ZANU PF has summoned its disqualified aspiring candidate for Chipinge South, Robert Nyemudzo, for a disciplinary hearing for allegedly orchestrating a “bhora musango” which is blamed for the party’s loss in the constituency in the 2023 Harmonised Elections.
Bhora Musango, a Shona language phrase that literally means “to deliberately kick the ball off the pitch, instead of scoring it”, was a clandestine campaign by some ZANU PF leaders in the run-up to the 2008 Harmonised Elections against voting for the party’s presidential candidate and leader Robert Mugabe.
ZANU PF fielded Enock Porusingazi in Chipinge South, who lost to the CCC candidate, Clifford Hlatswayo.
Nyemudzo is also accused of setting parallel party structures in the district.
He is expected to appear before the provincial disciplinary committee chaired by Linda Matatu, on 15 September, at the party’s provincial offices in Mutare.
A letter written by Matatu, which also serves as a prohibition order barring Nyemudzo from executing party business until the finalisation of the matter says:

This letter serves as a notice to appear before the provincial disciplinary committee on the 15th of September 2023 to answer or respond to the following allegations:
It is alleged that you funded a “bhora musango” in Chipinge South Constituency to the point of celebrating the ZANU PF loss.
It is alleged that you are creating parallel structures in Chipinge, vying for a District Coordinating Committee (DCC) position.
Please note that in terms of provisions of the party constitution, this notice serves as a prohibition order which means that you are not authorised to carry out party duties until this matter is discharged.

ZANU PF provincial chairman, Tawanda Mukodza confirmed the development to <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/bhora-musango-proponent-in-hot-soup/">The Manica Post</a>. He said:

Yes, it is true, we are hauling him before the disciplinary committee to answer the outlined charges.
We cannot let this cancer continue, otherwise, it will get out of hand and spoil everything.
It is important that in circumstances like this, the party shows its teeth.

Nyemudzo was declared the winner in Chipinge South constituency in the ZANU PF primary elections held in March 2023.
However, he was disqualified for operating an illegal brewery at Checheche Business Centre, and ZANU PF fielded the losing candidate in the primaries, Porusingazi, in the 23 August Harmonised Elections.

ZANU PF "Bhora Musango" Proponent Set For Disciplinary Hearing

Opposition leader Nelson Chamisa has claimed that ZANU PF MPs are dissatisfied with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s rule and have vowed to campaign against him in the upcoming elections. Speaking to his supporters recently, Chamisa alleged that Mnangagwa is not wanted in ZANU PF, and his MPs have told him that they will do a ‘bhora musango.’ Chamisa further claimed that Mnangagwa’s rule has benefited his family and that he is rewarding non-party members. He said:

This is no longer a party-aligned issue. In fact, it is Mnangagwa who is not wanted in Zanu PF. His MPs tell me that they will do a ‘bhora musango’. I said yes I’m bhora musango. They say his rule has benefitted his family. They say he is now rewarding some who are not from the party. That is why he has structures such as FAZ because he does not believe in us.

“Bhora Musango” is a Shona phrase that means “kick the ball into the bushes.” It was a term used to describe a strategy used by some ZANU PF members during the 2008 elections to protest against the party’s chosen candidates by deliberately spoiling their ballot papers. The strategy was widely believed to have been used against Robert Mugabe during the 2008 elections, mainly by people in Mt Darwin who voted for Joyce Mujuru but did not vote for Mugabe. The strategy involved deliberately spoiling ballot papers as a form of protest against Mugabe and the ruling ZANU PF party. 
Chamisa’s statements followed reports of fears of factionalism in the ruling party sparked by former commissar Saviour Kasukuwere. Kasukuwere, a kingpin of the G40 faction, announced his ambitions to run for the presidency, challenging his erstwhile colleague Mnangagwa. However, his ambitions suffered a blow after the Supreme Court upheld a High Court ruling barring him from contesting. Kasukuwere has since approached the Constitutional Court over the matter.

Chamisa Alleges ZANU PF MPs Oppose Mnangagwa, Plan Bhora Musango

Former State Security Minister Owen Ncube has warned ZANU PF aspiring Members of Parliament (MPs) against getting more votes than President Emmerson Mnangagwa in the 23 August elections.
<a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200013868/zanu-pf-threatens-its-poll-candidates">NewsDay</a> on Monday reported that Ncube, who is the ZANU PF Midlands provincial secretary for security, told ZANU PF candidates that it is not permissible for aspiring MPs and councillors to garner more votes in their constituencies and wards respectively, than Mnangagwa.
Ncube made the remarks while speaking in Gweru over the weekend during the Mkoba North constituency campaign launch. He said:

So when we are campaigning, it’s the President first, followed by the MP and then the councillor.
So our votes should go to baba (father) Mnangagwa because he is the President, the party leader and he is the head of the train. Then we vote for the MP and then the councillors.
The President’s vote and that of the MP should be the same. We don’t want a situation whereby the MP campaigns with his name only.
Come 23 August, we are going out in our numbers and voting for President ED Mnangagwa.

Reports suggest that there are fears in Mnangagwa’s camp of a bhora musango (protest vote) against the ZANU PF leader.

ZANU PF Candidates Warned Against "Bhora Musango"

ZANU PF supporters in President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s home province, Midlands, are reportedly rejecting recently elected party candidates in more than 10 constituencies.
<a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/thestandard/news/article/200011868/zanu-pf-grassroots-reject-2023-candidates">The Standard</a> reported sources as saying a protest vote is probable in constituencies where Mnangagwa’s allies allegedly manipulated voting during primary elections and deployed their associates to represent ZANU PF in the upcoming general elections.
Local Government and Public Works Minister July Moyo, former State Security Minister Owen Ncube, politburo member Mackenzie Ncube and Tsitsi Muzenda allegedly interfered with the running of the elections by Forever Associate Zimbabwe (FAZ) and Heritage Trust to ensure that “their people” won.
The FAZ, which is controlled by the Central Intelligence Organisation and the Heritage Trust linked to the army, ran ZANU PF primary elections.
ZANU PF supporters are reportedly not happy with the party’s candidates in Zvishavane, Chirumanzi-Zibagwe, Mkoba South, Mkoba Urban, Vungu, Redcliff-Silobela, Kwekwe Central, Mbizo, Gokwe North , Gokwe-Kana, Gokwe-Chireya, Gokwe South, Shurugwi North, Shurugwi South, Mberengwa and Gokwe Sesame. The Standard quoted a party insider as saying:

In Zvishavane-Runde, more than 10 districts did not vote because ward 7 councillor Mecky Jaravaza, who is also the district coordinating chairperson (DCC), elbowed out Dumezweni Mawite and declared himself the winner.
Larry Mavima was also elbowed out by the same DCC.
In Mberengwa, MPs Marko Raidza and Makhosini Hlongwane were also pushed out because they were not on the July Moyo/Mudha list.
In Chirumanzi district, Barbara Rwodzi ran the show and videos are there where she was forcing people to vote for her.
In Shurugwi North, the sitting MP Ronald Nyathi was pushed out while in Gweru district where Zanu PF had one seat, the sitting MP for Vungu constituency, Omega Sibanda, was pushed out after ballot papers were forcibly taken away from a constituency consultant (FAZ member) by a sitting MP from Kwekwe.
Brown Ndlovu, who has been a perennial loser in Chiwundura, is now the Vungu constituency candidate.
In Kwekwe, Manoki Mpofu was pushed out of Silobela constituency for Jona Nyebvera while Energy Dhala Ncube, a nephew of the former State Security minister Owen Ncube was unchallenged in Kwekwe Central.
In Gokwe South, they imposed Tawanda Karikoga despite the fact that he stays in South Africa while Paul Mavima was uncontested despite scandals.
In Gokwe North, Mayor Wadyajena was pushed aside because he was not part of their team.

Last week, ZANU PF deployed Politburo member, Lovemore Matuke, who is secretary for security, to Midlands to deal with the simmering tensions but the meetings were poorly attended.
Mnangagwa recently said he will announce election dates before the end of the month. He said the general elections will be held in August.

The ruling ZANU PF party is reportedly being ravaged by infighting, especially in President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s home province, Midlands, following controversial primary elections that were characterised by vote rigging and violence.
Documents obtained by <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/thestandard/news/article/200011541/trouble-brewing-in-ed-backyard">The Standard</a> show that ZANU PF is set to hold a series of crisis meetings to address tensions that were laid bare during the primary polls.
Party members are reportedly avoiding meetings called by some party candidates raising fears within ZANU PF circles of a “bhora musango” scenario in the upcoming general elections.
Bhora musango was a clandestine campaign by some ZANU PF leaders in the run-up to the 2008 harmonised elections, which urged the party members to vote against the late Robert Mugabe, despite voting for the party’s parliamentary and local authority candidates.
For instance, in Gokwe, former Cabinet minister Flora Buka, who beat sitting Gokwe-Nembudziya legislator Justice Mayor Wadyajena on Friday called for a meeting that was attended by 17 party supporters.
Lovemore Matuke, who is in charge of security in the ZANU PF politburo, is heading to Midlands on Tuesday to try and address the simmering tensions.
Matuke will address the provincial chairman, provincial commissar and his deputy, the provincial secretary for security.
He will also engage the top six of all the eight district coordinating committees and executive committees in Midlands.
All the 28 party candidates for the National Assembly have also been summoned to the crunch meeting. Reads a notice:

Please be advised that there will be a special meeting to be addressed by the national secretary for security Cde L. Matuke and members of his delegation on (Tuesday) May 16, 2023 Time: 11 am Venue: The Midlands Convention Centre — Gweru.
The meeting will discuss issues in regard to challenges being encountered by constituencies or matters related to lack of cohesion after the party primaries.

When contacted for a comment on Saturday, Matuke told The Standard that party spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa would issue a detailed statement.
Mnangagwa recently said he will announce the date for the elections before the end of this month but confirmed that the polls will be held in August.

ZANU PF In Bid To Douse Infighting In Mnangagwa's Backyard

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) president, Nelson Chamisa, has claimed that the US$40 000 loans given to Members of Parliament (MPs) were an attempt by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to bribe legislators to avoid losing in the 2023 elections.
In a video clip that has been circulating on social media platforms, Chamisa accused Mnangagwa of trying to use the housing loans for MPs to avert a “bhora musango” within the ruling party.
Bhora Musango is a strategy that was allegedly used by aspiring ZANU PF MPs and Councillors in 2008 whereby they campaigned for themselves while at the same time they de-campaigned the then-party presidential candidate, Robert Mugabe. Said Chamisa:

But it’s not so much about the CCC, it’s much about Mr Mnangagwa, trying to avert a ‘bhora musango’ within ZANU PF because he feels the MPs are going to vote for themselves and not campaign for him but campaign for Mukomana (referring to himself).
So, to try and oil the palms of the MPs, they couldn’t do it only for ZANU PF (MPs) from what I have investigated and I got a report this afternoon, they also had to do it for CCC.

Chamisa said CCC MPs, who were all elected in by-elections this year following the launch of the party in January, were supposed to have rejected the loans on principle. He said:

CCC MPs were not supposed to drink from this poisoned chalice. They have joined the pioneer column, they have joined the gravy train and they have crossed the line.
I’ve told them that if you don’t act accordingly, you know what it means. The citizens are waiting for you and they are going to punish you heavily.
… I don’t agree with it, I don’t encourage it, I don’t support it, and I don’t believe that people must be talking about their welfare when the nation is struggling the way we are struggling.
I went to the hospital, US$40 000 will do so much just to transform the outlook of our hospitals, in terms of linen and beds that are broken.
It’s a pathetic situation, the toilets are not functioning. There’s nothing, not even boreholes, no water but if you take US$40 000 it will do wonders.
For Parliament to want to behave like a bank or the government to turn itself into a bank that is giving loans, for me, defeats any logic.

Chamisa said he has since engaged CCC MPs over the loans which he described as bribes. He said:

In fact, to call it a loan, is to be very nice. This is a bribe disguised as a loan, a donkey is a donkey, even if it looks like a horse. No.
Let’s call spade a spade. You can’t call a lion a cat. It is a lion. If it’s a cat, it’s a cat. Don’t try to confuse the terms. Yes, I have engaged MPs.

The government has offered a US$40 000 housing loan to each sitting Member of Parliament (MP), US$500 000 for individual ministers and US$350 000 for their deputies.
Meanwhile, a group of data analysts, Team Pachedu, has advised Chamisa to bar the MPs from contesting in the 2023 general elections. Said Team Pachedu:

The statement by Nelson Chamisa is what Zimbabwe needs, we need servant leaders, not Chefs.
It would be best for him to go into 2023 with new MPs and drop anyone who accepted the ‘bribe’.
There is nothing constant as change. Many young people are ready to step up and lead.

Mnangagwa "Bribing" MPs To Avert "Bhora Musango", Says Chamisa

ZANU PF faces bhora musango (protest votes) in the forthcoming Gokwe-Kabuyuni parliamentary by-elections slated for 27 August 2022, a report claims.
This follows reports that the party sidelined some members of the Tonga community from voting after their names were reportedly missing from the voters’ roll for the primary elections.
One of the candidates, Manager Munkuli, who is a Tonga speaker, came second behind the eventual winner and gold baron, Spencer Tshuma, who garnered 4 336 votes. Munkuli polled 3 661 votes.
The other participants in the primary elections were Midlands State University lecturer in the Faculty of Social Sciences, Lyton Ncube, who won 220 votes and Tapera Nyoni who polled 363  votes.
Soon after Tshuma was announced the winner, ZANU PF WhatsApp social media groups were inundated by posts of anger from members.
The disgruntlement emanated from districts like Vumba, Mareka, Manyuli and Madhamu, which are predominantly Tonga-speaking.
Reports suggest that in those areas, at some polling stations voting was not conducted as registers were said to be missing while in some areas people just could not find their names.
However, Simbarashe Tumburayi, the ZANU PF Midlands provincial spokesperson, downplayed the irregularities. He said:

The primary elections went on well. There were no incidences of unfair play and the popular candidate won.

Tshuma said to the contrary, he was a victim of rigging but still won the primaries because he is popular. He said:
<blockquote>
The allegations against me are false. Cell registers went missing in all the districts, including in my stronghold areas, and I remember at a certain polling station where I commanded huge support, five of them (registers) could not be found, meaning I lost 250 votes.
I personally got a call from one of my agents to say there were multiple voting [incidents] at a particular polling station where my rivals had bussed people, so the rigging was against me.

I have put all that behind me. I won because I had built some small dams for people for free using my earthmoving machines.
The NewsHawks reported an unnamed top party official in Gokwe North District as saying registers were pulled out in well-known Tonga areas and many voters were turned away while in Karanga-speaking areas like Chireya and Madzivazvido where Tshuma had immense support, “voters voted willy nilly.”
The Gokwe-Kabuyuni seat fell vacant after the death of Leonard Chikomba who died mysteriously in a car crash in May, 20 kilometres from his Chitekete home.
Chikomba (67) was travelling alone on the fateful day from a ZANU PF Midlands provincial coordinating committee meeting held in Gweru.
He had reportedly clashed with the Gokwe-North district coordinating committee chairperson Justice Mayor Wadyajena over the imposition of district candidates for the women’s league conference that was slated for Harare the following month.

ZANU PF Faces "Bhora Musango" In Gokwe Kabuyuni By-Election, 2023 Polls

Political analyst <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Ibbo_Mandaza">Ibbo Mandaza</a> says President Emmerson Mnangagwa is fighting for his political life ahead of a ZANU PF congress set for October this year.
Mandaza believes the 79-year-old ZANU PF leader ould be ousted through “political manoeuvring” rather than a military coup.
This follows claims by former ZANU PF youth league leaders <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Godfrey_Tsenengamu">Godfrey Tsenengamu</a> and <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jim_Kunaka">Jim Kunaka</a> that Mnangagwa reneged on a power transfer deal with vice president Constantino Chiwenga who led the 2017 military coup that ousted Mnangagwa’s predecessor, Robert Mugabe.
After leading the 2017 coup as Zimbabwe Defence Forces commander, Chiwenga reportedly made a “gentleman’s agreement” with Mnangagwa that the latter would serve just one term and hand over power to him.
The SAPES Trust director is not sure if Mnangagwa will be ZANU PF’s candidate in the general elections due in the second half of 2023. <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/2022/07/mnangagwa-is-cornered-ibbo-mandaza-claims-political-plot-to-oust-zanu-pf-leader/">ZimLive</a> quotes Mandaza:

The utterances by Kunaka and Tsenengamu are yet another indication that all is not well in ZANU PF, that the factionalism is building to a climax ahead of the purported congress and above all that Mnangagwa’s political survival hangs in the balance.
But I rule out another coup; these appear to be political plots to outmanoeuvre Mnangagwa and force him to relent without a fight.

Mandaza said if Mnangagwa remains ZANU PF leader post-congress, Chiwenga loyalists may not help his campaign but give their votes to main opposition leader Nelson Chamisa. He said:

The bhora musango scenario appears more threatening than it did in 2008 (when Mugabe lost in the first round to opposition challenger Morgan Tsvangirai).
But that’s assuming Mnangagwa is a contender in 2023. I think it’s his (Chamisa’s) to lose, the presidential race in 2023, as things stand; but only through a broad alliance can the Citizens Coalition for Change garner a parliamentary majority.
And even after that, it would be advisable in my view to include selected ZANU PF stalwarts in the name of reconciliation and nation-building, especially after this bruising period of the last two decades that has left the country broken and divided.
Observations in some circles suggest Chamisa will need [self-exiled former ZANU PF political commissar Saviour] Kasukuwere in that broad alliance, but the selection I’m talking about should not be confined to key ZANU PF stalwarts who will have acquitted themselves in the parliamentary elections, but also Zimbabweans in the diaspora and in all cases taking cognisance of regional, ethnic representation and meritocracy.

Mnangagwa's Political Survival Hangs In Balance - Mandaza

ZANU PF activist <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Sybeth_Musengezi">Sybeth Musengezi</a> has warned that factionalism and disgruntlement are breeding seeds for another <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Bhora_Musango">“bhora musango”</a>, which will see ruling party members voting for the opposition in the 2023 general elections.
His statement comes as divisions in the ZANU PF’s Bulawayo province along factional lines have emerged amid reports that some of the women nominated for the party’s women’s league posts have alleged G40 links.
Musengezi, who recently challenged President <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Emmerson_Mnangagwa">Emmerson Mnangagwa</a>‘s 2017 ascendency to power, also accused the ZANU PF leadership of failing to properly run the country, which he said was giving leverage for the party faithful to vote for the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa recently admitted that there was factionalism in the ruling party. Speaking to Glenview 7 residents last week, he said:

Here in Harare, there is a lot of factionalism. Masimirembwa is struggling to contain factionalism in the province, and we don’t want that in the party. ZANU PF does not belong to individuals.

It is alleged that there are at least three factions in the ruling party – one led by Mnangagwa, another by his deputy Vice President <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Constantino_Chiwenga">Constantino Chiwenga</a> and another led by remnants of the vanquished G40 cabal.
Political analyst Maxwell Saungweme <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/2022/06/2023-ed-facing-bhora-musango/">told NewsDay</a> that people should not read much into the ZANU PF factional battles.
Another Political analyst Rejoice Ngwenya downplayed the internal conflict saying it won’t result in the ruling party losing power to the opposition.

ZANU PF officials in Bulawayo Province have expressed worry over the party’s failure to properly conduct the recent primary elections to select candidates for the March 26 by-elections.
The internal elections exposed deep-rooted factionalism in the province amid growing concerns the G40 faction might be taking control of the ruling party’s provincial structures.
ZANU PF insiders who spoke to The Zimbabwe Independent fear that the national leadership’s failure to address complaints raised soon after the primary elections might trigger a “bhora musango” scenario.
Bhora Musango was a clandestine campaign by some ZANU PF leaders in the run-up to the 2008 harmonised elections against voting for the party’s presidential candidate leader Robert Mugabe while voting for the party’s parliamentary and local council candidates. Said an unnamed official:

The primary elections were rigged and this will work against the President. For some wards, ballots were mixed so that people could not see their candidates.
Ballots never balanced with figures of up to 100 in some instances. That means people were smuggled even when they were not on the voting list.
Vote-buying was allowed with no questions asked. Complaints on the irregularities were not entertained while the provincial chair acknowledged there was something wrong with primaries.
The chairman must know that he is chairing a pure 70% G40 executive.

ZANU PF Bulawayo chairperson Jabulani Sibanda, who landed the post in December after years in the political wilderness, dismissed reports of factionalism and claims that complaints were swept under the carpet. He said:

However, the ZANU PF insider claimed Sibanda Sibanda was bypassed when candidates’ curriculum vitae were sent to the party’s head office. He said:

ZANU PF Officials Fearful Of A 'Bhora Musango' Scenario

Some ZANU PF supporters in Manicaland province have threatened to employ the “<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Bhora_Musango">Bhora Musango</a>” strategy in the 2023 elections by voting for MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa in protest over alleged rigging in last month’s provincial elections.
Bhora Musango was a clandestine campaign by some ZANU PF leaders in the run-up to the 2008 harmonised elections against voting for the party’s presidential candidate Robert Mugabe.
ZANU PF conducted provincial elections on 28 December amid reports of vote-buying, violence, and massive rigging in most districts.
Preliminary results released by ZANU PF’s national political commissar, Mike Bimha showed that in Manicaland, Mike Madiro retained the provincial chairmanship while Happiness Nyakuedzwa won in the women’s league and Stanely Sakupwanya in the youth league.
However, NewZimbabwe.com reported sources in ZANU PF as saying Nyakuedzwa won the election, but the poll was rigged in favour of Madiro.
According to the preliminary results, Madiro polled 16 263 votes against Nyakuedwa’s 14 748. One insider said:

In Makoni, the polls were delayed as the vehicle that was supposed to ferry the ballot papers arrived without them. Election coordinators claimed there was a mix-up.

Another supporter said it was strange that people who do not have support across the province won in the polls. Said the supporter:

How can someone win with a wide margin yet have lost support in the party? If the party’s leadership fails to address these legacy issues, we will easily change the goalposts in 2023 and vote for Chamisa.

An unnamed war veteran opined that delaying announcing the results by 72 hours raises questions on the integrity of the elections. He said:

Just imagine, we had to wait for three days for the results to be announced. After the results were announced, the leadership still claimed there is no winner or loser.
This shows that something fishy is happening and we will not condone this.

ZANU PF Supporters Threaten Another 'Bhora Musango'

ZANU PF supporters in parts of Masvingo province have threatened a protest vote in the 2023 election over the recently completed command livestock programme which they claim was biased in favour of party bigwigs and traditional leaders.

Ignatius Murindi, the Masvingo provincial war veterans chairperson who got five beasts, defended the distribution saying that the beneficiaries had more capacity to make the programme succeed compared to those complaining. He said:

Former minister of Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs Webster Shamu has urged voters to vote for people of their choice in the July 30 harmonised elections insisting that no one should tell them who to vote for. Shamu who was fired from his position as minister in May over allegations of plotting against President Emmerson Mnangagwa and conspiring to ensure another “Bhora Musango” told supporters at a rally in Mashonaland West,
<blockquote>I can’t tell you whom to vote for. You people here know the person you want, on the MP, councillor and President. Nobody should tell you who to vote for. You should express your wishes freely. You need to vote for your heart’s desire. You can’t have two councillors or two presidents. You can only choose one. You know the one you want. Choose that one…they did not want us, even me. I should not have been here as a candidate. For me to get into this race, I had to get a letter so that I contest.</blockquote>
Shamu’s message goes against what is being preached in Zanu-PF.  The party is urging for supporters to vote for the party regardless of how they feel about the candidates.  This comes after some parties won the party’s primary elections although there were allegations of irregularities such as rigging and intimidation.

"Nobody Should Tell You Who To Vote For": Webster Shamu Tells Supporters

Addressing a healing and reconciliation workshop for Zanu-PF’s winning and losing candidates in Harare earlier today, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga said there is no place for the Bhora Musango mantra in the party.
Said Chiwenga:

"Bhora Musango" Mantra Has No Place In Zanu-PF: Chiwenga

Disgruntled Zanu-PF supporters staged a demonstration at the Party Headquarters protesting against the outcome of the just ended primary elections. The polls were marred by allegations of intimidation, violence, rigging and vote buying. The protestors threatened to do another “Bhora Musango” if their grievances are not addressed. Bhora Musango refers to the situation where ruling party supporters vote for opposition candidates to ensure that the candidates they do not support are defeated.  The supporters were demonstrating against  Tongai Mnangagwa’s victory in Harare South.    Tongai is the nephew of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Special Adviser to President Emmerson Mnangagwa Christopher Mutsbangwa has also said that the war veterans <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2018/05/03/war-veterans-threaten-to-turn-against-zanu-pf-say-we-will-choose-people-not-party/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">will ditch the party and support the people unless preventive measures are taken</a> to rectify the situation. In a memo addressed to all provincial chairpersons with reference to guidelines sent out by the Commissariat on April 3, Zanu-PF Secretary for Administration Obert Mpofu urged all provinces not to disqualify aspiring candidates saying that is the decision of the Party headquarters not district nor province.
Mpofu’s move comes amid reports that disgruntled Zanu-PF members were planning to derail the party’s election campaign for being disqualified unfairly. Said Mpofu:

Leadership is disturbed and dismayed by this development and wants immediate correction to this matter. Former president Robert Mugabe’s nephew Patrick Zhuwao is alleged to be plotting with some members of the Zanu-PF Youth League to sabotage the party during the coming 2018 harmonised, elections. Zhuwao is alleged to be working with G40 Faction members who were not expelled from the party to organise another “Bhora Musango.” Zanu-PF Youth League national political commissar Godfrey Tsenengamu said:
