The construction of a multi-purpose sports stadium is set to commence soon in Victoria Falls and the facility is expected to be completed in August next year ahead of the 2027 International Cricket Council World Cup.
The tournament will be co-hosted by Zimbabwe, South Africa and Namibia.
The stadium will also host some sports codes such as football, rugby, tennis, hockey and squash.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to lay the foundation stone to mark the commencement of construction of the stadium.
Speaking at the post-Cabinet briefing on Tuesday in Harare, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Jenfan Muswere said the construction of the facility will create training and employment opportunities for the local communities. Zimbabwe Cricket was allocated 10 hectares of land for the construction of an international cricket stadium and ancillary facilities in the Masuwe Special Economic Zone for Tourism in Victoria Falls.
The project will contribute towards the US$5 billion tourism and hospitality industry by 2025, as well as the development and expansion of sports infrastructure in the country.
Tourism is a key pillar of the Zimbabwean economy and ranks at number three after mining and agriculture, accounting for 12 per cent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product during the period January to September 2023.
The construction of the cricket facilities and associated infrastructure will also create training and employment opportunities for communities in Victoria Falls.

Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Babra Rwodzi said the stadium will be constructed by ZC (Zimbabwe Cricket) who will own the facility for the next 25 years. Said Rwodzi:

The stadium will be completed next year, 2025, in August to allow the work on the grass, which has to be done a year before the World Cup, to take place.
The other sports disciplines that will be conducted in the same stadium will be rugby, tennis, hockey, and squash. They are still looking at other disciplines that can come on board.
There is another ground (B-Arena) to be constructed in the same place for the practice sessions of the teams that will be competing at the World Cup.
Zimbabwe Cricket is funding the construction. Zimbabwe Cricket is leasing the ground on a 25-year agreement with the Government and they will be constructing using their own money.

Stanbic Bank has been commended for its contribution towards junior cricket development by sponsoring the annual Stragglers Junior Cricket Week.
The Stanbic Bank-sponsored Stragglers Junior Cricket Week roars into life this morning as the financial services institution plays its part in grassroots cricket development.
Stragglers Chairlady, Win Ives said Stanbic’s contribution is imperative to the success of Stragglers Junior Cricket Week.  She said:

Among many other areas, Stanbic Bank assists greatly in hosting the development sides that join us. It is the one event of the year where 500 young cricketers can showcase their abilities.

She said this cricket week has been running for over 60 years and applauded Stanbic Bank for being involved for almost half of that period.
During the weeklong event, the budding cricketers from different socio-economic backgrounds rub shoulders in a well-planned cricket experience with youngsters coming from areas as far as Bindura, Shamva and Bulawayo to play limited-overs cricket.
The grade 4 and 5 cricketers play in the morning and the grade 6 and 7s in the afternoon. The players are placed into teams named after cricketing countries – Zimbabwe, West Indies, India, England, Australia, and Sri Lanka to name a few.
Each Country challenges a different country every day during the week in limited overs matches. All cricketers are rotated and every player has a chance to bat and bowl. Certificates are awarded to high-achieving cricketers.
Ives said while this successful model remains, it is fine-tuned every year to ensure its smooth running. She said:

Every year we have budding cricketers who are successful in their school cricketing careers and endeavour to go further after school.
While we do not keep track of all of them, it is always exciting to see some familiar names in the senior school age groups and at national level.

She said Stragglers exposes the development sides to all levels of talent and gives them the opportunity to play the game with sides they would not normally play against.
Ives said Stragglers Junior Cricket Week was designed to share the passion and the love of the cricket game adding that this is achieved annually as the young cricketers leave the week wanting to play more and having established firm friendships around the game. Said Ives:

She said the beauty about Stragglers Junior Cricket week is that the players get to play as many as five games throughout the week as well as getting to bat and bowl, shaping the young ones into all-round players.
The junior cricketers are exposed to high-level cricket under the guidance of some of the country’s top coaches as well as some members of the Chevrons who come to give some cricketing tips.
Stragglers Junior Cricket Week takes place every August during School holidays at Hartmann House and St George’s College as a way of allowing the young players to let off steam after a demanding second school term.

Stanbic Bank Commended For Promoting Junior Cricket Development

South African broadcaster, DStv, has secured the right to broadcast the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL).
The development gives Zimbabwe’s cricket fans an opportunity to watch local hero Sikandar Raza live in action in the IPL.
According to <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/sport/article/200009585/supersport-to-broadcast-razas-ipl-gig">NewsDay</a>, Raza became the fourth Zimbabwean to sign for an IPL side after Tatenda Taibu, Raymond Price, and Brendan Taylor.
The Indian Premier League is a men’s Twenty20 cricket league held annually in India.
On Friday, SuperSport announced that they will broadcast all the matches for this edition of the IPL. It said:

Following updated conversations with the rights holder, DStv can confirm that all Indian Premier League matches in 2023 will be broadcast on SuperSport.
Your World of Champions SuperSport reached a commercial agreement with the rights holders to broadcast the IPL, starting today (yesterday).

All 74 matches of the 16th tournament will be broadcast live. Marc Jury, chief executive of SuperSport, said:

SuperSport Secures Rights To Broadcast Indian Premier League

Zimbabwe national cricket team fielding coach, Shepherd Makunura, has died.
Makunura, who was also Southern Rocks mentor, passed away at West End Hospital in Harare on Thursday morning. He had been ill for some time.
Makunura missed the International Cricket Council World Cup that was held between October and November due to ill health.
A Zimbabwe Cricket official confirmed Makunura’s death to <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/sport/article/200005046/zim-cricket-coach-dies">NewsDay</a> on Thursday morning.
Zimbabwe national cricket team batsman Tadiwanashe Marumani paid tribute to Makunura in a Twitter post. He wrote:

Zimbabwe Cricket Coach Dies

Zimbabwe and Namibia are set to jointly host the 2026 edition of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup.
Sri Lanka will host the tournament in 2024, while the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 will be held in Malaysia and Thailand, and the 2027 event will be jointly hosted by Bangladesh and Nepal.
Fourteen teams will take part in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 and the qualification pathways, a<a href="https://www.icc-cricket.com/news/2907502">s reported by ICC</a>, are as follows:

The qualification pathway for the 14-team ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 was also confirmed with 10 teams set to gain automatic qualification.

Zimbabwe, Namibia To Host 2026 ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup

The curtain came down on the week-long Stanbic Bank-sponsored Stragglers junior cricket development extravaganza on Friday with over 500 junior cricketers enjoying top-notch cricketing tips.
The Stragglers Cricket Junior cricket programme resumed with a bang on Monday after a two-year COVID19-induced break as the budding cricketers aged between 9 and 12 years old played a game a day in an unprecedented exposure to all-round cricket in which all players get to bat and bowl.
Stragglers Cricket Chairperson, Winn Ives, hailed Stanbic Bank for propping up the week-long event over the years to date, saying the institution’s gesture to provide venue hire funding, t-shirts, caps and balls as well as meals for the cricketers was a financial relief on preparations. Said Ives:

We commend Stanbic Bank for offering full support for all the development sides from Glen View, Chitungwiza, Bindura and Shamva.
They are only coming here with their equipment while everything else is provided by the bank. We cannot thank Stanbic bank enough.

She said it was good to be back after a two-year break adding that the same format in which all the cricketers were given opportunities to bat and bowl continued giving the players maximum exposure to all cricket styles.
One of the coaches of the development sides from Glenview, Jeffrey Makoni said he was grateful for the exposure his cricketers received.
Makoni commended the format in which cricketers from elite schools mix and mingle with those from high-density suburbs and are drafted into the same teams bringing a spirit of camaraderie to players from different walks of life. Makoni said:

This is an experience of a lifetime for our players who get to play on top-quality pitches and get to rub shoulders with students of other races.
Nothing can take this experience from them and all thanks to Stanbic Bank who made sure that they are properly kitted.

The coach for another development side from Bindura and Shamva in Mashonaland Central, Lazarus Ruzawi echoed Makoni’s sentiments saying their pitches in Bindura left a lot to be desired and getting to play in the lush green lawn was a dream come true for the cricketers.

Curtain Comes Down On Stragglers Junior Cricket Week

Zimbabwe’s leading junior cricket development programme, Stragglers Junior Cricket Week, kicks off today after a two-year COVID 19-induced lull.
Stanbic Bank sponsors the week-long event in which budding cricketers between ages 9 to 12 from different socio-economic backgrounds rub shoulders in a well-planned cricket experience.
The budding cricketers are put through their paces by seasoned cricketers including players from the National Cricket Team and the country’s leading coaches.
Hosted at Hartmann House and St George’s College, the event is held every August School Holidays as a way to give the young cricketers a breather after the rigours of school during the just-ended second term.
Stanbic Bank Head Brand and Marketing, Palmer Mugavha said it felt good that Stragglers is back after the two-year break and all stakeholders were raring to go. Said Mugavha:

Stanbic Sponsored Stragglers Junior Cricket Returns After 2-year Hiatus

The Indian cricket fans expressed their unhappiness after the team management dropped bowler Deepak Chahar for the second ODI match against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club.
Chahar was the Player of the Match winner in India’s dominating 10-wicket win on Friday. 
Indian captain KL Rahul did not give any reasons for dropping him from the playing XI. He was replaced with a player called Shadur.

Indian Fans Unhappy About Dropping Fast Bowler In Second ODI Against Zimbabwe

India beat Zimbabwe by 10 wickets in the first One Day International cricket match in Harare today. Resultantly, India leads 1-0 in the three-match ODI series.
Zimbabwe bat first and got 189 runs in 40 overs.
Zimbabwe Cricket has struggled in recent years but saw a but recently has been on the rise. Zim recently defeated Bangladesh in both the ODI and T20I series and also won the regional T20 Qualifiers to qualify for the T20 World Cup.
According to reports, the Indian team rested most of its experienced players due to workload management and is having its younger players play in the series.
Zimbabwe is being captained by Regis Chakabva.

India Beats Zimbabwe by 10 Wickets in First ODI

The neighbours and friends of the late cricket coach, Procter Saurombe, believe he was murdered and left hanging on a gate to stage an accidental death.
Saurombe’s body was found hanging from the main gate of his house, in Glen Norah on Monday and it was initially thought that he lost his balance trying to scale the gate and got impaled by spikes on the gate.
The body was facing downwards, with his pair of shorts still hanging to the sharp-edged hooks, on the iron gate.
Saurombe had spent the day socialising with friends, many of them are involved in cricket either as players or coaches.
Police officers, who attended the scene, searched Saurombe’ss body and found the keys to the gate and the house in his pockets but his mobile phones were missing.
Family members have queried how someone, who had the gate keys in his pocket, could have attempted to climb the gate.
Speaking to H-Metro, Saurombe’s sister, Pamela Chidemo, said there was no doubt his brother was murdered. She said:

I am certain that this was murder considering that he had his keys in his pocket, but his phones are missing.
Some are saying he was drunk and got hurt while jumping over the gate, but haasati ambodhakwa zvekutadza kuziva zvaari kuita.
When we found him hanging, we noticed froth coming out of his mouth, so we suspect that he was, somehow, suffocated.
We will just wait for post-mortem results to tell us what transpired because I can’t accept that he died because of loss of blood from a wound on the leg.

Pamela also revealed that his brother was once threatened by some people from his neighbourhood. The threatening message, which she showed to H-Metro, read:

The publication also reported sources as saying Saurombe recently had a misunderstanding with his lover over money.
The lover, it was claimed, was arrested and thrown into police cells.
At the time of his death, Saurombe was a cricket coach at his former school, Prince Edward School in Harare.
He was also doing part-time coaching for individuals.
He was 43.

Family Believes Ex-Cricket Player, Procter Saurombe, Was Murdered

Ex-cricketer Procter Saurombe, died on Monday after he was reportedly pierced by sharp security spikes on his family home’s gate, which he was trying to jump over.
Saurombe reportedly returned home in Glen Norah in the wee hours of Monday after a night of drinking.
The former Old Hararians fast bowler’s lifeless body was found hanging on one spike after failing to scale the gate.
Saurombe was raised in Glen Norah and was introduced to cricket at Shiriyedenga Primary School in the area through the Zimbabwean cricket board’s grassroots development programme.
He was granted a cricket scholarship at Prince Edward School in the early ’90s.
At Prince Edward, Saurombe rose through the different age groups, up to the first team, touring the United Kingdom with the side in 1995.
At the time of his death, Saurombe was umpiring club matches and had also had been coaching cricket at his former school, Prince Edward, for a number of years.
He was 43.

Ex-cricketer Dies Trying To Jump Over Gate

Three Sri Lanka players at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2021 have tested positive for COVID-19 and are isolating.
Two of the players are experiencing mild symptoms, whilst the third is asymptomatic. All three are isolating and receiving the appropriate medical care.
The players tested positive following a screening of all team members after one player showed mild symptoms, as per the bio-secure protocols in place to ensure the safety of all participants.
The remainder of the Sri Lanka squad are negative but are currently isolating as a precaution.
They will all be re-tested ahead of their opening match against the Netherlands on Tuesday.
The nine-team event, which got underway in Harare today, runs from this month to December.
ICC Head of Events Chris Tetley said the event would be proceeding as planned. He said:

We have playing squads of 15 at the event, which allows for injuries and illness, including COVID-19 to be managed, and in addition, teams have had the option of bringing travelling reserves with them.
As you would expect, the remainder of the squad are being closely monitored and they will all be re-tested ahead of taking to the field on Tuesday.
The event bio-security plan provides us with protocols to manage positive tests effectively with the intention of enabling the event to proceed whilst keeping all other players and participants safe.

Sri Lanka play the Netherlands in their opening match on Tuesday with their remaining Group A matches on Saturday (vs the West Indies) and Monday (vs Ireland).
Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand, Zimbabwe and the USA form Group B, with three sides from each group making it to the Super Six stage, in which the final placings will be decided.

Three Sri Lanka Cricket Players Test Positive For Coronavirus In Zimbabwe

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday announced that the 2027 men’s Cricket World Cup will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
It will be the first time that the 50-over tournament, which is held every four years, will be held on the African continent since 2003.
In 2003, venues in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya were used to host the prestigious event.
Reacting to the announcement, Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) chairman <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Tavengwa_Mukuhlani">Tavengwa Mukuhlani</a> said:

The 2003 tournament was slightly overshadowed by England and New Zealand refusing to travel to play in Zimbabwe and Kenya respectively because of security concerns.
Despite those refusals, Pakistan, Netherlands, Australia, India and Namibia all played in Zimbabwe while Sri Lanka travelled to face Kenya in Nairobi.
Recently Zimbabwe successfully hosted the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, having already been given the rights to stage the same qualifiers for the next edition next year.

Zimbabwe To Co-host 2027 Cricket World Cup

Zimbabwe will host the Women’s Cricket World Cup qualifier between 21 November to 5 December, the International Cricket Council announced on Thursday.
The 10-team tournament, the schedule for which will be announced in due course, decides three qualifiers for next year’s women’s World Cup to be held in New Zealand from 4 March to 3 April.
They will join five sides who have already qualified through the ICC Women’s Championship – Australia, England, India, South Africa and hosts New Zealand.
The three qualifiers as well as the next two teams will also ensure places in the next ICC Women’s Championship (IWC) along with the top five from last time, as the number of teams in the third cycle of the IWC goes up from eight to 10 teams.
The teams that will be seen in action in the fifth edition of the tournament are Bangladesh, Ireland, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the United States, the West Indies and Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe Cricket Chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani said:

The Zimbabwe National Prosecuting Authority will investigate Heath Streak to determine if any criminal activity took place with regards to his <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2021/04/14/heath-streak-banned-from-all-cricket-for-8-years/">ICC ban today</a>.
Streak admitted to 5 charges of breaching the ICC Anti Corruption Code.
Here’s the full text of the Sports and Recreation Commission statement released today:

BANNING OF HEATH STREAK FROM ALL FORMS OF CRICKET BY THE INTERNATIONAL CRICKET COUNCIL.
The Ministry of Youth Sports, Art &amp; Recreation (‘the Ministry’) and the Sports And Recreation Commission (‘SRC) have been notified of the International Cricket Council’s decision to ban former Zimbabwe cricket captain and coach, HEATH STREAK, from cricket. for EIGHT years after he accepted five charges of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.
The Ministry has requested the National Prosecuting Authority to ascertain whether any of the criminal laws in Zimbabwe, particularly those relating to corruption, have been breached by Heath Streak in order that appropriate action is also taken locally by the NPA.
The public is advised that the Sports Integrity bill is under consideration with the Attorney-General’s Office after Cabinet approved of the principles thereof last year. The purpose of the final bill, once enacted into law, Is to provide for clearly defined criminal offences as relating to sport in Zimbabwe.
It remains the Ministry and SRC’S position that there is zero tolerance for corruption and bad governance in our sport and all such instances of corruption are hereby condemned in the strongest possible terms. In this respect, the decision of the ICC in relation to the banning of HEATH STREAK is fully supported and endorsed.

FULL TEXT: Zim To Investigate Heath Streak For Corruption Crimes In Cricket Scandal

Pakistan will become the first men’s international cricket side to play in Zimbabwe in the post-COVID-19 era when they announced the schedule of their two-Test and three T20I series.
Pakistan will travel to Zimbabwe with the same 35-man squad they have taken to South Africa.
The Pakistan side will arrive in Harare from Johannesburg on April 17, where the five matches will take place from April 21-May 11.
After the T20Is, Babar Azam’s side will play Zimbabwe in two Tests, the first of which will begin on April 29.
All the fixtures will take place in a bio-secure bubble in Harare behind closed doors.
Director – International Cricket, Zakir Khan said the tour underscores the Pakistan Cricket Board’s commitment to play an active role in ensuring that international cricket remains on track in these challenging and uncertain times. He said:

Sri Lanka on Tuesday named a 15-member squad for the two-match Test series in Zimbabwe, the first in the African nation since its suspension was lifted by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Following the suspension of Zimbabwe Cricket by the International Cricket Council for government interference, the country’s women’s team is pleading for the resolution of the impasse.
The team manager Samu Nkiwane spoke to Aljazeera’s Haru Mutasa:

But his pay would come in as $600 cause so and so had a direct debit on their account pretty much. I saw the pain as he told me. I am also to blame as I never came forward. But this greed runs deeper amongst players. It was in 2014/15 season when i realised i was done…
We had not been paid for about 3 months. We were on strike and formed a players union. We sat out a scheduled game and amidst that, a senior player (one of the big 5) was phoning me instructing me as Captain to get the boys on the park. I had none of it, my team mates backed me
As a group of players we agreed the payout for the World Cup must be shared amongst all Players in the country..We started playing againon this principle. Yet when the money came in and the 15 national guys split it amongst themselves with the big 5 pocketing over USD400k each!
No franchise player got a bite and the issue was never addressed. We only got paid our outstanding salaries.. Life went on. I was tired of fighting and knew guys wont fight with, why, because the vast majority of players in the system have no plan B. Its ZC money or nothing..
Players in Zim are like littl children.. Cry so much when there is no food.. They get crumbs and then suddenly all is forgotten.. Only when they broke will they want to complain. This hand to mouth mentality needs to stop. Cricketers need to be buying houses and not 2nd hand cars
As a peofessional athlete you can never perform with a $600 salary.. When : gym membership is $100 Proper diet $250 Rent $300 &amp; more. You start taking short cuts which lead to poor performances. You think Virat K worries about gym membership fees? Recent results are no suprise..
We played Afghan A team in 2015 and their daily allowances were about 5 times ours.They an Associates.Are we suprised they in the world cup? Cricket is a game that needs one to be in a good frame of mind to perform.Sad the economy does not help but until when will sport struggle?
My plea is that this ban be a time that players unite (for once) and get what they truly deserve. As long as players do not stand up and be counted, we will soon be like Kenya, a team that once was…For the longest time, players have allowed trash like treatment . Wake up!

Olonga also said that no minister is capable of changing Zimbabwe alone and that Zimbabweans need to be patient when someone is genuinely trying. He however admited that <a href="https://twitter.com/docfarai/status/1152130749677658112">he may be out of touch with the situation in the country</a>.

"She's Trying" - Former Zim Cricket Star Henry Olonga Defends Kirsty Coventry Following ICC Ban

The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) and Zimbabwe Cricket are in a fight following a recent Annual General Meeting where <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2019/06/15/zimbabwe-cricket-elects-new-board-despite-government-calling-off-agm/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Zimbabwe Cricket elected a new board</a>. The AGM and election were held on 15 June despite the government, through the SRC, calling it off.
Defending the holding of the AGM, acting managing director Givemore Makoni wrote to the SRC:
<blockquote>“ZC fulfilled its mandate and obligation to the ICC and remained compliant with the ICC constitution … our letter and subsequent actions by way of an SRC board resolution to suspend the ZC elective AGM could be viewed by the ICC as government interference which would be in violation of Article 2.4 0 of the ICC constitution …”</blockquote>
On Friday, 21 June, the government issued a press statement announcing the suspension of the newly-elected Zimbabwe Cricket board and Makoni over its failure to suspend the AGM.
The statement essentially said that Zimbabwe Cricket applied to and was registered as a sports association by the SRC and that the SRC, therefore, has authority over how the organisation is run. The SRC also used then announced the appointment of an interim board.
Part of the statement reads:

SUSPENSION OF ZIMBABWE CRICKET BOARD
The Sports and Recreation Commission (`SRC’) is a corporate body established by an Act of Parliament known, in its short form, as the Sports And Recreation Commission Act [Chapter 25:15].
Summarized, its statutory mandate constitutes the SRC as being the authority responsible for the registration and regulation of ALL sport and recreation in Zimbabwe.
The SRC exercises its authority primarily through ensuring for the adherence by registered national associations and clubs of their respective constitutions and regulations, particularly in relation the election of office bearers and financial management.
From a national perspective, it is the SRC that authorizes the award and wearing of all national colours, the undertaking of any tours, within and without, Zimbabwe, in respect of the disciplines falling under its jurisdiction.
The omission in the past, for whatever reason, to ensure for rigorous compliance by national sports associations, and clubs, in regard to their respective constitutions has manifest itself in depressingly visible examples today.
Many sporting codes are riddled with intrigue and controversy all stemming from constitutional and governance deficiencies, including, to say the least, poor financial management.
It has been the disturbing trend that, as a result of these deficiencies, recourse has been made, often at the eleventh hour, to Government by the affected associations seeking funding for activities many months within the prior knowledge of those that should be responsible for the adequate planning of these events.
The great irony arising from this state of affairs is that whereas it is perfectly acceptable to seek recourse to public funds from Government to subsidize what is clearly the result of plain incompetence on the part of these national sports associations, the reciprocal requirement by the SRC for greater compliance and transparency in the activities of the affected association, where public funds have been used, is touted as an example of unwanted Government interference.
Zimbabwe Cricket applied for registration as a national sports association responsible for the administration of the game of cricket in Zimbabwe. The application was made to the SRC, which upon due consideration thereof, registered Zimbabwe Cricket.
In doing so, Zimbabwe Cricket placed itself under the jurisdiction and authority of the SRC in relation to its adherence to, inter alia, its own constitution, governance and financial structures, its administration of the game of cricket including the awarding of national colours and undertaking of inward and outward tours.
…It is matter of documented public knowledge that ZC has been the subject matter of several controversies over the years. There have been allegations of outright disregard for its own constitution, neglect of the development of the game and related infrastructure throughout the country.
The SRC hereby suspends, with immediate effect, the entire board of ZC ostensibly elected as such on June 14, 2019 in Victoria Falls … suspends, with immediate effect, the acting MD… the SRC in terms of Section 30 (2) of the SRC Act hereby appoints an interim committee to administer the affairs of ZC with the assistance of the ICC, which is, additionally, hereby requested.</blockquote>

Sports & Recreation Commission And Zimbabwe Cricket Fight As Newy Elected Board Is Suspended

The Rwanda senior ladies national cricket team has started preparations ahead of the World Cup qualifiers tournament to be held in Zimbabwe from May 3 – 13.
The Rwanda team captain Sarah Uwera said:
<blockquote>The training is going well. We are working hard to be ready for some really strong teams come May in Zimbabwe</blockquote>
Zimbabwe was awarded is hosting the Africa regional qualifying tournament for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020. Nine teams  – Zimbabwe, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Uganda – will participate in the Africa Qualifier tournament.
