A Zimbabwean nanny named Theresa Dawes claims that she was fired by Carrie Johnson, the wife of Boris Johnson, just three days into her job after she was found drinking a glass of wine with Boris Johnson to celebrate the birth of their baby. Theresa (59) alleges that she is owed thousands of pounds. Boris allegedly apologized, citing Carrie’s hormones as the reason for the dismissal. Theresa is considering legal action to recover her unpaid wages and severance pay.
The Johnsons have denied Theresa’s claims. Boris Johnson, as a former Prime Minister, receives a substantial annual allowance of £115,000 and has earned millions from speaking engagements. Theresa insists that there was no inappropriate behaviour between her and Boris, and their discussions centred on Zimbabwean politics.
Theresa regrets getting involved with the Johnsons, stating that the situation has been a complete nightmare. She believes that the reason for her dismissal may have been Carrie’s mother witnessing her having wine with Boris. She said:

According to a new BBC documentary to be aired on Monday evening, the threat was made in a phone call conducted when the Russian attack on Ukraine was increasingly becoming inevitable. Said Johnson:

Johnson and other Western leaders were trying to dissuade Russia from attacking Ukraine and the British PM emerged as one of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s strongest supporters.
Before the invasion, Johnson claimed he was at pains to tell Putin that there was no imminent prospect of Ukraine joining NATO.
He warned the Russian President that any invasion would mean “more NATO, not less NATO” on Russia’s borders. Said Johnson:

Former UK Prime Minister Claims Putin Threatened To Kill Him In Missile Strike

A retired teacher has been charged with sexually assaulting a child at a British school where he taught would-be prime minister Boris Johnson.
David Price will face trial in South Africa, where he taught after leaving England in the 1980s.
A former pupil in South Africa contacted the police in December after learning of the earlier allegations in Radio 4’s In Dark Corners series.
Mr Price, 76, denies the charges, according to BBC News.
There are 42 allegations against him in total.
Journalist Alex Renton, who was taught by Mr Price, has spoken to six men who allege they were sexually assaulted by the teacher at Ashdown House in East Sussex in the 1970s. 
After returning to his native South Africa, Mr Price continued to teach. 
He was arrested in the country by British police in 2019 and has since been fighting extradition to the UK.
The latest allegations relate to his time at a prestigious all-boys school in Cape Town in the 1980s.
The alleged victim contacted Mr Renton after seeing South African media coverage of the BBC’s In Dark Corners series – which investigated sexual abuse at Britain’s elite boarding schools.
He claims he was first groped by the teacher in 1985 at the age of about 10 while showering at Western Province Preparatory School in Cape Town.
He said he was made to touch the teacher’s genitals and was told he “can’t tell anyone, they’re not going to believe you.”
Mr Price left the school in December 1987. 
A spokeswoman says the school never received any complaints he sexually assaulted children. 
A court statement from the teacher in 2019 admits to “inappropriately” touching boys in the UK, but he denied having done so in South Africa. A later statement in 2021 appears to retract this admission.

UK: Liz Truss Tenders Her Resignation To King Charles, Sunak Becomes Prime Minister

Former United Kingdom Prime Minister (PM), Boris Johnson has pulled out of the race to succeed Liz Truss saying he cannot unite the warring Conservative Party.
Johnson had the public support of 59 MPs but required 100 to continue in the contest.
But Penny Mordaunt, Rishi Sunak’s only remaining rival in the race to become the next prime minister – signalled she would not withdraw from the process, according to UK-based The Telegraph.
The race is now wide open for Sunak, the former chancellor, who has more than 140 Tory MPs backing him. Mordaunt lags behind with the public support of 26.
Johnson said he had “reached out” to leadership rivals Sunak and Mordaunt to see if they could work together in the national interest, but it had not proved possible.
In a statement, Boris insisted he had secured the 100 nominations needed to get onto the ballot paper, and that if he stood there was a, “very good chance” he would be back in Downing Street by the end of the week. He added:

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has resigned as leader of the Conservative party.
Johnson signalled his intention to quit as Prime Minister, saying the process of selecting a new party leader will begin next week, with a new Prime Minister expected to be in place by the Autumn.
In a statement outside Downing Street this Thursday, Johnson blamed the “herd instinct” of Tory MPs for pushing him out of office, after a series of cabinet ministers told him he had lost the support of the party.
Johnson’s resignation comes following dozens of resignations from his government, including former chancellor Rishi Sunak.
Sunak’s replacement, Nadhim Zahawi, also called for Johnson to go.
Sunak, Ben Wallace, Liz Truss, Sajid Javid, Penny Mordaunt, Jeremy Hunt, Tom Tugendhat, and Suella Braverman are likely to be among those who will stand to become the Prime Minister.
Johnson’s exit follows three years of scandals, including anger over his handling of harassment allegations against Chris Pincher, the deputy chief whip; a police fine over lockdown parties in Downing Street, attempts to change the standards system, and accusations of breaking international law.
He became prime minister in 2019, taking over from Theresa May with a promise to “get Brexit done”.
Johnson won an 80-seat majority in a general election in December 2019 and took the UK out of the EU.

British Finance Minister Rishi Sunak has resigned from the cabinet citing differences in economic approaches with Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
His resignation came shortly after Health Secretary Sajid Javid had also resigned. The resignations came after Boris Johnson apologised on Tuesday evening, for appointing Chris Pincher as deputy chief whip, despite belatedly admitting having known that Pincher was found to have behaved inappropriately in 2019. Pincher resigned on Friday evening after admitting to getting drunk, and being accused of groping young men.
In his resignation letter, Javid said: “The tone you set as a leader, and the values you represent, reflect on your colleagues, your party and ultimately the country. <a data-component="auto-linked-tag" data-link-name="in body link" href="https://www.theguardian.com/politics/conservatives">Conservatives</a> at their best are seen as hard-headed decision-makers, guided by strong values.”

UK Finance Minister Resigns Over PM Boris Johnson's Leadership Style

British airlines have been banned from landing at Russia’s airports and from crossing its airspace, the Russian civil aviation regulator has said.
Russia said the move was a response to “the unfriendly decisions by the UK aviation authorities”.
On Thursday, the UK banned Russia’s national airline Aeroflot from landing in Britain, a measure that was part of sanctions introduced following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.
UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace told ITV:

I think that’s their retaliation for us yesterday banning Aeroflot from using and landing in the United Kingdom. That’s their tit for tat response.
</blockquote>
Russia’s civil aviation authority Rosaviatsia said:

This measure was taken in accordance with the provisions of the Intergovernmental Air Services Agreement between Russia and the UK as a response to unfriendly decisions by the UK aviation authorities regarding the restriction on regular flights of aircraft owned, leased or operated by a person associated with Russia or registered in Russia.

British Airways said in a statement it was notifying customers on cancelled services and would offer full refunds. The airline said:

We apologise for the inconvenience but this is clearly a matter beyond our control. We will continue to monitor the situation closely.

Data provider Cirium said Aeroflot and British Airways were the only carriers flying passengers between the UK and Russia over the past week.
Aeroflot had 16 flights scheduled between London Heathrow and Moscow Sheremetyevo International Airport, while British Airways had eight.
Manchester United terminated their sponsorship deal with the Russian airline. Aeroflot had been United’s official carrier since 2013 and the latest deal was due to run until 2023. United renewed the deal in 2015, signing a five-year extension reported to be worth $40m (£29.9m).
Aeroflot has been running more passenger services between the UK and Russia than British Airways. So in that regard, it is more affected than its British counterpart.
However, Russia’s restrictions go further than the UK’s in that it is also banning British airlines from crossing its airspace. That means re-routing some flights, adding time and fuel costs.

Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has said the UK and its allies will respond to Russian “aggression” after Russia launched a <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2022/02/24/ukraines-foreign-minister-putin-launched-full-scale-invasion-well-defend-and-win/">“full-scale” invasion of its neighbour.</a>
Russian president, Vladimir Putin announced a military operation in Ukraine on Thursday with explosions heard soon after in the capital and other parts of the country, prompting outrage from Joe Biden who warned of a “catastrophic loss of life”. 
Putin said in a television announcement shortly before 6:00 am (0300 GMT) in Moscow:

I have made the decision of a military operation.
</blockquote>
He also called on Ukrainian soldiers to lay down their arms, and justified the invasion by claiming a “genocide” in Ukraine’s east.
The Kremlin had earlier said rebel leaders in eastern Ukraine had asked Moscow for military help against Kyiv. Speaking on the development, Johnson said:

I am appalled by the horrific events in Ukraine and I have spoken to President Zelenskyy to discuss next steps. President Putin has chosen a path of bloodshed and destruction by launching this unprovoked attack on Ukraine. The UK and our allies will respond decisively.

This comes after United States president, Joe Biden, had said Russia alone was responsible for the escalation. He said:

Professor of World Politics at SOAS, University of London, Stephen Chan said that United Kingdom (UK) Prime Minister Boris Johnson has no time to meet and talk to President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the UN climate change summit currently underway in Glasgow, Scotland.
<a href="https://twitter.com/NewsHawksLive/status/1455168076081778688">The NewsHawks</a> quoted Chan as saying Johnson has no time for Mnangagwa because he has key global leaders to engage on serious international issues. Said Chan:

Mnangagwa says he hopes to meet Boris Johnson. The best he will get is a handshake in the corridor or something equally brief.
Johnson has to have serious talks with [U.S. President Joe] Biden, [French President Emmanuel] Macron and [India’s Prime Minister Narendra] Modi. Zimbabweans have got to get used to it: in terms of importance, the country is rock bottom.

President Mnangagwa and his government has been desperately trying to use the COP26 climate summit to push their re-engagement agenda to end international isolation and their pariah status.
However, Zimbabwe’s diplomatic relations with the UK remain frosty despite the re-engagement efforts of late.
Mnangagwa’s visit to Glasgow was the first visit to the UK by a Zimbabwe head of state in 25 years after Britain, other Western countries and the US imposed sanctions on the country over alleged human rights abuses and failure to make political and economic reforms.

UK Prime Minister, Johnson Won't Have Time For Mnangagwa - Chan

A COVID-19 testing laboratory in central England has been suspended over concern that it has been incorrectly giving negative PCR test results to people who are infected.
The suspension was announced by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) on Friday.
NHS Test and Trace launched an investigation into a lab in Wolverhampton after reports of people getting negative PCR test results after testing positive on rapid lateral flow devices (LFDs).
Government advice says PCR tests are more accurate than LFDs, and people can stop self-isolating if a positive LFD result is followed by a negative PCR test result.
UKHSA said an estimated 43,000 people may have been given incorrect negative PCR test results, mainly in southwest England, possibly underestimating the number of people with coronavirus between September 8 and October 12. Said Dr Will Welfare, Public Health Incident Director at UKHSA:

We have immediately suspended testing at this laboratory while we continue the investigation. 

There is no evidence of any faults with LFD or PCR test kits themselves and the public should remain confident in using them and in other laboratory services currently provided.
</blockquote>
Immensa Health Clinic, the private company that runs the lab, was founded in May 2020 and has been awarded contracts worth 170 million pounds ($234 million) to process the results of PCR tests.
Its chief executive, Andrea Riposati, said the company was “fully collaborating” with UKHSA’s investigation, and did “not wish this matter or anything else to tarnish the amazing work done by the UK in this pandemic.”
UKHSA said it was an isolated incident in one laboratory, with samples now being redirected to other labs, and overall testing availability was unaffected.
But some scientists raised alarm that the false negatives could have contributed to the spread of cases.

UK Lab Suspended For Incorrectly Giving Negative COVID-19 Results

French president, Emmanuel Macron, has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now scheduled to self-isolate for the next week.
In a statement, the presidency said Macron was tested after the “onset of the first symptoms.” Reads the statement:
<blockquote>The president tested positive for COVID-19 today (Thursday).
He will continue to work and carry out his activities remotely.</blockquote>
Macron joins a handful of prominent figures around the world who have so far tested positive for the coronavirus.
The list includes United States’ Donald Trump, United Kingdom’ Boris Johnson and Brazilian Jair Bolsonaro.

United Kingdom (UK) Prime Minister Mr Boris Johnson has hinted on the possibility of extending the lockdown as that country has been hit by the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
Johnson announced on Saturday that new restrictions across England would kick in after midnight on Thursday morning and last until Dec. 2.
UK has the biggest official death toll in Europe from COVID-19 and of late, it has been struggling to contain more than 20 000 new coronavirus cases a day amid warnings by scientists that a worst-case scenario of 80 000 fatalities this winter.
Senior cabinet minister Michael Gove told Sky News that he foresees the lockdown being extended beyond early December unless action is taken now. He said
<blockquote>We can definitively say that unless we take action now, the (health service) is going to be overwhelmed in ways that none of us could countenance.</blockquote>
The new lockdown announcement came 10 days after Johnson told parliament it would “make no sense at all” to “turn the lights out with a full national lockdown”.

Boris Johnson Warns UK Lockdown Could Be Extended

Many United Kingdom citizens have joined the #BorisOut campaign which seeks the ouster of Prime Minister Boris Johnson who is persecuted for the way he is handling the coronavirus.
The #BorisOut campaign is initiated after Mr Johnson has imposed a “very high” coronavirus alert level, Tier 3 on Greater Manchester as a measure to curb the spread of the coronavirus that has been on an upward trend in recent weeks.
Mr Johnson said he had no option but to take the tough decision as lockdown regulations were being violated. He said:
<blockquote>That means that pubs and bars must close, unless they are serving substantial meals, households can’t mix in doors, or in most outdoor settings.
In some public outdoor spaces groups must be limited to the rule of six.
And, we strongly advise against travel into and out of the area.</blockquote>
The citizenry say stringent measures will eventually take its toll on the economy resulting in deteriorating living standards as the majority’s sources of income would have been blocked.
Johnson says areas will come out of Tier 3 ‘when they are able to make progress’ as far as the rate of infections is concerned.
He said the measures that are put in place are reviewed every 28 days.

More Brits Join The #BorisOut Campaign

The UK Mayor who said Boris Johnson deserved to get sick with COVID-19 has lost her job as a paralegal at a UK Law firm BBC reports.
Councillor Sheila Oakes, who is the mayor for the Derbyshire town of Heanor, wrote on Facebook that “Johnson completely deserves this” and has defended her actions saying she posted without thinking and later on deleted her post and apologised.
Her other employer VHS Fletchers Solicitors said in a statement:
<blockquote>To wish illness upon anyone must be abhorrent to all right thinking members of the public. (Her views are) not shared by the partners or any other members of staff.</blockquote>
Boris Johnson is now out of the ICU after he was moved into intensive care after his condition deteriorated.

UK Mayor Who Said Boris Johnson Deserved COVID-19 Lose Her Paralegal Job At A UK Law Firm

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK) Boris Johnson this Thursday left the intensive care unit and is now back in the regular hospital ward where he will be closely observed.
Johnson was admitted to St Thomas’ Hospital on Sunday evening with a persistent high temperature and cough, and was rushed to intensive care on Monday where he spent three nights receiving treatment.
In a statement, a spokesman from Johnson’s office said:
<blockquote>The prime minister has been moved this evening from intensive care back to the ward, where he will receive close monitoring during the early phase of his recovery,” 
He is in extremely good spirits.</blockquote>
Johnson was the first world leader to be hospitalised with the coronavirus, forcing him to hand control of the country to foreign minister Dominic Raab.
The government statement did not indicate when Johnson may be able to resume leadership, and Raab, speaking before the latest announcement, had stressed the importance of allowing the prime minister to focus on recovery.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been admitted to hospital for tests, 10 days after testing positive for coronavirus, his office has said.
Johnson was taken to a London hospital on Sunday evening as a “precautionary step” taken on the advice of his doctor.
He had “persistent symptoms” – including a temperature.
Meanwhile, Johnson remains in charge of the government, but the foreign secretary, Dominic Raab, is expected to chair a coronavirus meeting on Monday morning.
In a statement, a Downing Street spokeswoman said:
<blockquote>On the advice of his doctor, the prime minister has tonight been admitted to hospital for tests.
This is a precautionary step, as the prime minister continues to have persistent symptoms of coronavirus 10 days after testing positive for the virus.

British PM Admitted To Hospital Over 'Persistent' Coronavirus Symptoms

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tested positive for coronavirus. 10 Downing Street has, however, said Johnson will continue to lead government response to the crisis.
Johnson posted a statement on Twitter confirming the development and said that he had developed mild symptoms over the last 24 hours and tested positive for coronavirus. <a href="https://twitter.com/BorisJohnson/status/1243496858095411200" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">He wrote</a>:
<blockquote>Over the last 24 hours, I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus. I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus. Together we will beat this.</blockquote>
According to Kate Proctor, Johnson will self-isolate for seven days in No 11 Downing Street. His meals will be left outside the door for him so he won’t come into contact with others.
Meanwhile, <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/live/world-52058788" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">BBC</a> reports that Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel is self-isolating after a doctor who gave her a vaccination tested positive while Canada’s Justin Trudeau is also self-isolating with his wife Sophie after she tested positive following a trip to London.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson Tests Positive For Coronavirus

The United Kingdom has finally left the European Union. Britain could have left the Union on 29 March 2019 but UK Conservative MPs voted against BREXIT three times leading to the resignation of then Prime Minister, Theresa May.
A public vote (known as a referendum) was held in June 2016, <a class="story-body__link" href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/politics/eu_referendum/results">when 17.4 million people opted for Brexit</a>. This gave the Leave side 52%, compared with 48% for Remain.
BREXIT has now just entered into a transition period is meant to give both sides some breathing space while a new free trade agreement is negotiated.
Aside from trade, many other aspects of the future UK-EU relationship will also need to be decided. For example:
