Former Dynamos and Warriors coach, Callisto Pasuwa has won his fourth successive league title in Malawi with Nyasa Big Bullets.
Bullets were confirmed the 2022 Malawi Super League champions after beating Moyale FC 3-1 on Saturday.
The Blantyre-based club, considered the number one football club in Malawi in terms of supporters, now has an unassailable 67 points with two rounds to play and having lost just once throughout the season.
The league triumph comes just three weeks after Bullets won the FA Cup.
Meanwhile, Pasuwa equals his personal record for most successive league titles.

Callisto Pasuwa Wins Fourth Successive League Title In Malawi

Former Dynamos and Warriors coach Callisto Pasuwa’s Nyasa Big Bullets opened a 12-point gap at the top of the TNM Super League after beating Ekwendeni Hammers 2-0 at Mzuzu Stadium on Wednesday.
Pasuwa is chasing a fourth straight league title in charge of the Bullets and his eighth in eight seasons. He has already won four consecutive premiership titles in Zimbabwe with Dynamos.
Wednesday’s win took Bullets to 48 points from 18 matches, 12 more than second-placed Blue Eagles who have a game in hand.
Defender, Precious Sambani, scored the opener, heading in from a Patrick Mwaungulu corner-kick in the 21st minute before another defender Nickson Nyasulu the second in the 60th minute leaving the Zimbabwean coach delighted. Said Pasuwa:

Remember, we are building a team. But the boys are performing beyond expectations and we cannot demand more from them.

Former Warriors coach Callisto Pasuwa has dismissed reports claiming that he is working as a consultant for the Malawi national team at the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Cameroon.
Pasuwa, who coaches Malawi premiership champions Nyasa Big Bullets is indeed in Cameroon and was at the stadium on Monday when Zimbabwe lost its opening tie 0-1 to Senegal.
The former Dynamos coach scoffed at reports linking him to the Flames, who are in the same group as the Warriors. Said Pasuwa:

This should be a joke I think. I saw social media was awash with these lies, blatant lies if I can say. I have no role in the Malawi national team whatsoever.
The rumour actually started when I called someone on Thursday as I was home (in Zimbabwe) telling them I would fly to Cameroon for the African Cup of Nations.
Maybe that’s how they started interpreting my going to Cameroon as a sign that I would be working with the Flames, but no, that’s not the issue.

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Callisto_Pasuwa">Callisto Pasuwa</a> won two titles with Nyasa Big Bullets in the 2021 season, the first time the former Warriors and Dynamos coach has won a double in Malawi.
Pasuwa won the Malawian league title before lifting the Airtel Top 8 Cup title at the weekend.
The Zimbabwean coach has now won the TNM Super League title three consecutive times with Nyasa Big Bullets.
The Airtel Top 8 Cup final was settled through a penalty shootout after Nyasa Big Bullets came from behind to force a 1-1 draw with Silver Strikers.
Nyasa overcame their opponents 5-3 on post-match penalties in the final that was played at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre last Saturday.
Speaking to reporters after the match, Pasuwa revealed areas in the squad that need to be strengthened for next year’s CAF Champions League. He said:

The way that we played last time we have been facing the same problem, it’s our central defence.
We have been promoting strikers in the past year, so we are lacking depth in terms of our centre-backs and wingbacks.
So, we need, if we want to play in the Champions League, to have tall and very quick defenders who can pass the ball when on central defence.
When we played in the Champions League, we saw our weaknesses, so we need to consider all that when we are buying players for next year.

Pasuwa has won a league title in each of the seven years he has been a top-flight coach. 
He won four league titles with Dynamos in Zimbabwe from 2011 to 2014 and has now won three with Nyasa Big Bullets in Malawi.

Pasuwa Wins League And Cup Double In Malawi

Malawian Premier League champions, Nyasa Big Bullets, are keen on retaining the former Dynamos and Warriors coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Callisto_Pasuwa">Callisto Pasuwa</a> (51), with negotiations for a new deal ongoing.
Pasuwa’s Malawian representative, Felix Sapao, told The Herald on Thursday that the Zimbabwean coach’s contract expired in February.
He said when Pasuwa’s contract expired, the two parties had to continue under the arrangements made by FIFA and the Football Association of Malawi in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Said Sapao:

If you remember, his contract had ended in February so he had to continue under the arrangements made by FIFA and FAM following the COVID-19 disruptions.
So, the league ended last month but they are now playing the Airtel Top 8 tournament, which brings the curtain down to the whole programme.
They have won the first game in the quarter-finals and they need to play the return leg.
He is happy where he is because he has been receiving his payments.

Nyasa Big Bullets last Saturday beat Mafco FC 3-1 in the first leg of their Airtel Top 8 quarter-final tie at Kamuzu Stadium.

Nyasa Offers Pasuwa Contract Extension

Former Warriors and Dynamos coach Callisto Pasuwa has been added to the National Football Coaches Association (NFCA), becoming one of the first two foreign mentors to join the Malawian coaches’ body.
He was added to the NFCA alongside Zambian Dan Kabwe who coaches Silver Strikers.
Pasuwa is the head coach of Nyasa Big Bullets and has won two successive league titles with the team.
Speaking to The Nation newspaper, NFCA chairperson Aubrey Nankhuni said the two coaches have done a lot in the development of the game in Malawi. He said:
<blockquote>We want to change the way the NFCA works going forward. These coaches are indeed foreigners, but they are doing respectable work that is helping the country improve the standards of the game.
If you look at the performance of Bullets and Silver in the league, you will understand what I am talking about.
These coaches also deserve credit for Malawi’s Africa Cup of Nations’ qualification as the Flames relied on most of their finished products to build the winning team.
We cannot ignore such coaches, but welcome them into our fold as there is a lot we can learn from them.</blockquote>
Speaking after his appointment, Pasuwa said initially he was afraid of joining the body but now feels at home in Malawi. Said Pasuwa:
<blockquote>Previously, I restricted my work to Bullets and I was afraid of joining the coaches’ body as they seemed not interested in foreigners.
But now I feel at home. I will tell my people in Zimbabwe that I am home away from home.
Football is more scientific nowadays. Let us not be jealousy of each other but, rather work together to take the game of football to greater heights.</blockquote>

Malawian Coaches Applaud Callisto Pasuwa

Callisto Pasuwa is set for fresh contract negotiations with Malawian Premiership football champions Nyasa Big Bullets as his current deal expires in January 2021.
Media reports from Malawi indicate that Bullets chief administrator Albert Chigoga is ready to open negotiations with Pasuwa over a new contract. Chigoga is quoted as saying:
<blockquote>All contractual issues will be ably handled in the way the club and the players and officials will be happy in the end. Plans are in place to engage the concerned individuals and agree on an extension of their contracts.</blockquote>
Callisto Pasuwa won his second league trophy with Bullets last December and renewed his stay with the side when he signed a one-year contract earlier this year.
The former Dynamos and Warriors coach <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2020/02/11/pasuwa-rules-out-returning-to-dembare/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">is wanted by many foreign clubs, including those in Zambia and South Africa.</a>
Football has been on hold in Malawi for several months due to the coronavirus pandemic and the Malawi government has not yet given the green light for football activities to resume.
Meanwhile, Football Association of Malawi President Walter Nyamilandu has been quoted in the Malawian media insisting that football will return next month.

Former Dynamos FC coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Callisto_Pasuwa" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Callisto Pasuwa</a> is not coming back to the club anytime soon, according to his close friend Dee Shorai Muchineripi.
Speaking to The Herald on Monday, Muchineripi revealed that Pasuwa was offered a lucrative one-year-deal by the Malawi Premiership champions Nyasa Big Bullets and will only come back to <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Dynamos_Football_Club" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">DeMbare</a> to get the money he is owed. He said:
<blockquote>There is no possible return of Mana to DeMbare. He had his time and achieved everything there.
If there is anything he still wants to do with Dynamos, then it’s about his money they still owe him.</blockquote>
Pasuwa has been in Malawi for the past two years and won the title in both seasons.
He has been in Zimbabwe during the past few days but will leave for Malawi on Wednesday where he will sign the new deal with the Blantyre-based club.

Pasuwa Rules Out Returning To DeMbare

Former Warriors and <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Dynamos_Football_Club" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Dynamos FC</a> coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Callisto_Pasuwa" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Callisto Pasuwa</a> on Monday agreed to a one-year contract with Malawi Premiership champions Nyasa Big Bullets.
The deal was finalised at 4.30 pm yesterday and would run from February 1, 2020, up to January 31, 2021, covering a total of 12 months.
Some media reports in Malawi had earlier reported that Pasuwa had returned to Zimbabwe following disagreements over the terms of a two-year-deal.
However, speaking to The Herald on Monday, Pasuwa’s close friend Dee Shorai Muchineripi said:
<blockquote>There was no misunderstanding between Mana (Pasuwa) and Nyasa as reported in other sections of Malawi media.
His return to Zimbabwe has nothing to do with his contract, although three clauses were still pending and they were ironing them out over the weekend.
The two parties were always going to reach an amicable agreement and Mana has agreed to another one-year contract.</blockquote>
Meanwhile, Pasuwa is expected to put his signature on the dotted line once he returns to Blantyre on Wednesday.

Former Dynamos and Warriors coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Callisto_Pasuwa" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Callisto Pasuwa</a> has returned to Zimbabwe for the time being after he failed to agree on the details of a new two-year deal with his Malawi club Nyasa Big Bullets.
While the Malawi champions’ chief administration officer Albert Chigoga said they agreed to the terms with Pasuwa, the coach’s local representative Felix Ngamanya Sapao revealed that he has not signed a new contract yet and those negotiations are still ongoing. Said Sapao:

Trailblazing football coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Callisto_Pasuwa">Callisto Pasuwa, </a>has not shown any interest in <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_National_Football_Team">the Warriors</a> coach job that fell vacant when interim coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Football_Association_(ZIFA)">Joey Antipas</a> quit in November The Herald reports.

Former Dynamos coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Callisto_Pasuwa" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Callisto Pasuwa</a>‘s Nyasa Big Bullets won their fourth TNM Super League title in five years after beating TN Stars 2-0 on the final day of the 2019 season.
The former Warriors coach won the League with the Glamour Boys in four consecutive seasons and has now won two in a row with Nyasa.
Last year he won his first Malawi league title with Nyasa Big Bullets. This means that Pasuwa has won the league title for the sixth straight season of the teams he has taken charge of.
According to Malawi24, it was another perfect record for the new champions who, for the eighth successful season, have finished unbeaten at home. The people’s team have also kept seven clean sheets in a row.
With the title now sealed, Bullets have been rewarded with K15 million and a trophy as they head into the New Year.

Speaking to reporters ahead of today’s match, the Zimbabwean also bemoaned waterlogged pitches which have made it hard to play football. He said:
<blockquote>The team is looking good. The players are ready to play. No injuries so far. But the games have been intensive throughout. The teams we are playing are throwing everything at us.
You know we played on a water-logged pitch against Silver. We have been trying to recover from that. Today we were interrupted again by the rains and we didn’t train. We also expect the same conditions in the game against Civil.</blockquote>
Bullets overcame Silver Strikers on Sunday at water-logged Silver Stadium, and still lead the 16-team TNM Super League with 61 points, just a point above second-placed Be Forward Wanderers with three matches left each.

Former Dynamos and Warriors coach Callisto Pasuwa has bemoaned the long journey his Malawian club, Nyasa Big Bullets travelled by road from Blantyre to Bulawayo.
The Malawi champions are in Zimbabwe for the first round, second leg tie of the Caf Champions League against FC Platinum at Barbourfields Stadium on Saturday.
Pasuwa and his charges arrived in Bulawayo on Thursday afternoon. Speaking to reporters during a stopover in Harare, he said:
<blockquote>So far so good but fatigue, we trained in the morning and you could see the legs are heavy, but we are trying our best to see how we can manage this with the doctors.
We have one player Chiukepo Msowoya he could not train, he only got involved for two to three minutes, he is down with a hamstring injury and that is a setback on our side.
But the other 21 guys we brought I think they are okay we will have to see tomorrow at training.
Today we trained on a grass pitch just like Barbourfields and you could see the players are trying to adapt, the ball was moving slowly.
But we hope by Saturday the boys will be fresh enough to do the job.</blockquote>
Nyasa Big Bullets have an advantage over FC platinum in theory after drawing 0-0 in Blantyre because if they score one goal, their hosts will have to score two goals to proceed.

Pasuwa's Nyasa Big Bullets Fatigued After 1000km-road Journey For FC Platinum clash

Former Warriors coach Kallisto Pasuwa said the current group of players should guard against complacency to make sure that the country qualifies for the 2019 AFCON Finals to be held in Egypt in June/July.
In an interview with Sunday Sport from his Malawi base, Pasuwa said the match against Congo should not be considered a job done. Said Pasuwa:
<blockquote>As a nation we missed a lot of chances of qualifying for this biggest African tournament.
It was indeed a painful experience and I believe the current crop of national team players should compensate for those experiences and positively contribute to the history of Zimbabwe.
However, we expect signs of maturity from the players that are going to do duty. They should guard against complacency.

Warriors Should Guard Against Complacency In the Congo Match - Pasuwa

Chicken In lost 2-1 to former Dynamos and Warriors coach Callisto Pasuwa’s Malawian side Nyasa Bullets on Saturday.
The match, which was the fourth in the Nyasa Four Team Bonanza, the tournament was played at the Kamuzu Stadium.
Speaking after the match, the Gamecocks coach Joey Antipas said:
<blockquote>At times it’s important to lose this kind of matches. We started well in the first half but we lost our rhythm in the second stanza. It’s a mistake that we made at a time we are still working on our combinations.</blockquote>

Chicken Inn Lose 2-1 To Pasuwa's Nyasa Bullets

Former Dynamos and Warriors coach Callistus Pasuwa is set to extend his sojourn at Malawi champions Nyasa Bullets.
Pasuwa is yet to sign a new contract but the Malawian champions are hopeful of reaching an agreement with the Dynamos legend.
Bullets chief executive officer, Fleetwood Haiya last week on Wednesday told local media that talks with Pasuwa were going on well. Said Hiya:
<blockquote>Yes, our coach is back in the country, but allow me not to comment much on his return as there are some issues to be finalised.</blockquote>
Pasuwa is expected to put pen to paper on a three-year deal.

Pasuwa Returns To Malawi

Despite Malawian Champions Nyasa Big Bullets announcing that they have agreed “in principle” to a to a three-year contract with coach Callisto Pasuwa, the Zimbabwean says the offer has not been agreed entirely as he is negotiating after tabling a counter-offer. Pasuwa’s initial two and a half months contract with Bullets expired at the end of last month.
Bullets chief executive officer (CEO) Fleetwood Haiya said Pasuwa agreed to the terms and all that is remaining is to finalise the paperwork. Pasuwa’s manager Gibson Mahachi said:
<blockquote>It’s only that we are still negotiating and in the next one or two days, we will have concluded. They have tabled their offer and today [Tuesday] we sent our counter-offer and we are waiting for their feedback.
The former Zimbabwe Warriors and Dynamos FC coach took over the mantle from Rogers Yasin and Elia Kananji in October last year and was given a target of winning the TNM Super League title as a condition for a long-term romance with the People’s Team.</blockquote>
He took over the team when it was already on course to win the league, but did the rest to perfection by sealing the title with a game to spare.

Callisto Pasuwa Negotiating Lucrative Deal With Malawi Champions Nyasa Bullets

Outgoing Warriors head coach <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Callisto_Pasuwa" target="_blank">Kallisto Pasuwa</a>, who is serving his last day as the Warriors’ coach after his contract was terminated has been offered another job by the Malawi Football Association.
Pasuwa’s manager Gibson Mahachi revealed that Pasuwa would only respond to the job offer on Wednesday when he was no lo0nger an official of Zifa.
Speaking to HMetro on Monday Mahachi said:
<blockquote>They (Malawi) made a formal inquiry. We have not formally responded to them but after tomorrow (Wednesday), we will respond.
There is nothing much we can say about the issue. For now, he (Pasuwa) finishes his duties with our national team tomorrow (Tuesday)
…Yes, the position has not changed that he desperately needs rest before he comes back. But then, you cannot ignore when inquiries are made. We will have to respond to the inquiries being made including this one which came last week. It is important to communicate,</blockquote>
Pasuwa was fired by Zifa after the Warriors had a poor showing at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations held in Gabon.  They finished last in their group with only a single point, although it must be noted that Zimbabwe was the only Southern African nation to qualify to for the continental tournament.

Pasuwa offered job by  Football Association of Malawi

Speaking at a press briefing held at Rainbow Hotel in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) President Phillip Chiyangwa revealed that they are looking for a new head coach to replace Kalisto Pasuwa who was fired recently.
Said Chiyangwa:
<blockquote>We are looking for new coaches that will not throw the nation into serious embarrassment.</blockquote>
ZIFA are also hunting for a new technical director to replace Taurayi Mangwiro, who has resigned after being offered a job by Triangle.

Chiyangwa reveals ZIFA is looking for new Warriors head coach

In a letter signed by acting ZIFA General Secretary Joseph Mamutse, the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) terminated Warriors Coach Kalisto Pawusa’s contract citing recommendations made by the High Performance Committee which met last Friday deliberating on performance of all national football teams in the year 2016.
The committe strongly recommended that ZIFA should not renew the Pasuwa’s contract mentioning Warriors’ results at the 2016 COSAFA Castle Cup in Namibia, the 2015 African Nations Championships in Rwanda and the Nations Cup finals in Gabon as a basis to support their argument that the coach had failed to take the national team to another level.
Pasuwa had signed a two-year performance-based contract with ZIFA which was subject to review after the 2017 African Cup of Nations.

ZIFA terminates Pasuwa's contract

Warriors Coach <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Callisto_Pasuwa" target="_blank">Callisto Pasuwa</a> and<a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Football_Association" target="_blank"> ZIFA</a> are at an impasse over the coach’s position. Pasuwa does not want to resign from his job because that will mean he will be walking away from 12 months’ salary. Pasuwa’s contract still has another 12 months to run. At $7 000 per month, that means if he walks away he will be walking away from $84 000. Understandably, the coach does not want to resign, and would rather be fired.
However, if ZIFA fires him then it would have to pay for the remainder of his contract and give him $84 000. Zifa already owes Pasuwa 7 months salary, which translates to $49 000. Therefore if ZIFA fires Pasuwa, it will have to give him $133 000 compensation. As a result, ZIFA is insisting that Pasuwa should tender his resignation instead so that he forfeits the $84 000 for the remainder of the contract.
Pasuwa’s manager Gibson Mahachi spoke to Newsday saying:
<blockquote>He will not resign. Pasuwa signed a two-year renewable contract and the target was for him to qualify Zimbabwe to the Afcon [Africa Cup of Nations], which he did. And he has submitted his report to the HPC, and Zifa simply has to decide the way forward based on the recommendations of the HPC. If they want to move on with a new coach, they should just announce the position and pay him what they owe. I don’t understand why a simple issue like this is being complicated here. Due process should just be allowed to take its course. Why then should he resign</blockquote>

Pasuwa owed $49 000, will receive another $84 000 if fired

Former Warriors coach  <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Sunday_Chidzambwa" target="_blank">Sunday Chidzambwa</a> has suggested that   <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Callisto_Pasuwa" target="_blank">Callisto Pasuwa</a>, can improve as a coach if he serves as an assistant coach to a foreigner first.    Chidzambwa suggested that an experienced coach would be able to guide Pasuwa and make him better.  Chidzambwa also decried the lack of continuity in Zimbabwe.
Referencing his own experience when he served as assistant to the late Reinhard Fabisch before guiding the Warriors to their first ever Africa Cup of Nations, Chidzambwa said:
<blockquote>I benefited a lot from that man [Fabisch]. I was his assistant and learnt a lot from him. Fabisch was that kind of coach, who really liked to study video footage of his opponents and he would employ a system designed for a particular opponent. My success was all because of him.
When we were going to the Africa Cup of Nations, I said we were going to learn, but the problem we have in Zimbabwe is that we don’t have continuity. We were lucky, though, to qualify for the next edition in Egypt, but there was a new coach, who was learning again. So we need continuity if we are to achieve greatness and I think it could be one of the solutions to have Pasuwa as an assistant to a foreign coach.</blockquote>

<a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Football_Association" target="_blank">ZIFA</a> vice president Omega Sibanda has maintained that coach  <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Callisto_Pasuwa" target="_blank">Callisto Pasuwa</a> and <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Willard_Katsande" target="_blank">Willard Katsande</a> are still part of the Warriors setup. Sibanda said he had not received any communication about any resignations.
Sibanda said:
<blockquote>Pasuwa is still our coach and Katsande is still our captain. I was with them in Gabon and they never told me anything. We will tackle it when it comes to us. We went to Gabon as a team and we came back as a team. Our heads are very high.
…I was there in Gabon, they did their best, Pasuwa did his best. I saw it for myself. I am happy for Pasuwa and the team.</blockquote>
There seems to be confusion on the status of Pasuwa though, as the coach refused to confirm or deny that he had announced his retirement.   When asked about his status Pasuwa said:
