The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Energy_Distribution_and_Transmission_Company">Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC)</a>, a subsidiary of the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) has issued a power outage update for the Harare region. 
In an update seen by Pindula News, ZETDC said there is a Mail Line fault which authorities are working on in the areas listed below. The power outage update issued on March 5, 2023, said the areas affected are:

Chikurubi, Support Unit, Chishawasha, Donnybrook, Mandara, Greendale, Part of Chisipite, Part of Highlands, Gletwin, Part of Msasa Industrial Area, Msasa GMB, TM Pick and Pay, Greendale Part of Greendale, Letombo Park, Coronation Avenue, Cecil Road, Athlone Road, Amby Drive and the surrounding areas.
</blockquote>
 Added the company:
<blockquote>
Customers are advised to treat all circuits as LIVE during this period as power may be restored without notice. Our teams are working to ensure full restoration of service in the shortest possible time.
</blockquote>
In another update, ZETDC also said the power outage experienced in Gunhill, Harare and the surrounding areas yesterday the 4th of March 2023 was a result of a cable fault in the area. Said ZETDC:

Power Outage Update Harare Region

The Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Ziyambi Ziyambi on Thursday described CCC leader Nelson Chamisa as a pathological liar after the opposition leader told journalists that he had been barred from meeting jailed CCC activists by the ZANU PF politician.
On Thursday Chamisa visited Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison to see jailed opposition MPs Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole and 14 other CCC activists who have all been languishing in remand prison at Chikurubi since June.
Chamisa said that after being made to wait at the jail for more than two hours, the officer in charge, one Hukurume, informed him that he had been instructed by Ziyambi that he (Chamisa) will not be allowed to see Sikhala and the other CCC activists.
However, speaking to <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/2022/10/ziyambi-slams-pathological-liar-chamisa-dragging-name-into-prison-circus/">ZimLive</a>, Ziyambi castigated Chamisa for trying to drag him into the matter. He said:

That guy is a pathological liar; who did I give that instruction to? I am not even aware of his request to go and visit the prison.
I do not stoop that low to go down to administer regulations on who is supposed to go to prison and who should not.
I have never been asked for permission for relatives to visit prisoners. I am actually hearing it from you that he is saying I denied him entry, when? I am very busy.
Chamisa is a politician; he plays to the gallery. I don’t know about it.
Call the officer in charge and ask him about it. I think that is the fairest thing that you can do because you want me to comment on hearsay. Call the actual person.
I cannot comment on hearsay. He never came to me but he is accusing me of things that happened when I was not there.
I have not spoken to any prison officer concerning Chamisa.

Chamisa’s visit to Chikurubi on Thursday came after Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services Chief Director Legal Resources and Corporate Affairs Commissioner Willie Risiro granted him permission to visit his comrades.
The CCC leader’s first attempt to visit the prison was denied two weeks ago, prompting him to engage lawyers to demand access.

Ziyambi Brands Chamisa "A Pathological Liar" After Prison Circus

A man from Mandeya Village, Ward 11 under Chief Chidawanyika in Manicaland Province did the unthinkable – spending 8 years living on top of a Blair toilet from the time he was released from Chikurubi Maximum prison.
The man who is now 39 years old was jailed after he killed his brother during a heated argument over food, his mother told Karanganda TV.
Following his release during a presidential amnesty, the ex-convict took to sleeping on the roof of the Blair toilet.
Initially, his family attempted to make him come down, but eventually quit trying.
His mother Mbuya Tsogodo, said she would give him food, blankets and other essentials while he was on the roof of the toilet, a development which the village head, Sabhuku Mandeya confirmed.
The man finally came down from the Blair toilet this year after his younger brother, who was frustrated with the situation, demolished part of the Blair toilet, making the structure unstable.
He is now staying in a partially completed house though villagers said that his body now seems deformed from living on the roof for so long.
When asked why he was staying on the roof of the toilet, the man said he was afraid of snakes.
He said that when he was released from prison, his house had no door.
As a result, he stayed on the roof of the toilet, where the snakes would not have been able to get at him.
Since coming down from the toilet, the man keeps a fire burning in his house saying it is to keep snakes at bay.

