The family of Godknows Machingura, a suspect in an armed robbery case, is demanding an independent inquiry into his killing by police detectives. They believe that the police account of the shooting does not match the evidence observed during the autopsy or the explanations given by Machingura’s friends. Machingura, who was 44 years old at the time, was shot dead by detectives from the Harare CID homicide in December 2023.
According to the police, Machingura and his five friends, including Paul Zhou and Jabulani Ngobeni, were trailed by detectives who received a tip about their planned robberies, including targeting prominent individuals for ransom. The police claimed that Machingura died from a gunshot wound to the groin after a shootout in the Arcadia suburb of Harare.
However, a family member, speaking anonymously, disputed the police’s account, insisting that Machingura was a victim of police execution. She stated that during the post-mortem examination, five bullet wounds were observed on his body, including two shots to the head, one below the ribs, and two on his legs. The family member shared graphic images from Machingura’s autopsy, showing the gunshot wounds and his badly beaten body. She told ZimLive:

We want a thorough and transparent investigation into the events leading to his death.
In the news, it is falsely reported that Godknows sustained a gunshot wound yet he has five gunshot wounds; two shots in the head, one gunshot below the ribs, and two gunshots on his legs.

According to the family member, Machingura had been under surveillance by the police since April last year, and detectives eventually used Zhou to lure him to his death. She claimed that Machingura was dragged into Zhou’s house, where he was severely beaten before being forced into a vehicle and driven to an unknown location where he was killed. The family member said:

Godknows was lured by the police to go to Zhou’s Waterfalls residence where armed CID officers fired shots three times in the air and commanded him to get out of his car and put his hands in the air before cuffing him.
He was dragged into Zhou’s house where he was severely beaten.
We hear that officers who held him captive then discussed among themselves on who among the six was should die on the day and they agreed on Machingura and Jabulani (Ngobeni).
Godknows and Jabulani were forced into Honda Fit vehicles and driven to an unknown location where they were killed and the remaining four were taken to remand.
Godknows back was also torn, and Jabulani also on his armpit has a huge hole, even his hands were torn apart by what appears to be very sharp objects.
These people are cruel and we want justice.

The family members expressed frustration in their efforts to uncover the truth from the police. In response, the national police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, advised the family to approach the Commissioner of Police if they felt aggrieved by the police conduct. He stated that the police were conducting investigations and would release more information once the investigative processes were complete.

Family Demands Independent Inquiry As Godknows Machingura's Killing By Police Sparks Controversy

A robbery suspect, Godfrey Njoromore, was shot and killed in Chitungwiza while attempting to escape arrest. The police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the incident and stated that Njoromore died after being taken to the hospital. In a statement seen by Pindula News, Nyathi said the shooting followed the arrest of Benjamin Chipiri for a robbery that occurred in December 2023. Chipiri implicated Njoromore during police questioning. Detectives acted on information and located Njoromore in Nyatsime, Chitungwiza, where he was shot in the thigh while trying to evade capture. The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a shooting incident involving a robbery suspect, Godfrey Njoromore (48) which occurred at a house in Nyatsime, Chitungwiza on 06th January 2024.
The incident follows the arrest of Benjamin Chipiri (34) for a case of robbery which occurred on 02nd December 2023 at a house in Zengeza 5, Chitungwiza where US$ 8 164-00 cash, two laptops, three cellphones, solar lights and a BP testing machine, among other valuables, were stolen. Benjamin Chipiri was apprehended by a mob after one of the complainants alerted neighbours of the robbery incident which was in progress. The other two suspects managed to escape.
The arrest led to the recovery of a laptop, solar light, BP testing machine and an empty magazine of FN Browning Pistol. Benjamin Chipiri implicated Godfrey Njoromore after being interviewed by the Police.
On 06th January 2024 detectives from CID Homicide acted on received information and tracked Godfrey Njoromore to Nyatsime, Chitungwiza where he was shot on the thigh after trying to evade arrest. Subsequently, Godfrey Njoromore was taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals where he died upon admission.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police applauds members of the public for supplying useful information to the police and reiterates that there is no going back in the fight against armed robbery syndicates which involve both local and foreign suspects.

Armed Robbery Suspect Shot Dead In Chitungwiza

Some members of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Beitbridge, Zimbabwe, are accused of stealing a document that implicates their colleagues in car smuggling. The document is a fraudulent vehicle clearance certificate allegedly issued by detectives Tererayi Silindeni and Munyaradzi Moyo. It is believed that Silindeni and Moyo collaborated with Detective Joseph Mosi to facilitate the clearance of a Toyota Wish car purchased in South Africa into Zimbabwe.
National police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident and stated that the police are investigating the case. He told NewsDay:

We are investigating that case which may have occurred at Beitbridge. Criminal and disciplinary charges have been made to those three. We want to state there is no room for criminality in the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP). All the facts in your media inquiry are correct and more arrests are possible.

According to court papers, the fraudulent clearance certificate was issued to Julian Morris Ndou without properly inspecting the car, claiming it was a Toyota Hiace. Ndou used the fake documents to buy a Toyota Wish vehicle in South Africa and then drove it to Zimbabwe with Rodywin Gweshero and Tirawe Chiwara. They attempted to avoid paying duty by making it appear as if the vehicle had left the country previously.
During their journey, a police officer at a checkpoint became suspicious when he noticed a third number plate attached to the car with tape. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the vehicle had been smuggled, leading to the arrest of Gweshero and Chiwara. They implicated the detectives, resulting in their subsequent arrest.
However, when Silindeni, Moyo, and Mosi appeared in court, the vehicle clearance document that linked the first two detectives went missing. The three detectives were granted bail, while Gweshero and Chiwara paid bail as well.

Detectives Steal Proof That Linked Colleagues To A Car Smuggling Saga

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has announced the death of senior Chief Superintendent Caven Tachiona. According to a statement seen by Pindula News, the police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, revealed that Tachiona was 51 years old. Read the statement:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police family wishes to express its deep sorrow on the untimely death of Chief Superintendent Cavin Tachiona (51), who passed away on 02 December 2023 at House Number D Jock Douglas Road, Mkushi Training Academy after a long illness.
At the time of his death, the late senior officer was the Staff Officer and aide de camp to the Commissioner-General of Police. He was born on 15th August 1972 and was attested into the Zimbabwe Republic Police on 25th November 1999.
Soon after training, he was posted to ZRP Sakubva, Mutare in Manicaland Province. His policing career took him to various stations in Manicaland and Police General Headquarters where he held several positions as he through the ranks.
A church service for the late senior officer was held at Mkushi Training. Academy Chapel on Monday 4th December 2023. Burial has since been scheduled for Zororo Cemetery, Harare at 1400 hours this afternoon.
The Commissioner-General of Police, Tandabantu Godwin MATANGA, senior officers and the entire ZRP family is deeply saddened by the untimely passing on of the illustrious and dedicated senior officer.

One involved a woman who died after being struck with an axe by her husband, who accused her of having an extra-marital affair. Another case involved a woman who was found dead in a shallow grave after being allegedly assaulted by her husband. In another incident, a man was stabbed to death by a group of suspects.
In a statement seen by Pindula News, Nyathi urged the public to value the sanctity of human life and seek peaceful ways of resolving their differences. They also encourage couples to seek counselling from local police stations, traditional leaders, or church elders. <h2>MURDER CASES DUE TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE</h2>
The Zimbabwe Republic Police is concerned with the number of murder cases being recorded throughout the country on weekly basis. Most of these cases are mainly attributed to domestic violence arising from accusations of infidelity on the part of couples.
In one of the murder cases, Nyarai Masauso (41) died on 28′ May 2023 whilst admitted at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals after being struck with an axe several times on thighs and stomach by her husband only identified as Muridzi, after a dispute on 26′ May 2023 at Watyoka Mine, Watakai, Concession. The suspect had accused the victim of having an extra marital affair. The suspect is on the run.
In another case which occurred on 27th May 2023, Sikhangezile Tshuma (39) was found dead with bruises all over the body and a deep cut on the forehead, in a shallow grave which was covered with a cloth, in a bushy area near Gulalikabili Line, Tsholotsho. The victim was allegedly last seen arguing with her husband, Darlington Sibanda (36) at Patalika Business Centre on 26′ May 2023. Darlington Sibanda had accused the victim of having an extra marital affair.
On 28 May 2023 at Flem Flora Farm, New Parliament, Mt Hampden, Harare, Alexandra Gezi (52) struck his wife, Rita Rore (42) with a hoe on the head several times after accusing her of infidelity. The victim was found dead with deep cuts on the head after her daughter had alerted neighbours of the attack.
Meanwhile, police in Fort Rixon are investigating a case of murder which occurred on 27th May 2023 at a shop at 99 Village, 5 Kombo. The suspects identified as, Bethod Mthembu, Nkosi Mpofu, Arnold Sibanda and a male juvenile (17) took turns to assault the victim, Readman Ndlovu (46) with open hands before Bethod Mthembu stabbed the victim with Columbian knife on the chest. The victim died on the spot.
In Gweru, Police have arrested Darlington Tshuma (29) in connection with a cases of murder and attempted murder which occurred on 27th May 2023 in a bushy area near Matambo Business Centre, Matobo. The suspect and Moses Moyo (31) stabbed Jefta Mkwananzi (22) with a Colombian knife on right thigh before stabbing Fana Ntini (19) with the knife on the stomach. Fana Ntini died on the spot whilst Jefta Mkwananzi sustained a cut on the thigh and is admitted at Gweru Provincial Hospital.

Zimbabwe Police Worried About Rise In Domestic Violence And Murder

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national pokesperson Assistant Commissioner, Paul Nyathi on Wednesday told Harare magistrate, Taurai Manuwere that Harare lawyer Fadzayi Mahere lied when she allegeldy tweeted that a baby had been killed by a police officer in 2020.
According to <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/police-spokesperson-says-mahere-lied-as-dead-baby-tweet-trial-comes-to-an-end/">NewZimbabwe.com</a>, Asst Comm Nyathi was called in to testify after the State refused to accept his statement confirming the assault back then.
He told court that police only got to know of the incident on social media and when they were approached by senior government officials who wanted clarification over the matter.
Mahere’s lawyer, David Drury, ask why Asst Comm Nyathi had called his subordinates “errant” in a statement he issued on the incident.
In response, Asst Comm Nyathi said it was because the police officers did not report the incident to their superiors. He said:

We said errant police officers because they did not report to their commanders and that showed they acted in an improper manner, however that does not take away the fact that the child was not killed.
</blockquote>
During cross examination by prosecutor Netsai Mushayabasa, Nyathi added:

There was total chaos because of this false information. Even senior government officials were asking why this had happened.
ZRP is a public institution where if anything happened when the public are not clear they can check with station commanders to check if what is circulated is true or false.

The State closed its case in August last year but the matter was postponed on several occasions.
Mahere, who is the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) spokesperson, is accused of publishing falsehoods.
She allegedly tweeted that a baton wielding police officer enforcing COVID-19 lockdown regulations had fataally struck one Rebecca Musariri’s child in Harare.
The ZRP refuted the claim and said the child was not killed.
A video of the incident went viral in 2020, with the mother clinging to a police officer claiming he had killed her baby.

