Munyaradzi Kufahakutizwi, who was running as the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) candidate for the Mabvuku-Tafara constituency in the 23-24 August 2023 harmonised elections, has been arrested. He has been charged with assault and malicious property damage, according to Prosper Mkwananzi, the party’s spokesperson. Said Mkwananzi on X:

Alert: Hon @KufaMunyaof Mabvuku-Tafara constituency is currently held at Harare Central Police and will soon be taken to Rotten Row Magistrates Court on trumped-up charges of assault and malicious damage to property.

Kufahakutizwi who was elected Member of Parliament for Mabvuku-Tafara Constituency in the 23 August 2023 harmonised elections recently <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/2023/12/10/as-zimbabweans-it-is-high-time-we-stand-up-kufahakutizwi/">called on Zimbabweans to stand up and defend themselves against ZANU PF</a>’s disregard for the constitution.
He was commenting on the High Court order which barred him from contesting in the Mabvuku-Tafara constituency by-election to fill the vacant post which became vacant when he was recalled from Parliament by Sengezo Tshabangu. He said:

They are squeezing us to the bone and pushing us towards a One-Party State.
We believe that they did this to attain a two-thirds majority so they amend the constitution and allow President Emmerson Mnangagwa to be a life president.
As Zimbabweans, it is high time we stand up because we cannot continue being ruled by this heartless government. People are really angry.
They took away the life of an innocent pastor who was campaigning; if they had known that they would just take the seat they should have spared his life because now they have destroyed his family’s future.

CCC's Mabvuku-Tafara Candidate Kufahakutizwi Arrested

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has said police are currently investigating the murder of Tapfumaneyi Masaya. Masaya, a clergyman and activist for the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party, was <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/2023/11/14/police-confirm-death-of-tapfumanei-masaya/">allegedly abducted and later found dead</a> in Harare. He had been conducting a political campaign when he was abducted. The CCC has claimed that Masaya suffered severe injuries and his body had decomposed due to the injection of a harmful substance. There are calls for the police to thoroughly investigate his murder. In an update on the case, police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police wishes to appeal to the public or politicians to allow the investigations to proceed normally without any form of distraction or interference. Current investigations, though still in motion, indicates that this is a purely murder case.
Full information will be released once comprehensive investigations are concluded.

Police Still Investigating Tapfumaneyi Masaya's Murder

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) supporters in Mabvuku -Tafara Constituency have accused <a href="https://pindula.co.zw/Pedzai_Sakupwanya">Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya</a>, who is the ZANU PF candidate in the 09 December by-elections, of the abduction and subsequent murder of Tapfumaneyi Masaya.
Masaya was abducted in broad daylight while conducting door-to-door campaigns for CCC’s candidate Munyaradzi Kufahakutizwi who is running against Sakupwanya.
Speaking to <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/mabvuku-residents-say-zanu-pf-moneybag-scott-sakupwanya-responsible-for-murder-of-ccc-activist/">NewZimbabwe.com</a> at Masaya’s funeral wake in Mabvuku, CCC supporters who declined to be named for fear of the police claimed they saw the abduction unfolding before their eyes.
They alleged that Sakupwanya’s runners and supporters were responsible for the abduction.
One of the residents who claims to have witnessed Masaya’s kidnapping was quoted as saying:

It is clear that this is Sakupwanya’s doing but we do not know how saying this will be interpreted by the police considering what (Job) Sikhala is going through.
He knows we know that it was him and the same thugs whose names we gave to the police know that they were seen.
Our hope is that the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) acts on what it has been told at least so that just is partly served.

CCC activist and Mabvuku resident Tonderai Dombo told NewZimbabwe.com that they are now fearing for their lives as Masaya was not a senior member of the party. Said Dombo:

We do not know why they would do all this though. Masaya was neither a senior member of this movement to have influence that could attract such a reaction. This shows that we are all in danger.

Masaya, who was a pastor at Pillar of the World Church, left behind his wife Maria Zhuwawo and their three children.

CCC Supporters Say Scott Sakupwanya Responsible For Murder Of Tapfumaneyi Masaya

Munyaradzi Kufahakutizwi, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) candidate for Mabvuku-Tafara Constituency in the 09 December by-election, said that he is considering pulling out of the race following the abduction and murder of a key member of his campaign team.
Tapfumaneyi Masaya was allegedly abducted by suspected ZANU PF supporters while conducting door-to-door campaigns for Kufahakutizwi on Saturday.
His body was found dumped at the intersection of Arcturus Road and Lobho Road, Cleveland area, Harare on Sunday.
Speaking to journalists at CCC’s Tuesday Press Conference, Kufahakutizwi said Masaya’s abduction and murder were weighing down heavily on him. He said:

We are in pain as the Mabvuku family, as the CCC family. This is a dark cloud that has fallen upon us and what has made this disturbing is that he was campaigning for me.
He died while convincing people to vote for me.
There was no President to vote for, no council but me after my recall. I want to engage the party on whether going for the by-election is worth all this, at the end of the day we cannot preside over dead bodies.

<a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/cccs-mabvuku-by-election-candidate-kufahakutizwi-considers-dropping-out-of-race-after-supporters-abduction-murder/">NewZimbabwe.com</a> reported that some of the clothes worn by Masaya on the day, including his underwear, were found stashed in a police trunk.
Another CCC activist, Jeffrey Kalosi was abducted together with Masaya, blindfolded and assaulted before being dumped near Chabwino.
Kalosi is reportedly assisting police with investigations amid reports he has been barred from referring to the incident as an abduction.
Kufahakutizwi is among CCC legislators recalled by <a href="https://pindula.co.zw/Sengezo_Tshabangu">Sengezo Tshabangu</a> in a move critics believe is aimed at decimating the opposition and giving ZANU PF a parliamentary majority to allow it to amend the constitution.

CCC’s Mabvuku By-election Candidate Kufahakutizwi Contemplates Pulling Out Of Race

Police have confirmed that the body that was found in the Cleveland area, Harare on Sunday is that of Tapfumanei Masaya.
Masaya (51), who was a CCC activist and a pastor at Pillar of the World Church, was allegedly abducted by unknown people in Mabvuku, Harare, on Saturday.
His party said he was abducted while conducting a door-to-door political campaign to drum up support for Munyaradzi Kufahakutizwi, the CCC candidate for upcoming parliamentary by-elections in Mabvuku-Tafara.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi on Tuesday said Masaya’s body was identified by his next of kin. He said:

Reference is made to the Police’s press statement issued on 13th November 2023 in connection with the body found at the intersection of Arcturus Road and Lobho Road, Cleveland area, Harare on 12th November 2023. 
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that the body has been identified by the next of kin as that of Tapfumanei Masaya (51).
The Police is currently conducting comprehensive investigations on the circumstances surrounding Tapfumanei Masaya’s death while at the same time waiting for the full post-mortem report.

Meanwhile, CCC said that Masaya sustained severe injuries all over his body following his abduction. The opposition party said:

Pastor Tapfumanei Masaya suffered severe wounds throughout his body during his harrowing ordeal at the hands of the regime in Harare, ultimately leading to his tragic death. His body is now in a decomposed state due to the injection of a harmful substance.
Hon Kufa has shared this distressing information after personally examining the body at Parirenyatwa. There are worms emerging from his body.

Kufahakutizwi is reportedly considering pulling out of the 09 December by-election. He is asking himself if it is “worth it” running in the vote after the clergyman was abducted and murdered while campaigning for him.

Police Confirm Death Of Tapfumanei Masaya

CCC activist, Bishop Tapfumaneyi Masaya, who was allegedly abducted by unknown assailants last week in Mabvuku while campaigning for the party’s candidate in the 09 December by-elections, Munyaradzi Febion Kufahakutizwi, has been found dead.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), CCC deputy spokesperson Gift “Ostallos” Siziba announced Masaya’s death and demanded justice for the slain political activist. He said:

Our Change Champion, Bishop Tapfumaneyi Masaya, who was abducted in Mabvuku while campaigning, has been found dead.
They recalled a legitimately elected MP of Mabvuku, Hon. Kufa. Today, this has cost an innocent life. He shall have justice.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said a body was found at the intersection of Arcturus and Lobho Road in the Cleveland area in Harare. He said:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police is conducting investigations in connection with the location of a body at the intersection of Arcturus and Lobho Road, Cleveland area, Harare on 12th November 2023.
The identity of the victim is yet to be established.

CCC Harare Ward 16 councillor Denford Ngadziore said the unidentified body referred to by the police is of Masaya. <a href="https://x.com/DenfordNgadzio1/status/1724095313613308198?s=20">He posted on X</a>:
