A two-month-old infant tragically died after being accidentally struck on the head with a log by her father during a domestic dispute on Monday in Kodzwa Village, Chiweshe.
It is alleged that Tapiwa Masache, 26, intended to hit his wife with the log but missed, striking their daughter instead, which led to her death.
In a separate incident on Saturday, a 30-year-old man was fatally stabbed in the chest during an altercation over beer at a bar in Chiredzi.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed both incidents in a statement which reads:

The ZRP is investigating two separate cases of murder which occurred in Chiweshe and Chiredzi.
In the first incident which occurred on 24/11/24 at Kodzwa Village, Chiweshe, a two-month-old infant was fatally struck on the head with a wooden log by her father, Tapiwa Masache (26).
The suspect had intended to assault his wife with the log during a domestic dispute but missed her. The victim was rushed to a hospital in Glendale, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival. The suspect is currently on the run.
In the second incident, which occurred on 23/11/24 at a bar in Chiredzi, Wilson Mashaya (30) was stabbed to death with a knife in the chest by a suspect identified as Mupfuka after an argument over beer. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.

Man Accidentally Kills Own Child During A Dispute With Wife

A motorist from Chiweshe reportedly panicked and fled a police roadblock in Glendale and left his car behind with 360g of marijuana on the block.
The motorist, Vitas Chigwanda (27), was later taken to Concession magistrates courts, where he appeared before magistrate Joshua Nembaware.
<h3>What Happened?</h3>
On July 13, the police stopped Chigwanda at the 40-kilometre peg along the Glendale-Chiweshe highway. Chigwanda panicked, disembarked from the car, and fled. The police searched the vehicle and found 360g of dagga. Chigwanda returned to the scene several hours later and was subsequently arrested. He was remanded in custody until July 17.
<h3>Growing, Possession and Use of Marijuana / Dagga / Mbanje in Zimbabwe</h3>
In Zimbabwe, the production, use, and possession of marijuana are strictly regulated by the government. While the use of marijuana for medicinal and scientific purposes has been decriminalised, it is still illegal to grow, possess, or use marijuana for recreational (enjoyment/pleasure) purposes.
In 2018, the Zimbabwean government allowed for the legal production of industrial hemp, a strain of the cannabis plant that contains very low levels of THC, the psychoactive compound in marijuana. <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/2020/09/19/marijuana-growing-regulations-gazetted/">Statutory Instrument 218 Agricultural Marketing Authority (Industrial Hemp) Regulations</a>, gazetted in 2018 by the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement Anxious Masuka, does not legalise the production or use of marijuana for recreational purposes, as the use of marijuana for non-medical purposes remains illegal in Zimbabwe.
SI 218 provides for three types of permits for growers, namely general growers’, research and breeding, and industrial hemp merchant’s permits.

Motorist Flees Leaving Car With Marijuana At A Police Roadblock

Machete-wielding men attacked and killed a man only identified as Tinashe at a squatter camp near China Zim Gold Mill, Zvishavane, on Tuesday 15 November 2022.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) which is already investigating the case says five unknown suspects, armed with machetes, knives and logs, attacked Tinashe who sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. 
In a different case, Police in St Alberts arrested Rangarirai Mafigu (28) on Monday 15 November 2022 in connection with the murder of his brother Chriswell Mafigu (26).
It is alleged that Rangarirai struck his brother once on the head with a hoe after a misunderstanding over the sharing of money they had worked for at a farm in Chiweshe. The amount is not stated.
Chriswell sustained a deep cut on the head and died on the spot.
Meanwhile, ZRP Marondera arrested Lovemore Chishiri (44) in connection with the murder of his ex-wife, Spiwe Chishiri (41).
Lovemore allegedly assaulted  Spiwe to death after finding her with a boyfriend at Lower Paradise on Tuesday 15 November 2022.

Man Attacked And Killed By Machete-wielding Gang Near China Zim Gold Mill

A duo has been arrested in Chiweshe after stealing 375 litres of diesel and seven (7) tonnes of gold ore from Rosa 10 Mine.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) say the duo, Tawanda Kedius Takaendesa (38) and Takesure Motsi (32) pounced on the mine at around 1930 hours local time on Friday. Reads the police statement on the case:

The suspects, together with one Lawrence Shereni, still at large, pounced at the mine while armed with an unidentified pistol and fired one shot on the ground before calling a group of unknown male adults to invade the mine. They allegedly vandalised floodlights at the mine and chased away the security guards before stealing 375 litres of diesel and seven tonnes of gold ore. 
The security guards apprehended the two suspects, and the Police impounded a Mercedes Benz (AFK 8474) and a BMW (AFA 9417) they used in committing the offence.

Zimbabwe is reportedly losing millions of dollars through smuggling. 
Penhalonga, where artisanal miners and a company owned by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ally, Scott Sakupwanya are extracting the metal, is one of the areas <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2022/06/19/csos-demand-parliament-probe-into-penhalonga-gold-leakages/">where leakages are said to be prevalent.</a>
This is happening as the country has insufficient resources to fund its operations.

Duo Steals 375L Of Diesel And 7t Of Gold Ore

Police in Chiweshe are hunting for three male villagers who allegedly assaulted a suspected goat thief to death on Saturday.
Denmore Taruvinga, Henry Chaparadza and Aluwis Chigure are on the run in connection with a murder case after they allegedly assaulted Jokonia Makumbe to death, accusing him of stealing a goat.
<blockquote>
Mashonaland Central police spokespersons Inspector Milton Mundembe confirmed the case. Mundembe said: 

I can confirm a murder case in Chiweshe where three male adults assaulted the now deceased Makumbe with logs and open hands thereby killing him on the spot.
We are appealing  for information  which can lead to the arrest of the suspects.

It is alleged the trio teamed up after receiving a tip-off that the deceased had stolen their goat.
They picked him at a certain homestead where he was drinking beer and dragged him to his home while beating him up.
Upon arrival, they searched his homestead for goat meat at the place and could not find any.
They further dragged him away from his house and fatally assaulted him.
The body of the deceased was found soaked with blood by his brother Paradzai Magwede who filed a police report.
Surprisingly, the missing goat was found in the bush tied to a tree.
Police warned members of the public not to take the law into their own hands by discharging instant justice.

Man Assaulted To Death Over Goat Theft Allegations, Goat Found

A Chiweshe-based tout (Hwindi) was allegedly killed by a commuter omnibus (Kombi) conductor in a horrific accident that occurred after the two exchanged blows on Wednesday.
Mashonaland Central deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Naison Dhliwayo reported that the now-deceased, Nigel Dyariwa, had a misunderstanding with Victor Nyainga, a conductor and fought physically. Dhliwayo said:
<blockquote>The conductor and the now-deceased had a misunderstanding and the two fought. The kombi driver, Patson Rande, disembarked from the driver’s seat to restrain the two from fighting.
The conductor ran to the driver’s seat and drove away while Dyariwa latched onto the driver’s door precariously. During the fracas, the conductor failed to control the kombi and hit a tree and the vehicle overturned and landed on top of Dyariwa, thereby killing him on the spot.</blockquote>
The tout’s body was ferried to Concession Hospital for post-mortem.
Police always urge members of the public to resolve their issues amicably.
Meanwhile, private-owned Kombis that are not contracted to the Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (ZUPCO) <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2021/04/08/kombi-operators-bemoan-zupcos-outrageous-daily-targets/">are still banned from the roads</a> also though operators have been violating that legislation.
Recently, a Masvingo man broke his leg after being thrown out of a kombi that was engaged in a high-speed chase with a police vehicle at Caravan Park recently.

Tout Killed In Horrific Kombi Accident

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Nicholas_Zakaria">Nicholas Madzibaba Zakaria</a>‘s father has died, The Herald reports. Sekuru Maluwa Chekani Zakaria passed on at his home in Chiweshe on Saturday after a long illness.
Confirming his death Sungura musician Madzibaba said:
<blockquote>Death is always painful, but in this loss we are also celebrating his life. Very few people live up to 100 years and we want to thank God for giving our father such a long life. He saw his great-grandchildren and that is a rare privilege.
He taught us values of life and he was there to see his children impart the same wisdom to their children and grandchildren. We will forever cherish the many days we had with the old man and we wish him a peaceful rest.</blockquote>
The late sekuru Zakaria was born on 1 January 1920.

Nicholas Zakaria's 100 Year Old Father Dies

A 38-year-old Chiweshe man drowned in a flooded Mazamba River on Saturday night while on his way to buy Kachasu. The man tried to wade across the raging stream only to be swept away.
The body of Brian Muchemwa of Mfuka Village under Chief Chiweshe was found floating in the river on Tuesday, three days after he tried to cross the flooded river.
Mashonaland Central provincial police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe confirmed the incident. He said:
<blockquote>I can confirm the death of a kachasu imbiber Brian Muchemwa, who drowned in a river in Chiweshe on Saturday night while trying to cross to the next village to drink beer. The body was retrieved on Tuesday and it was in a decomposing state.
… Tragedy struck after Muchemwa refused to abandon the trip when heavy rains started to fall. The two were going for their usual beer drink, but they parted ways when Zanamwe sought shelter, while the latter kept going.</blockquote>
