<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Yadah_FC/">Yadah Football Club</a> has requested a change of venue for its match against <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Highlanders_Football_Club/">Highlanders Football Club</a> from <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Barbourfields_Stadium/">Barbourfields Stadium</a> citing concerns about the security situation in Bulawayo.
The club said it is hesitant to travel there due to recent incidents where Highlanders supporters threw objects and invaded the pitch during a match against <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Dynamos_Football_Club/">Dynamos Football Club</a>, resulting in abandonment. Yadah believes that their players, officials, and supporters may be at risk in such an environment. As a result, they have formally requested a change of venue for the match, suggesting Bata Stadium in Gweru as an alternative.
In their letter to the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Premier_Soccer_League/">Premier Soccer League</a>, Yadah’s lawyers argued that the referees might face pressure from Highlanders supporters, potentially affecting their impartiality. Said the club’s lawyers:

In light of these circumstances, our client, Yadah FC, is of the firm view that the safety and well-being of its fans, players, and officials as well as other stakeholders which is of paramount importance have since been compromised in the wake of its impending fixture against Highlanders.
Consequent to these unfortunate events, our client is of the firm belief that it will be extremely challenging for it to receive fair treatment from the match officials.
The psychological impact of the violence, coupled with the lack of accountability for those responsible, casts a shadow of doubt on the objectivity and impartiality of the officiating team that will be in charge of the match in circumstances where the Highlanders fans will be in attendance.
This situation greatly undermines the principles of fair play and jeopardises the integrity of the game.
Our client anticipates that its players will be inhibited from performing to their full potential due to the fear of incensing Highlanders FC supporters. This fear could lead to a detrimental effect on their performance, resulting in an unfair competition, where the principle of fair play cannot be achieved.
All the circumstances considered, particularly the volatile and unsafe environment as well as the potential risks involved, we are instructed to request for a change of venue and subsequently propose an alternative solution for the upcoming match against Highlanders FC, which is likely to be played before the prevailing situation stabilises.
We are instructed to formally request, as we hereby do, for a change of venue for the aforementioned match from Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo to Bata Stadium in Gweru or any other neutral venue which is located outside the City of Bulawayo.

Yadah said they had also notified the Sports and Recreation Commission about the issue.
The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Republic_Police/">Zimbabwe Republic Police</a> has arrested 12 individuals believed to be connected to the violence at Barbourfields Stadium. Assistant Commissioner <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Paul_Nyathi/">Paul Nyathi</a>, the national police spokesman, confirmed the arrests and stated that two suspects were charged with violating the Firearms Act, four with criminal nuisance, and six with public violence. Nyathi assured the public that comprehensive investigations are ongoing to hold all involved individuals accountable.

Yadah FC Wants Highlanders Match Moved From Barbourfields Stadium Over Security Reasons

The ZIFA First Instance Body (FIB) has given Bata Stadium in Gweru, Midlands province, the green light to host Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) matches, again.
The stadium is home to top-flight side Sheasham Football Club who will host Herentals in a league encounter on Saturday.
FIB inspected Bata Stadium earlier this week and made the decision to have Sheasham play their home games at the venue.
The stadium was initially given the green light by the FIB to host league games but barely a week after Sheasham hosted Highlanders at the venue, the PSL Emergency Committee suspended the use of the stadium until all the work was completed.
Some of the work that needed to be completed at Bata Stadium included:
<ul>
<li>Clearing of debris</li>
<li>continuous maintenance of the turf (playing surface)</li>
<li>equipping the doping control room</li>
<li>completion of terraces</li>
<li>use of quarry stones in the parking areas</li>
<li>use of non-slippery material on the tunnel pathway</li>
<li>complete signposting of the facility.</li>
</ul>
Meanwhile, Sheasham face disciplinary action from the PSL after they failed to fulfill a fixture against CAPS United which had been scheduled for Mandava Stadium a fortnight ago.
Sheasham argued they had no money to travel from Gweru to Zvishavane, saying they had sunk all their resources into improvements on Bata Stadium.
The club will most likely be fined and at the same time lose three points.

Saturday: Chicken Inn v Black Rhinos (Luveve), Cranborne Bullets v Caps United (National Sports Stadium), Sheasham v Herentals (Bata).
Sunday: Highlanders v Bulawayo Chiefs (Barbourfields), Greenfuel v FC Platinum (Gibbo), Dynamos v ZPC Kariba (National Sports Stadium), Hwange v Manica Diamonds (Colliery).
Simba Bhora and Triangled United played to a 1-1 at the National Sports Stadium this Friday.
The match between Dynamos versus ZPC Kariba on Sunday and the Yadah versus Ngezi Platinum Stars game on Monday will be broadcast LIVE on ZTN Prime.

Bata Stadium Allowed To Host Premier Soccer League Matches, Again

Sheasham Football Club on Friday, 20 May wrote to ZIFA and the Premier Soccer League (PSL) requesting the postponement of their game against CAPS United scheduled for Sunday, 21 May at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane.
This follows a week of bickering over the suspension of the refurbished Bata Stadium in Gweru, Sheasham’s home ground.
In their letter to ZIFA and PSL, the Construction Boys claimed they were incapacitated to travel to Mandava and asked for the postponement of the match.
Sheasham have played their home games at Mandava since the beginning of the season while they were working on renovating Bata Stadium.
Bata Stadium was subsequently cleared to host PSL matches by the ZIFA First Instance Board two weeks ago and they played giants Highlanders a fortnight ago.
However, the PSL wrote to them informing them that Bata had been suspended from hosting Premiership matches last week.
Sheasham chairman Reginald Chidawanyika on Friday wrote to ZIFA and PSL asking for a postponement of the match. Wrote Chidawanyika:

We hereby apply for a postponement of our match with CAPS United scheduled for Mandava Stadium on the 21st of May 2023.
The major reason for seeking the postponement is that we are unable to secure the financial resources to host the match at such short notice.
… we only have today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) to raise all the financial resources necessary for us to host CAPS United at Mandava Stadium. This is a herculean task that we cannot overcome at such short notice.
When our stadium was approved by FIB to host matches, we directed all the financial resources towards the procurement of materials to clear the outstanding works at Bata Stadium.
This was to ensure we comply with the conditions imposed by FIB within the time limits set.
Furthermore, following the approval of Bata Stadium by FIB we were now proceeding on the premise that we had a home ground for use and no longer be travelling to Mandava Stadium, hence we had not made any contingency reserves or budget to travelling to Mandava Stadium.
Secondly, the lease agreement for Mandava Stadium was short-term. We hereby quote Clause 1 of the Lease Agreement between FC Platinum and ourselves which reads, ‘The Agreement is a short-term hire running for a maximum period of two months starting on the 17th of March 2023 and ending on the 16th of May 2023 OR whenever Bata Stadium is approved, whichever date is reached first’.
A copy of the short-term Lease we had with FC Platinum is Lodged with your office. In light of the expiration of the lease and the short notice we are unable to secure Mandava Stadium as we would need to enter into another lease agreement with FC Platinum, which we cannot do within 48 hours of receipt of your letter dated 18 May 2023.
We must also emphasise that we are not defiant that the match be played at Mandava Stadium, but we are asking for a postponement of the match due to financial constraints and short notice emanating from the above chronological events.
Further to that also due to the fact that we still have to re-negotiate a new lease agreement with FC Platinum following the approval of Bata Stadium by FIB which then triggered the lapse of our short-term lease with FC Platinum.
We sincerely beseech you to consider our request as we are victims of the circumstances that we have no control over as they were largely unforeseen.
We remain determined not to bring the game of football into disrepute and we apologise for any inconvenience the request may bring to all interested parties.

Sheasham Claim Financial Incapacitation, Requests Postponement Of Match

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has reminded Sheasham Football Club it has no right to change fixtures without the written approval of the League.
This comes after Sheasham declared that they will not fulfill their fixture against CAPS United at any other venue other than their home ground, Bata Stadium in Gweru.
The PSL suspended the use of Bata Stadium for topflight matches until outstanding works are completed and directed the Gweru-based club to use Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane about 120km away, as their home ground.
In a letter addressed to Sheasham, PSL chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele, wrote:

We note that the ZIFA Acting Chief Executive Officer has responded to your Club President’s letter clarifying the work that needs to be done before the stadium hosts Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matches.
Please be advised that the PSL match between your Club and CAPS United Football Club is scheduled to be played at Mandava Stadium as per the Match Day 10 program released by the PSL Competitions Manager.
We draw your attention to the Premier Soccer League Rules and Regulations which state that;
Order 18.1: Every Club shall be obliged to honour every league fixture as directed by the League Secretariat.
Order 18.5: Clubs have no right or powers to change fixtures without the written approval of the League.
It is our hope that the outstanding works at Bata Stadium will be completed as soon as possible.
</blockquote>
Sheasham have argued that the PSL has no jurisdiction to stop them since it was the ZIFA First Instance Body (FIB) that granted them clearance to use the venue.
But in a letter addressed to Sheasham chairman Reginald Chidawanyika, acting ZIFA chief executive officer Xolisani Gwesela encouraged the club to speed up the completion of works at Bata Stadium.
ZIFA requested Sheasham to use Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane for their next league match against CAPS United.
Bata Stadium played host to the Sheasham-Highlanders match a fortnight ago, with the tie ending 0-0.
It was during the Highlanders game that unfinished sections of the facility were exposed.

"You Cannot Change Fixtures", PSL Tells Sheasham Amid Stadium Ban Row

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA), has requested that Gweru-based Sheasham Football Club use Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane for their next Premier Soccer League (PSL) match.
Throughout the week, Sheasham has been adamant that their match against CAPS United on Sunday, 21 May, will be played at their unfinished Bata Stadium.
The PSL had suspended the facility after it hosted the Sheasham versus Highlanders match, to allow for completion of construction.
In a letter addressed to Sheasham chairman Reginald Chidawanyika, acting ZIFA chief executive officer Xolisani Gwesela said:

We acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 15 May 2023 and concerns were fully noted.
The Association also deeply understands the inconvenience caused to the club.
ZIFA has had discussions with the Premier Soccer League and in the interest of football and as a way forward, we humbly request that Sheasham Football Club use Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane for their next league match.
The Association fully understands and appreciates the wonderful work done by your club. We implore the club to continue with the great work and also address the following outstanding issues:
(a) Clearing of debris
(b) Continuous maintenance of the turf (playing surface)
(c) Equipping the doping control room
(d) Completion of terraces
(e) Use of quarry stones in the parking areas
(f) Use of non-slippery material on the tunnel pathway
(g) Complete signposting of the faculty.

The PSL has also warned Sheasham that they have no right to change a venue without approval.

ZIFA Requests Sheasham To Use Mandava Stadium

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has suspended the use of Bata Stadium in Gweru to allow the completion of construction work at the ground.
This follows an outcry by football stakeholders that the stadium was not yet suitable to host topflight matches after paying fans were last week forced to watch a match while standing “outside” the stadium.
In a statement released on Friday, 12 May, Kudzai Bare, PSL Communications and Media Liaison Officer said:
<blockquote>
This serves to advise that in the interest of all football stakeholders, Bata Stadium will not be hosting Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matches to allow the completion of the construction work that is currently taking place at the stadium.
We applaud Sheasham FC for embarking on such a massive project which will help change the Zimbabwean football landscape.
</blockquote>
Bata Stadium, which is the home ground to Sheasham FC, has only hosted one PSL match, that is, the match between the Midlands province-based team against Highlanders last weekend. The match ended 0-0.
The majority of Zimbabwe’s stadiums are in poor condition and require significant investment to bring them up to modern standards.
Stadiums such as Rufaro Stadium and Gwanzura Stadium, both in Harare and Sakubva Stadium in Mutare are some of the stadiums in dire need of repairs and upgrades.
Dynamos, CAPS United, Black Rhinos, Herentals, Yadah, ZPC Kariba and Cranborne Bullets, have only one functional football stadium – the National Sports Stadium in Harare.
