The NewsHawks reported that a state security official dealing with the current situation, including the planned March 31 protests, said that people may be the biggest losers again in the latest round of the ZANU PF succession battle.
The official, who was not named for professional and security reasons, is quoted as saying:

The security officials also voiced concern over the country being swept into an internal ZANU PF issue, without clarifying how such a shift would improve the living conditions and material well-being of the people. Said the official:

Yes, Geza has tried to seize the moment and opportunity of socio-economic disgruntlement around the country to fuel and incite anger against Mnangagwa’s government, but do you think people benefit from this? It is because they don’t trust the process and don’t want to be used again, as happened in 2017.
While the disgruntled war veterans have gained a lot of popularity and traction with Geza’s incessant attacks, that whole cabal, fronting some wounded interests and comrades, has made some strategic blunders by revealing why they want regime change.
It is all about themselves, not the people. They are fighting for their time to eat. It might be difficult to mobilise the people for March 31. Yes, people are suffering, but they don’t want to be used. That is clear. 
The situation is made worse by the fact that people like popular opposition leader Nelson Chamisa and those within his latent structures are not involved in this.
In our assessment, based on the current situation and past experiences, Zimbabweans are not only wiser-after they were used, shortchanged and abandoned in 2017-but also contextual and discerning.

Former ZANU PF central committee member, Blessed Runesu Geza, says there is no justification for 16 million Zimbabweans to suffer at the hands of what he referred to as criminals surrounding President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
On Wednesday, 26 March 2025, Geza released a new video reiterating his calls for “an uprising” to force Mnangagwa to resign on March 31. He declared:

ZANU PF Expels War Veteran Blessed Geza

National Prosecuting Authority on Wednesday, 26 February, dropped the charges against Basil Nyabadza, the former chairman of the Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (ARDA), before he could enter a plea.
Nyabadza is accused of defrauding Blessed Geza of US$1,362,000 in a land deal. Geza, a veteran of Zimbabwe’s War of Independence and a member of the ZANU PF Central Committee, is currently hiding because he faces charges of inciting violence, theft, and insulting the president.
As reported by <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/geza-loses-case/">The Herald</a>, prosecutor Anesu Chirenje told the court that Nyabadza would be summoned again once Geza is available to appear in court.
Nyabadza disagreed with this decision and wanted the charges to be read to him and the trial to begin.
However, the new magistrate, Donald Ndirowei, who replaced Tilda Mazhande after she stepped down in the morning, agreed with the State’s decision to drop the charges before the plea.
Dropping the charges before the plea means that the evidence could be used again if Nyabadza is tried in the future.
If the charges had been dropped after the plea, it would have been an automatic acquittal, and the evidence could not be used again.
Last week, Magistrate Mazhande had warned that she would remove Nyabadza from remand if Geza did not appear in court, but Mazhande later stepped down from the case for personal reasons.
It is alleged that on October 29, 2020, Geza purchased a 423,504-hectare piece of land from Nyabadza for US$1,362,000, with Geza granted exclusive rights to subdivide, develop, and sell the land.
Nyabadza reportedly misrepresented that the land had title deeds, promising to provide them within a month but never did.
While Geza was working on subdivision permits, he discovered that Nyabadza had sold the same land to Velda Estates.
Geza later learned that the sale agreement had been cancelled without his knowledge after attempting to resolve the matter with Nyabadza.

Fraud Charges Dropped Against Nyabadza Pending Geza's Return

Alpha Media Holdings’ senior reporter, Blessed Mhlanga, handed himself over to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Law and Order division at Harare Central Police Station on Monday morning. He was promptly arrested and charged.
Last week, ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi appealed to the public for help in locating Mhlanga, who was wanted for violating a section of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.
Mhlanga said on Friday he could not report to the police due to illness.
On Monday, the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) confirmed that Mhlanga had been arrested and charged with two counts of violating Section 164 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act for allegedly transmitting data messages that incite violence. Said ZLHR:

The charge emanates from some statements, which were allegedly uttered by Blessing Geza, a liberation war veteran and a ZANU PF political party central committee member on 27 January 2025 and on 11 February 2025.
Mhlanga, who works for HStv, was interrogated by ZRP officers on Monday 24 February 2025 about the broadcaster’s operations and press conferences allegedly addressed by Geza.
Mhlanga, who is represented by Chris Mhike of [the ZLHR], is set to be detained overnight at Harare Central Police Station and is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.

Blessed Mhlanga Arrested For Interviewing Blessed Geza

However, Geza’s outspoken stance has drawn the ire of the state. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has filed criminal charges against him.
Last Wednesday, ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi issued a statement saying that Geza was wanted for questioning in connection with four separate criminal charges.
Geza faces allegations of theft under Section 113 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act (Chapter 9: 23), related to the alleged theft and sale of three vehicles belonging to a complainant without consent.
He is also being charged with two counts of “Undermining the Authority of or Insulting the President” under Section 33 (2) (a) (ii) of the same Act.
Lastly, Geza faces a charge of “Incitement to Commit Public Violence” under Section 187 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act (Chapter 9: 23).
Nyathi further warned that anyone assisting Geza in evading police questioning would face arrest and prosecution.
Critics have raised concerns over the timing of the theft charges, suggesting that they could be politically motivated.
Some argue that Geza is being persecuted for challenging Mnangagwa, while others speculate that if the charges are genuine, then it proves that rogues and criminals are protected as long as they toe the party line.

Factional tensions became evident recently when two groups of ZANU PF supporters were heard chanting pro-Mnangagwa and pro-Chiwenga songs at the Heroes Acre.
Geza, along with some war veterans, has publicly called for Mnangagwa to step down, accusing him of cronyism, corruption, and nepotism.
At a media briefing at the ZANU PF headquarters on Thursday, Mutsvangwa dismissed Geza’s stance, claiming that he was being misled by “fools.” He said:

Comrade Geza, I do not know what other issues might be bothering you, but we, the war veterans, always remember… I wish he would not follow fools who are misleading him. I am deeply concerned about what is happening with him.

Mnangagwa’s term is set to end in 2028, and he has repeatedly stated that he will not seek another term. However, critics remain sceptical, as current developments suggest the opposite.

Mutsvangwa: War Veteran Bombshell Geza Being Misled By "Fools"

ZANU PF Secretary for War Veterans, Douglas Mahiya, warned war veterans opposing President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s extended rule that they could be silenced indefinitely, reported <a href="https://cite.org.zw/mahiya-threatens-to-silence-war-veterans-opposing-mnangagwas-extended-stay-in-office/">CITE</a>.
His remarks were aimed at Blessed Runesu Geza and other veterans critical of Mnangagwa’s leadership, citing issues like corruption and cronyism.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has launched a manhunt for Geza, who faces criminal charges, including theft, undermining the authority of the President and incitement to violence.
Mahiya also claimed that had Mnangagwa been less principled, ZANU PF could have declared a state of emergency to extend his rule, citing the sanctions imposed on the country as akin to a declaration of war by Western powers.
Mahiya made comments during the launch of a War Veterans Fund and empowerment programme in Bulawayo on Saturday. Said Mahiya:

We were sanctioned by the West. That’s a sign that we are in a war. When a country has sanctions, when people are in a war, they can stop going for elections because they are in a war and declare a state of emergency.
Mnangagwa is a proper, listening, educated leader, but if the country was under someone else, we could have declared that ‘we are in a state of emergency and there are no elections.’ Then we would remove Mnangagwa from power only if he died…
The leadership we want is not one of a person who is highly educated or who has a character that we don’t know.
We want a leader who has a character and hunhu that we know, and that has been shown by Mnangagwa in the period that he has been running the country. He can extend his term so that the population can benefit.
So if you refuse, we have the right, although forbidden by the law, to act otherwise to stop you indefinitely from saying such things.

Mahiya warned war veterans not to believe that their participation in the liberation struggle grants them the authority to oppose plans to extend Mnangagwa’s term, especially when the majority support it. He said:

It doesn’t give you power, if you do not follow what people want, your going to Zambia and being a war veteran will be useless. You won’t have standing because you are ganging against the people.
I don’t expect, as the secretary of war veterans, to hear any other war veteran say the opposite because the party’s constitution says our duty as the league is to protect the interests of the party and its leadership, which is the resolution that was made here in Bulawayo. That is the interest of the party, and we also protect the leadership.

A resolution from the ZANU PF National People’s Conference in Bulawayo last year called for amending the Constitution to extend Mnangagwa’s second and final term until 2030.

War veteran Douglas Mahiya warned other veterans who don't want President Mnangagwa to stay in power longer. He said they could be silenced forever. Mahiya is mad at Blessed Geza and others who criticize Mnangagwa for being corrupt and having too many friends in power. The police are looking for Geza because of criminal charges. Mahiya thinks the country is at war because of sanctions. He said if Mnangagwa wasn't a good leader, they could have declared a state of emergency to keep him in power. Mahiya warned war veterans not to go against the majority who want Mnangagwa to stay until 2030.

Mahiya: War Veterans Opposing "ED 2030" Will Be Silenced Forever

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched a manhunt for war veteran Blessed Geza Runesu, also known as “Bombshell.”
In a statement released this Wednesday, ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that Geza is wanted for questioning in connection with four separate criminal charges, which are detailed below:

<li>Theft allegations as defined in Section 113 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, Chapter 9: 23. The suspect stole and disposed three vehicles belonging to a complainant without his consent.</li>
<li>He is also facing two Counts of contravening Section 33 (2) (a) (ii) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, Chapter 9: 23, “Undermining the Authority of or Insulting the President.</li>
<li>One count of contravening Section 187 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, Chapter 9: 23, “Incitement to commit public violence”.</li>
</ul>

Nyathi warned that anyone found harbouring Geza or assisting him to evade police questioning will face arrest and prosecution.

War Veteran "Bombshell" Geza Wanted By ZRP On Multiple Criminal Charges

War veteran and ZANU PF Central Committee member Blessed Runesu Geza is facing a civil case over his alleged seizure of Harare Safari Lodge.
As reported by <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/geza-in-us15m-harare-safari-lodge-dispute/">The Herald</a>, the case stems from an alleged failure to pay US$1.5 million for the property, which he is accused of acquiring in 2020 from former owner Brett Allan McDonald.
Geza reportedly claims that the land is State property, and therefore unsellable, arguing that the sale agreement is invalid.
The terms of the deal required him to purchase McDonald’s entire shareholding in the lodge for US$1.5 million, with payment due within two weeks.
However, Geza is accused of not paying anything since the agreement was made, despite taking up residence at the lodge and using its assets.
McDonald has sought legal recourse to reclaim the property, with the case now escalated to the High Court.
Geza’s legal team maintains that the agreement is void, asserting that the property was acquired by the State in 2005, and that the sale of shares was unlawful.
The dispute continues, with a pre-trial conference held in May last year failing to resolve the issue.
The court has ruled that the case must proceed to trial to determine ownership of the property, the validity of the agreement, and whether McDonald lawfully cancelled the deal.
In the meantime, McDonald’s lawyer, Simbarashe Chigumira, has expressed concerns about threats made against him by Geza. Said Chigumira:

So, our client entered into an agreement of sale for shares in a company. In terms of that agreement, Mr Geza was supposed to pay the amount of US$1 500 000 within 14 days of signing the agreement.
The parties signed the agreement in December 2020, but Mr Geza did not manage to raise the purchase price for the shares.
Another term of the agreement was that upon purchasing the shares, Mr Geza would consequently take over the Harare Safari Lodge, which is currently housed at Lake Chivero.
But despite failing to raise the purchase price, Mr Geza took occupation of the lodge without our client’s consent.
Our client advises us that Mr Geza forcibly removed his staff from the property and that he’s even occupied the primary residence, which belongs to our client, and which was never part of the agreement.

Geza Accused Of Seizing Harare Safari Lodge And Failing To Pay US$1.5 Million

Workers at Blessed Runesu Geza’s farm in Sanyati on Monday apprehended a 19-year-old man, suspected of spying after he was caught taking pictures of their boss’ farmhouse.
The young man, who identified himself as Nigel Murwira, was swiftly handed over to the police in Sanyati for further questioning.
At the time of the incident, Geza, a war veteran and ZANU PF central committee member was not present at the farm.
However, farm manager Isaiah Lozane told <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200038157/man-caught-spying-at-gezas-farm">NewsDay</a> that their suspicions were aroused when they noticed a car with South African registration plates dropping off the young man near the property. Said Lozane:

He started shooting pictures of the main house, and that’s when we confronted him. The young man gave incoherent answers about his mission.
At first, he claimed he was looking for employment as a general labourer but after interrogation he said he had been sent by people he was not at liberty to name to take pictures of the farm structures and get US$200 as payment.

The suspected spy reportedly attempted to flee during interrogation and was injured while climbing the perimeter fence. Added Lozane:

He later claimed that he had been picked up at Patchway along Kadoma-Sanyati Road by unidentified men to Geza’s farm where his mission was to take pictures in return for $200.
He told me that along the way the men in the Honda Fit were being directed by someone on the phone because none of us knew where the farm was.

The men in the Honda Fit, realising that Murwira was under arrest, sped off in a hurry, disappearing into the distance.
Meanwhile, Geza, the former Sanyati legislator, finds himself at the centre of a political storm. He has been clashing with powerful figures within his own party who are pushing for an extension of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term until 2030.
Geza, a staunch war veteran, is leading a faction that opposes the term extension, while Mnangagwa’s loyalists have been rallying against him, calling for his expulsion from the party and even arrest.

Outspoken war veteran Blessed “Bombshell” Geza has issued a stern warning to Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Commissioner General Stephen Mutamba, urging him not to shoot any Zimbabwean exercising their democratic right to demonstrate.
In an interview with HStv, Geza said that no one should be arrested for protesting and declared that war veterans would take action if the police resorted to such measures.
He stressed that the right to demonstrate is sacred, pointing out that countless Zimbabweans shed their blood and gave their lives to secure this fundamental freedom. Said Geza (via <a href="https://masvingomirror.com/dont-shoot-demonstrators-bombshell-geza-warns-police-chief/">The Mirror</a>):

Be warned (Mutamba); if we hear there is anyone arrested for the enjoyment of his/her constitutional rights, you will see it. We will deal with you. Don’t be used by anybody on the basis of your relationship or nepotism. I want to warn members of the security forces, in particular the Police.

Geza also spoke out against the many roadblocks on Zimbabwe’s roads, warning Commissioner General Mutamba not to turn the country into a police state.
Geza is part of a group of war veterans who have openly opposed ZANU PF’s plans to change the Constitution and delay the 2028 elections, which would allow President Emmerson Mnangagwa to stay in office until 2030.

Blessed Geza, a war veteran, warned the police chief not to arrest or shoot peaceful protesters in Zimbabwe. He said protesters have the right to demonstrate, and the war veterans will take action if police use force. Geza also criticized too many roadblocks in the country and warned against turning Zimbabwe into a police state. He is against changing the Constitution to delay elections and keep President Mnangagwa in power. Geza wants everyone to respect people's rights and not abuse their power.

Geza Says War Veterans Will Respond If Police Use Force On Peaceful Demonstrators

ZANU PF Politburo member Ziyambi Ziyambi has said that President Mnangagwa and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga are united and working together, and there is no factionalism within the party.
Speaking at the party’s Mashonaland West Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting in Chinhoyi on Wednesday, Ziyambi asserted that claims of factional fights within the party are false. He said (via <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/no-feud-between-president-vp/">The Herald</a>):

We now have a clique of people who are fanning divisions within our party, claiming to be representing and speaking on behalf of our leaders President Mnangagwa and his deputies.
There is no division between President Mnangagwa and Vice President Chiwenga and claims that there are factional fights within the party are false.
I am a Politburo member who has never seen Vice President Chiwenga disobey and denigrate his superior. This should be a shining example for all of us.
When Vice President Chiwenga joined Cabinet, he taught me a lot about politics, and the main thing he taught me was to be loyal and respectful.
I have never heard President Mnangagwa say he despises his deputy or Vice President Chiwenga. Who are you (Geza) to claim that there is bad blood between the two?

Chiwenga Loyal To Mnangagwa, No Factionalism In ZANU PF, Says Ziyambi

ZANU PF has thrown its weight behind President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the party’s decision to extend his second and final term from 2028 to 2030.
This follows recent calls for Mnangagwa’s resignation by Central Committee member Blessed Geza and some war veterans, who accuse him of constitutional violations, escalating corruption, and betraying the ideals of the liberation struggle.
Geza and several other war veterans are opposed to Resolution Number 1 from the ZANU PF Annual National People’s Conference held in Bulawayo in October 2024, which calls for the extension of Mnangagwa’s term beyond 2028.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, February 5, ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity and Party Spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa said the party would take disciplinary action against Geza for his remarks. Said Mutsvangwa:

The outlandish, treasonable and egregious rantings of errant Runesu Geza offended the hallowed tenets of Party Discipline for a Member of the Central Committee.
They also involved reckless attempts to usurp the credentials of War Veteran entities in good standing with ZANU-PF, the Party of the Permanent Zimbabwe Revolution.
The relevant party organs of organization and discipline are currently seized with this contravention as it is holistically and expeditiously handled and dispensed with.
The Department of Information assures the Party membership of absolute loyalty of the rank and file supporters to President Mnangagwa and that they retain full confidence of the full and legal implementation of Resolution #1 of the Oct 2024 Bulawayo Conference under the aegis of the 2013 Constitution of Zimbabwe.

ZANU PF Politburo member and Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Ziyambi Ziyambi, said that the party would request Police Commissioner-General Stephen Mutamba to arrest war veteran and Central Committee member Blessed Runesu Geza on charges of murder.
Speaking to ZANU PF members at a meeting in the North Court, Zvimba East Constituency, on February 3, Ziyambi called for an investigation into Geza’s alleged involvement in the death of an unnamed individual at his homestead several years ago. Said Ziyambi:

In the past, he murdered someone at his homestead and the case was not thoroughly investigated. If you murder someone the case does not just disappear, we’re going to tell Mutamba to investigate.

ZANU PF’s Mashonaland West Province has recommended the expulsion of Geza from the party, citing allegations of undermining and threatening President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Geza has accused Mnangagwa of violating the constitution, exacerbating corruption, and betraying the principles of the liberation struggle. He has also called for Mnangagwa’s immediate resignation.

ZANU PF Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi says Geza is a murderer and should be arrested. Geza is accused of killing someone at his home years ago. Ziyambi wants the police to investigate. Geza Is A Murderer, Says Ziyambi

ZANU PF Central Committee member and war veteran, Blessed Runesu Geza, has apologized for his involvement in the removal of the late former president, Robert Mugabe, in November 2017, which led to the rise of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
In an interview with <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200037822/zanu-pf-seeks-to-oust-treasonous-ed-critic-geza-report">HSTV</a>, a digital broadcaster owned by Alpha Media Holdings, Geza, who is reportedly facing the possibility of expulsion from the ruling party, claimed that once Mnangagwa assumed power, he escalated corruption, neglected the people, and focused primarily on his family. Said Geza:

We gave you Mnangagwa with the hope that he would lead our country toward recovery, uphold the constitution, and restore hope to the people.
But as soon as he tasted power, he escalated corruption, abandoned the people, and remembered only his family.
We fought for a Zimbabwe where everyone would have a seat at the table, not for a few thieves cloaking themselves in robes of power. It is unacceptable for a small clique to ruin the legacy of the liberation struggle.
I wish to apologize for being one of the people who worked hard to oust the late Robert Mugabe to replace him with Mnangagwa.
With hindsight now I regret that… It is us who gave you Mnangagwa, we put you (sic) in State House with the hope that he would set our country on a path for recovery, respect the constitution, and give the people hope.
As soon as he had the taste of power, he escalated corruption, forgot the people and remembered only his family.

We cannot fold our hands and let Cde Geza go haywire. If he wanted to denounce the President, he should have waited for the party’s Congress slated for 2027, where any member is allowed to challenge the sitting First Secretary and President as we elect a new leader and presidential candidate.
Our party’s constitution, and specifically Article 3, requires us to be honest and loyal to ZANU PF and its leaders who were elected by the masses.

Ziyambi asserted that ZANU PF Mashonaland West Province disassociates itself from Geza’s comments and supports the decision to extend Mnangagwa’s second term by two years. He said:
<blockquote>
Nobody in Mashonaland West is supporting his shenanigans, as a province, we solidly stand firm behind the resolution to extend the President’s second term by two years so that he realises his Vision 2030. 
We have since resolved to recommend the expulsion of Cde Geza, and the National Chairman, Cde Oppah Muchinguri, is seized with our decision. It now lies with the National Disciplinary Committee.

Geza has been accused of boycotting the Provincial Co-ordinating Committee (PCC), Provincial Executive Committee (PEC), and Central Committee meetings.
Provincial chairperson, Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, said that Geza’s comments were considered treasonous, which led to the decision to expel him.
Marian Chombo, a ZANU PF central committee member and Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, as well as a member of the National Disciplinary Committee, urged Geza to publicly retract his comments and apologise before the committee takes action against him.

ZANU PF Mashonaland West Province wants to kick out Blessed "Bombshell" Geza for disrespecting President Mnangagwa. They say Geza made bad comments about the party and the President. ZANU PF members in the province support extending Mnangagwa's term. Geza is accused of not going to important party meetings. The province thinks Geza's comments are like treason, so they want him expelled. Another member wants Geza to say sorry before they kick him out. Geza might be in trouble for not following party rules.
