU PF’s progressive policies.”
<blockquote>It doesn’t need one to be a rocket scientist to see that the opposition is falling by its own sword. That’s why in recent months Zanu PF has been receiving opposition members in droves and we will continue to welcome them to the revolutionary party. Zanu PF is a big family and new members are welcome to join us.
Therefore, claims that I have been buying people from the opposition in Midlands and Matabeleland provinces to join Zanu PF are not only ridiculous but also laughable and absurd…. The only convincing which former opposition members need to join Zanu PF are the people-centred policies which are being rolled out by the government not money.</blockquote>
Moyo posted on Twitter tagging local Publication, NewZimbabwe.com which he instructed to “tell Daniel Mackenzie Ncube to be very careful with fire.” <a href="https://twitter.com/ProfJNMoyo/status/1377883584858558467">Moyo added:</a>
<blockquote>He has given trinkets to MDC defectors in the Midlands &amp; offered incentives to some MDC leaders in Matabeleland; saying he has been sent by “H.E” (His Excellency); who wants to take care of them in ZanuPF!</blockquote>
The allegations followed the defection high profile MDC Alliance and MDC-T officials including Obert Gutu, Lilian Timveos and Blessing Chebundo to the ruling party.

"Be Very Careful With Fire," - Jonathan Moyo Warns NOIC Chair

Zanu-PF Midlands chairperson Daniel Mackenzie Ncube has denied allegations by Jonathan Moyo he is paying MDC members from his province and Matabeleland to leave their party for Zanu-PF.
In an interview with NewZimbabwe.com, Ncube said MDC members were leaving their party for Zanu-PF on their own. He said the MDC members were attracted to Zanu-PF’s economic policies which are transforming the livelihood of Zimbabweans. He said:

Claims that I have been buying people from the opposition in Midlands and Matabeleland provinces to join Zanu PF are not only ridiculous but also laughable and absurd. People who are peddling such false narratives in their warped minds should wake up and smell the coffee. The revolutionary train under the command of Cde E D Mnangagwa is now unstoppable.

Daniel Mackenzie Ncube added that MDC is crumbling and that claims that Zanu-PF is paying MDC supporters to join its party were absurd. He said:

Daniel Mackenzie Ncube Responds To Jonathan Moyo, Denies Bribing MDC Members To Join Zanu-PF

Zimbabwe’s exiled former Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Professor Jonathan Moyo has accused the Chairman of the National Oil Infrastructure Company (NOIC) of Zimbabwe Board of Directors, Daniel Mackenzie Ncube of bribing MDC officials to join Zanu PF.
Ncube who is also Zanu PF Midlands provincial chairperson has dismissed the allegations claiming the ruling party had “attractive policies”. Posting on Twitter on Wednesday, Moyo said:

Responding to questions by Nehanda Radio, Ncube said the MDC officials were being lured by good policies being implemented by the ruling party therefore, there was no need for him to bribe anyone. He said:

A number of senior MDC (MDC-T and MDC Alliance) including Obert Gutu, Blessing Chebundo, and Lilian Timveos recently joined ZANU PF with some analysts saying the desertions were for greedy reasons.
Some argue that the ruling party was probably using dirty secrets of members who are defecting to force them to jump the ship.
Others observe that whilst the ruling party did not create the leadership crisis in the MDC, it was obviously capitalising on it to further destabilise the main opposition in the country.

Jonathan Moyo Accuses NOIC Chair Of Buying MDC Members To Join ZANU PF

The son of ZANU PF Midlands provincial chairperson Daniel Mackenzie Ncube was last week killed by a suspected machete gang in Zhombe, Midlands Province.
Brian Mackenzie Ncube, a well-known gold buyer in Zhombe, was murdered on Saturday by a MaShurugwi gang following a gold rush in the Senkwasi area.
His father, Daniel, confirmed the development to NewZimbabwe.com but said details leading to the death of Brian were still unclear as police are still carrying out investigations. He said:
<blockquote>It’s true, last week I lost my son to machete gangs. His name is Brian Mackenzie Ncube.
It’s not quite clear. Gold was discovered at his grandmother’s homestead.
That was the source of the problem. What really happened nobody has a straight answer.</blockquote>
Reports suggest that following a gold rush in Senkwasi near Mackenzie’s homestead on Friday, an unidentified gang called Daniel near the gate later that evening saying that they wanted to confirm something from him.
His friends reportedly became worried after he took long to return before went out to look for him. They found his mutilated body in the early hours of Saturday.

ZANU PF Bigwig's Son Killed By MaShurugwi

The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/National_Oil_Company_of_Zimbabwe_(Noczim)" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">National Oil Infrastructure Company of Zimbabwe (NOIC)</a>, says the fuel supply situation in the country has vastly improved following a raft of measures that were implemented by the government.
Speaking to The Herald, NOIC chairperson, Daniel Mackenzie-Ncube, claimed that fuel queues have disappeared in some parts of the country. He said:
<blockquote>The fuel situation has improved immensely and this is attributed to a combination of factors that are being implemented by Government through its various arms.
As NOIC, we are working round the clock to ensure that fuel supplies improve across the country.</blockquote>
Meanwhile, in major cities, fuel queues can still be observed due to a higher vehicle population, although they have become shorter, Mackenzie-Ncube added.
The country has experienced erratic fuel supplies since October 2018 and the Zimbabwe Energy Regulation Authority (ZERA) increases fuel prices every week.

Fuel Availability Improves Across The Country - NOIC

National Oil Infrastructure Company of Zimbabwe (NOIC) board chairman Engineer Daniel Mackenzie-Ncube said that the banning of the multi-currency system will result in the price of fuel coming down as the foreign currency rates on the parallel market fall.
Mackenzie-Ncube also said that NOIC was working with the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) to secure lines of credit to enable it to import more fuel to meet market demands. He said:
<blockquote>The move by Government to ban the multi-currency system has seen the exchange rates coming down and that movement should be felt in the prices of goods and services, fuel included.
The most important thing is that the black market rate and the interbank market rate are almost similar.
The incentive of selling fuel on the black market has been curtailed because of the currency reforms as initiated by the Ministry of Finance. That has assisted us a great deal.</blockquote>
Energy Minister, Fortune Chasi, last week said that the government is looking for ways to address the channelling of fuel to the black market which has resulted in unending queues at service stations.

Price of Fuel To Come Down - NOIC Board Chair

Some fuel dealers have been accused of causing artificial shortages of the product on the formal market by diverting large volumes of the commodity to the black market.
This was said by the National Oil Infrastructure Company (NOIC) chairman Daniel Mackenzie Ncube.
Mackenzie Ncube believes that there is a need to address the price distortions on the market as Zimbabwe’s fuel is considered to be the cheapest in the region. He said:
<blockquote>There is a need to address the price distortions on the market which is being manipulated by players in the fuel industry to drive up their profit margins by pushing the fuel into the black market.
It is clear that the fuel we release into the market is not being sold on the forecourt at service stations, but rather on the black market.
On Sunday alone, from the Msasa depot, we had loaded 3,386 million litres of diesel and 1,957 million litres of petrol.
This is a combined 5,343 million litres and you would have expected the fuel situation to be stable, but that’s not the case.</blockquote>
