Castle Lager Premier Soccer League 2022 champions FC Platinum (FCP) has dedicated the title to its fans.
FCP was presented with their fourth consecutive title on Saturday at Mandava Stadium.
The Zvishavane-based club finished the season with a 3-0 win over Cranborne Bullets.
FCP accumulated 75 points, with Chicken Inn finishing second with 63 points, while Dynamos came third with 58 points.
FC Platinum’s spokesperson, Chido Chizondo, said the club is grateful to its funds for their support considering the hardships they faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Said Chizondo:

Our FC Platinum fans have been amazing this year, especially with the challenges that we had during COVID-19 and still being able to support.
We’re thankful, we’re grateful that they believed in the project even when it seemed as if we were going in another direction.

FC Platinum Thanks Fans For "Unwavering" Support

FC Platinum (FCP) has set an upper age limit for members of its squad which has resulted in an exodus of players whose contracts had expired.
Players who have left the club include Silas Songani, Ralph Kawondera, Stanley Ngala, Rodney Chinyengetere and Donald Dzvinyai.
Ngala has joined Highlanders, Dzvinyai moved to Harare City, Madzongwe is reported to be on the verge of joining Bulawayo Chiefs while Chingetere is said to be on his way to Caps United.
Club media and liaison officer Chido Chizondo said the players who have left the club have reached a certain age. She said:

Ultimately, these players’ contracts had expired but what has happened to the club is we have agreed to let go of players who have reached a certain age.
The players who have left have reached that age and we wish them all the best.
As FC Platinum, our position is to have a youthful squad and I think if you noticed when we played the Chibuku Super Cup, the coach made a lot of effort in ensuring that the majority of the players were the younger ones and it yielded results.
Our objective is to go back into the Champions League, to focus on the next five years and, hopefully, be more competitive than we have been in the past and that can only happen if you build your squad.
We are also looking at a position where the revenue that comes from our players start making sense, that is why we have taken that position.

FC Platinum Set Squad Age Limit

The partnership between Premier Soccer League champions FC Platinum and Spanish side Real Betis does not guarantee an automatic player transfer to the La Liga side, the Zvishavane-based club has said.
Speaking in an interview with H-Metro, FC Platinum spokesperson Chido Chizondo said doors are open for the capable and deserving, just like any move to Europe the requirements have to be met. She said:

FC Platinum recently struck a partnership deal with Real Betis that will see the two giants collaborating in areas such as strategic planning, the business of football, digital fan engagement, rationalising football post-Covid, transformation and innovation.
The partnership sees the Spanish Club extending its footprint on the local football landscape after successfully launching the Real Betis Academy this year in Harare and Bulawayo.
FC Platinum have begun their Champions League preparations after they were granted permission by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) last week.
Pure Platinum Play face GD Sagrada Esperanca of Angola in the preliminary round which is scheduled for the weekend of 10-12 September.

Real Betis Deal Doesn’t Guarantee Players Transfers - FC Platinum

FC Platinum has dismissed as false reports claiming that assistant coach Lizwe Sweswe is headed for the exit as he reportedly does not see eye-to-eye with head coach Pieter De Jongh.
The reports had further claimed that the FC Platinum coach wants Sweswe replaced by Highlanders assistant coach Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu.
FC Platinum public relations officer, Chido Chizondo denied they are making changes to the technical department. She said:
<blockquote>Sweswe is not leaving and we have not talked to anyone about replacing him because he is committed to us.
The technical department is focused on our upcoming Caf Champions League game and we don’t know where the reports are emanating from.</blockquote>
The Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions will commence their 2020/21 CAF Champions League campaign in later in November.

FC Platinum Deny Rumours Of Technical Team Rift

FC Platinum is reportedly seeking a special waiver from ZIFA to resume training as a team in preparation for the CAF Champions set for November 2020, The Herald reports.
Speaking about the upcoming tournament in which they will represent Zimbabwe, Club spokesperson, Chido Chizondo said:
<blockquote>We want to participate (in the CAF Champions League) but we will get guidance from PSL, ZIFA and other stakeholders on when we can start group training. Obviously, we will have to get clearance from the Government. We will only participate after getting clearance from the authorities. So, the necessary engagements have already started.</blockquote>
The team’s head coach Hendrick de Jong said though his players were training from home they needed to train as a team because football is a team sport:
<blockquote>My players have been training alone at home. We need to train as a team since football is a team sport. It is important to then start training, as a team, in the first week of October. We have to deal with the reality on the ground. We are behind schedule by far. Match fitness is key in this game and that is the element we are lacking.
We need to be playing football every week but that has not happened and we are in a tight spot. I am praying that the league starts now. We need to play as many matches as we can before we can plunge into the African Safari.
If our season fails to kick off, before November, then we will need to engage in friendly matches against competitive teams. It is always going to be difficult finding opponents, though, as local clubs haven’t been training, just like us.</blockquote>
ZIFA and the government are yet to respond to FC Platinum’s request.

FC Platinum Seeking Special Waiver From the Authorities To Train As A Club

Nomadic FC Platinum coach Hendrikus Pieter de Jongh left Zimbabwe on Saturday for Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) amid reports that the Dutchman went to meet potential employers in the kingdom.
De Jongh is thought to be eager on taking the Warriors job and is also believed to have engaged the Zambian Football Association.
Zambia appointed Serbian national Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic in January and gave him the freedom to choose his own backroom staff.
In a post on microblogging site Twitter on Friday, De Jongh said there is a need for players to be mentally strong and then tagged Chipolopolo. He wrote:
<blockquote>Beside tactical, technical and physical factors, nowadays and more than ever players have to be mentally well prepared and strong. It is possible to reach the top, but the point is how long you can stay at this top, and that is where mental strength comes in.</blockquote>
FC Platinum spokesperson Chido Chizondo said the coach was on leave and outside the country.

FC Platinum Coach Slips Out Of The Country

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/FC_Platinum" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">FC Platinum (FCP)</a> head coach Pieter de Jongh has finally been granted a work permit by Zimbabwe’s Immigration Department.
As such, De Jongh will be able to sit on the bench when the Champions take on Sudanese side Al Hilal in a Total Caf Champions League match at <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Barbourfields_Stadium" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Barbourfields Stadium</a> on Saturday.
The development was confirmed by FCP media officer Chido Chizondo on Tuesday. She said:
<blockquote>Yes, the coach has received his papers, they came through last week and that means he can now be on the bench in our next matches.</blockquote>
The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zvishavane" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Zvishavane</a>-based club arrives in the City of Kings and Queens this Wednesday for its final preparations ahead of Saturday’s match.

This was disclosed by the club’s media and communications officer Chido Chizondo on Friday. She said:
<blockquote>I can confirm that Devon Chafa, Mkhokheli Dube, Wallace Magalane, Albert Eonde, Charles Sibanda and <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Rodwell_Chinyengetere" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Rodwell Chinyengetere</a> are leaving the club. Our preparations get underway tomorrow. We had given the players some break after our match in Egypt but it’s back to business now.</blockquote>
FCP released the six players as the club resumes preparations for the return leg of their Total Caf Champions League match against Al Ahly.
The match is set for <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Barbourfields_Stadium" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Barbourfields Stadium</a> in Bulawayo next week, with training for the match resuming this Saturday.

Castle Lager Premier Soccer League 2019 Champions, FC Platinum have dismissed social media reports suggesting that they have signed Highlanders coach, De Jongh.
Chido Chizondo, FC Platinum’s Spokesperson said:
<blockquote>As it stands Lizwe Sweswe is still our interim coach and is in charge. Social media will remain speculating and apparently we do not have any contract with the said coach. We as a club seat at the end of each season, assess the performances and follow laid down procedures if we want to make any new appointments.</blockquote>
FC Platinum are reportedly hunting for an experienced coach suggesting that Sweswe who took over from Norman Mapeza on an interim basis is not convincing for the Zvishavane-based outfit.
Sweswe took over the club mid-season and managed to retain the PSL trophy after beating contenders, Caps United on the last day.

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/FC_Platinum" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">FC Platinum’s</a> missing luggage was found at Bole International Airport in Ethiopia where they got their connecting flight to Khartoum, Sudan, from <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Robert_Gabriel_Mugabe_International_Airport" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Robert Mugabe International Airport</a> on Tuesday night.
Club media liaison officer Chido Chizondo confirmed that the luggage had been located. She said:
<blockquote>They had initially told us that the bags will arrive at 6 AM, then it was moved to 11 AM and now we are told it’s this evening at 6 PM. We hope that we won’t get another excuse.</blockquote>
The luggage included soccer balls, kit and other training materials as well as general clothing for the whole delegation.
FC Platinum coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Lizwe_Sweswe" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Lizwe Sweswe</a> had not planned any the training session in the afternoon and planned to rest his players after travelling for long hours.

Castle Lager Premier League champions, FC Platinum will travel to Bulawayo on Thursday ahead of their preliminary round second leg tie of the Caf Champions League against Malawi giants Nyasa Big Bullets.
The match will be played on Saturday at Barbourfields Stadium.
This was confirmed by club spokesperson, Chido Chizondo. She said:
<blockquote>We will be in Bulawayo on Thursday for the game, while I understand our opponents will be in the country tomorrow (today) and will also arrive in Bulawayo on Thursday.</blockquote>