Former Chikurubi Inmate Spends 8 Years Living On The Roof Of A Blair Toilet

A snake reportedly slithered into a prison cell holding MDC Alliance youth leaders Joanna Mamombe and Cecilia Chimbiri at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison on Sunday.
According to respected journalist Violet Gonda, Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) guards took a long time to react even though the MDC Alliance duo screamed for help.
Gonda said the prison guards initially said they were waiting for officials from the Zimbabwe Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) to come and take away the reptile.
Mamombe and Chimbiri were later moved out of the cell and taken to another cell holding inmates infected with the coronavirus. Said Gonda via Twitter:
<blockquote>A snake crawled into opposition activists [Joana Mamombe] [and] [Cecilia Chimbiri]’s prison cell at Chikurubi yesterday. [Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights]’s [Roselyn Hanzi] confirmed this.
Reports say they screamed for help but guards took their time. Said they were waiting for National Parks!
Later they were transferred to a cell with COVID infected inmates [and] back to the same cell with holes.
These women have suffered greatly. To watch them go through this again is traumatising.
This is a violent assault on their mental health. Nobody deserves to be treated so shabbily.</blockquote>
Mamombe and Chimbiri were last week denied bail by magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti-Guwiriro who remanded them to 23 March.
They were arrested on 5 March after they held a Press conference at the Harare Magistrates Court in protest over the arrest of MDC Alliance committee member, Makomborero Haruziviishe.

Snake Slithers Into MDC-A Activists' Jail Cell At Chikurubi

MDC Alliance vice-chairperson Job Sikhala has written a letter from Chikurubi Maximum Prison where he is detained on allegations of communicating falsehood.
In the letter, the firebrand Zengeza West legislator pleads his innocence and says he will never be silenced and the persecution he is experiencing will not break his spirit. <a href="https://twitter.com/Laque_davis/status/1352570398660026368?s=20" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Below is Sikhala’s missive:</a>
<blockquote>No matter the adversities, the liberation of our people from oppression and persecution can not be postponed any further.
My persecution is a reflection of the suffering our people have been going through one generation after the other.
In this instance, I am in complete shock of the reasons for my persecutions, there is no crime I committed.
The plot and the plan of the dictatorship is to break me down. I will never be broken down because of the demand for a free and just society is a calling.
Even if I die in the concentration camp called Chikurubi Maximum Prison, dear Zimbabweans remember me.
Remember that it is because of our freedom, happiness and liberty that has been robbed from one generation to another, that I met my fate.
I promise I will never be silenced until we all enjoy our nationhood.

Sikhala Writes Letter To Zimbabweans From Chikurubi Prison

<blockquote>Today Job Sikhala would have woken up at 5.30 AM from the cold concrete floor that he has been sleeping on since his persecution and incarceration at Chikurubi Maximum Security prison 4 weeks ago.
He is not a convicted prisoner, but the vindictive nature of the regime sent him to a prison meant for convicted prisoners, where he is shackled in leg irons and handcuffs like a dangerous and convicted criminal.
Job Sikhala is a member of parliament in Zimbabwe and an officer of the High Court just like all registered lawyers, his only crime is calling for the end of corruption in Zimbabwe!
His prison cell is meant to house ONLY 16 prison inmates, but like all other prison cells at Chikuribi prison, it is packed with 42 prisoners, and only has one toilet with NO running water for those 42 men.
At times it can have more prisoners, I know so because I shared the same cell with Job Sikhala.
At one point they wanted to bring more inmates so that we would end up around 75 for that night!
This is in the middle of a COVID-19 pandemic which requires social distancing, but not at Chikurubi prison!
Sikhala and the other prisoners are locked up in this prison cell for 17 hours daily!
If you fall sick during these 17 hours, you won’t get any practical medical help at all.
Many die quietly and the nation never gets to know how life evolves in these prisons because of lack of transparency!
After waking up at 5.30 AM, Sikhala joins other prisoners downstairs in section B of the Chikurubi prison where they get porridge without sugar in it or anything else for breakfast.
Down there they will be around 500 prisoners in section B, yet they only have 2 toilets for use, YES, 2 toilets for 500 prisoners from the 12 cells in section B.
There is NO running water in the downstairs section just like in the cells, there are only 2 toilets for 500 people.
When I left Chikurubi 2 weeks ago, they had NO COVID-19 masks, a direct consequence of the LOOTING of public funds and plunder of national resources which I had reported on in June and July leading to my arrest!
At 10.30 AM, Job Sikhala and his fellow inmates are given lunch which comes in old dirty wheelie bins!
It will be badly cooked Sadza and boiled beans with no cooking oil or anything else, just boiled beans with water.
Resembling a concentration camp, prisoners are asked to go on “Foreign” which is a lining up of prisoners.
“Foreign” is a bastardization of “Falling In” where the prisoners sit down in lines of 5 if they are in the cell, or more if they are downstairs! They have no soap, they have no running water-NOTHING.
As a journalist being in prison was a front-row seat which allowed me to see how the regime has failed to run even a mere prison!
Lunch comes at 13.30 for Job Sikhala and his fellow inmates again brought in the dirty wheelie bins. This time it is the badly cooked Sadza with boiled cabbages.
This is the dietary routine every day all year round. They get NO meat although the prison dietary book says that they are meant to eat meat 8 times a week.
This is what happens when the State and government are being daily looted without legal consequence for the crooks and looters!
At 1500 hrs, Job and his fellow inmates are locked up in their cell for the night, where for the next 17 hours they will be sitting and sleeping on the concrete floor with torn blankets heavily infested with lice.
Job is being punished because the State and the regime know that he has NO case in a proper court of law before an honest magistrate or judge!
So the regime has been punishing its critics using the office of a man called Thabani Vusa Mpofu (not the advocate), who is supposed to be an anti-corruption prosecutor in Emmerson Mnangagwa’s office. He is the one behind the persecution of Mnangagwa’s critics and political rivals!
It is so shameless that our cases which are supposedly criminal are being brought before the Anti-Corruption Courts, that is how the regime is abusing the judiciary!
Instructions are given not to give bail, and like in my case, I started serving prison time without a conviction as a form of punishment!!
Denial of bail and a delay in pronouncing bail rulings is meant to make sure that you are punished without trial.
When Job’s lawyers come to see him at the prison, he is shackled in leg irons, a form of humiliation!
But like myself, Job understood that today is a sideshow, what matters is the ending of corruption and looting and not our individual punishment!
The citizens should focus on ending corruption which has destroyed the country, they should also stand in solidarity with Job Sikhala because his fight against corruption is for the citizens not just for himself and his family.
Today Job and his fellow prison inmates as they are locked up in section B of Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison have NO soap to wash their hands, NO running water for toilets or for drinking.
The only water they have comes in jugs and 20-litre containers which are then shared amongst the prisoners for the next 24 hours!
Many prisoners use bible pages when they go to the toilet, the prison fails to even provide toilet paper. When it rarely comes, it really feels like a Christmas moment for the prisoners, that is how low Zimbabwe has sunk!
Job is NOT a convicted prisoner, but he is being treated worse than one, and all Zimbabwean citizens have been able to say is #FreeJobSikhala #ZimbabweBelongsToAll
So whilst you follow comedians on social media in your millions, remember that there is Job Sikhala languishing in Mnangagwa’s jail at Chikurubi Maximum Prison for fighting for YOUR rights to have a corruption-free society!

The Deplorable Conditions At Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison Revealed

Corruption in Zimbabwe’s prison is on the increase, a Daily News report says. The publication interviewed a former convict who spent 14 months at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison who said:
<blockquote>Money can buy you anything if you are in prison. Rich people who go to jail almost get anything that they want and it is true that prison officials can arrange for an inmate to get unscheduled visits
Sometimes they stage-manage that a prisoner is ill and take him to the clinic where a family member is then sneaked in so that other inmates do not see this happening, but everyone knows that is what happens.</blockquote>
A few weeks ago 3 senior prison officers employed Chikurubi Maximum Prison stood before the Harare magistrate facing charges of corruption after they engaged in a chicken rearing project with prominent prisoner Munyradzi Kereke using prison labour.