The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Republic_Police">Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP)</a> has announced the arrest of three suspects in connection with a series of attempted murder and robbery cases which occurred in Harare and Chitungwiza between October last year and January 2023. <h2>ARREST OF BRIGHTON BESTER MOYO AND TWO OTHERS FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER AND ARMED ROBBERY CASES</h2>
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Brighton Bester Moyo (23), Brave Zhou alias Kudawashe Moyo (37) and Tapiwa Mbirimi (35) in connection with spate of attempted murder and robbery cases which occurred in Harare and Chitungwiza between 30th October 2022 and 29th January 2023. On 25th January 2023, detectives from CID Homicide, Harare, received information which linked Brighton Bester Moyo to attempted murder and robbery cases which occurred on 05th January 2023 in Zengeza 4, Chitungwiza where the complainants were attacked before US$16 030 and ZAR3 900 cash, several cellphones and a Beretta Pistol with 14 rounds were stolen. It was established that the suspect is serving a 27-month jail sentence for a case of assault at Beitbridge prison. Detectives interviewed the suspect at the prison and he implicated Brave Zhou alias Kudakwashe Moyo and three others.
On 04th February 2023, detectives received information that Brave Zhou was travelling to Harare from Beitbridge. The detectives went to Mbare, Magaba area where they spotted the suspect walking along Cripps Road. When the detectives approached the suspect to arrest him, he withdrew a pistol and fired towards them leading to a shootout. Subsequently, the suspect was arrested and was referred to Sally Mugabe Hospital where he died on admission.
The arrest led to the recovery of a Toyota Corolla vehicle, registration number ADS 6050 which was bought by the suspect using proceeds of crime, a 7.65mm Vizol pistol with a magazine of one round, a crow bar and a Samsung ES27 digital camera.
On 07th February 2023, detectives reacted to information which led to the arrest of Tapiwa Mbirimi alias Captain in Bulawayo. An Itel cellphone, various clothes, various tools, a 6.35 Berretta pistol with an empty magazine, Qbook laptop, Samsung 55-inch television, defy refrigerator, TV stand, speaker and bed were recovered from the suspect.
The suspects are linked to thirteen cases of attempted murder and robbery cases which occurred in Chitungwiza and Harare. These include a robbery case which occurred on 30th October 2022 at Ashdown Park, Harare where two complainants were attacked before three cellphones, a Bluetooth speaker and US$1 293 cash were stolen, and eleven cases of attempted murder and robbery which occurred on 29th January 2023 at Savanhu Village, Mayambara, Seke where the suspects ran amok attacking villagers with machetes and iron bars before stealing 14 cellphones, two pairs of shoes and US$928 cash. The suspects shot one of the complainants with a pistol on the back.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of the outstanding suspects only identified as, Ndex, Archford, Carrington, Ashey and Simon. Another Robbery Suspect Shot During Shootout With Police

The body of a suspected murderer was found hanging in a local church in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo.
A police statement seen by Pindula News says the deceased, Judge Evans Zinzombe, was a wanted person in connection with the murder of his estranged wife on 7 December 2022.

 The ZRP reports that Judge Evans Zinzombe (36) who was being sought in connection with the callous murder of his estranged wife, Phelomina Mabika (32) which occurred on 07/12/2022 at a house in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, has committed suicide. His body was found hanging from a metal roof truss at a local church in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo.

It is alleged that Zinzombe killed his estranged wife in cold blood on Wednesday and went on to sexually abuse her corpse in full view of the couple’s two minor children.
Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said Zinzobe allegedly sneaked into the room where Phelomina Mabika (32), their daughter (12) and a son (7) were before strangling her to death with hands.
He and his wife were reportedly having marital disputes which forced them to sleep in separate rooms.
After killing her, Zinzombe allegedly went on to sexually abuse the body in full view of his children.
The children spent the whole night with the body before a police report was made in the morning.
The incident happened just as the nation was observing 16 Days of activism against gender-based violence.

Murder Suspect's Body Found Hanging In A Local Church

A 47-year-old Harare woman who last week claimed to have lost over US$62 000 to three robbers has been arrested for making a false report.
The woman claimed robbers armed with a pistol raided while she was counting the money in her bedroom at a house in Glen Lorne, Harare at around 1.30 pm and stole the cash.
A Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) report seen by Pindula News on 10 November 2022 read:

The ZRP is investigating a robbery case where a woman aged 47 was robbed US$62 150 cash on November 9, 2022 at around 1.30pm in Glen Lorne, Harare by three unknown suspects.
The suspects, who were armed with an unidentified pistol pounced at the complainant’s residence and went to the bedroom where she was counting cash. They threatened her with a firearm before stealing the cash.

Police then appealed to anyone with information that might assist them with investigations to contact any nearest police station. 
Some members of the public were sceptical while some blamed the alleged robbery on the erosion of the public’s confidence in the banking sector. Said one commentator:

Harare Woman Arrested For "Lying" That She Had Been Robbed Of US$62 000

Three armed robbers broke into a house in Mbizo 19, Kwekwe and got away with US$20 000 cash and other valuables.
The three robbers also reportedly took turns raping three women at the house before they disappeared into the dark.
The ordeal reportedly lasted three hours on Saturday night, according to <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/gang-rape-as-armed-robbers-hold-family-hostage-for-three-hours/">Chronicle</a>.
National Police Spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said investigations were underway. Said Ass Comm Nyathi:

An Unidentified Man Found Dead Along Willowvale Road

The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Republic_Police">Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP)</a> has announced that it arrested 189 people on Sunday over cross-border crimes bringing the total number of people arrested since the launch of the operation code-named “No to Cross Border Crimes” to 169 139.
The operation was launched on the 1st of July 2021. The operation targets illegal border crossing, and smuggling.
Police have also advised that 124 people were arrested on Sunday under the operation, “No to machete gangs” bringing the cumulative arrests since January this year to 33 764.

Police Arrest Over 180 People On Sunday For Cross Border Crimes

Kuwadzana East Member of Parliament, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Chalton_Hwende">Chalton Hwende</a>, Saturday said his party, the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Citizens%27_Coalition_for_Change">Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC)</a> will in the future hold rallies without approval from the police.
He said the remarks after <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2022/08/06/watch-hwende-says-anti-riot-police-disrupted-residents-engagement-meeting/">anti-riot police had disrupted the party’s residents’ engagement meeting</a> in Kuwadzana. 
Hwende, the party’s secretary-general, sought to thank residents of the high-density suburb for re-electing him as a member of parliament but police stopped him and also arrested dozens of the party’s activists.
The legislator said the decision to shut their meeting down came even after they had presented all documentation that allowed them to go ahead. They had applied thrice before being given a green light. He said:

They came and arrested our people.
After the elections we made three applications requesting for permission to come thank the people who elected us.
Three different applications have been turned down. Today we came with a proper feedback meeting, properly applied for with notices required in terms of the law given but as you can see, we have been stopped.
They are treating us as banned but I am not sure they can successfully stop a member of parliament (MP) and elected councillor from meeting residents.
We will be speaking to government officials that are responsible for this kind of behaviour. 
The councillor had successfully managed to bring all top officials from council to answer queries in the community.
Going forward we will just continue without approval because we apply, and they continue turning us down; we cannot fail to meet residents.

A Banket man was beaten to death for allegedly stealing an undisclosed number of eggs, amid an upsurge in random killings in the small farming town.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner, Paul Nyathi confirmed the latest murder, which comes in the wake of a string of similar violent incidents. <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/banket-man-killed-for-stealing-eggs-amid-upsurge-in-random-killings/">NewZimbabwe.com</a> quotes him as saying:

ZRP Banket is investigating a murder case in which Richmore Gomo died on July 27, 2022, after he was hit with a brick on the head by the suspect, Cliff Churu (46) on July 26, 2022, at Plumstead farm. The suspect had accused the victim of stealing eggs.

In recent weeks, Banket has recorded four deaths of residents in a trend that authorities say needs to be stopped.
Stakeholders in Banket, which falls under Zvimba Rural District Council Ward 22, have called for concerted efforts to end needless loss of lives, particularly due to alcohol, drugs and illicit substances.
Ward 22 Councillor, Never Hutepasi, raised concern over the rising number of deaths which he blamed on the police for inaction.
Reports of killings have been raising countrywide with some said to be done for ritual purposes while some are resulting from domestic violence.

Banket Man Killed For Stealing Eggs

The Zimbabwe Republic Police is concerned with murder cases which are continuously occurring in various parts of the country.
In one of the cases, on 10th July 2022, Police in Ruwa arrested Samuel Masiyandima (24) and Ishmael Maguje (30) who were part of a mob which assaulted Tinashe Mangwende (41) to death at a plot along Shifilder Drive near Goromonzi turn off. The suspects accused Tinashe Mangwende of breaking into their house at night before stealing a 42-inch television set.
In another case, an unlawful entry into premises and theft suspect, Tapiwa Moyo (40) succumbed to the injuries he sustained during an attack by a mob in Norton on 10 July 2022. The mob accused Tapiwa Moyo of breaking into Enara Chikata’s (40) house in Calfa , Katanga where he stole two cellphones. The Police has so far arrested Enara Chikata, Prince Layi (29) and Last Chivero (29) in connection with the case. 
Meanwhile, William Hwede (34) was found dead on 11 July 2022 near a wholesale shop in Karoi town after he was allegedly assaulted by unknown suspects on allegations that he stole unidentified property at Karoi Hospital. Police recovered a wooden stick and a catapult suspected to have been used in the assault of the victim at the scene.
In another case of murder, Yakani Mpofu (20) died while admitted at a local hospital after he was found with a cut on the stomach with intestines protruding on 10th July 2022 near a bar in Luveve, Bulawayo. The suspects behind the case are yet to be identified.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police warns the public against taking the law into their hands. Suspects apprehended by the public for various criminal acts should be surrendered to Police for the law to take its course through the courts.

Zimbabwe Republic Police Prohibits Carrying Firearms In Public Gatherings

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has announced that two people were admitted to Chitungwiza and Parirenyatwa Hospitals after being shot by a stray bullet. Police national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the bullet was fired by police who had engaged in a shootout with an armed robbery suspect identified as Denis Madondo. The incident happened at Taita Shops in Chitungwiza on 27th June 2022. In a statement seen by Pindula News, Nyathi said the police officers missed and the bullets hit the duo. <h2>ZRP PRESS STATEMENT 28TH JUNE 2022 SHOOTING INCIDENT: CHITUNGWIZA</h2>
The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating an unfortunate incident that occurred at Taita Shops in Chitungwiza on 27th June 2022 at around 1600 hours, where Police had a shoot-out with a robbery suspect only identified as Denis Madondo.
Police received a tip-off and located the suspect at Taita Shops. The suspect noticed detectives approaching and drew an Airgun pistol from his jacket before pointing it to the detectives. In response, the detectives fired a warning shot into the air and later shot towards the suspect and missed him.
The suspect dropped the pistol and fled into the bushes where he got into an unregistered red Honda Fit vehicle and drove off towards Chitungwiza-Hwedza Road.
After about an hour, it emerged that the bullet which missed the suspect had hit Tashinga Mugwara and Pamela Muchazorwei. The two victims sustained serious injuries and are currently admitted at Chitungwiza Hospital and Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals respectively.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police deeply regrets the unfortunate shooting of the two and urges the public to quickly move away from crime scenes especially when armed robbers are confronting Police officers. 
The Police will not rest until all robbery suspects are brought to book and the law takes its course. Above all, criminals are warned against resisting arrest and firing at Police officers, as an appropriate measure of force will be retained.

Two People Shot By Stray Bullets In Chitungwiza [Full Text]

A robber who has been on the police’s most-wanted list was shot and killed last Thursday in Glen View 1, Harare where he was hiding at his girlfriend’s house.
Decide Rice (52) had been operating from South Africa and committing a spate of armed robberies across borders.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said that after committing a spate of robberies, he would flee to South Africa.
He said detectives recently received information that Rice was hiding at his girlfriend’s house in Glen View 1 and they reacted. Nyathi said:

The detectives cordoned off the house and after being confronted, he attacked them resulting in warning shots being fired.
He was shot on both legs and right upper arm.
</blockquote>
Rice was pronounced dead on admission to a city hospital.
Police searched his girlfriend’s house and discovered detonators that are believed to have been used to blast safes.
According to the police, Rice:

a). had over 12 cases of armed robbery committed since 2017.
b). had escaped several shoot-outs with the police.

Recently, police declared war on armed robbers following an increase in violent crimes countrywide.

Most-Wanted Robber Shot Dead

A Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) female presiding officer collapsed and died Saturday afternoon while carrying out designated election duties at Chipadze Primary School in Bindura, Mashonaland Central.
The presiding officer whose name was not released, collapsed and it could not be ascertained if she had been complaining of any illness when she reported for duty. 
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with The Sunday Mail last night. He said:

We had an unfortunate incident at Chipadze Primary School in Bindura where a presiding officer just collapsed and died. We are still assessing if there are any other reports, we will give to the media tomorrow (today).
The presiding officers’ body was ferried to Bindura Hospital Mortuary. We are yet to find out if she was not feeling well. We will be guided by the medical experts. It’s an unfortunate incident.

Polling stations were opened at 7 am and were closed at 7 pm.

ZEC Officer Collapses And Dies At A Polling Station

The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Republic_Police">Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP)</a> has confirmed raids carried out in Harare on Wednesday. ZRP say these raids were not targeting, specific individuals or personalities but criminal activities based on the information given to the Police. There are reports that <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2022/03/02/police-cio-raid-walter-magayas-home/">one of the premises raided</a> belongs to <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Walter_Magaya">Walter Magaya</a>, the leader of the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/PHD_Ministries">Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries</a>. In a statement seen by Pindula News, Police national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Paul_Nyathi">Paul Nyathi</a>, said one suspect has been arrested. As a result one suspect, Ashref Kara of number 66 Argyle Road, Avondale West, Harare has been arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition: The firearms are listed as follows:

The suspect is facing, charges of contravening provisions of the Firearms Act, Chapter 10:09.

ZRP Commissioner-General Matanga Re-assigns Deputy Commissioner-Generals

A drunk pedestrian is being blamed after a fiery bus collision with a fuel tanker that killed five people near Mutare on Christmas Eve.
Police say the driver of a Beta bus was avoiding running over the drunk unidentified man at around 6 PM when he swerved into the opposing lane before crashing into a fuel tanker. Said police in a statement:

The driver of a Beta Bus Company’s Youtong was travelling towards Mutare, with 63 passengers on board and on approaching the 242 km peg it is claimed that the driver was avoiding a suspected drunk pedestrian resulting in the bus swerving onto the lane of oncoming traffic. As a result, the bus collided with a Freightliner fuel tanker which was travelling in the opposite direction, with one passenger on board.

National police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the fuel tanker exploded and both vehicles were engulfed in flames and burnt to ashes. 
Three people died on the spot including the driver of the fuel tanker and his passenger while two others died upon admission at Victoria Chitepo Hospital. 
The bodies of the victims were ferried to Victoria Chitepo Hospital, while 60 people who were injured were admitted at the same hospital.
Witnesses described scenes of heroism as dozens of passengers helped each other to escape the burning bus.
The dead were burnt beyond recognition.

Drunk Pedestrian Blamed For Mutare Road Accident

Four people died after a Beta Private Limited <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2021/12/24/watch-fuel-tanker-bursts-into-flames-after-head-on-collision-with-a-bus/">bus collided with a fuel tanker, before bursting into flames</a> 20 km outside of Mutare, Manicaland Province on Christmas eve.
All four were apparently burnt beyond recognition.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the tanker driver, his passenger and two passengers from the bus died in the fiery accident.
The rest of the passengers managed to escape the inferno through the emergency exit panels.
However, 54 of those escaping passengers were taken to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital with injuries described as serious.
The four bodies were being retrieved last night.
Nyathi said the bus, which was on its way from Harare, encroached onto the opposite lane resulting in the head-on collision with the tanker that was heading towards Harare. He said last night:

There are reports that the bus driver had tried to avoid a drunken person who was along the road and thereby encroaching onto the opposite lane but we are still conducting investigations.
Our officers are still on the ground and we will be releasing more details.

Manicaland Provincial Secretary for Development and Devolution, Mr Edgars Seenza who attended the said the accident happened around 5 pm on December 24. Mr Seenza said:

The tanker which was transporting fuel burst into flames. Both vehicles were reduced to wrecks.
As the Civil Protection Unit, we are encouraging motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads.
It so sad to lose lives in such a horrific manner especially during this festive season.

Pindula News presents the statement that was issued by police national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi:

<h2>FATAL ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT AT 151KM PEG ALONG HARARE-MASVINGO ROAD.</h2>
The Zimbabwe Republic Police expresses its deepest condolences to the bereaved families of four (4) people who died in a road traffic accident that occurred at the 151km peg along the Harare – Masvingo Road on 15 December 2021 at 0300 hours.
A Freightliner truck towing two trailers which was travelling towards Masvingo sideswiped a stationary Shacman tipper parked by the roadside facing the same direction and swerved to the right resulting in a head-on collision with an Iveco omnibus which was approaching from the opposite direction with 21 passengers on board. 
Four (4) people died on the spot including the Freightliner truck driver and three (3) passengers from the omnibus whilst 19 others were injured. The victims were taken to Chivhu General Hospital mortuary for post mortem whilst the injured were referred for medical attention. 
The victims have been identified as: – 
• William MAFUWU a male adult aged 61 years, 
• Florence AARON a female adult aged 31 years, 
• Devese Lewis GUGU a male infant aged 2 years and 
• Chipo MANDEYA a female adult aged 39 years 
We urge motorists to observe the Government’s curfew regulations and drive safely on the road to avoid accidents as well as saving lives.

FULL TEXT: Police Name People Who Died In Harare-Masvingo Road Accident

Four people were killed while eight others were injured when a truck was involved in a head-on collision with an Iveco omnibus (Kombi) between Chivhu and Mvuma, along the Harare-Masvingo Road early this morning.
The accident occurred between 2 am and 4 am.
The omnibus was on its way from Beitbridge Border Post heading towards Harare, while the haulage truck was heading towards the opposite direction when tragedy struck.
The haulage truck reportedly rammed into a stationary tipper truck which had developed a mechanical fault that made it swerve into the lane of oncoming traffic, resulting in the head-on collision.
Four people, including the haulage truck driver, died on the spot, while eight others were seriously injured.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the accident and said more details will be released soon.

Four People Perish In Harare-Masvingo Road Accident

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched investigations following the killing of 2 people in Shamva on Monday night.
Over 25 suspects are wanted in connection with the alleged murder of Russell Muronza and Marvelous Chiriga who were attacked with machetes, logs and sharp objects in a public violence case triggered by a mining dispute in Shamva on Monday. Reads a police statement on the case:

The ZRP is investigating cases of violence by 25 suspects at Wadzanai and Tipperari B/Centre, Shamva which resulted in the death of two people and injury of three others on 6th and 7th December 2021.
The group which include some suspects identified as Lloyd Musimwa, Tozeza, Tafadzwa Bandawu, Law Zvemunyati, Khedha Mudoti, Evidence Musimwa, JB, Mududusi, Jose [Murukazi], Talent Bhobho, was armed with axes, machetes and other weapons as they attacked other illegal miners.

Over 25 Suspects Wanted Over Murder Of 2 People In Shamva

Three armed robbers, who were disguised as genuine travellers in a cross border bus, last night robbed passengers of R167 050 and $7367.
 The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) say the robbers suddenly drew out pistols and started shooting at sixty-six passengers aboard a cross-border MBT bus before searching them one-by-one.
Police said the incident occurred at the 186km peg along the Harare-Masvingo Highway near Mvuma town around 11 pm on Monday.
Three passengers, including the bus driver Mr Lazarous Mungadzi (46), were injured.
One female passenger (name withheld), who was shot in the chest, is reportedly in a critical condition and is admitted at Gweru Provincial Hospital.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said he was still to gather the details.
The robbery has since been reported at Mvuma Police Station.
